hello ladies!!! I have disappeared off the face of the planet it seems!! Busy weaning.. well I am a naughty mommy who started Ruby on solids at 18 weeks, she is on 3 meals a day (breakfast usually baby cereal with half a mashed banana and an ice cude portion of apples, lunch is usually potato with either swede and parsnip of carrot and brocoli- she usually has 4 portions and then dinner she has her veg!!) I am literally scarping the bowl with her! Although she only takes 20 oz of milk now but she is still sleeping through.

For all thoses moms who are weaning, the poos get worse and worse, honestly nearly puked on her this morning!!! Felt like morning sickness all over again!

Hope everyone is fighting fit and all your babies are still beautiful- of course they will be!!!

justkeepswimming · 26/06/2008 21:23

hi bluebell, sounds like weaning going well for you
yes the change in nappies is not good, esp i have to say from bf to food, yuk.

simpson - your poor dh tho it doesn't sound like he wants sympathy!

frag - have you decided re CM? sounds bad to me tho i know nothing about CM. i wouldn't be impressed if i picked H up from nursery like that - not that he's going yet but if he was, iykwim.

um - sure there were other things i was going to say but on second glass of wine ()...

up since 5 this morning with ds1 so really should be in bed asap. got in-laws coming tomorrow for a few days (dh away tomorrow & sat - nicky i DO know what you mean). will have to tidy up a bit i think

best go

Hectic day today. Think I have found the right childminder for DS. Was round her house this afternoon and DS was giggling away for her... That's a weight off my mind. He also blew loud raspberries all the way round ASDA.

Friends came round who are visiting from abroad. DH coaching cricket so had to take DS and dog out for big walk. DH has done his leg in doing karate this week. He is always in the wars! Kid threw a cricket bat at him once. He also had 2 broken ribs for our wedding after a pupil tackled him too hard.

Hi Bluebell! What an appetite Ruby has! I am only on 2 meals a day so far. Have gone bacto normal Aptamil though. Talking of disgusting nappies, the ones on the easy digest milk were revolting. He did a sweet potato one today though .

Have got both DCs on my own tomorrow (boo hiss!!) as DH starting work at 4.30am. I have had him here at home for the last 5 days and he likes to get up and spend time on his own with DCs if you can beleive it!! I am not a morning person.

That reminds me Lucky - saw your other thread re DP. Me and DH were talking last night and coz he works shifts (6 day on 4 off) by his 3rd day off we want to kill each other, having been together pretty much all day for 3 days!! We came to conclusion it is normal and everything is fine when he is at work then I find myself looking forward to his days off, if you get my meaning!! Might be because your DP on holiday so around more.

simpson · 27/06/2008 11:21

Grr...

Just got back from seeing Health visitor at baby clinic. They want me to wean DD as she is not putting on enough weight. Only 2 ozs this wk. They want me to go EVERY week. What to get bollocked & told to wean!! I don't think so!!
Surely the aim is to get her to take more milk as it has more calories in it??!?

susiemj · 27/06/2008 14:02

I agree Simpson. Some /hv seem so, sorry to say it, ignorant.

How's DH today?

!Enhorabuena Angechica!

susiemj · 27/06/2008 14:05

Sabela had what could really be called a meal today. According to her, baby porridge rocks!

simpson · 27/06/2008 14:23

DH just got back from work and have cleaned his hand again and put savlon on it. It looks horrid though. He said it stings a bit.

Also when DD was at HV this morning she noticed a little red mark on DD's arm got asked a LOT of questions about it. As a RL friend said to me today she kissed her LO too hard and left a mark!!

barristermum · 27/06/2008 15:02

Hey guys - just a quickie - am off on holiday to Isle of Wight where we have rented a cottage for a week. Won't be online. Hope all stay well and happy and don't chat so much it's impossible for me to catch up on return! kisses

MrsBakerGirl · 27/06/2008 16:37

Afternoon all!

Feel very behind in the weaning stage! Mine only on one meal in morning of rice for last week!

DD taking well but DS2 is spitting out. Looks like he is taking it and then when I give DD a spoon he spits it out when not looking. Any tips?

Simpson - I am just going to put milk in all my food to get DD milk intake up. Giving her rice has not affected her intake actually gone up a little bit. Exactly same happened to my DS1 who is now seven and he just really went off milk early and so jusy mixed milk with pear, carrot, etc gave petis filous etc.

I agree going every week a nightmare I preferred to see it over two-three weeks to get a better picture. Why stress every week!

Sorry about your DH.

simpson · 27/06/2008 18:01

Mrs BakersGirl - how was meeting in Debenhams?

Only decided to go to clinic at the last minute won't be making that mistake again!!The thing is she has at least 35 ozs milk a day so don't know how she could not have put much weight on!!

My sympathy for DH come to an end! Have cleaned and rebandaged hand and he keeps taking it off to "have a look"

Ordered DS's pictures today from his playgroup. Going to try and see photographer tomorrow to get pics of DD

Barristermum - have fab time.

MrsBakerGirl · 27/06/2008 19:31

Simpson

Wow - she is drinking loads! My DS drinks that much in a day and is putting on 8 oz and is on the 95th percentile. I am a bit worried about his rapid weight gain and was thinking of trying to cut back. DD drinks 20-22 oz a day and is putting on 5 oz. I can't believe only 2 oz for your DD she must just have a totally different metabalism. Just go with your own instinct on the weaning - you know better than anyone!

Meeting was really good! I'll def let you know when we are meeting again.

Hope you all have a good evening.

Any big brother fans out there? Or am I the only sad one amongst us!

simpson · 27/06/2008 21:07

Mrs BakersGirl - the only thing I can think of is growth spurt. She has learnt to do alot this week Laugh (proper belly chuckle), grab toes and spends ages trying to roll over. Not quite there yet though. She has dropped from the 75th perectile to now just above 9th. If she goes below 9th they want me to wean straight away. Thats not going to happen!!

Not a big brother fan but love corrie though.

My mum rang this evening and wants to take DS swimming on sun. He has only been a handful of times as I am allergic to chlorine. Think he will love it.

justkeepswimming · 27/06/2008 21:10

hi all

if you think of all the energy/milk going in as 'X' and all the energy being used up as 'Y';
then think that Y can be made up of all the different things our babies are doing, each one doing different variations of:
rolling
sitting
growing teeth
chatting/gurgling
putting on weight
staying awake, lol, etc.

so, some will expend their X on weight gain, but others will use it for something else. does that make any sense at all?? it is getting late,

so, simpson, is she doing something else that uses up energy atm?

i know my ds1 grew lots of teeth quite early but didn't talk till a bit later than his friends.

anyhoo, hvs are full of crap! (sorry if you are one)

barristermum - enjoy

ange - well done on finding a CM.

ds2 had some of ds1's mashed potato earlier. ds1 wouldn't eat a mouthful of tea (grr). and he loved it! it was off a spoon but he was the one grabbing the spoon and shoving it in his mouth! i do want him to eat more but don't want to give up on blw just yet.

have in-laws here, dh away tonight. they are unsure about the blw thing tho...mind you they were unsure about bf before ds1, so a learning curve for them too i guess.

right, off to bed soon, night all

LuckySalem · 27/06/2008 21:10

MrsBG - Definatly on your own with BB, its just getting worse each year!!

Simpson - Hope DH is ok and that his hand is "still there"
I'd ignore your HV, I got told to stop feeding DD so much cos she was gaining too much weight. I just ignored them and she is fine!!

DP wants to know how qualified HV's actually actually are He thinks they're failed nurses!!

justkeepswimming · 27/06/2008 21:10

x-posted simpson. there you go

AngeChica · 27/06/2008 21:18

Hi MBG, my DS is now back on the 98th centile, that's what he was born on, he was following the 91st til I weaned him off the breast. My HV says no need to worry about weight gain. It doesn't matter if they get a bit chubby, as soon as they are on the move they wll even themselves out she reckons. DS is also on 98th for length so I think he is about right!

I used to be avid BB fan, I even got to go to the final of BB2 (Brain Dowling won) via a journo friend of mine. I had to pretend to be someone's friends and family cos they had none! Haven't seen much of it this year tho...

Got stuck in a traffic jam today and the car overheated again. I keep getting so scared it will burst into flames or something when DS is inside with me. Anyway, that was the final straw. I went and bought a new car. It's a Kia Picante, 3 years old. Cheap and nasty but does what is says on the tin. It's the first non-banger I've ever had!

DH is on a school trip to the Lake District so am home alone with DS for the weekend. O wel that's another weekend the cleaning won't get done!

LuckySalem · 27/06/2008 21:19

Congrats on new car AngeChica!
I want a new car (don't need one) just want one!! lol

AngeChica · 27/06/2008 21:20

Facebook says its your birthday this weekend Lucky! Are you doing anything nice?
