I hope I manage to do this right...I'll kick everything off with a roll call if it does.

Have mailed you alice, is there a budget for the presents or just whatever you fancy?

alicet · 27/08/2008 22:26

I had thought about £5? Happy for more or less depending on what people want but the idea was just something small really...

Meant to say too Lisa that I'm liking your idea of a mums night out. Think we talked about this a while back but then it didn't go any further... Any other takers?

Really tired again... am thinking of getting one of those sad lights to help us wake up in the morning/use during the day. Does anyone know of anyone who's got one? Have Darren today and, for once, aren't looing forward to it as I'm tired.

What's everyone else up to today?
xx

Stefka · 28/08/2008 07:34

mmm a night out - that would be so nice. Can't see me getting one anytime soon though!

Inzi that story is so funny! You probably made that guys day! Also the picture is too cute. All that hair!

Didn't need to go into Dareh at all last night. He woke up twice and let out a little cry but had stopped before I even had time to check what time it was.

Got an appointment with a dietitian today. Feel a bit funny about going actually as things have been a bit better and I have put on weight and I feel kind of embarrassed like there is no problem really. I know that it's not really sorted though so I am going to go and hope that she can be of help. Have this horrible fear that she is going to tell me I am too fat!

I meant to add last night, Muppet-i took Shannon camping and she slept all night even with its totally pi**ing it down and was really windy, whats he sleeping in? i put Shannon in her carry cot, strapped her in, and and made sure she was well wrapped up.

I have an appointment to give a statement to the police today re my friend getting attacked, as i was her first point of contact after it happened, not looking forward to it really but it needs to be done before they can even arrest him! the system is so stupid.

FloriaTosca · 28/08/2008 10:33

Morning!

Mums night out...hmmm...would be nice but I'm still bfing and to tell the truth even if I wasn't I honestly dont think dh could cope he had to catch an early flight on Tues (had to get up at 4am)and had an early start yesterday (5am).. though he had the energy to go playing badminton on his way back from the airport...yet had the cheek to ask me to take Alex out of the room at 6.30 so he could have a lie in this morning because he was knackered!!! ..this despite the fact that alex had woken at 1.30, I had a nightmare and woke crying at 3am (..dont ask), Alex woke again at 4.30 for bf but took 45mins of... pick up/"mummy loves you, night night"/lay down/humming a lullaby... to settle, the dog cried to go out at 6.15 which unsettled Alex and woke him which elicited said request from Dh I wanted to change Alex so took him out and eventually went to the spare room where Alex coslept in the crook of my arm and I seethed for 2 hours until Dh came sheepishly creeping in appologising for being selfish...at which I reminded him that 18th Sept (just 3 weeks away) is the anniversary of the hospital refusing to let me go home, rooming me with up to 4 newborns or groaning women in early labour and checking my bloodpressure every 4hrs day and night until Alex arrived so it is also the anniversary of the last time I got a decent nights sleep..decent in my book being anything over 4hrs!!!!!...
... I am now ashamed of not accepting his appology with a good will
...but you can understand why I dont think he could cope on his own can't you?
...I'll just have to party with you all in spirit.

I'll email you Alice, I'd like to do the secret santa for birthdays thing

J20; I hope the statement giving goes smoothly..I agree the system is pedantic but they have to follow the procedure to the letter of the law or his lawyers will find ways of getting him off without even a trial.

How did you get on J20? I missed what happened to your friend - she was attacked by someone? That is just awful.

The appointment was good but pretty overwhelming. She was very good. Weighed me and I am still underweight even though I have put some weight on but she wants me to stop weighing myself anyway. Got to keep a food diary - not sure how that will go. Don't see her again for ages and ages - 9th of Oct - as she is on holiday. She gave me loads of leaflets to read. I thought her approach was good - realistic that it was going to take time to sort as my thinking is pretty disordered. She asked me if I was ready to change but I think I am - Dareh is good motivation. I felt pretty tired after it all.

Floria - what is it with men and not getting just how sleep deprived we actually are! I remember DH refusing to get up and help me because 'when was he going to get a lie in' if he did!!! I hadn't slept properly since before Dareh was born so that did not go down well at all!

Wish I could come on your night out!

alicet · 28/08/2008 20:54

Stefka glad to hear your appointment went well and also that Dareh's sleeping continues to improve. You sound like you have a really positive attitude so sure everything will come good for you.

Floria at your insensitive dh on your behalf!!! Don't blame you for not accepting his apology straight away! Dh was like this a bit with Sam but I think it has taken Adam's arrival for him to really get how bloody knackering it is. I think before he was just really jealous of the time I had off from work with Sam. Now he has had more time with either one or both of them on his own he realises it's no picnic!

J20 hope the statement wasn't too traumatic and that they now have enough justification to arrest the bstard. Like we said on Wed it will be very hard for them to prove but if they manage to put the shtters up him at least it might make him think twice before trying that again...

Good to see so many are up for a night out! Good plan Lisa! I was thinking... How about we do it in / near Manchester? That's pretty central and would mean that Floria and WWAJC could also make it for a couple of drinks even if nothing else? SOrry inzi and Stefka - unfortunately where you are is not so easy for everyone to get to (thinking of muppet in Swindon in particular!) although it would be as easy for me...

Well I have been to my pilates class this evening and dh is now off to the driving range with a mate! I had a spontaneous day off today. Adam was awake in the night I think because of teething. I have a day left to take before the end of Sept and knew there were plenty of people about today to cover so I rang up and explained first thing and then went back to bed and slept till 12!!!! Feel much better as a result but sure I won't sleep tonight now and be back where I started Oh well today was really relaxing and needed...

Hi inzi! Glad you had such a nice day yesterday, chiquetos Mmmmmmm! Thats good that your dh looks after you so well, what a sweety, it's nice that some men appreciate that being a mummy is a full time job by itself!

I want to go to a mum and toddler group but all the ones here are really early morning when Dylan has his breakfast/nap. There's an afternoon one for over 1's so maybe i'l try to get to that when he's a bit older.

Just wanted to reply to you so you didn't feel like you'd killed the thread

I cried watching the GMTV wedding this morning, how sad am I?!

Will catch up properly in a bit but have o tidy first!

Hi to everyone else x

Dalrymps · 29/08/2008 12:53

Glad yoy enjoyed the group

My dh is the same, a total gentleman

Yeah i'm bad for crying at things, lol, wonder what i'll be like when i'm pregnant if i'm like this now!

alicet · 29/08/2008 18:41

Glad the toddler group was good inzi and that you have found a mum to go out with - makes all the difference.

Dal hope you find a similar group too - I think once you get over the initial awkwardness they are great.

Oh and just wanted to add that I am another wimp who cries at everything!

And also just as lucky that I have a thoughtful lovely dh too who also gets women and that looking after small children is just as demanding a job!

Work pretty quiet today - spent the morning looking at ofsted reports for local schools as we are STILL agonising over whether it might be better to move than to put us through all the hassle of an extension.... Ho hum - methinks we will still be thinking about it when they are all grown up!

Stefka · 29/08/2008 19:16

I am a bit cryer too!

Inzi your DH sounds super lovely you lucky girl

Dareh is too wee for a toddler group yet. We are still at bumps and babies!

I have a sore throat - think I am getting sick. Could do without it as DH at work all weekend and I am on my own. I hate it even more when he is away at the weekends - feels worse somehow.
