I hope I manage to do this right...I'll kick everything off with a roll call if it does.

we started with pull up pants when ds was 6 and half months. He wont ever lie on his back! it became too frustrating trying! He would immediately flip over
Pull ups were a godsend as no need to lie down! do it standing up!!!

Dalrymps · 01/09/2008 18:00

Hi everyone,

Mama2one - Welcome! I have a ds called Dylan born 30th Oct, the day before yours!

LLL - at what Ben can do, Dylans still commando crawling and not pulling himself up yet so i'm conserving my energy!

I've been to the docs, she said my skin has become infected (yuk emoticon) as when you scratch you break the waterproof layer and the good bacteria off your skin gets in and then the infection spreads under the skin.

She has given me some antihistamine cream and antibiotics, also told me to stop scratching it!

Alice - sounds like you've had a lovely morning

Stefka - How weird is this? My dh also had a bit of an accident in the work van he was driving today. He caught the side of it on the edge of a low pitched roof and ripped a hole in it oops! Don't think he stepped on any slugs though

The doc asked me whilst I was there if I could be pregnant or if I was ttc, I said no. She has to ask because of the antibiotics. She asked what contraception I was using and when I said condoms she gave me the usual, patronising speech on how they're not 100% reliable I know! I'm not stupid! I don't like taking the pill as they mess with my moods, have tried about 4 different types and this is the way that works for me, so there!

Anyway, after leaving I thought I'd better make sure for certain i'm not pregnant so i'm going to wait until my AF starts before starting the antibiotics and just use the cream for now, it's due tomorrow ish anyway so no biggy. If it's late i'll do a test to make sure then start on the pills

Hope eveyone else is having a nice day, back later x

muppetgirl · 01/09/2008 18:59

Hi mama2one
I have ds 1 -Ollie who is 4.6 and starts school this wed. He's old for his years and runs rings round me most of the time

I also have Henry 10 months on Sept 5th (born Nov 5th) No crawling/walking/sitting totally unsupported and has only just leanred to roll, or rather has only just had the inclination too. He has 8 teeth (has done since 8 months) can do a fantastic mum mum mum mum and is fluent in gobbldegook. He is so unlike his brother you wouldn't think they were even related....

Day of cleaning here and not being able to use the tunble dryer as it was peeing it down on and off. I had so much I couldn't use the airer in the utility so the tumble dryer has been on all day (eek at the electric bill ) Cleaned the playroom and are getting ready to surruptitiously make some of Ollie's toys disappear when he starts school as there are some he hasn't played with in months. I'm going to file them in the garage ready for Henry.

Have to run tonight though I'm still knackered from camping and my back hurts!
Last day of the summer holidays tomorrow so we have friends over for lunch and then I might take the boys swimming one last time

Need to put Ollie to bed so back in a mo...

muppetgirl · 01/09/2008 19:00

sorry, that wasn't spell checked at all x

muppetgirl · 01/09/2008 19:34

Stefka- so sorry dh has had crash today, am very glad for you both the damage was just to the van. Also sorry to hear of dh's work worries. Thinking of you both x

Dal - glad you saw the drs about the itch!

Alice - glad you had a great day with your friend and her 2 dc!

Lisa - at Ben climbing up so high...it takes me back to Ollie when he was little. Henry is in no way going to be a climber though his speech is developing day by day and he's saying 'very nearly' words (sounds a little like Lola of Charlie and Lola wrote that!)

Bit depressed about reading all your 'and now they've scaled mount Everest!' posts as Henry still doesn't seem to be doing anything. I know he's fine, HV is happy but you'd think he'd want to go and get some different toys wouldn't you? He still won't sit up reliably unless there are cushions behind him or you support his back yet we have seen him pull himself up to sitting using just his tummy muscles when he was nearly lying down. He can do it, he just can't be arsed to. I'm just having a 'oh woe is me' moment which is stupid as I do know from previous experience how knackering it is when they do start to get mobile so I know I should be relishing my last few weeks of knowing where he is but I'm getting a little fed up of comments from people about 'ooo, he's not crawling?' and the sideways look they give you.

Sorry, that was a bit pathetic!

Stefka · 01/09/2008 20:09

I hear you on the nappy changing nightmare Lisa! Dareh is awful - just won't let me do it and screams like mad.

Welcome to the thread mama2one!

Stefka · 01/09/2008 20:12

Ops I missed the last page!

That is weird Dal!! Must be something in the air.

Muppet - Dareh is not crawling either. He can sit although still falls at times and he does roll and pull himself along but no sign of him getting up on his knees.

Dalrymps · 01/09/2008 21:54

Hi all,

Muppet - sorry you're worrying about Henry not wanting to do much. If it makes you feel any better Dylan just falls over when we get him to sit, he doesn't crawl on his knees, doesn't pull himself up to standing and has never pulled himself up to sitting from flat on the floor.

He is however very vocal, can clap hands and makes about 100 different silly noises

I just keep telling myself that you don't see any 3 year olds still lying on the floor so one day they will be doing everything and we'll have forgotten what we were worrying about.

I think back to when Dylan was younger and remember he had a sticky eye, dry skin in various places, colicky symptoms etc etc and has none of these problems now.

It was really worrying at the time but I've almost forgotten these things ever happened now!

strawberrylace · 01/09/2008 22:30

hello everyone!
sorry for being such an infrequent poster on this thread! I just thought I would pop by to say hello to you all (and welcome mama2one), before I return to work tomorrow, when i reckon my posts will be even more infrequent

Anyway, all is well in strawberryland. DS is such a pickle, into things he shouldn't be, and then he grins such a big smile that its so hard to tell him off. His latest obsession is pegs - he can hear a mile off when i'm hanging out the washing and comes to 'help'

He is off to the childminders tomorrow - he's done a couple of days there as a trial and loved it, so hopefully he'll contonue to have fun - not sure whether i will. Tho a friend at work tells me she's cleaned my desk especially for my return....

What's most scary about all this is the fact that I've been off work for a year now, and DS is almost 11 months old. I know everyone says this - but where did that time go? I have to agree with Dal that I've forgotten half of what's happened in the last year, and that seems quite sad

Hope you are all enjoying your weeks xx

alicet · 01/09/2008 22:31

Lisa yes nappychanging is hell on earth here too! Adam just screams when you try and make him stay on his back. Pull ups isn't a bad idea but give the frequency of his poos (and first 'escaper' for MONTHS this pm!) I don't relish them tbh!

Muppet try not to be too disheartened. Adam was similar until really recently and he has since come on leaps and bounds over the last month or so. Hen will get there. And the fact he CAN do it clearly means there isn't a problem. Didn't you say Ollie takes loads of stuff to him? Well tbh if I could sit on my arse all day (or even better lounge on the sofa ) while someone brought everything I needed I would too!!!

Anyway off to bed now - fingers crossed for tonight! And hello to everyone else xxx

strawberrylace · 01/09/2008 22:32

cross posted strawberry - good luck tomorrow!

strawberrylace · 01/09/2008 22:33

oops sorry about that double post. Honestly, i'm like a number 77 bus - don't come along for ages and then two turn up at once....

muppetgirl · 02/09/2008 08:13

Hi Strawberry! Good luck for today's return to work!!

Alice/Dal - I know I'm being daft I just can't help it I seem to be on worry overdrive at the moment with the pair of them Olie's starting school and I know he's bright but I also know he doesn't think being clever is cool and quite often pretends not to be abl;e to do things when can easily do them (remember the alphabet which he knew half of but said it was a secret????) Dh asked him to share 6 sweets between the three of us and he did straight away and said we'll get 2 each. I've taught y3/y4 children who couldn't do that! I worry worry worry about him at the mo and with Hen deciding to be the laziest baby in the world I then worry some more!!! I use the same mantra Dal 'we don;t know any andult who is still in nappies so he'll sort him self out when he's ready!!' etc etc.
I'm very tired at the moment and we've had no sun so I'm a little concerened about how the winter will go (modd wise iyswim) as it's never a good time for me. I go to bed at around 10ish, sleep like the dead until 7.30 and I'm still tired.....

Anyway I am so chuffed (my candian sil would now be saying 'What the hell does Chuffed mean?') for you all over what your lo's can do I'm just a little lealous that Hen doesn't appear to want to do those things yet!

love to all

x

LisaLessLumpy · 02/09/2008 08:28

muppet - If you stand him up against a chair will he stand without being held?

Sam only started weight bearing on his legs at 10 months by 10 and a half months he was standing unaided against a chair, once they start moving it happens so quickly you won't believe it. He was just over a year old before he could get himself to a sitting position from lying down so don't worry yet

muppetgirl · 02/09/2008 08:40

Hi Lisa
He'll weight bear and bob his legs which he loves but I can't let go of him as he would sit down (and catch teeth on the way down) We bought him a baby gym that coverts into a sitting up toy that he likes but he still needs cushions behind him or he makes himself slide down by pushing his tummy out.
I am sure things will improve when Ollie starts school as he won't have me sat there all day pandering to his every whim!

LisaLessLumpy · 02/09/2008 08:47

He just sounds lazy and stubborn then - just prefers lying down , don't worry, as you say once Ollie is back at nursery and he has to start getting things for himself he'll be ok

muppetgirl · 02/09/2008 08:50

Oliver is as stubborn as a mule with the determination of a very determined thng and I thought Hen was laid back but actually he's not really. He's laid back in things he's not bothered about but stubborn as a mule with other things. My friends all say -I wonder where he gets that from!!!!

Oliver has just received a 'good luck on your first day of school' card from his Godmother -she's so lovely!!! He's put it on the side with the card from his new teacher he got last week.

Dalrymps · 02/09/2008 09:22

Morning ladies,

Strawberry - HI, great to hear how you're getting on, hope your first day back goes smoothly today

Muppet - I know what yuo mean about worrying, i'm very good at telling other people why they shouldn't but not so good at stopping myself worrying . I'm not looking forward to winter either, it always makes me feel like i'm hibernating and not quite 100%. Christmas is great though

Everyone's saying the nappy changing is impossible at the moment. I'm pleased to say it hasn't quite reached crisis level here yet, he tries to roll but I just hold on to one leg to stop him and usually give him a small toy to play with to distract him. No screaming as yet though, thank god!

Off to ive Dylan his bottle, back later x

FloriaTosca · 02/09/2008 10:49

Hi All!
We had 4 birthdays to attend (ages 1-80 and non within 25 miles of each other!)over the weekend so didnt get chance to drop in and see how eveyone is...boy have you lot been busy!

Muppet;glad you had a fabulous camping trip. lol at Ollies alphabet secret (I'd forgotten that one) and WOW at his sweet division!!!! You know not to worry about H, he'll do things in super swift time (like llls' Ben)once he has decided it is worth it. Wow too at your cleaning spree...want to come and do some in Lancashire? I can barely be bothered with the vacuum and Alex is the worlds greatest critic, sweetlyfetching me every dog hair I have missed! Have you tried a light box to combat your sad? A friend of mine swears by hers.
Strawberry; good to hear from you. I hope your 1st day back goes really quickly
Dal; glad your rash is being sorted and hope af arrived punctually so you can start the abs

got to go mil arrived...

OP posts:
Dalrymps · 02/09/2008 10:56

Hi Floria - Wow, what a busy weekend! Dylan is the same with dog hairs must hoover more!

No AF yet but am getting some vague crampy pains so maybe it's on it's way.

Back again later, where is everyone else today?

Stefka · 02/09/2008 13:21

Well it has finally happened - Dareh offically slept through the night! He went to bed awake at seven and I didn't hear a peep out of him until six this morning when I heard him playing in his cot. I left him for a bit to see if he wanted to doze off again but he didn't so I went to him at half six. I feel very proud of him because I know it has been hard for him!

I am trying to decide whether to go to the baby group this afternoon. I can't be bothered but I know Dareh will have fun with the toys so I should go.

Dalrymps · 02/09/2008 13:49

Wow Stefka, thats amazing! So glad for you, bet it feels great to get a full nights sleep

ChocolateHobnob · 02/09/2008 18:57

Hi everyone

WELL DONE DAREH!!! Rebecca did it once but hasn't repeated the feat... that said, she doesn't feed at night; she just marauds madly.

Dal - I hope you are pregnant! Keep us posted. If your AF hasnt arrived and is due that must be a v good sign surely - oh and the cramps could also be a good sign; I had loads when first pregnant.

Muppet, Hen will do everything in his own time but I do understand the worry. You can't help it, goes with the territory! R can only crawl backwards, so don't think every baby on this thread is an intrepid explorer.

She now has a pushalong walker thing and walks all round with it...

Strawberry, hello! Good luck with work. indeed, where has the time gone.

My news is I have a nephew! Ewan, 7 pounds 10, born Sunday by C-section after an induction.

Got to go, she is calling... xx

crochetdiva · 02/09/2008 19:40

hiya - am now really back in work, so am probably going to be a very infrequent poster for the next few weeks until things settle down and we get into a decent routine!

M has taken her first steps in the last week - she's very pleased with herself

No other real news - Tenby last week was fab, despite the weather!

Now off to start my school work ... back to reality!
