that's great that you're still breastfeeding well done you, i know it's hard - i know i'd didn't know you before but its good you're back, please let me know if i can ever attempt to cheer you up or if you just want a net chat!

gossifer · 31/05/2005 14:23

well i hope everyone had a good weekend, the weather has got the better of us and we've just booked flights to france in july to stay at a friends house, now i'm panicking, what do i need to take???

Hazellnut · 31/05/2005 15:57

Try everything, including the kitchen sink ! When we went away dh and I were restricted to a little bag each whilst dd took up the rest of the space ! Mind you, we did take a travel cot and we would get a stroller next time..... The packing is the worst bit and worrying that you've got everything - once you're there it'll be worth it !

hi everyone, hope your all ok. having ellie christened on sunday.. how come they do every gift possible for a god child, but nothing for god parents?? Ive made my own in the end!! my sister in law in canada is one of her god parents but she had a miscarriage yesterday at 12 weeks. not sure if it would be a bit insensitive to send her pressie over yet?x

Hazellnut · 01/06/2005 18:56

Hi all - am beginning to think that conversation we had a couple of weeks back about sleeping has jinxed me - or it just goes to show you should never count your chickens ... DD was sleeping 12 hours no probs for a good 6 weeks or so but hte last couple of weeks she has started waking up earlier - anytime from 4 - 6 am...... I KNOW I shouldn't complain as I KNOW I Have been very lucky up till now but..... If it still goes on next week I am going to try some baby rice !!

starlover · 01/06/2005 19:05

wow, went to baby clinic today to get DS weighed...

he is now a whopping 15lb 13.5oz !!!!!!

He has put on 2lb and half an ounce in a month!!!

gossifer · 02/06/2005 10:27

well done starlover!!!!!!
hazelnut, leon did that a while ago for a few days and then went back to sleeping all the way through, give it a few days at least if you can!

i'm having a quandry, leon sleeps from 10pm-8am every night no problem, but he doesn't have a nap at any particular time of day just lots of little power naps, he's beginning to get ratty in the day sometimes if he's hungry or tired but just cannot quite get to sleep/feed & there is no pattern to his feeds , i don't want to start dictating his day to him but
a) i'd love it if he went to bed earlier in the evening
b) it's hard when he's crying & you know he's hungry/tired but he doesn't
any helpful hints? thanks

gossifer · 02/06/2005 10:29

clairey - i think any kind jesture for your SIL would be appreciated, xxxxxx

starlover · 02/06/2005 17:32

gossifer.. linus is the same with naps, but luckily has a sleep mid afternoon.
If he gets TOO tired though he is a nightmare to get down.

What happens if you just put Leon to bed in a dark room and leave him?
Does he use a dummy?

I usually put Linus in his cot and leave him, if he cries I go back in and pop dummy back in and snuggle him back up... just keep doing it til he drops off. Never talk to him or engage him because then he gets much more alert!

Hazellnut · 02/06/2005 19:44

Hi there - Gossifer thanks for the tip but DD has now been waking earlier for about 3 weeks. Last night tried a 'dream feed' at 10.30 but she was so sleepy she only took 4 ounces but she did sleep till 6 which is better than the 4.30 the previous night ! Although we have black out lining on the curtains light gets in so I have bought a load of black card and taped that to the windows to see if it is the light waking her up. Am going to try everything before I resort to solids but at the end of the day if nothing works I will try solids next week - she will be 19 weeks so not too early (and our HV's round here seem happy for us to do it after 17 weeks).

As for naps I do pretty much the same as Starlover - leave her in her cot and if she cries I pop back in and try and shoosh her or use a white noise CD. Doesn't always work but sometimes it does ! I also did this to move her bedtime forward from 10 to 7/7.30 and now (touch wood) she goes to sleep quite well earlier now she is used to it.

hello fellow feb mummies...haven't got to laptop much to say hi, the busy life of a mummy eh!!

roo is 4 months old today how fast is time passing by ladies?! weighed 18lbs 3oz on tuesday, which makes him a chunky monkey..tho still purely bf, so i guess he's meant to be a big boy, now in some 6-9 mth clothes & i despair of him wearing anything for longer than a few weeks. also feel like my arms are dropping off after a day of carting him around!

starlover - saw your 'SL lovers' thread & had to post!
have you made a nappy yet???

starlover · 02/06/2005 22:18

hehehe, felt the need to be a little self-obsessed for a moment!

still waiting for PUL from america, dispute over payment... argh!

your ds is only a few days younger than mine... 7th Feb

Hazellnut · 02/06/2005 22:21

Hi Tipex good to hear from you - I am going to shut up about my getting dd to sleep in,in the mornings and just count myself lucky she does what she does. Some people are just sooo ungrateful (me that is ).

Roosmum, Wow at the size of your ds - dd is 12 lbs and 4 1/2 months !! But I know she is a mini baby. Mind you, she seems heavy enough so your arms must be falling off !

Starlover - hope you've climbed down from your pedestal now - I am just peeved you rose to my challenge !!

starlover · 02/06/2005 22:26

lol hazellnut... i had actually been thinking about doing it earlier but then couldn't be bothered!

roosmum · 03/06/2005 12:22

hazelnut - ds is heavier than most babies waaay older than him...! & after a shaky start to bf when he just would not do it (for 4ish days) & losing more than 10% birthweight (8-3 born), always has been

starlover - hope you sort out scummy seller & get pul pronto. i had no probs with mine btw in case yr lookingf for more sellers.

hope all mummies & babes are doing ok....shall we have some kind of rollcall to see who's on this thread & how old etc lo's are??

i'll go first...rufus (roo) is 17 weeks (i think...just 4 mths anyway) weighing 18lbs something, giggling loads, sleeping well (cross fingers!) & is generally lots of fun
think he's gonna outgrow his carseat soonish, which bothers me as he's too young for nxt stage 1...

Hazellnut · 03/06/2005 12:31

My turn - dd (Anna) is 19 weeks on Monday, and weighed 12 lbs last friday ! Trying to sit, teething, giggly and smiley !

gossifer · 03/06/2005 12:46

hello there, me a poorly mum today, finding it quite hard with the banging head
leon was 15 weeks yesterday & weighed 14lb7oz a week ago
normally a very happy chappy, loves the world & so wants to be part of it, sleeps v.well at night
but.........wailing at the mo.... got to go

futurity · 03/06/2005 12:59

Sam is 16 weeks old and weighs 16lb 2oz and also into 6-9 month clothes! He is bf and I have started weaning as Mummy milk wasn't enough for him. He loves his food and is sleeping better and generally more settled because of it. He is smiling most of the time and giggles lots..especially at his big brother!

starlover · 03/06/2005 13:15

Linus will be 17 weeks on Monday. He is 15lb 13.5oz and is still nicely in his 3-6 month clothes.

He is quite tall and slim, so 6-9 months swamp him!

Also smiling and giggling a lot, wants to sit up all the time and has started leaning forward when i put him in his bouncy chair! Not rolling yet... but we've been having a bit of a practice.. he LOVES being on his tummy and props himself up on his arms so he can look around!

gossifer · 03/06/2005 13:34

thanks for all your tips for leon
he will not take a dummy at all
he's fine about being left to go to sleep when i put him down, if its 10pm but not before! am trying keeping him awake all morning so that he has a longer afternoon nap (which started 35mins ago, so far so good!), maybe i'll just try bringing forward his bedtime bit by bit, cheers!

starlover · 05/06/2005 15:57

hellooo

how is everyone?

roosmum · 05/06/2005 20:44

hello all
we're ok here...tho a bit frustrated as roo is being awkward abt feeding - looks really hungry & then refuses to feed. he went through a similar thing a while back & then was fine, so hoping this will pass too. hate every bf being a battle (unless sleepy, in which case he's fine), also makes it difficult to feed him if we're out somewhere, not exactly discreet!! anyone had this happen???
starlover - how's the feeding? are you getting any bf done now?
hope everyone's ok, esp. mummies that've been feeling down
xxx
