MrsMc - definately getting knackered of weaning feels like I am feeding DD every 2 hrs again either bottle or food.

She will only eat hipp jars ATM ttally gone off ella's kitchen pouches think they are too runny although she likes fruitapura too. Going to buy 7mth jars tomorrow to try her. Keep trying finger foods but lazy minx just opens mouth like a bird and expects me to hold food for her

But she is definitely putting on weight now and is quite chubby I think

Gingeme - absolutely gorgeous pics Can I pick your advice re toilet training???? What would you do if your child was only pooing pants??? Tell him off?? Bribes not working. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

gingeme · 30/08/2008 09:22

All I can say is ride with it simpson. It will pass I know it seems like a life time but you will look back and say 'what was I worried about'. Do not under any circumstances scold him. Just say 'oh dear you have poohed in your pants again, would be so much better in your potty'. Do you know of anyone else who has a lo who is potty training? I found with ds3 because he had started nursery 3 days a week and other children there were potty training they all seemed to encourage each other. He will get it in the end. Good luck and persivere
I realised last night George has all his milk (3- 7oz bottles) all at night. A bottle at bed time one at 3.30am and one with his breakfast. His lunch and dinner he has juice with.
Dh and I are going to dh's sons wedding today. My sil is looking after the ds's for the afternoon. Not very happy about going without the boys but thats a long story for another time.
Right better get off the pc and get there stuff organised.
Have a good day all. xxx

MrsMcJnr · 30/08/2008 17:29

Simpson - I have no personal experience of potty training but know a friend had the same issue with her DS, in fact, she had to put nappy on him so he could sit under the stairs and do a poo apparently a lot of little boys are funny about doing poos on the potty/loo! oh the joys!

Gingme - hope you had a great time at the wedding

Anyone got an activity station? any recommendations?

simpson · 30/08/2008 17:47

MrsMcjr - I have got the learn and groove activity station by leap frog is pricey but fab DD was in it today and just worked out that the seat swivels all the way round she kept spinning and spinning it, it was sooo sweet

Gingeme - my mum suggested seeing if he wanted to do poos in the potty instead of loo, what do you think? She thinks it might be easier to crouch down and strain sorry if TMI.

gingeme · 30/08/2008 21:32

Ha so have men Yes Simpson that sounds like a good idea. I have only ever started with a potty and then to the toilet though ds4 watches ds3 in awe when he does wee in the toilet so I think we might be trying him with the toilet first.

Lilyloo · 30/08/2008 22:09

Right that is the plan of action from tomorrow then use potty for poo. It is his 3rd birthday tomorrow too, have spent this evening wrapping his little pressies ie a puzzle, books, sticker album, magnetic letters etc. His big pressie is a wooden balance bike but of course DH unable to put it together...

Went into town today to get stuff for Ireland and completely forgot his birthday cake for tomorrow. We are having a family meal at my mum's for him.

Filly - Is it your DS's birthday party tomorrow?? Hope it goes well and Thomas the tank engine cake a hit. DS wants a Lazy Town cake for his party on 13th Sept. Any tips on a party for 3 year olds greatly received

simpson · 30/08/2008 22:17

Lucky - according to my DH Everton might have a tough season ahead, sorry!! Not that he is an expert or anything

Think i am in for a bad night with DD She had no bottle before going to bed at 6 which is not unusual if she is too tired to take it so I usually wake her at 7pm to top her up. She does not wake fully, like dream feed I guess. But she refused bottle again. Grrr....

The good news is she went through last night till 5am which she has not done for 2 weeks so think the travel cot might have been the culprit.

LuckySalem · 30/08/2008 22:37

DP says that too cos they not bought anyone. Good luck for tonight Simpson. If it makes you feel any better I had a rough night last night with DD. Although tonight she is at my mum's so I can do the spare room. Speaking of which I best get my arse in gear.

simpson · 30/08/2008 22:45

Lucky - what are you doing to DD's room decorating or clearing out??

Where is madmouse?

LuckySalem · 30/08/2008 22:52

I'm clearing the spare room out for the kittens that are meant to be coming some time next week.

I'm hopefully doing DD's room on Thursday as her cot isn't going to fit in our room once the HUGE bed arrives in 2 weeks.

simpson · 30/08/2008 23:04

Awww kittens I would love to have a cat but DH has severe phobia and has said he would leave if I got cat. Tis one way to get rid of him

Some bloody neighbours have got music on outside in garden REALLY loud so will have to sleep with windows closed in this heat. Poor DH is sleeping on sofa as is worried I will hit his collarbone in night, will still hear noise as patio door not so sound proofed.

LuckySalem · 30/08/2008 23:21

Its a saturday night give em a little while and if not turned down by say 2am go ask them to.

We're gonna be fostering so this will be my frst batch [excited]

simpson · 30/08/2008 23:27

How many kittens are you getting??

We are thinking of getting DS a small furry like a hampster or something. Not totally sure what though. I would love a ginny (sp) pig but have no grass in back garden and don't want to invite foxes into garden etc...

LuckySalem · 30/08/2008 23:45

DP says we can only have 2 to start with lol. They were offering us to take in a litter of 5 but DP put his foot down!! lol

As for small furries, In all honesty either get 2 rats or 2 gerbils. Both like to be petted and they need to be in couples of they'll get lonely.
The gerbils are quick little buggars though so if you want something that will stay with you (and want to) rats and they honestly don't stink as much as you'd think. VERY clean.
I used to have 6 and it was only just before they had to go as I was pregnant and couldn't cope with them that they started to smell and it was my fault. I hadn't been able to clean them out in over a week. --- I miss them

simpson · 30/08/2008 23:54

Got to be honest had gerbils as pets when a child and didn't like then they nipped a lot. Have also had a rat which was a lovely natured little thing called Lulu but don't like their tails scaly etc also the way they jump around alarms me.

Its all down to an ex boy friend when I was 18 my hamster died of old age and I was on phone to best friend and he had taken it out of cage and dangled it in front of me. I have never screamed so much!!! Have phobia of small stiff animals now understandably!!

But guinea pigs definitely appeal think DH would make run etc but just don't like idea of fox etc sniffing around...

LuckySalem · 30/08/2008 23:55

Why don't you get a house run? Do you have a spare place for them? Make them a run outside for when you're out in the garden but keep them inside when you're not (safe from foxes)

simpson · 31/08/2008 00:06

Am thinking of that have 2 sheds one attached to house with lights etc which would be ideal but I also want/need to put 2nd freezer in there so maybe not eough space?!

Other shes just standard metal one in garden which would be ok but in summer gets VERY hot.

Also have no grass yet in back garden only front which is bigger. Planning to turf back garden next spring. ATM its just shingle so might be kinder to wait...

LuckySalem · 31/08/2008 00:14

Give it time then - I'm sure DS will wait lol

simpson · 31/08/2008 00:19

Yeah am thinking I will wait 6mths or so. I know the RSPCA lady in our area through work so would want to get a rescued pet if poss as long as tame/young etc.

DH is very keen and thinks it will be good for DS and has deffo volunteered to make pen etc. Just need to but hutch which is pricey.

Need to do my research now having never owned a guinea pig before about diet etc....

LuckySalem · 31/08/2008 03:29

It does take alot of looking after but then all animals do and I think it gives kids a sense of purpose and pride and responsibility to have something that they need to look after. One of my earliest memories is looking after our rabbit smudge and helping mum to clean out the cage.

LuckySalem · 31/08/2008 03:52

OK this is all free to good home

I have a number of things that I don't want anymore that I have put on freecycle but wanted to know if you wanted anything on here (seeing as you're all my buddies)

Here's the list.
