hi annobal

or should I say G'Day Sport now?

how are things? Settled in to the new house yet?

when I saw your new name, the "bald" bit in the middle really jumped out at me...sorry

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 08/07/2008 11:15

Oooo annobal! Did you sense I was talking about you?

Hope you and your boys are well and sorry the weather is shitty! It has been pissing it down for days here and it's freezing...it's July FFS. Global warming my arse!

Where are you living now?

annobaldownunder · 08/07/2008 11:17

Daisy, how are the nappies going? Have you started your website yet? What was the name of the nappy company in oz you sent me (and I lost)? Surprisingly anything organic or green here is hideously expensive so am thinking of doing the reusable nappy thing.

downunderannobal · 08/07/2008 11:22

G'day cobbers (don't know if that name's any better !

We're all moved in and settling in nicely. Great to be away from dps even though they were great, things did get a bit strained.

Am slowly painting and will finally have blinds tomorrow. We still have no possessions and am hoping the ship hasn't gone astray in the storms .

Bumperlicious · 08/07/2008 11:35

Hi all

Hey annobal! Glad you are doing ok.

DH has still got D&V, I have had to take the day off work. DD and I are couped up as it keeps flash showering here and I cannot be arsed dragging her out in the rain. I am pissed off at having to take the day off. I know I should be sympathetic to DD but he just got in a real huff with because I had to go and get some clothes and DD followed me in, trying to get on the bed, so I am still in my PJs and getting cranky at being off work and stuck in the house.

annobal · 08/07/2008 11:56

Bumper - poor you.

justbeme · 08/07/2008 12:11

Hello all and Annobal too!!!! Welcome back - glad you're settling in ok.

Well I hung my washing out in glorious sunshine and now its REALLY peeing down -

Am going to get LO weighed today and have to go to work ( whats that??!!) to get a uniform fitted - yikes - I may also walk into the call centre and see if I recognise anyone (will take Lo with me for the 1st time). Scaryyyyy!!
Start back on 22nd.

annobal · 08/07/2008 12:16

Good luck JBM!

I'm off to bed - nothing on tv and it's cold (yes, really).

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 08/07/2008 12:18

Hi all. Poor you Bumper, I hate being stuck in the house.

I'm at work today, as have to go take minutes in ameeting this afternoon. Feeling a bit woozy still, though thankfully my digestive system seems to have settled itself down. But I am a bit worn out from it all. Had a fab day out yesterday though, me & my Dad took Jamlet to Pizza Express and the rainforest place near us and she was on top form all day. My Dad can't get over how good she is. She started dancing last night, which is the first time I'd seen it, swaying along to music on the TV. very cute And she's really getting good at shuffling round the house now, she made it from the living room through the hallway, dining room and into the kitchen this morning to follow me to get some breakfast.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 08/07/2008 12:20

Sorry should have said hi Annobal, and good luck to JBM for the 22nd. Sorry, I read through everyone's posts from last night and this morning, but my brain is really struggling to take stuff in at the moment. This meeting I'm at this afternoon is going to have the worst minutes EVER!

justbeme · 08/07/2008 12:22

Thats ok Jammy!
Oh forgot to say that L is walking across the room on her own with her push along walker!!
Although she fell sideways when i wasnt looking (bad Mummy!) and bumped her head.
Right off for lunch!!

HellHathNoFury · 08/07/2008 12:25

Hello Annobal, glad you are doing ok in Sunny SA!

Daisy - I use Halo'n'horns routinely, I have been recommending them forever but no-one listened. They are fab.

annobal · 08/07/2008 12:28

Hi Fury, hi Jammy. Still not gone to bed - got looking at fabric for curtains for the kids rooms. I am without t'internet forever and this is the best I can do . Off to look at Halo'n'horns now...

HellHathNoFury · 08/07/2008 12:34

Annobal you must tell me what the cost of living is like out there right now - we have heard it's dead expensive and not sure if we can afford it

annobal · 08/07/2008 12:42

It has really struck me how expensive things are here. Earnings are about half (just substitute the £ for $), but we don't seem to spend as much and are not paying out for other 'big ticket' things (like school and nursery). Lifestyle def better - more stuff to do outdoors and for free. But overall, def more expensive.

Exciting Fury - you still thinking of coming out? Please do! It's not that expensive...

DKMA · 08/07/2008 12:45

I'm working from home today and dh is taking a day's leave to sort out jobs about the house and garden - I think we might be getting divorced by the end of the day - as he is a fucking arsehole

Just thought I'd share that with you all.

As you were!

annobal · 08/07/2008 12:47

LOL DKMA - what's he done?

HellHathNoFury · 08/07/2008 12:54

We'd love to but it's all about career and cost. DH has less work opportunities out there (as do I) and our salary would be so much lower, with more limited professional opportunities.

We love the lifestyle and know that the education system etc out there is better, it would be great for DS, but selfishly I suppose we do worry about our own career stuff.

Also, with my family being in the UK, we aren't sure we can afford to visit the UK very often on an aussie salary. It's hard enough visiting IL's on a UK salary

DKMA · 08/07/2008 12:56
  1. Spayed weed killer all over raspberry bush because he 'doesn't like the thorns' (and thats what I cought him doing so god knows what else will be dying by tomorrow)

  2. Refuse to put crap in the skip that we have hired and have sat on front drive saying that he 'wants to take it to the skip' meaning the local tip - thinking that I won't figure out that there is a Mcdonnalds near there that he is planning to visit! Even going as far as taking stuff out of the skip that I have put in!?

  3. Having done a list last night of all the important jobs - he has done about 2 of them and has wasted hours on weed killing everything thats growing and fucking about with his car, oh and eating crumpets and drinking tea.

  4. Right at this moment is sat in living room drinking tea and eating pate on fresh bread

I have locked myself in my office because everytime I catch sight of him I want to yell 'you fucking useless lazy wanker' and I know that would be counter productive!

How are you?

HellHathNoFury · 08/07/2008 13:00

DKMA - YABU.

Any man that will GO THROUGH A SKIP to retrieve shit to then take to a tip because of a McDonalds close by... Brilliant.

You couldn't make it up.

DKMA · 08/07/2008 13:02

I know - it's calssic and quite innovative - I'll give him that!

annobal · 08/07/2008 13:03

Fury - will email you later...

DKMA - well done on keeping calm! I think I would have blown at 2 . Things are really good here, thanks. ALl the better for being online finally! Definitely has its ups and downs though - we've both been massively homesick at times and finding Adelaide, although lovely, very small.

HellHathNoFury · 08/07/2008 13:06

A man that will go to those lengths for a sneaky big mac - I have to applaud him really.

Sorry to hear about all the other stuff, but that one has had me, DH and my colleagues in stitches

Annobal - look fwd to it

DKMA · 08/07/2008 13:10

He thinks I haven't figured out what he is doing .

I've just heard the back door going - it might be safe to leave my office now and peek out the window at what he's doing now!

Probably stood in front garden picking his nose

DKMA · 08/07/2008 13:12

Well bugger me - he has a yard brush in his hand and he is actually moving his limbs???

I must get back to my work!
