SL - nappy is great (if i do say so myself )
will def make more, tho maybe a little bigger, to last roo a bit longer.
am now the proud owner of lengths of orange, yellow & turquoise fleece, to line my mad smiley faces pul. you shd def get nappymaking...if you can spare the time, it's quite rewarding really, i felt oddly proud of myself having made this little nappy thingy . ahhh, being a mum, it's a different world

roosmum · 16/05/2005 16:50

& hello all feb mums!
how are LOs doing?
can't believe ds is almost 15 weeks...where has the time gone??? tho it also seems like he's always been here & that life before ds is a hazy memory! but in a GOOD way

gossifer · 16/05/2005 20:08

hello roosmum and all mums
just took the little one swimming for the 1st time (12.5 weeks) held him on his tummy and he loved it! what fun there is to come.....

roosmum · 16/05/2005 20:47

wow gossifer, swimming
i can't wait to take roo swimming, think he'll love it! has 2nd imms tomorrow , he's gonna hate it (& his daddy, who holds him for the evil injection...& roo wouldn't even LOOK at him for the rest of the day after his first lot), but at least then we can go swim!

Looking forward to taking ds swimming too. Trouble is, got to take him while dd is at nursery, and then not tell dd how we've spent our morning, or she'll be very jealous! She misses swimming.

ALthough now ds is 3mo, he can go in the creche at the leisure centre while I take dd in the pool. Wonder if the creche would let me swap over children halfway through the session so they both get a turn in the pool? With me wandering in and out dripping...

I didn't realise children would be this complicated!

starlover · 16/05/2005 22:43

roosmum... i think i shall try and make a nappy now then too! did you use a pattern? I figured I could just cut out a piece of greaseproof paper the same shape as his fuzzi bunz....
WE only have an old singer sewing machine, one that you have to turn the handle on the end LOL... could be interesting!

Am also looking forward to taking DS swimming. He adores his bath, so think he will enjoy it. WE've only had one set of imms done so far so won't be for a while yet!

roosmum · 17/05/2005 10:23

hello everyone...i have to share this...after saying a firm 'no' to one all day sat, it turns out that dh secretly ordered a zapp buggy (blue), which just arrived...excited phone call to him & i find out that it was meant to be a surprise
he's sooo lovely! he's fab!
(& after i told him how mean he was all weekend for saying 'no chance' to the zapp )
roo's still a bit small for it (6+ months buggy), but can't wait till we can use it!

starlover - go on make a nappy! you'll be so proud of it noticed your pic of little linus on profiles - he's a real cutie!

roosmum · 17/05/2005 10:24

SL - do you have an urban detour giraffe? thought i cd see one in your pics of ds??
if you do, we have one too - i love it!

roosmum · 17/05/2005 10:37

& on the nappy pattern thing, yes i just drew around another nappy - but you have to pull it taut to allow for elastic around legs. might try the fuzzi for next pattern, used a happy heiny for this one, where fleece rolls out at the legs ('bagged out' stitching), rather than stitched down as in fuzzi (iyswim?).

starlover · 17/05/2005 18:30

no it's his bouncy chair! same pattern though!

am off to search for PUL on ebay again, didn't find anything "quite right" last time!

starlover · 17/05/2005 18:33

oh yes, and did you use that plastic elastic? or just regular stuff?

roosmum · 19/05/2005 17:57

hey starlover, just noticed yr thread on bf...sorry it might be over for you & linus, but wanted to send a anyway for the way in which it might be a relief not to hv to struggle with it anymore? & maybe you can keep the morning feed...bf IS lovely, but i imagine it must be a big stress/upset when not working out...& you can spend time playing with ds instead of expressing, that's gotta be good news [smiles]

roosmum · 19/05/2005 17:57

& sorry for no reply on elastic (!), yep just used normal stuff which seems to be fine.
did you make a nappy after all??
i'm on no 2.

Hazellnut · 23/05/2005 10:30

HI all - just got back from our first family holiday to cornwall !! Was lovely although seems to have coincided with dd taking a bit of a backward step and waking early, being funny with her bottle so feel knackered again !! Can't work out if its a) teething b) needing solids (she is 17 weeks today - 4 months tomorrow !) or c) being naughty. I suspect its c !! Am going to try some teething gel before I feed her next and see if this helps............ just when you think you've got it cracked....

hello everyone!
have just got back from a long weekend in devon, which was actually quite hard work... visiting all dp's relatives (most of whom I have never met before!)
LInus was VERY good though, and smiled at them all and was generally a bundle of joy!

He has actually decided that he CAN breastfeed after all, but is refusing an entire feed so having to top him up with formula!!!

gossifer · 23/05/2005 21:03

gosh, it sounds like you've both done soooooo well this weekend, travelling and meeting 'le famille' is such hard work!! well done ladeeezzz

had to taken the little man to my grampas' funeral on saturday, he was wonderful and brought a smile to otherwise glum faces at the house afterwards - makes you realise what its all about! off for our 2nd lot of jabs on weds - not looking forward to it at all!

starlover · 23/05/2005 21:09

sorry to hear about your grampa gossifer
my nana died last week too, and we have the funeral coming up this wednesday.
she said she was going to hang on until Linus was born and she did (he arrived the day before her birthday!)

gossifer · 23/05/2005 21:27

starlover - my thoughts are with you too i took leon to meet my grampa on the tuesday and my grampa died (totally unexpectedly) on the friday - i cannot believe how lucky we were to spend the day with him - it makes it all so much easier for me - i'm so glad your nan was alive when Linus was born, what a difference for her, xxxxxxx

starlover · 23/05/2005 21:38

glad you had that day with gossifer... it really makes a difference doesn't it?
My nana had been ill for a long time, kept taking turns for the worse and then picking up again... she had been in hospital for about 6 weeks, and it was kind of a relief when she finally went because she was in a lot of pain and now I feel like she is in peace at last.

starlover · 23/05/2005 21:38

sorry, that should have read "glad you had that day with HIM"

gossifer · 23/05/2005 21:47

its hard watching someone die slowly - i understand what you mean by a relief, my granny took a long time to go, at least my grampa is where he wanted to be - with her (v.religious) - he would never have been a good invalid
are you taking Linus on wednesday? xxx

starlover · 23/05/2005 21:49

my nana is also religious... so will hopefully be with my grandpa now!

Will be taking DS along I think, as have no-one to look after him. I hope he behaves though!

gossifer · 23/05/2005 21:58

we took leon to the funeral and we agreed that my partner would be responsible for him (there was lots of expressed milk at the house) so i could concentrate on saying goodbye - we ended up all going to the church and i went to the crematorium without them ( but with the rest of my family)
i hope its okay for you on wednesday - will be thinking of you

gossifer · 25/05/2005 11:39

starlover - thinking of you today, xxxxxxx
i've got flu and i've got to take leon for his 2nd lot of jabs,
hope everyones well and the little ones are happy!!!
