Couldn't think of anything contraversial!

FGS, dd's worst cp spot (which became infected) is underneath her left eye. It's definitely scarred but I'm hoping it will fade a bit. Ds1 has a scar on each knobbly bit of his collarbone and one on his back. He scratched far more than dd though.

Poor puss, has he been run over?

Ds1 and dd have a bit of a lurgy and are v v whingy so we're having a duvet day. CBeebies on the box and plenty of Calpol .

Eli, it's nearly over........

calsworld · 21/05/2008 16:01

Hi all, DS back to nursery today, but I'm tucked up in bed with tonsillitis .

I'm still not convinced DS had CP, especially by comparison with what you guys are talking about, he had about 15 spots on his back along his waist band, about 6 down his right leg, and about 15 on the back of his neck - but they were tiny, tiny, tiny....so small the GP had to get a magnifying glass out!!!

Anyway, whatever it is / was, they've all scabbed over and he hasn't really suffered at all - apart from being cooped up with his poor mummy for the last six days. Not that he was bored or anything but when his dad got home last night, he asked him for his scarf, coat and nursery bag and was trying to get out the front door!!! LOL!

He cried when I left him there this morning but he will have settled down really quickly - he loves it there, much more fun than being home with me .

I've slept ALL day, well nearly - i've only been awake for about an hour and a half!

Sorry about your cats leg FGS. And to all your DC's with eczema - I suffered really badly with it as a child.

Olihan, can you avoid baths for a few days, or if he needs them for cleanliness / routine etc make sure water is coolish and cover eczema in emollient (aqueous, diprobase etc) before he goes in as it will help protect his skin. Cotton sheets in this weather are also very helpful. How old is he?

calsworld · 21/05/2008 16:02

and sympathy to all your DC's

Elibean · 21/05/2008 16:42

Good for your ds, Calsworld, thats the way to do CP if you have to

Am on here far too often today, guess who's cooped up?

dd feeling too tired to go out for an icecream (about 500 yds) and definitely has more spots to come, only itching ones in her bum, ear and hair though. Really could be worse though.

Someone talk about something other than CP, pleeeease, maritals maybe? Shopping?? Am in need of mental distraction!

How's Cat, FGS?

FunkyGlassSlipper · 21/05/2008 17:15

It's crap isnt it Eli On a positive note DD2 may look awful but is much more her normal self today and has only required one dose of medicine

For DD1 we got lots of magazines for her. The freebies entertained her for a while and then the activities in them kept her distracted too for all of 5 minutes

Cat has cabin fever too and is very cross with me for net letting him out, He has a bright red bandage on his leg which looks pretty cool but even being a fashionable cat cannot convince him that he is not extremely hard done by as I wont let him out to climb trees

Olihan · 21/05/2008 18:38

Cal, tonsillitis is horrible, you have much sympathy from me. DS2 had (suspected) CP in Jan but even more mildly than your ds. He had about 8 spots on his inner thigh and that was it. DS1 and Dd had it in March and ds2 didn't get it so I think it probably was.

Re. eczema, he's 16mo, only has a bath twice a week at the most (lax mummy!)but seems to get more upset if he's just been covered in diprobase before he gets in than not. He's in Grobags still which are 100% cotton, his bottom sheet is pure cotton, he has an anti-dustmite cover on his mattress, a blind rather than curtains, no carpet or rug. We've got a Dyson and I hoover (dyson?) at least once a week but only the lounge and hall/stairs have carpet. Everywhere else is floorboards or tiles. Short of getting rid of the cats I've run out of ways to eczema proof the house! Someone on another thread suggested food intolerance but I have no idea where to start with that.

Elibean · 21/05/2008 19:27

Oli, dd's nice sensible GP once told me not to go down the route of trying to figure out what caused her eczema outbreaks - he said I'd probably never figure it out, and drive myself mad. I'm grateful to him every time I start thinking I should try changing this or that, because I'd have no idea where to start either....or maybe I'm just lazy...

FGS, poor Cat - I had to but still, poor Cat.

Yup, magazines everywhere here - for dd1 and then, because dd2 has got to the stage where she wants exactly what dd1 has, a Noddy magazine for dd2. Dear oh dear.

Am going to go drug the girl

calsworld · 21/05/2008 20:30

Olihan, re the cats - I was watching that programmes where doctors wander about the place treating people and one lady asked about cat allergy. Doctor said that its the saliva of the cat that people are allergic to, not the fur, and that cat's wash themselves and the saliva dries on the fur, then they get stroked or groomed and tiny particles of saliva distribute around the home and in the air, causing asthma and other allergic reactions. Said that the best thing to do if you don't want to get rid of them is to wipe them regularly with a damp cloth to remove the dried saliva.

Of course, not sure how many cats would tolerate that but figured it might be worth mentioning!

To echo what elibean has said, I went through all sorts of allergy testing, exclusion diets, wierd treatments (holding glass vials of sugar beads in hand) to determine what was causing my eczema. I'm now 33 and i know most of the things that make it worse, just not what makes it better. Whilst I wouldn't discourage anyone from trying to make sure there isn't anything causing it, I also wouldn't anyone to think that there's a cure - there simply isn't.

The right eczema creams, not getting too hot, avoiding synthetic clothing are all really important things. But sounds like you know all of those already and have most things covered.

I do sympathise, I was distraught when I had a blocked nose and didn't realise DS had a dirty nappy and he got a really really sore bum - screamed when we had to wash the pooh off him (I cried and DH had to look after him for a bit as I felt so guilty) so can only begin to imagine what its like to see him uncomfortable with the eczema so much more often.

calsworld · 21/05/2008 20:31

Street Doctor?

GodzillasBumcheek · 21/05/2008 20:32

Right, good evening all you ladies, ill or otherwise, and your poorly kids...have a big cuppa tea and sympathy on me (not literally on me though you understand, i'm here in my jim-jams and i don't want tea all over me)...

Changing the subject from CP then, we have had a (lol) breakthrough with the milk problem. Firstly i have decided that yoghurts are the way to go - even if some of them have to be low-fat (she gets plenty of calories elsewhere, i doubt she will waste away) due to stupid shops not selling wholemilk versions with fruity bits. Smooth is soooo boring and last season. And secondly she is now using straw-cups (the Avent 18 month+ ones), which she seems to drink faster from, and manages quite well.

Er...that's it really. No marital tonight i don't think.

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 21/05/2008 21:04

Ooh calsworld, I'm allergic to cats. Hope you're feeling better soon.

I've a 3.5 yo who has got up about 15 times tonight. I think the time has come to fit the blackout blind which has been propped against her wall for 4 months. Would I be reported to SS if I tied her to the bed?

I think we'll have to wait until the final whistle for the football to know if there's any marital action/martial arts tonight. x 2 nudge x 2

OP posts:
GodzillasBumcheek · 21/05/2008 21:20

Margo - not by me
But you did it in the wrong order btw -its nudge first.

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 21/05/2008 21:28

I always seem to quote the wrong way.

OP posts:
GodzillasBumcheek · 21/05/2008 21:31

never mind [nirg]

babypowder · 21/05/2008 22:37

DD2 loves drinking through straws - she giggles, and the milk or whatever comes shooting out her nose. Hilarious

Is that match still on? Deffo no marital tonight! I took the opportunity to disappear upstairs with a bowl of rhubarb and custard and watched The Apprentice in complete silence. Utter, utter bliss. (I'm not allowed to eat rhubarb in front of the rest of my family as they believe it to be the vegetable of the devil) Quite pleased to see Lee still in the fray , but I have £5 riding on Michael in the work sweepy.

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 21/05/2008 22:47

Has anyone elses child reached the "aeroplane stage"?

I can remember dd1 doing this. always looking and pointing skywards.

She waves at them - bless.

OP posts:
GodzillasBumcheek · 21/05/2008 22:49

BP...football is boring. but i also know nothing of this Apprentice either!

Margo...we actually got followed home by a helicopter which DD3 was waving at, a few weeks ago! They really were circling us, it wasn't my imagination!

Olihan · 21/05/2008 23:34

Yup, aeroplanes here too, and lorries, cars, pickups, flowers, horses, people, birds, cats, tractors............

Our walk to preschool is peppered with 'ook! mummy ook!'
'oh yes ds2, what can you see?'
'owrs/oss/oof oof/man/dactar/bir/etc, etc'
And if I don't ask him what he can see then the screeches reach ear shattering decibels. And to think I was excited about him learning to talk .

Oh and I had marital tonight (at 7pm )!

FunkyGlassSlipper · 22/05/2008 07:24

Margo - I can beat you in the blackout stakes. We got one for DD1s room when I was pregnant with DD2 - 2 years ago and it is still in the garage

Dd2 who has always been a dream sleeper is refusing to go to bed. We used to dump her in the cot say goodnight and then not hear a peep out of her until morning. Not sure if it is her new bed or remnants of CP but I had to sit in her room for 30 mins to get her to sleep last night and every time I went to leave she wailed Then at midnight she woke and insisted in coming into my bed - I think she likes it with me too much!

FunkyGlassSlipper · 22/05/2008 16:55

How is DD today Eli? My DD2 much improved. Now I just need to sort her sleeping out.

Cat been to vets again and had new dressing put on. Wound healing well, pads a bit sore. He wont take the antibitics in his food so they've had to give him another injection. Back again in 5 days for another dressing change Costing a fortune. £125 so far.

bebespain · 22/05/2008 20:44

Sending huge get better vibes for all the babies with cp - poor little mites

FGS - your poor cat, sounds like he´s been through the mill. Glad the wound is healing well. What a time you´ve been having lately. I think you are well in need of G&Bs plus your favourite tipple

Margo - lots of aeroplane sky pointing here but the best is the doggy pointing, that´s DS current favourite. DS goes crazy when he sees a dog, pointing and making funny little noises in great excitement All of which are totally incoherent I´m sure he knows what he means!!

Took DS for his eye check-up. Total waste of time really and much grr going on. The consultant said he likes to wait a month before checking his patients . I explained we had been told 2 weeks Anyway the upshot is we have to take him back again in another two weeks
Actually its been looking much better the past couple of days so here´s hoping.....

accessorizequeen · 22/05/2008 21:00

sorry ladies, too busy making the homepage to visit lately hee hee.

urgggh all this cp, sounds absolutely horrible for mums and lo's both. And poor fgs's cat! Although a cat with a red leg must be something to see? Ezcema also - what a nightmare, wish I could suggest something but can't so just hugs for everyone!

lennied, is dh behaving himself now?

just went to school parent's evening, all very friendly and lovely, toured ds1's classroom. He's going to love it! Just no idea how in hell I am going to get him & 3 babies to school gates on time ever. Sigh.

Indith · 22/05/2008 21:03

Get you AQ, you'll be getting too famous for us

Elibean · 22/05/2008 21:16

What have I missed, AQ? Homepage, famous?? I have to find time to scroll back a bit more

Running post, this - just got dd1 to sleep, but she'll probably be up again in couple of hours. Thanks for asking, FGS, she's not bad during the day but had a horrible night last night (every couple of hours waking crying, exhausted etc) so am in dire need of early night to cope! Am so glad your dd is on the mend, I imagine its that much harder when the little one gets it as they can't understand so much

Am getting nervous about dd2's forthcoming, almost certain, CP. Knowing her, its bound to be dramatic.

Am also glad Cat is on the mend, albeit expensively.

Bebe, hurrah for the mending eye too - though at the doc, of course!

Hope you pregnant ladies are well, AQ you sound as though you're blooming - do you feel blooming? You just sound sort of round and happy, IYKWIM, and relaxed, just as pg women are meant to! Its lovely.

Enough sleep deprived wittering, am off to shower and drag dh to bed for an un-marital kipzzzzz...

Olihan · 22/05/2008 22:21

Ooh, AQ, fame at last! I did wonder why you weren't going with your Aussie roots for names though - Scott and Charlene, Madge and Harold, Des and Daphne all sound lovely .

Bebe, good news on the eye - sounds like communication between the medics is as good there as it is here .

We've got ds1's school intro meeting in a couple of weeks and I'm dreading it. I'm kind of managing to bury my head in the sand about him going to school at the moment but it's going to be all too real after that. I don't want my baby to go to big school . It's such a massive step and he is totally ready for it but it feels like the end of his babyhood. He won't be all mine anymore, iyswim?
