hi all
very envious of all those with good sleepers. dd teething and waking up so many times in the night only a feed will settle her back to sleep.

are dd poos very day just after i've put clean nappy on, she gives a big smile cheeky monkey.

we don't have a check up with hv until dd 2yrs how come its so different

justkeepswimming hope it worked out with your friend, cake always works for me

we've got a cheapy digital thermoeter fom asda works quite well gives same reading if tried several times, pretty good considering it was under £3

lots of trumping going on here, must be all the pureed veg

angechica hope your ds is starting to feel beter, its horrid when their not well it makes you feel terrible!

AngeChica · 28/08/2008 21:01

I did pop in Drs today and Alek turned out to have a very high temp. So my fever strip must be crap. Anyway Calpol PLUS baby nurofen has sorted it much better than Calpol alone and he has gone to bed happier.

Got new car seat this week Lucky. Mothercare reduced from £80 to £60 plus extra 10 per cent off with my Mothercard, so £54, you won't get a group 1 + seat much cheaper than that I reckon! I'm happy to get anything second hand except car seats TBH (unless I knew their history).

bluebell82 · 28/08/2008 21:07

Ruby is like clockwork poo wise! A big one at 10am.. then anoher at 12pm and then one at 3pm!!!!!

bluebell82 · 28/08/2008 21:41

oooooooooooooooh I've just joined a ttc thread in conception, I'm ovulating !!! - feels like the good old days when I didn't have to turn the lights off to get naked!! Can you tell I've had wine!!

LuckySalem · 28/08/2008 21:43

Yeh the only thing we won't take second hand is car seats.

Mothercare sounds good then cos I got a card and I can pay it off slowly. Will go look.

LuckySalem · 28/08/2008 21:45

Bluebell - good luck!! ;)

Car seat wise - (sorry to keep bugging) do you think its best to get one that will last till they're 11yrs old? Or should I get one then another?

MrsMcJnr · 28/08/2008 23:21

Hey ladies

JKS ? any better since Sunday night hon? DH?s pressies sounded great.

LaTrucha ? yup, he just started refusing me, at the time I was doing 2/3 feeds a day and so I gave him bottles at the 2nd or 3rd feed but always persevered with the 1st feed but after him only taking it once in 12 or 14 days, I decided that that was it yes it has it?s benefits I?ll admit but I hoped to carry on a bit longer as it was still beneficial to us both. Maybe I should have expressed again but I really felt that we?d gone beyond that.

Lilyloo ? sorry to hear about the eBay fiasco hope you get it resolved soon. Disappointing about the camping!! My DS has never had a jar either. Some one told me to just cut up spaghetti rather than buy baby pasta.

Madmouse ? it?s weird when they first move out isn?t it? glad the injections went ok, they are horrible aren?t they? Howz the tooth? I got an ear thermometer on Amazon, didn?t cost much. Funny isn?t it how you can?t sleep when they can? I think I caught up about a week later but I still expressed before bed.

Thanks Lucky ? understand why, one bottle a day?! How can that work? My DH still needs 4. I?ve packed away all the things Ds has outgrown for the next baby! Our flat now is tiny but I store clothes in vacuum pack bags under the beds. You don?t sound pathetic, I am envious that you can turn your mind to other things, I am still ga ga!

Thanks Betterhalf I felt the same when DS moved to his own room but you do get used to itx

Angechica ? thanks for explaining about the follow on milk. Don?t take this the wrong way hon but I think the bonding works both ways and it is easier if you let DH take over a bit more so that DS is used to someone else at nap and bed time hope DS is feeling better.

Glad you had a good time away Gingeme how lovely to hear comments that you look slimmer I lost 2 pounds last week so hoping for the same this week.

Hello Kelix

Bluebell ? Ruby is a lot like Xavier in that he likes his sleep but that is unusual that she?s given up the bedtime bottle!

Fillybuster ? the cottage sounded lovely, we had a day in Gib on Weds to meet m Grandparents off their cruise. I got so excited about seeing my grandparents that I didn?t sleep very well. We wanted to get there early so I set my alarm for 30 mins before Xavier?s earliest waking time (8am) to have a shower etc but the little blighter woke up early so I got 5 mins to get ready in the end. My grandparents were on fine form and it was lovely to catch up with them. They hadn?t seen Xavier since he was 11 weeks so they thought he?s changed quite a lot.

Isabellasmam ? nice to have you back!

LuckySalem · 28/08/2008 23:36

Logan at our house Poor little man.

his homing thread

Just in case any of you were interested.

MrsMc - Youve confused me! lol [not hard] one bottle? eh?

LaTrucha · 29/08/2008 11:30

HI all -

ANge - How's ALek this morning?

Lucky - have the kitty cats arrived?

Poltesco - whereabouts are you?

Had an absolutely rubbish morning here thanks to DH 'helping' without asking how to help. It started last night where DH said he'd try to do the one o'clock waking so prepared him bottle etc. Baby woke, DH asleep moaning 'you do it, I just got to sleep.' . Not happy. This morning I put dd down for har nap and went to shower, from where I can hear dd is she wakes. She rarely does but DH knows I want to be called in this situation. Except for this morning he decides to 'make up' for last night by resettling her himself. Cue baby with a ten-minute nap. . He knows she'll only settle for me during the day and YOU all know what a baby without a nap is like. Just spent the rest of the morning getting her back in the mood and not going to my favourite mum and baby group. Grrr

Phew... rant over.

LuckySalem · 29/08/2008 11:34

Oh dear LaTrucha - Bless him for trying though.

Kitties not here yet. DP wants to know some things before he'll allow them in the house (mainly money concerns) and he's put a stipulation that until he knows how the cats will react he only wants 2.... so we'll see. I've just msg'd the woman who wants them to come and see if she has any there that we can help with.

LaTrucha · 29/08/2008 18:42

Everyone putting their feet up?

simpson · 29/08/2008 19:07

Hi all!! Just want to say "I am back!!" Had a great time but holiday eventful, will fill you guys in when caught up!!

madmouse · 29/08/2008 20:23

Welcome bak Simpson, looking forward to hearing all about it.

LT, sorry to hear about bad morning, are you sure you should not let dh try more often until she learns to settle for him too? It worked here once I convinced dh that the best thing to do is not to cajole, distract or anything else, but just to hold and pat.

Can imagine you were at the one o clock waking. I get cross when dh says he also woke up every time Nathan cried. Yeah, you woke turned round and went back to sleep. That is fine, you work I don't and half of the time it is milk he wants, just don't claim to be sleep deprived, certainly not if you decide to play pc games until 1.30am on a weekday while I go to bed at 10.30 trying to get enough sleep , rant over.

Those of you on faebook did you see the message from Neuro? Seems to be doing really well! . Sorry new ladies, another blast from the past.

Lucky did you get my text re car seats in Asda? Did not check the age group though, just saw they were graco. Seeems odd to buy one up to 11 years though, how would it stay in one piece for 10.5 years?

I messed up Nathan's timings. Let him get too tired this afternoon, did not feed him solids at 5, thinking he could eat with us, then he had only a very short nap before dinner and we did not eat until 6.30, so he was way too tired to eat solids. he has drunk a reasonable amout of milk, but I will probably be up a few times. The almost sleeping through seemed due to his jabs anyway

Oh well, managed to get the house done. Planning to head to bed at about 9 to work on the sermon that I am preaching sometime next month or possibly October in one of our residential care home services. My first, eeeek. I have always said I am not a preacher, I am a reasonable and experienced public speaker, but that is different. Oh well, just as I was starting to wonder if maybe I should the leadership team came to the same conclusion (without knowing this). They may well never ask me again and dh quips that they are sending me to the care home as the residents are not very good at running away

AngeChica · 29/08/2008 20:34

Hi Simpson! Poor start to seaon on the footie front, less said the better eh

DS still not right but on the mend - have had about 5 horrible nappies today instead of his usual one a day! one all over my trousers and on the sofa so had to get the 1001 out. Speaking of which now DS is crawling my carpets are taking a worse battering than ever!

Bad news today, we have an old back boiler and DH put the heating on for a couple of days to help dry the washing mountain and it is now totally knackered. Gas board have classified it "at risk" so its goodbye to megabucks (at least) to get a new one. One good thing, the water did come out scalding hot which would have been v dangerous for DS so at least we can set the new one at lower temperature and it will be safer.

LaTrucha · 29/08/2008 20:35

HI Simpson!

LOL about the turning over and going back to sleep MM! DH says that too! DH is not usually here for nap time, which is why she won't settle fo rhim - it's so unusual. He's excellent at putting her down at night.

On that note, how would you all feel if DH offered to take over putting LO to sleep every night? I know I should jump at it, but I feel a bit of a tug about it. It's part of our beginnings of weaning. - and to avoid tiffs like this morning's!

And if you've got any advice on weaning, please post here. Getting a bit stressed..

LuckySalem · 29/08/2008 20:39

MM - Got your txt but after researching our car seat it'll last till she's 13kg THANK GOD as money is soooo tight. - Sorry I didn't reply but NO credit.

Had a rough night last night so sorry not been on much today. DD's teeth are REALLY hurting her she keeps screaming and nothing seems to help, she was up around every 2 hrs last night which was really hard esp when i'm used to her sleeping now.

I saw Neuro's msg - haven't had time to reply yet but I will. Glad everything is ok there too.

LuckySalem · 29/08/2008 20:50

Oh must have slight moan now.

DP didn't get home till 7:30am after going for a night out with the boys and has been sleeping on and off all day. I was looking forward to having a nice day together today as well as its an unusual day for him to have off.
Also he's been telling me how he's completely knackered - yes? well so am I!!

GRR .... ok i'm done.

simpson · 29/08/2008 20:53

Holiday was good and weather not too bad. The place was lovely. Dcs had a fab time DS loved going to the sea every morning and seeing what the tide was doing, feeding ducks etc. DD finally got to know my family

4 days before the end of the holiday DH decides to go and cycle to Goes (about an hour away) to watch Man U V pompy. Cue huge row from me, he had no light etc and was leaving at 8pm. At 9pm get a text to say he has come off bike and broken collar bone Was really pissed off with him I know he is in pain but what idiot goes out cycling that late & dark!! It could have been much worse. Sometimes I feel I am DH's mother not his wife.

It means I have to do EVERYTHING for DCs and try and get to Ireland. DD has decided to stop going through the night since the accident and wants a feed at 3/4am despite going through the night since 11 wks.

Ange - Footie definately not good

Lucky - We got DS's car seat from argos.

Hi to everyone else

Great news on the bad sleepers getting better, just wish my DD would too

LuckySalem · 29/08/2008 21:05

Simpson - Sounds like a nice holiday. Shame about Dh and that's something mine would do! lol. Hope he feels better soon.

simpson · 29/08/2008 21:13

Out of interest does anyone know what age a child can use a booster seat in a car???

Dh is insisting that DS will be ok in one in Ireland. He is 3 on Sunday.

LuckySalem · 29/08/2008 21:18

I think its 4 but I think its more the weight than the age.

LuckySalem · 29/08/2008 21:20

up to 13kg (2st 1lb) - a rear-facing baby seat
9kg to 18kg (1st 6lb - 2st 12lb) - a forward-facing child seat
15kg to 25kg (2st 5lb - 3st 13lb) - a booster seat
22kg (3st 6lb) or above - a booster cushion, or modern booster seat designed for larger children

simpson · 29/08/2008 21:32

He definitely needs to be in a car seat then just what I thought...

God am dreading flying to Ireland as I will have to lug three suitcases, two buggies and two Dcs to then be confronted with the MIL from Hell!! (Though not as bad as Bluebell's )

gingeme · 29/08/2008 22:47

Hi uploaded some new pics

MrsMcJnr · 29/08/2008 23:07

Lucky ? I have no idea what I was talking about sorry! Must have been more tired than I realised!

LaTrucha ? it?s a vicious circle isn?t it! Dads want to help but sometimes it takes more effort on our part to let them! My DH has put DS down at night since he was 8 weeks. He has a bath with DS, I then dry him (DS that is ), massage him, get him ready for bed and read him a story and then DH gives him his bedtime bottle and puts him down, it works really well for us it was an expressed bottle that DH gave DS until recently, now its formula.

Welcome back Simpson, glad you had a good time what a nightmare about your DH?s collarbone ? for you both!

Madmouse ? what?s the story about Neuro? How come she and the others don?t post here anymore?

Angechica ? sorry to hear about that poo and the boiler!

Anyone else find weaning tiring? I feel like it?s a battle to fit in all the milk feeds and meals and get on with the usual day to day things and then there?s all the cooking on top of that. I?m not complaining, it?s a labour of love but I am exhausted and I?m not even back at work yet, how will I manage when I am?
