Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
AprilMeadow · 24/07/2008 21:28

Scootini that is not good.. poor dd's - how long does it last? I dont know how you manage to juggle so many different things all at once!

JAM thank you for my card - very cute Archie hand prints

Lups how are you?

OI JAFFA WHERE ARE YOU????

JamInMyWellies · 24/07/2008 21:46

Oh scoot the poor girls on the upside you might not have to go on family hol.

I think you can give them similtanously, as long as you dont go over the recommneded amount of either. I think.

Elki tel DP to feck off take yourself to bed and rest for the next 2 days.

TheGreatScootini · 24/07/2008 21:49

Up to 10 days from day one that the sores came out (today)
I dont do any of them well though AM .In fact I was heard to say to the commissioner for Islington Social services today that I believed I was possibly about to collapse in a quivering heap..I think I may have shared too much there given that in effect she is trusting me with the lives of 10 vulnerable adults and the success of a flagship community project. She did not look at me with the light of confidence in her eyes

Tell DH to get up there and sort the baby out Elkie..If you arent supposed to lift, then dont you lift..thats an order!

MKG · 25/07/2008 00:30

Jam--No I go to see the Midwife on Tuesday. I'm so excited that my new insurance covers the midwife group that delivered ds1. I feel so much more comfortable. I hated the ob/gyn I had with ds2. They were nice, but I justed didn't like them very much.

Well Mateo went on the airplane today. My mom said that he got really scared as he walked in and said he'd rather go in the car. But once he got his seatbelt on and the plane took off he loved it. She said the more the plane shook during turbulance the more he laughed and said, "This is a fun ride grandma". Then he fell asleep on the second flight, but she said he went running on the plane because he was so excited for another ride.

Pinkjenny · 25/07/2008 09:57

Scoot - bloody hell. You are a saint, seriously, I don't know how you do it. Poor dds though.

MKG - So at Mateo saying he'd rather go in the car, my sentiments exactly. But not so much with the turbulence.

AM - [email protected]

Text from LG&T that she asked me to post:

"TYG looked fantastic. Lovely bump and Aoife was so sweet. She made scones, lovely warm lamb mint salad and fecking fab victoria sponge. She has stolen my title ."

Blardy hell TYG - stop putting the rest of us to shame with your victoria sponge whilst 9 months preggers!!!

L is, I fear, becoming a little spoilt. She is well into the terrible twos at 14mo. Worrying.

I didn't mean to suggest that you were all drugging your los btw. Just merely professing that medised every night wasn't really the answer to a sleep ishoo. Not that I have the answer, as you know. I go to bed at 7pm in case L falls out.

Oh, and dh is doing my nut in.

AbbyLou · 25/07/2008 10:14

Morning all.
Scoot, sorry to hear L and M are both poorly. It's a horrible thing hand, foot and mouth. You can definitely give calpol and nurofen 2 hourly apart, that is what we were told when R was poorly last week.

TYG you are amazing. I can't manage a Victoria sponge when I'm not pregnant! C and I did manage to make cookies for all his teachers as a thank you present but that is about my limit!

The weather looks as though it may turn this weekend so we are enjoying today. I have a friend coming round this afternoon and her los are exactly the same age and sexes as mine so it should be fun. C wants the paddling pool out so looks like I'll be blowing my brains out trying to inflate that. We have got one of those massive ones but it takes so long to put it up and fill it that we hardly ever bother. By the time we've done it we get about 2 days out of it and then it starts to rain!!

twelveyeargap · 25/07/2008 10:40

Hello

Scoot - Very sorry that the girls are ill. What a horrid thing to get.

I am sulking because DH left behind the sodding cupcakes I made for him and his colleagues. I wonder can you freeze them? Will post on the cooking forum and see.

Incidentally, victoria sponge is easy, so LG&T flatters me. Whatever the recipe says about adding the eggs, ignore it and beat the eggs separately, like mad until really airy, then add them gently in stages, alternating with the flour. Helps make the sponge fluffy. Also, exchange 25g of the self raising flour for corn flour.

Midwife just been. Everything fine apart from the fact I feel like I have a baby's head jammed in my pelvis. Also have developed the absolute worst piles. TMI sorry, but really, they are appalling. Over the counter remedies are useless. Midwife unsympathetic. "They'll disappear after the baby comes." Oh thanks a lot. And she made me a "post dates" appointment. I'm only 39+5. OK, so the consultant appt isn't until the 5th August, but still... I am not feeling the love right now.

Went out for dinner with DH last night for our anniversary. It was very nice, but with the sore backside, swollen feet (I knew the heat would get me in the end) and the huge belly, it wasn't quite as lovely as to make the effort worthwhile.

Can you tell I'm in a baaaaaad yoooomer today? Grrr, arrrgghh. Somebody come and put me everyone else out of their misery and sedate me until I go into labour.

fourlittlefeet · 25/07/2008 11:07

tyg you can freeze them (usually un-iced though).

try savalon for piles

L also being a little madam at the mo, can't plan anything as I never know when she will deign to sleep and whether in her cot or pram. uggh. And have managed to break our Jane pram at the lovebox festival so either need to buy double now and push it around with one baby, or another single for 6 months. grr.

am lurking but grumping so trying not to post too often!

TheGreatScootini · 25/07/2008 11:09

Oh dear TYG..Im sorry the weather has not been kind to you.London is like a farking oven when its hot.It cannot be comfy at all.My sympathies..Let me know if there is anything you need.I mean it.I am only half an hour away.
And get yourself a large pack of ice poles..its the only way
I think you can freeze cupcakes..sure my Mum does it..

L up all night again so I am like a Zombie today. Her mouth is full of white sores, and they are coming out on her lips and chin now.She is very uncomfy and hot and will only eat lollies..think they cool the sores a bit.Poor girl..she is too uncomfy to sleep but knackered..(she keeps rubbing her face on mine which would be nice if it werent for the fact that im pretty sure I will be coming out in boils any time )
M is ok, just sleepy and a bit grumpy-but it doesnt seem as bad with her..

DH himself has said maybe we wont be able to go tomorrow which is good as I was expecting a row.

M awake. Will go and get her up.Will polish saintly halo >snort< on the way

twelveyeargap · 25/07/2008 11:43

O Scoot. The poor things and poor you with no sleep.

Any chance of fixing the Jane, FLF? DH said Lovebox was brilliant, so I hope it was worth it for you! I know what you mean about the double with one baby. I've been dying to take mine for a spin, but feel silly with one baby in it. Something like the Mamas and Papas Nipi is light, suitable from birth and not very expensive (not until you buy the sun and rain cover anyway!). I bought one on the basis that if I take either child out alone, then I don't have to take the massive double with me.

Did I mention that yesterday afternoon was the first time I've sat down and thought, "There isn't a single thing to do that can't wait," and felt really relaxed. Sat in the garden and played with A for ages without thinking "I really should do the next load of laundry." Knew that DH's colleague one of two was back at work after a being sick for a few days and colleague two was back from his business trip. "Great, I can have this baby any time." I thought. DH informs me over dinner last night that colleague two is on holiday for two weeks from Monday because, "You were so late having A, we thought it would be fine." I'm buggered aren't I? That was the kiss of death to having the baby on time. (Of course if he does come soon, it means DH will be popping in and out of the office instead of taking a week off. Tsk.)

Have put cooling gel pack in the fridge. May wait until the cleaner goes home before inserting into pants and sitting on it.

fourlittlefeet · 25/07/2008 12:12

Scoot that does sound nasty. Apparently they have it in Hackney too. lovely.

Nipi looks great! Am try to get JuicyLucy's hubby to fix the jane; the axel is bent, otherwise a little one like that would be ideal. thing is... the jane IS my lightweight/ take on holiday buggy but its been so useful I think I've overdone it (bags of shopping/veg boxes). Actually what happened is that the organic bread stall at the lovebox gave away all their bread at the end of the day, so my mum was given around 12 loaves, which all got hung on the Jane . it didn't like it one bit.

Manu chao were fab though! BF'd through human league and groove armarda trying to get L down before MC. Needless to say the little tyke refused to go to bed. She hears music and wants to be up dancing. She is the spit of my Mum, I swear. Bodes ill for teenagerhood.

fourlittlefeet · 25/07/2008 12:13

have dodgy image of tyg maiming herself with icy poles . do be careful!

TheGreatScootini · 25/07/2008 12:25

Its amazing the effect a nice ice pole can have I'll tell you...[Grin]

fourlittlefeet · 25/07/2008 12:33

oohhh....runs away from thread feeling very squeamish!!!

SKYTVADDICT · 25/07/2008 13:26

I know how you feel TYG - piles killing here too! TMI but I told DP the other night that they hit the floor of the bath before the rest of me .

DD1 had her tooth out and we had a manic day shopping trying to find her clothes, then go the Building Society as she had lost her cash card, then go back to her friends where she slept for her phone charger. I wasn't best pleased when she "found" her cash card last night whilst looking for something else! Anyway they have gone now for 5 days so C and I are having a taking is easy day.

He is so very wingy, has spots on his tongue again - seems to be a regular occurrence. He is in bed now and I want to rest too but have a few jobs to get on with.

Baby Sky can come now - I haven't got a lot else on for the rest of the summer!

Bad news on the hand, foot and mouth Scoot and poor L & M. Apparently most of us will have had it as children so fingers crossed for you. I did get in when DD1 had it and it was very painful.

TheGreatScootini · 25/07/2008 15:14

Yuck yuck..Ls mouth looks worse now and her feet and hands-the blisters have really come up.I cannot believe that medical science hasnt found something to deal with this, it looks foul, (I know I am going to get it), and poor L is in real pain
Both asleep at the moment..

My friends DS's have got it now too..so if the worst comes to the worst we can be in quarantine together..I hate being trapped in the house..

DH has just called to say he is helping his mate move house after work (the same friend he has helped to move 4 times already in the last 6 weeks)Blardy hell..here I am stuck with two sick kiddies and all the holiday packing to do if we are going (which is a thankless task if you are dreading going anyway) and there he is messing about helping to move someones golf clubs and the like.Tch.

To be fair though he did find out he's PASSED his exam this morning!Hurrah..

So now it will be college 3 nights a week and every other weekend till November when he has his finals..buggery.Had better get used to being on my own with these kids really then..You can all get your calenders out ladies as I will be up for any amount of weekend visiting!

elkiedee · 25/07/2008 16:59

Scoot, why is your dh's mate moving house so much?

Eek at all those weekends alone with the kids Scoot.

AprilMeadow · 25/07/2008 17:35

Congrats to your dh on passing his exams You are more than welcome at Meadow Towers, day trip, overnight visit etc etc

TYG & Sky i feel for you both with the heat and the delightful piles. I hope that the babies make their appearances soon for you both.

Sweet lord, i have just given Ella a choccie yogurt for pudding and i think she may have had one mouthful and has managed to cover herself in the rest (see pic on profile)

twelveyeargap · 25/07/2008 18:44

Scoot, I wonder were L's horrid tantrums the other day, the start of the virus? She probably felt unwell for a couple of days before anything came up.

Also, am reading that the sores are often gone in 3-5 days and that if adults catch it, it's usually very mild. Hopefully it won't be as bad as you think!

Great news about DH's exams.

TheGreatScootini · 25/07/2008 20:31

Yes..think they must have been TYG(hope so)Now feel very guilty for giving her a hard time!

She has just managed a piece of toast which is all she's eaten all day except ice lollieS but was wincing throughout. Not going to sleep despite a (legitimate dose of Medised so think she is in some pain)

DH clearly thinks we will be setting off as planned at 8am tomorrow as he is chasing me to pack.We will see...I am not carting L on a 5 hour car ride if she is not well.If the worst comes to the worst he will have to take M and go on his own and I will follow on when L is a little better..honestly someones arm would practically have to fall off before he concedes that the plans might have to change.Tis because he's scared of his family.Rightly so as they are not all there.

My one nice SIL is already there and has texted as to the state of play. One squabble over shopping already and she has taken to walking her smallest DS around the village (2 houses and a post box) endlessly to get out of the way.I do not see this week going well However DH assures me there is broadband access so I am taking the laptop..I wont miss any babies arriving and will at least be able to come on here to scream

Im not much looking forward to DH's forthcoming college days Elkie TBH..but its all about planning..and foisting myself on anyone that'll have me

PJ has admitted a rather hefty teen telly addiction that nearly rivals mine on another thread.Who knew?!Watch out ladies..we may start talkiing in an OC inspired code to fox you all

JamInMyWellies · 25/07/2008 20:41

evenin,

scan was great all cool with mini munch got some great views of his/her feet and legs and a fab piccie to bring home. Thankfully no repeat of last time as placenta is in the right place woohoo.

TYG, SKY god poor you, really feel for you I still have not got rid of them properly from last time and they rear (har har) their head all the time. Not the most romantic of occasions when you have to as your DP to see how much is hanging out your bum.
