hc - whether you were going to do it or not, it was none of her damn business, how rude. Nevermind what those strangers thought.

spin - do you mean baby no.4? god no only no.2 on the way. xmas cards sound v.cute

annie - hope mimi's sleeping is settling, sounds like shes a fan of anything pink so im sure she'll be easily pleased on xmas morning as long as its pink

well ladies, scan went fine, we've got a little boy on the way
Have to go back at 34 weeks for another scan as placenta was in low position so they want to check if its moved into correct position at 34 weeks. Started worrying when they said ive to get in touch if any bleeding but came home and did some investigating on mn and it seems most move into the correct position by the next scan so heres hoping.

FrostyTheSnowman · 13/12/2008 20:25

Beadmum-congrats on having a little boy. Don't worry at all about the placenta as I had this both times. The first time it moved by the next scan but with Sophie it didn't move right until the end. Like you I googled and scared myself when I found the words Placenta Previa (sp).

yay another boy beadmum i think boys are the best!!!

HC you did totally the right thing and it was none of the other woman's business. I had a checkout woman in tescos tell me the other day that she thought sam in the back was uncomfortable with that sleeping bag thing all tight on his head.....it was around him, not tight at all and he was wingeing because it was hot in the store - some people just don't know when it's none of their business

not much else to say here - just getting ready for christmas now, and trying to keep my cool when jacob just melts down wanting papa all the time.

OP posts:
ImpyChica · 14/12/2008 16:50

Hi everyone

Exciting news that you're having a boy, Bead! Try not to stress about the placenta thing - sure it's going to be fine.

Virtual high-five to Pixel for Emma's 20p pressie! Yeah!

Yeah HC - ignore silly busy-bodies - none of their business! Lovely pix of the girls!

Just one week to go now.... seems to get harder . Had our pre-wedding drinks in the flat last night (which we wouldn't have been able to do with Ry in residence, so that's one positive to having him with his grandparents). Had a great time but all my mummy friends said they couldn't leave their kids for so long, which made me feel like a mean mummy... but the fact is he's having a whale of a time in the uk I just hope he doesn't think I've abandoned him... he's fine when I speak to him on the phone and babbles about 'pretty lights' and stuff - I'm the one who gets upset...

Anyway, onwards and upwards! Hope everyone is great and enjoying the weekend.

Hugs, Impy x

RhinestoneReindeerHerder · 14/12/2008 22:06

Impy - sorry you're missing your boy, I'm sure he's having a whale of a time. It is lovely when they start to be able to have phone convos tho - DH has been away for work a bit recently and I usually put DS on the line for a minute or so. Good luck with all the last minute wedding prep

beadmum - I had low-lying placenta at 20 weeks scan too this time round, but rescan at 34 wks showed it had moved no probs. Congrats on the boy!

Weeell, life on the Rhinestone Ranch as been a bit crap this weekend. Yesterday we discovered that DH has shingles . He is feeling rough and it's not great timing as we're about to have a newborn in the house. Then today my best mate took DS for a trip to the zoo with her two. They had a whale of a time but DS fell in the car park just as they were leaving and was carrying his arm awkwardly. So followed a trip to A&E. He was fine, perked up after an hour or so, but my poor friend was distraught

Still, it's quite taken my mind off the fact that I'm due to drop in a week or so

p.s. Annie - my fellow sleepless friend, tell that young lady to Settle Down and let you get some decent shut-eye. Dom is pretty good now, but am gearing up for the next onslaught (altho I have put in an order for a sleeping one this time)

Talk soon ladies

thefortbuilder · 15/12/2008 08:21

hey rhinestone sorry to hear your dh has shingles. i bet he's feeling really poorly, and not just man flu poorly

impy you're sooooo not a mean mummy! Dh has refused to leave the boys overnight, which in turn has really irritated me as i'd love to have a couple of nights and days away, just us, having fun.

not much to report here - ceebee how's it going?

trying to get organised for christmas - after my fantastic start i am seeming to be running out of time - i just can't face all the wrapping of odd shaped gifts for jacob if i'm totally honest! dh's gifts are pretty much wrapped and i'm getting there with last few deliveries coming today and tomorrow.

OP posts:
FrostyTheSnowman · 15/12/2008 10:15

Rhinestone-that is rotten news about DH. Not long to go.

The latest drama in the HC house is that I got a new laptop (Chrissie Present from DH and myself) and after setting it all up I find the 8.9 inch screen way too small for my poor eyes. They can't focus and I was getting eyestrain. What an expensive mistake. DH will remove everything and try and restore the factory settings and then attempt to return it. Not looking likely though as you are allowed to open it but not use it and I have cut the silly velcro bit off the cable. Failing that there is Ebay or DH will keep it and I will have no Christmas Present this year. My fault really, should have gone for the next size up but it seemed OK in the shop.

Big wave to all and not long until the big day Impy.

How very annoying Frosty. Hopefully you can take it back....

I still have lurgy but getting better. At home pretty much all week by the looks of it which is lovely. Frank Sinatra is singing me "Have yourself a merry little christmas" - isn't that nice of him! Hope no-one rings me....

Christmas is nearly sorted - oh apart from all the food, about 8 presents, and most of the wrapping....

Took the boys (solo of course) to the Toy Service at church yesterday. Big mistake, they behaved atrociously - climbing under and over pews, throwing the cushions, pulling the seat carpet off, etc. Half way through Toby shouted "I need a poo!" then Harry points out that "Toby needs a poo!" at the top of his voice. Troop out, squat in graveyard, wipe ineffectually with a leaf, then have to go back in as left bag and coats etc. I wouldn't have minded but it was advertised as a toy service, so I bought a toy each for them to take, didn't wrap it as wasn't sure what it was for, got outside church and saw everyone else had wrapped theirs, so legged it into local shop and bought scissors, paper and sticky tape, wrapped them both, endured the screams of the boys when they realised they couldn't keep them etc. Then there was absolutely no mention of the toys in the service, apart from a clear indication of when to come up and put them on the altar. I was expecting the whole message behind the gift to be expressed, "Giving to those less fortunate" etc, but nope, not a single reference to why we were doing it or what it represented. Wish I hadn't bloody bothered.

Found it very difficult to get out of my bad mood all day after that, so the kids got roundly shouted at for minor misdemeanours, so feel bad. They fight over EVERYTHING it's so wearing....by the time we had got to bath time and they were fighting over who had the most bubbles at their end of the bath I had well and truly had enough. They were both in bed at 6.20pm....

Oh well, they still seemed to love their mummy this morning......

H is King 1 in his nativity play tomorrow!

Right I'll stop moaning now.

Bead, very excited you are having a boy, they are fun honestly!!!

thefortbuilder · 15/12/2008 17:11

o'h frosty that's a pain - hopefully you will be able to do something with it.

a really good friend of mine has had a baby girl today - stephanie mia, and she was bang on seven and a half pounds. must admit to a little happy crying (god i'm getting all sentimental the older i get!), and wondering hmmmm maybe we could ahve a third - we have the space, and could afford it, and i'm sure the pregnancy would be better this time around not sure what DH would say...

o'h bloss i have all this to come - we have pretty much the same age gap as you i think.

and your post reminds me of all the wrapping i havne't even started, and that since i changed laptops over i haven't sorted the ipod out or my christmas music list from last year which is probably lost now it was loads of songs that i never know the name to but were on a MN thread about it - wonder if it will be around somewhere...

anyway, must go and drop card and gift to my friend's husband - they live just round the corner.

Just realised this has dropped off my 'threads I am on' which means I haven't been posting much recently

Will try and catch up but apologies if I miss anyone!

Bloss sorry you are still feeling rough. And thanks for the insight into my life in 2 years time with 2 toddler boys to control....1 is bad enough at the moment! As you say, they still love you but I can only imagine how tiring it is trying to manage their behaviour!

Frosty grrrr about the laptop - how frustrating but you weren't to know were you? I hope you can get your money back. Your 2 girls are just lovely as well and Soph looks so grown up!!

Impy you are so not a mean mummy so don't even think it. You are only doing what you need to do and everyone needs some 'couple' time without the lo's. Plus there is a purpose for leaving Ry - it is not just because you felt like it is it??? Are you getting nervous yet??

Flick my DH is exactly the same and wouldn't even contemplate leaving Josh and Sam for a night so we could go away somewhere!! Plus, a 3rd child, really?? Very brave of you if you ask me - I am 99.9% sure that this is it for us as I really don't want to be pg again, plus we have no space and no money for a 3rd.

Rhinestone your poor DH - and what crap timing!! Fingers crossed the baby holds on until your Dh is back on the mend eh?

Beadmum congrats on the scan and the boy (as Flick said I am completely biased but boys are fab )

Hi to everyone else.

Things ok here - Sam has a cold which is pretty crap in a 3 week old!! He is not feeding much but seems ok (touch wood) - not sure what a doctor could do if I took him tbh.

Josh is pretty much back to his old self - yay!! Have had a much better weekend with very few tantrums, whinging episodes etc. and he has been happy for most of it (apart from a sudden aversion to baths - they are now spent in tears and screaming 'I want to get out' - fun!!)

It feels like Sam has been part of our family forever - it is like we have never not had him iyswim

TinselHerder · 16/12/2008 17:09

Hi Girls

CONGRATS on having a little boy Beadmum, lovely news

Hugs to you Impy, as you say it's much harder for you than Ry - I don't think they have much sense of time at this age, and are quite happy as long as they are being entertained by someone they're happy to be with. My DH has been away for a couple of days and Emma's been quite happy to believe that he's still 'gone out in the car to the shops'!

HC that woman sounds a bit barking - she may not even have been a real loo attendant, maybe she just hangs around in public toilets with a sponge so she can 'join in' with people's conversations Hope you're over it now. BTW re your laptop, is it that the screen itself is too small? If the 'writing' was bigger would that help? I know you should be able to adjust teh screen resolution so that it kind of 'zooms in' - obviously you may have to scroll around a bit more though depending on what you're looking at.

Spin - 7 hours, crikey, respect Hope you got in a few whiskeys in at the end of that!

Rhinestone - what a bugger re DH Hope he (and you!) can get some rest in.

Annie - glad you had a good time away, and lol at the pink chocolate cake! I've got visions of Mimi digging one out of her stocking and scoffing it in her jammies on Christmas morning

Bloss - sympathies on the wearingness, the church thing sounds like the last thing you needed Hope you're feeling better soon - get your feet up and your tummy round a nice vat of mulled wine girl!

Ceebee - aaaaaw re feeling like Sam's always been a part of the family - we'll I guess he's certainly been a part of the household for the last 10 months, anyway . Glad Josh is a bit happier now, it's bound to be an adjustment for him. Sympathies on the bath thing, Emma has such a hatred of them that she panics each morning until her trousers and shoes are on, and she's sure it's a 'no bath' morning.

Flick - considering another one - wow!! Have you run it by DH yet??

Sorry for monster post - I'll fill you in on our activities a bit later on

ImpyChica · 16/12/2008 21:33

Hi everyone

Thanks for all your lovely comments and hugs. This week has been much easier than last.... not long to go now! Hope you're all over lurgies and the like. Seem to be loads going around at the mo - I've got another sore throat while DP is hacking away on the sofa for the third week in a row.... (refuses to go to the doctor of course...)

Have u got pix of the nativity play, Annie - sounds v sweet! (and what about Emma in her curtains, HC?!)

And I was going to say the same as Pixel, HC - can you not change the resolution on the laptop? If you go into the control panel, then 'screen' you should be able to select a different view size which might be easier on your eyes...

Nightmare about your DH Rhinestone. Hope it clears up by the time (big sleeper) bubba no. 2 arrives! Glad Dom is sleeping better and having good chats with his daddy on the phone! It's so sweet to hear them chat away..

Flick and CB - haven't your dhs been away on work and left you alone with the boys? I'm sure I remember you saying they had.... can't believe you're not had a night off together with your fellas. It's so good for you!

That church thing sounds pants, Blossom. Rubbish!

V sweet to hear that Sam is so integrated in the family already CB - cute! Did you go shopping with him?! (and are you on a post-natal thread for Sam too? And still on the TTC one, to keep in touch with those peeps? I've always wondered how that works on MN - if you have loads of kids do you go on all the relevant threads to keep up with everyone?)

LOL Tinsel at Emma being fooled by 'dad's gone to the shops'!!! DP thought that was v funny too. My in-laws have been telling Ry that DP and i are at work - so I guess it's a similar thing!

Surely Muji will move Down Under at some point Spin - they've only just arrived in Madrid so I think they're pretty much set on world domination. Finger's crossed for you! It's my fave!!!

Hi to everyone else. I'll be married this time next week, gulp! Have a great Christmas if I don't get on again this week.

Hugs to all.

Impy xxx

FrostyTheSnowman · 16/12/2008 21:44

Did change the print size but it drove me mad with the scrolling. DH has restored it to factory settings and is attempting a return tomorrow (I think). I can't go with him unless I am in disguise and daren't buy anything from the shop again without a wig. Watch this space.

Not allowed to take pics of the school play sadly.

Went on the school trip to see Jack and The Beanstalk today as a helper and had a fab time. Was allowed to sit on the bus with Emma and in the theatre. She cried when we got back to school as she didn't want me to go so the school let me take her home early.

Impy-hope you all feel better soon. DH is dying of man flu and having not been to WW for 2 weeks I went on Monday to find one helper was getting over sickness bug and fluey thing. Am doomed!

Big wave to all at this busy time of year.

tistheCEEBEEtobejolly · 17/12/2008 08:12

Morning!

HC - fingers crossed your DH can manage to sweet talk them into a refund - how v annoying!!

Tinsel - we also use the 'daddys gone to work' line - in fact Josh thinks I still go to work when he goes to nursery (in my pyjamas )

Impy - woohoo, less than a week to go eh?? Well, if you don't get on to MN again, good luck and hope your wedding day goes smoothly, the sun shines and you all have a fantastic day . You are right about my DH - he goes away a lot with work but 'that is different' (apparently! )

The shopping trip was good - Sam slept all the time we were there!! Managed to get most of the shopping done but after 4 hours, I had had enough and was knackered so we are going into our local town tomorrow just to finish off...then I have to start the chore of wrapping everything up (I hate it!!)

Yes, I am also on the Nov 08 PN thread and the TTC thread - it is hard work keeping on top of all 3 tbh (hence why my postings on here have dramatically decreased recently )

Had a good night last night - Sam slept from 11 till the alarm went off at 6.45 with only one feed at 3.30ish (oh and the usual one interruption from Josh at 4 for his 'Thomas stories' - unfortunately what started as a good idea of having an audio CD on for him to listen to at bedtime is a bit of a pain now cos if he wakes in the middle of the night, he wants it back on which means I have to get up and do it.....grrr!)

Blossomingintoachristmasfairy · 17/12/2008 08:55

Morning all.

Had H's nativity play yesterday. Realised when I dropped him off in the morning that I was supposed to provide costume (no idea why I thought otherwsie, have always had to before!!!!) so legged it home and made one King hat, one Frankincense present and customised one Bob the Builder Dressing gown into a King's robe. Was bloody proud of myself I have to say, an he looked great!

And he sang a solo!! I didn't know he was going to and I cried! He was fantastic, two whole verses of "There's something specail going on" into the microphone on the stage all by himself! HC that's rubbish that you can't take pix, the woman did ask if anyone minded and no-one did so I managed to film him singing. Bless.

Then bunked off work and went xmas shopping for a couple of hours got loads done. There's only so much you cn do onlin, the little fiddly bits always need doing in person I find.

MUST do some work today.

Bloss

xx

thefortbuilder · 17/12/2008 10:01

totally agree with bloss it's rubbish no pics. they should just ask if anyone minds - bet no one will.

yay for the costume and H's solo bloss! i bet you were pretty much dehydrated at the end of it

well dh came home from work early as he too had a bout of man flu, but managed to run all the way home with jacob under his ar m. jacob then decided HE WAS NOT going to bed and got himself all hysterical and just wanted to cuddle papa. so of course by josh then going up there jacob knows if he cries and gets upset he gets what he wants. so josh went up there and read him a story and then i had to go up and put him into bed again (jacob not josh ), eventually.... but he slept pretty much all the way through.

and the other big news is i finally have to wear glasses - slightly long sighted but sitting at the laptop loads on the day is making my eyes really tired and straining them, so glasses will really help. off to look at frames today! hopefully they will make me look more intelligent

OP posts:
AnnieOneForMulledWine · 17/12/2008 14:18

Hello All...

Well after several weeks of Mimi being a PITA, not going to bed, not staying in bed, not sleeping at all, waking a million time, screaming her head off... the last two nights she woke only once and last night
DRUMROLL PLEASE!
She slept through!!!!!!!!!!!

She came in our bedroom this morning, about 7.30 and just stood next to me. Joey (who has been waking recently ) was in our bed (he's such a good sleeper I could keep him in our bed forever!!) tapped me on the shoulder and pointed at her! I think he had to do it three times before I realised she was there!!

She's been much better behaved the last three days as well (since I've been back at work ) though she can still throw a spectacular tantrum if I give her the wrong coloured spoon... I've been a mean bad mammy, I can't seem to tolerate her crying at all - as soon as she starts, in my head, I'm saying 'F'sake, shut UP', and I know now that telling her she's waking everyone up and 'OMG I just ASKED you if you wanted a drink' is completely beyond her. DH is great, he'll coax and tell her stories to calm her. I just threaten to dump her out in the garden or tell Santa not to bring her any presents...
So I'm trying to be a better mammy by not telling her off every second. She's still extremely clingy as well, just wants to be ON me all the time.
Thank F*ck for work!!

Beadmum, congrats on your boy!! How lovely!!

HC, we were allowed to take photos at our play, but only at the end. People were allowed to film, but not flash photography during it. I will try and post some pics later, though they are a bit fuzzy (from the sneaky ones taken from far away!!)
Joey has since been blasting out the songs from the play any time a star/shepherd/Jesus/donkey/king is mentioned! We were at church on Sunday and the school put on a mini nativity as well during the mass (in place of the gospel bit) and the three kings were walking up the aisle following a bit star on a stick with a guy behind shining a big light on it, and again, Joey burst into song (the church was all quiet) 'I see a star, deep in the night in the staaaaable. Jesus was born for Yoooooooooooooo and meeeeeeeee'

I was knotted, and I couldn't stop him!! All the old ladies were looking round at us...

Bloss what a star Harry is, singing all on his own!! Brilliant!

Impy, excited for you, building up to the Big Day!! Lots of Luck and Love for that soon-to-be-Missus!!

Flick, I know how you feel about Jacob and his behavior, it sounds VERY familiar.

Rhinestone, fingers crossed for you!! Hope DH is better in time for the arrival of Good-Sleeping-Baby!!

Hello to everyone else, I must go really and so some work before I leave early for some DREADED Xmas shopping...

x

FrostyTheSnowman · 17/12/2008 16:52

Annie-looking good in the snooze department. Long may it last!

flick-welcome to the world of glasses.

Bloss-I would have had another nervous breakdown over the costume. It has been bad enough and I didn't even make the curtains. Well done!

We were told at the beginning of the play absolutely no pics as a parent governor type person was filming and the local paper was taking pics.

DH has restored the laptop to factory settings and we have carefully packed it away-looks mint apart from the velcro cable tie I cut off. But.....I have to go with him on Friday as he said if he is going to jail then I am going with him. If we get shop vouchers I am doomed as they haven't any 10.2 inch laptops in store-loads in PC World so will attempt to get the cash less 10% restock fee. The drama continues.

Must get some tea on but really can't be bothered but the girls are hungry.

Love to all.
