scorpio1 · 08/08/2008 15:18

OK, thanks

Denny185 · 08/08/2008 15:20

Youve got to be crackers, imagine a baby when Millie is only 13 months old

SalLikesCoffee · 08/08/2008 15:21

Scorpio, mine's started as well, and it's not regular yet - maybe it takes a while to settle?

Sagitta, I realise this might seem a bit much coming from someone who mix feed myself, but I don't seem to find that he sleeps longer on formula - my dh is convinced he sleeps better when he's breastfed before he goes to bed. It might be because he's "drunker" to start off with, I don't know. However, I've heard lots of people saying the contrary, so it might just be him. I'm so glad that you've at least have some kind of decent sleep session, really hope it gets easier for you.
On the water issue - a friend of mine has started weaning (her baby's 2 months older), and struggled getting him to take enough fluids, as he refuses water most of the time. Then we tried giving him rooibos tea (my sister sent me a packet of "Baby Rooibos", but I'm convinced it's the same as normal, just each bag packed separately), and he loves it! It's caffeinne free and healthy, so you could try that if you wanted?

MommyHasaHeadache, when are you seeing the specialist again? I can only just imagine, but it sounds awful, I hope they can sort it soon.

It's weird/interesting how everyone's babies are changing by the day. They're becoming "proper" little people now, I find it brilliant how they have definite preferences etc already.

scorpio1 · 08/08/2008 15:22

lol, it would be fine. We use condoms about 75% of the time - i have had told DH he knows what can happen and he says yes thats fine (even nice), so we are happy with that. We dont want to actively ttc yet but wuld be happy with an accident also. Takes me forever to get pg anyway!

Denny185 · 08/08/2008 15:29

Most of the time I dont mind the small age gap between DD2 and DS I just find it hard when were out and she needs feeding. I either have to go to small playgrounds where I know he can manage independently and hope some numpty kind soul dosent open the gate for him, or I have to strap him in the buggy for the duration which he is obviously pleased with.

scorpio1 · 08/08/2008 15:30

What's your gap? I would like another (last one) before Mimi is 2.

Denny185 · 08/08/2008 15:31

I love this weather, DD2 has been asleep in the garden for 3 hours now , spent my time v wisely drinking coffee, playing with other 2 and reading book, suppose I ought to think about tidying up and cooking dinner.

Denny185 · 08/08/2008 15:31

Sorry x post - 19 months

Denny185 · 08/08/2008 15:33

Def found it much easier, energy wise, with the 4 year gap but I hope they get on and play well as Aeryn gets older.

scorpio1 · 08/08/2008 15:33

that sounds nice denny ds1 hit ds2 so is now in his room. its raining here so not garden weather.

My friend had 22 months between hers.

DS2 starts school in Sept 09 - would love a new baby at xmas time next year - Mimi would be 20 months.

scorpio1 · 08/08/2008 15:34

I like my 3.6 year gap between J & M, but want the next one closer to get it all done at once iyswim, in a nice way!

Denny185 · 08/08/2008 15:40

Yes there is the advantage of still having nappies, stair gates etc.

Weve been lucky the last few days, only a few showers but nice and warm inbetween. Took kids to local farm this am, normally charge £1 each to go on play area but the cheeky buggers have put it up to £2 for the hols and no longer allowing picnics!

MonMoo · 08/08/2008 21:41

Hi all - can I join you? Better late than never! Had my 2nd dd on 21st April and have just discovered the joys of mumsnet. First dd is 3. Have just read quite abit of this thread so feel like I know some of you already!

SalLikesCoffee · 08/08/2008 22:04

Hi MonMoo, and very welcome! Everyone here is lovely and I'm sure you'll feel at home immediately.

SalLikesCoffee · 08/08/2008 22:09

I got my baby signing dvd from Amazon today and is itching to try it out, but DH watching tv... Can't wait to see how it is tomorrow. My ebay purchase(s) - the bouncer(s) haven't arrived yet, really can't wait. It's been a while since I bought stuff, so this now feels a bit like christmas, hehe.

No other news here really. How was everyone's days?

MonMoo · 08/08/2008 22:14

Thanks for the welcome. Its funny, I posted once on mumsnet about 3 years ago and got no reply and then forgot all about the site. Posted again for the 2nd time ever tonight (on AIBU) and got loads of helpful supportive responses and am now a complete convert!

MonMoo · 08/08/2008 22:18

Have had rubbish day BTW - got v upset at my MIL insensitive comments about me stopping bf - see AIBU thread, sorry not clever enough to know how to link to another thread....
Hope baby signing works for you - not something I've ever tried but I do have friends who've been to classes.

SalLikesCoffee · 08/08/2008 23:04

here's your link. What an insensitive thing for her to say. Glad you got loads of replies on there, it helps having someone to talk to. Hope you feel better now.

I'm gutted - I thought it was my baby signing dvd that arrived, but it's not, it's just a signing and rhymes one that I also got to keep us entertained when it rains... Guess should also be ok, but I've been really looking forward to this arriving! Oh well. A couple of the women on here (I know Scorpio did it as well, and I think Ladybee went the other day) has done baby signing and also liked it.

Spoke to a friend (the one with the 6 month old baby) today, and she said she's been to loads of baby activity classes. It's quite nice in that I can take her tips on what is really good and what not, but it did make me feel guilty, as I don't really like to plan my time with Roelof, so haven't really gone to many things. The upside is that he seems to like my singing and dancing, but it's only because he doesn't realise how bad it is in comparison! (Might hide him from the outside world so that he can continue thinking his mom's cool...)

MommyHasaHeadache · 09/08/2008 08:54

I went to a sing and sign summer taster class the other day Sal and it was great! They do say though that the youngest a baby can start is about 6 months. We will be going to the class in January - can't wait! I like to have activities planned, but this last week just went out the window - her main activities were sitting on the bed with me looking at picture books! Couldn't really do much more - oh and getting her innoculation - sure she loved me for that activity!

Welcome MonMoo! And you are totally not being unreasonable in feeling upset with your MIL. Your health is important too and al least you have breastfeed her this far - which was more that I managed to do. I bet she has never had a migraine in her life and just doesn't understand how awful they are. Chin up chickie - you are doing the right thing and you know it.

Off to Wimbledon today to visit my sister and meet up with a friend I have been friends with for 20 years while DH goes to the cricket... although not sure how much he will see of it as it is meant to be really wet later.

SalLikesCoffee · 09/08/2008 11:20

Hope you have a lovely day, MommyHasaHeadache!

R was up last night from 1 to 3, refusing to sleep. I feel as if I was hit by a truck... I think he's suitably exhausted now, so will see if I can get him to have a proper nap before the boys go out. I've just expressed a bottle and can't think of anything else that has to be done first, so guess I should start with the dreaded paperwork. Urgh.

MonMoo · 09/08/2008 12:03

Poor you, sleep deprivation is an awful thing isn't it?! I keep chanting to myself "it is not forever, it is not forever"! Me & dd2 had a lie in this morning together so am not feeling too bad today. Love waking up and seeing her little face next to me!

Denny185 · 09/08/2008 12:07

Welcome mommoo, sorry youve been having a shitty time, hope it gets sorted one way or the other for you.

LOL Sal bet u have a whole heap of DVDs starting to mount up, have u got the baby einsteins, DD2 and DS love them (allows me 20 mins to mumsnet do housework).

Well in stark contrast to yesterday it is peeing it down today, we did go up to local lake for walk and feed ducks but gave up after 30 mins as the rain was starting to come down sideways. Choices for later, baking cakes, face painting or painting all of which involve mess .

Denny185 · 09/08/2008 12:08

Really should read through b4 pressing post - Monmoo not mommoo

MonMoo · 09/08/2008 12:36

ha ha ha mommoo would've been better! I know, it is v difficult entertaining small people in the rain isn't it. We have already got paint all over the kitchen and all over dd1s feet. Left her in the room alone while put dd2 to bed and came back and she was sitting in the toy box (a large wooden chest) gluing feathers to the inside of it and painting her feet red. That'll teach me....
