Oh daisy, I feel your pain! I tried to grow some beans, courgettes and peas last year. I grew them from seed on my windowsill and loved them. The day I planted them out they got ravaged by slugs to the extend where there was only a tiny piece of stem left on some of the plants. I was gutted! I'm not bothering this year, I can't take the emotional upheaval!

Hope you can salvage something.

MHC, just googled aerogarden, very cool! I want one for cherry toms now, we go through loads in this house.

Sorry about the feeding jammy. Hope it gets better. Hopefully it's just a teething thing making her fussy.

Had a lovely birthday tea at my parents' this afternoon. I made a banoffee cake, it was yum! I forgot to buy blue wrapping paper though, so ds will have to have pink presents! I'm sure he won't mind! I can't believe my little man is one tomorrow. I think my waters broke about this time exactly a year ago!

Bumperlicious · 22/06/2008 20:09

Hi all,

Haven't really caught up, but notice some of you are having crap nights, hope things get better.

Sputnik, ARSE about your card.

We had a lovely day on DD's birthday. She loves the horse we bought her and has been bombing around with it! Had some friends over Friday night which was lovely. DD got mostly clothes for her birthday, which is great as we rarely buy her new clothes, only second hand ones so she has loads to keep her going. My bro bought her this and my mum bought her this except a bit of it is broken. So we are going to have to take it back to our Toys r us. Do you think I would be unreasonable to ask for something free like a bell or something seeing as after my uncle spent hours putting it up, DH is now going to have to do the new one, plus we will have to haul arse to the next city to the store?

We went to a wedding last night which was pretty cool. It was DH's relies who I don't know very well and lots of them were hairy bikers. Apparently the two mothers had a bit of a barney and the bride had been crying. I hadn't been there long and I accidentally dropped a glass which smashed on the dance floor and everyone thought someone had thrown something. it was that sort of wedding . We stayed in a crappy hotel overnight (could barely fit the travel cot in there and had to go up stairs, down stairs, up stairs and down stairs again with the baby and all our crap) and today we went to my relies for a little lunch party, which was lovely but DD is sooooo knackered (she didn't go to sleep till 11.30 last night). She is howling in her cot but is exhausted, as am I.

I've got a full week at work this week so that will be a shock to the system.

Hope you all are ok anyway. Btw did we set a date for the Aug meet up?

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 22/06/2008 20:09

Is this a bit sad? I am forever thinking of things I'd like to make and I just go on 'tinterweb and look up recipes. Now I have got a special note book with sections for my recipes! I think I am going to have to join the WI now!

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 22/06/2008 20:11

Sounds like an interesting wedding bumper! At least it wasn't boring ! Glad dd had a good birthday!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 22/06/2008 20:18

Holly, for years now I've had an A4 file thing to slip recipes in, mostly cut/torn out of magazines etc. It is full now, so I am going to replace the ones we never got round to having or didn't like over time now.

Bumper, glad the birthday was good. Wedding sounds interesting. I've got a full week at work too, on a dull-diddley-dull training course.

andiem · 22/06/2008 20:25

Holly I have a book full of recipes that I have copied down or torn out of magazines. I actually have a beautiful notebook and a folder to put them in but never get round to it.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 22/06/2008 20:30

Hi andiem, hope you get to catch up on some sleep tonight

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 22/06/2008 20:35

Hi and bye andie, sleep well!!

Glad I am not the only recipe collecting saddo around !

Just sold my last 2 travel systems on ebay...final total...£1242 and I have another car seat on that is going later and is currently on £42! I heart pushchair testing!

Off to find an online shoe retailer that accepts paypal!

Sputnik · 22/06/2008 20:40

So did you go to aunt's in the end then Bumper? How did the cake business pan out?

DKMA · 22/06/2008 20:43

Hi everyone - I've not caught up yet - we've had a power cut for most of the day due to the high winds - but we're back to normal now (had to boil pans of water for lo's bath!!)

Little fella has been on top form today and had been playing his little heart out and laughing his head off - he's so cute!!
Has anyone seen my latest video on FB? - He's such a star (and I'm a very proud mummy!!)

Right - I'm off to catch up with the goings on on here!

lackaDAISYcal · 22/06/2008 20:44

I've managed to salvage two thirds of my cabbages and a third of the brocolli, as well as a few chilli plants and some basil planets. The saladlings don't look too bad, so fingers crossed something there survive. Two of my tomato plants are trashed though, but we have a few more so not too disastrous. I'm feeling a little better, and thankfully we have a couple of bigger chilli and pepper plants so we should get something! i might try potting up the supermarket growing basil and see what happens!

sounds like an interesting wedding bumper

glad you had a good birthday bbq andie.

sorry the jamlet isn't too chipper Jammy. I hope you have a better night with her tonight.

I'm watching Practical Magic...it's very darkly comedic; not what I expected at all

DKMA · 22/06/2008 20:48

Oh daisy - you're poor plants

Seansgirlthesequel · 22/06/2008 20:54

Hi all,

just popping in to say hi, going to try and do a quick catch up as you have all been chatting for england again!

But just noticed Holly collects recipes - have two that would highly recommend (even as a meat eater) as they were v.easy and scrummy. I/we cooked last night for my little DB nd his DG (SIL2B) - which are both veggie as she is veggie. Rocket & courgette canelloni and green bean, sundried tomato feta and mozzarella salad

Back in a mo x

DKMA · 22/06/2008 20:56

Don't know if any of you can help me out with this one?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 22/06/2008 20:59

Seansgirlthesequel · 22/06/2008 21:05

DKMA sorry have no advice, sounds crap tho

LittleMissNorty · 22/06/2008 21:13

Evening all

DD just gone to bed ....so unlike her but I have buggered about with her routine a bit today, so probably my fault! She'll be a right miserable little madam tomorrow ....sitting here with the monitor and I can hear her fecking playing....

Got to take her to the GPs in the morning....she has a huge sore/ulcer on the bottom of her tongue ...she's eating and drinking fine but it looks SO sore....I'm pretty sure her bottom teeth are rubbing against it so don't know if the GP can help...

Does being pg make you irritable? I honestly can't remember, but I feel VERY irritable atm and can't work out whether or not I have good reason to be, or if its my hormones and I'm being unreasonable .

LittleMissNorty · 22/06/2008 21:15

btw I've collected recipes from the Good Food Mag for years. During my mat leave, after the storm that was DD had calmed down a bit, I cooked one dinner and one dessert out of my John Lewis carrier bag collection each week

FrazzledFairyFay · 22/06/2008 21:17

Another saddo here . I have a notebook full of recipes copied from or cut out of mags.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 22/06/2008 21:19

Just had to go up to the jamlet. She wouldn't BF again but seemed keen to have some Calpol, so I gave her that and she took a little more EBM from a cup and then back to sleep.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 22/06/2008 21:22

This isn't good she's crying again. She'd cried twice before i went up but self settled those times, but it's hard to tell what she's going to do now...

FrazzledFairyFay · 22/06/2008 21:23

Jammy. I hope she settles for you

lackaDAISYcal · 22/06/2008 21:23

sorry, DKMA can't help, but I've bumped it for you

Hope DD isn't too mizzy tomorrow Norty.

It sounds like all the LOs are a bit unsettled today. DD hasn't eaten very much, but she has drunk loads of milk.

Oh, and while I remember, DS has been dry at night for the last four nights and also for 6 out of the last 8. I think we may have turned a corner ...but still have the pull-ups in the cupboard as a lucky charm.

I'm trying to list a whole load of nappies on Used Nappies. I saved them all as drafts ages ago and when I go to the members area it says I have 28 drafts, but I can't see them.......the list is empty but it says there are 2 pages of them....tis driving me potty cos I can't be arsed listing them all again
