Hi Girls
Composed a big post yesterday and lost it, grrrrr...

Hope everybody's doing okay and managing to find a bit of cheer in this bloody wintery gloom! (Hope you haven't got summery gloom Spin )

Beeyotiful Christmas pics Annie, and you're SO organised getting them up on FB. Mimi is just a little angel - she's like you isn't she! And Joey's like his daddy. Love the ones of them in bed.

And beautiful girls HC, aaaaaw. They look like they were having a lovely time too. What does the Peppa Pig mat do?

We're doing okay here - a bit doom and gloomy as DH is still out of work, grrrrr. Bloody stupid time to be looking for a job really, sigh.

Apart from that Emma is (mainly) a joy and we're fine. I was brave and took her for a 2 hour trip into town without a pram today I know some of you have been doing that for ages, but I have clung on to the pram a bit as I hate having to walk really slowly while she checks out every fag end on the pavement, and tries to wander into the traffic every two minutes. But she was really good!! Bless her. I told her she could only go without the pram if she was good and held my hand, and she really did listen.

"Emma walking" she said. "Yes, like a big girl" I said. "No Mummy" she said - "Mummy big, Emma little". Can't argue with that really...

Still no potty training as she still appears deeply uninterested. Still in a cot as no pressing reason to buy a bed yet, so her room still looks like a newborn's But it works for us so not complaining.

I am a complete lardy oaf since the festive season (and before it, unfortunately) - so had a few 'healthy' days last week, booze free and healthy food only. Have slipped a bit this week, but I'm determined to cut down on stuff generally as I desperately need to lose half a stone so my clothes fit.

Well done to the teetotallers / dieters! Big wave to everyone - I'll stop now so this doesn't become a monster post, but will try and keep up a bit better! xxx

AnnieAreYouOkAreYouOkAnnie · 16/01/2009 12:33

Hello ladies.

What a lovely Friday. All my 'work' done, a Pilates class in 35 minutes, and a 'date' with DH to look forward to tomorrow night - a friend has kindly offered to babysit while we go out.

It's all gone quiet on here? Is everyone is a drunken slumber (Well, apart from Bloss of course)?

DH went out to work yesterday and shopping after and came home again with... nowt. Looks like I'm just not getting a present this year. Good thing I have my lovely new bag!! grin

Had a drink last night (sorry Bloss) - just the one though, whilst having an evening to myself. It was lush...

Pixel thanks for your lovely comments! Loads of people say exactly that, though I can't see it myself. I can see me in Mimi a little, but I don't think Joey looks anything like DH. But apparently he does.
Sounds like Emma is a real cutie!! I love the little conversations we can have with them now..

Though not in the middle of the night. Speaking of which, I thought she slept through last night, only to be told by DH this morning that he was up twice with her! Whoops, missed that! Must have been comatose after by one (ok it was large) glass of Rioja.

Mimi has regressed again with the PT, she was doing really well, going on the potty for a wee, telling us poo was coming, but now she just does it in her pants again ALL the time. Joey, however, is a master.

Well girls, I wish you all a lovely weekend! x HC, you will keep us all sane x

HumphreysCorner · 16/01/2009 14:03

Hi all

Oh Annie, no pressie. Boo hoo! Couldn't open the grin link. Good on you doing the Pilates. Me, I just can't stand doing exercise-hate, hate, hate it but am doing quite well with cutting down on food (not wine though

Pixel-the Peppa Pig mat has all the characters on it and it asks you to either stand on the correct character or colour or number. Quite good actually.

Having trouble with Emma not wanting to go to school. Been like it since the Christmas Hols. Yesterday I had to fetch her from school as her head hurt but once home she made a miraculous recovery. This morning it was her ankle again (was her ankle last week before dancing so couldn't go) but there is nothing wrong with her ankle. Have taken her to school today and had a word with her teacher. Hoping the weekend break may help.

Come on you lot, it is very quiet here. Are you all having a MN break like you are having an alcohol break?

Love to all.

AnnieAreYouOkAreYouOkAnnie · 16/01/2009 14:53

Lol HC, the grin link wasn't meant to be a link, just a . Too many square brackets...

Re Emma, I used to get what my mother called 'schoolitis' when I was in primary school. Tummy ache, anything just to avoid school. Can't remember if there was a reason though. Hope it's just a phase, and that the teacher would notice anything amiss.

We had a look at another of Joey's potential schools yesterday, it was really nice. My second fave I think. But quite far away.
It's so hard to choose second and third prefenences, as distance is the deciding factor and catchment areas are so tiny we are likely to end up with none of our choice. Still holding out for the church one, which doesn't use distance, only holiness, as a decider. So also a slim chance, but we're bunging it down first anyway... AAAARRGGGHH!

Right, well, I'm off home with my aching arms. Have a lovely weekend ladies x

HumphreysCorner · 16/01/2009 15:00

Ay up Annie, you can actually click on the grin and it tries to direct you to a website. V. clever of you. Am off to get Emma now-hope she is OK.

Laters!

Morning all.

Took T for his pre-op orthoptist appt yesterday all fine. He is having his eye operation on his squint on Tuesday, and although I am fine about it now, I keep waking up in the night, and think I am going to be decidely flaky about it by Tuesday. Making the mistake of watching the new series of ER currently, where people keep dying in surgery and this week a mother was talking to her unconscious son telling him to be strong as if anything happened to him her world would stop. I know I'm a berk but can't help your mind going places. Have to take him to an intro to the ward this afternoon.

DH is on a major health drive, running, cycling, on a diet, and has lost 10 pounds since Christmas!!! I however have gained 4 pounds as not drinking in the evenings means I eat - and eat and eat - peanuts, Quality Street, just one more biscuit. Sigh. Am very proud to still be booze free though.

Work is crazy - had a meeting in Paris on Wednesday, up at 3.35am, caught a train at 4.58, Eurostar at 7.20! Got back at 11pm. Totally exhausting. Think....THINK...I may have my first deal soon so very excited about that.

AND - tatatataHHHHHH - work on my kitchen starts 16th Feb - knocking walls down, filling doors up, going to look at appliances this morning! To have a big Amercian double fridge after living with one with no door shelves in it after Harry pulled it off, so you have to stand all the milk up in front of the salad drawers will be pure luxury. NOT looking forward to the chaos while it gets done however, but trying to keep to the big picture.

Worst case scenario I shall move with the kids to my parents - which will be a nightmare. So things will have to get pretty bad for that to happen....

Waiting to hear fom schools too Annie - really hoping that H gets the church school I want him to go to...think we'll know by Feb....

Toby is in his Junior bed, and has been absolutely fine. God compared to what H was like, a total dream. Hasn't got out once, I don't think he realises he can! Helps that it is exactly the same size as his cot was, and he is on the same mattress.

Have had a major clear out, 3 wheeler buggy gone, cot gone etc. Will probably keep hold of the mcClaren buggy for trips into town, but T really doesn't need it.

Right, off to take H to his swimming lesson - I love it, as I sit and read, and look up and wave at the appropriate moments, bliss!

Hope all are well!

Bloss

Bloss-hope all goes well with the operation.

Well ladies, looks like I have been conned again on Ebay. Only time will tell but looking likely. This will be the 3rd and last time!

Hope all OK.

Hello Ladies.

HC, hope you are ok, IYKWIM...

Fab weekend, really enjoyed our night out on Saturday (didn't think I would really, what have me and DH got to talk about...)
The restaurant was really packed, but when we walked in the girl at reception we know as she also works at our local pub (I can't for the life of me remember her name though...) so she was all over us (in a nice way!) and her boss was quite impressed, so much so they didn't charge us for our second bottle of wine and even more so brought us another on the house and said we could take it home! I got dressed up and everything, I even dug out some jewellery! Felt strange, but goooood.

Managed to drag myself to church then on Sunday morning, DH couldn't quite cope with it, so I left the babes with him. I enjoyed the peace and the singing, but I must have been still drunk, cos I went and signed up to do Readings afterwards, and then had a chat with the vicar about whether or not it's appropriate to wear a hat when you go up for a blessing. He told me to go and get confirmed and I would learn all that (?) so I said I'm already confirmed, so he says then why don't you take communion, so I says because I'm Catholic and he says well we're happy for you to take it, but the pope wouldn't be, so I says I'd write to him and ask him, and he says No, don't, he'll just say no...

So if that doesn't get Joey into school, I don't know what will!! Trouble is I may have to go and receive communion now... feck! Now that really would be hypocritical

Bloss, best of luck with H's school, do you think there's a good chance of getting in?
Fair play to Toby and his big bed!! It's so funny when they don't realise they can get out by themselves!!
Best of luck for the op tomorrow, will be thinking of you.
And halfway there with the non-booze-fest!

Joey came into me this morning and says: Mammy, where's Mimi, she's not in her bed! So Mimi had been in earlier and DH had got up with her!! I love when that happens.
Less of the headlocks, more of the climbing out to do a poo, these nights.

Well I better go, there must be some work to do somewhere... x

HumphreysCorner · 19/01/2009 14:30

Lol Annie-will be joining those on the booze free cruise now I suppose. Drunk in church though Annie, naughty you.

A Governors note from Em's school has announced it will have to reduce intakes commencing 2010 which is when Sophie will start. Can't be trailing to 2 seperate schools so hope she gets in.

Hope all OK.

HC

AnnieAreYouOkAreYouOkAnnie · 19/01/2009 14:44

LOL HC!!! I don't think I was actually drunk, I just behaved as if I was, signing up to do Readings in front of everyone and CHATTING to the priest...

Is there a sibling rule at Emma's school? If so, then Sophie should get in first, no?

HumphreysCorner · 19/01/2009 14:54

Oh sorry Annie.

I do believe there is a sibling rule thank goodness!

Right, off to get Emma who seems much happier today.

Hi all.

Am very hopeful of H getting a place Annie, as when I went to visit the headmistress told me she had yet to turn a child away that was affiliated with a church, and as we are and had proved it with the signed letter I have got my fingers crossed. It's an amazing school, with an outstanding ofsted, the cook has an MBE for services to children FGS! 95% of the children eat the school lunches, and if you get in you automatically get a place at a very good Juniors school. Keeping everything crossed but won't hear until end of Feb!!!!

Thanks for best wishes for tomorrow, not looking forward to it. We have to be in at 7.30am, nil by mouth, so he is NOT going to be impressed.

Bloss

xx

PixelHerder · 19/01/2009 22:05

Hi Girls

ooh good luck for tomorrow Bloss - Tobes will be fine (horribly early start though ) How long will he have to stay in? Hugs to you all xx

What happened re the Ebay stuff HC? Hope you can get it sorted. Hope Emma's okay at school now, must be difficult when they're not keen to go.

Wow result with teh free wine Annie - you must be a charming couple Great that you had a fab relaxing evening out.

Re the school thing, we're fortunate in that there are no church schools in our direct catchment as they wouldn't be an option for us what with being agnostic (and crap actors!). The nearest pre-school has a primary attached and is supposed to be good, so she's booked into the pre-school from June.

Not much to report here, FIL is in hospital and not looking good, he's 84, a lifelong smoker with chronic circulatory problems My own health drive is not going terribly well - however I have discovered a new gym substitute - going to the soft play centre! As Emma's too little to go all the way round the 'circuit' on her own I've been climbing all round the damn thing like a lardy chimp, an hour of that and far too many long-disused muscles start to make their presence felt

Well better get off - Celeb BB to watch, hurrah! xxx

HumphreysCorner · 19/01/2009 22:24

Good luck for tomorrow Bloss. Will be thinking of you.

Pixel-sorry to hear about your FIL. In don't do any exercise but agree soft play can be a challenge. Emma went back to school fine today but since she came home she said how she won't be able to go to school tomorrow as she is too poorly. Don't know quite how to handle it.

Lost 2.5 lbs at WW and it was very, very busy. Am worn out!

Big wave.

Hi everyone

Hugs Bloss. Hope all went well for the Tobster, poor wee thing. I can imagine how stressed you are, though I'm sure he'll be fine...

LOL Annie at the vicar chat. Can just visualise it!!! Being a lapsed Catholic myself, I totally get the whole Pope-guilt thing!!! Tee hee. Glad you had a great night out with DH - those kind of nights should be compulsory for everyone!

Talking of schools and the like, I reckon we're going to go for the school round the corner from my work, which is Catholic (but "lite" apparently) - goes against all my Atheist beliefs - but it's a great school and I figure that I was brought up a Catholic and turned out alright (as did Annie!) and Ry will more likely turn away from religion if he goes to a religious school. I worry that if we push him the atheist way he'll turn into a right bible basher! It'll be much handier for schedules since I can drop him off and pick him up in line with my work schedule and apparently it came 16th in Madrid in the tables recently...

Sorry about your FIL Pixel. So sad... Love the idea of the soft play gym! ;-)

Don't eat spelt - can't get much here, Spin. But I guess I would, if I could. Hope the GF thing is going well - don't you feel much brighter, lighter and happier? LOL at Roshi and the sun looking at her!!! And bless you for thinking about missing the Chilt-ster. And wow at his "little nipper" class mate! What a hero.

Right Mrs HC - NO MORE EBAY!!! What a nightmare. Hope it gets sorted. And that Emma is ok with school again....

Ry has been v naughty at nursery - biting and scratching other kids. He hasn't wanted to go at all and talks a lot about his grandparents... poor love. But what can we do? Send him to the UK to stay with them indefinitely? I guess it's just an adaption period... it's only his second full week back at nursery... His nursery teacher was very cross at him today about it all. We've talked to him about it but it's hard to get through to a toddler...

Oh, and if anyone who isn't on FB fancies seeing our wedding pix... but don't feel obliged!

Right, love to all. Impy xxx

TheGoddessBlossom · 20/01/2009 21:00

Oh imps, gorge pix! Love the one of you dancing with Ry, and there are some truly super ones, you laughing etc. Lovely lovely dress. Sure Ry will move out of naughty phase...

Toby's op went fine, he has a very sore bloodshot eye and is very sorry for himself, but he was very brave and we were home by lunchtime. Whoever said early start, well yes it was, but ALL are starts are early!!! Worst bit was when he was given the anasthetic, they couldn't find a vein in his hand (too chubby) and he was screaming and thrashing about, so they had to use a mask. Then it was all "OK Mum, thanks then Mum" all very brisk, which basically means "Right outcha go love, you're in the way!"

Glad it's over although won't know for a couple of weeks whether he needs the other eye done too.....

Back tomorrow.

xxx
