Couldn't think of anything contraversial!

Good luck Jabber, hope it all goes smoothly. Just get your beds up and collapse when you get there, the rest will wait. It is fun the first night anyhow, kind of like going camping! I expect the DCs will be a bit unsettled in unfamiliar rooms for a couple of nights, but they'll soon get used to them.

Sorry to hear about the latest CP outbreak, I am dreading it. At least we are out in the sticks so don't come across it that often.

WARNING Complaining please feel free to skip!

DH is being an ar$e!! Need to vent. He really isn't being supportive with me being pregnant. Am struggling a bit now with tiredness and sickness and am getting fed up of not getting any sympathy at all. Aaaaarrgh! If he would just offer to help with something that would be nice. Tonight he finally caved and came to help with bedtime and then lay on DDs bed whilst I got her dressed moaning about how I had moved the 'blockade' toy box that was stopping her opening her wardrobe door. If he would just fit the bloody cupboard locks we've had for 3 months!!!

Right, sorry about that, feel much better now

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 19/05/2008 20:08

Good luck Jabber - hope you settle in to your new surroundings quickly.

Indith · 19/05/2008 20:23

Do you lot have to post so much? Honestly do you have nothing better to do?

Erm....right.....

Welcome back Gloria, very for the pox fgs, take it easy AQ, naps in the living room are the way to go , yay for "marital" (am currently in a take it or leave it totally unfussed about it mood, have to attempt to put on an enthusiastic front once a week or so though, the trials of living with a 20 something male), cal you make me with your "he doesn't have many words though but his shape sorting is quite good etc), I mean in a nice way though, ds has hello, yes and uhoh and says doo in various tones for everything else, has no clue as to shapes, doesn't respond to questions, instructions or anything else! He is fab though and I know it will all come at some point.

Now then, the important one Mr Lennied your DW is pregnant and tired and juggling study and a small child, it is bloody hard work so when you come home from work get yourself off to doing bathtime etc and let her sit down for a bit before she has to hit the books in the evening while you get to relax or you will have a very disgruntled post natal thread after you!

Ds' last molar is coming through, this hopefully explains why he has been refusing to go to bed recently. Apart from yesterday where he bashed his head on the corner of the coffee table while parading naked before his bath (he does love to parade naked) and had calpol before bed as he had a large egg on his head.

LenniEd · 19/05/2008 21:54

Thanks Indith. Came over all emotional reading that nice to have someone fighting my corner Actually he's been nice this evening, perhaps he has realised the error of his ways.

accessorizequeen · 19/05/2008 21:55

Yes, we do talk a lot don't we? Though not as much as the early days...

Ooh, house move, horrible but exciting also. New life, new house, jabber (and hopefully more sleep!).

Oli, did you ring up and get some more info about it? Hope you're not going to sit and worry until june! Sure it will all be fine, can you do a little googling and find out more to reassure yourself?

Hey gloria, welcome back stick around this time

cals, fgs and hopefully NOT elibean, deepest sympathies on the pox. Lennied, boys don't generally get it so bad afaik so don't stress. I always wanted to get it out of the way, still not sure if ds2 has had it as he had one pox spot which stayed the requisite no of days etc. But surely can't be right?

Indith, how are your naps on the sofa going?

I'm with indith to Mr Lennied! My personal strategy is to just nip upstairs for something, lie down and dp normally gets the hint and puts them to bed. Although it did really p*&s dp off when I was in 1st trimester as I was constantly moaning about being tired so he actually did less than usual! Once I stopped moaning so much (whilst still looking exhausted) he kicked in a bit more. Men for you! I'm not talking to my insensitive git of a fiance anyway tonight

Had 1st counselling session today and it was really nice, going back next week! Feeling much more upbeat.

accessorizequeen · 19/05/2008 21:57

Lennied, I didn't mean to sound so insensitive myself about it. It's just dp was the same, and it turned out I had to 'play' him a bit to get some assistance. I'm sure you're not moaning!

Indith · 19/05/2008 22:04

Glad the counselling was good. Have just e-mailed you by the way about playdates

My nap was in my bed while ds had his nap. The sleep when they sleep thing is soooo goood! Why did I not do this when he was a newborn?

I knew I would forget people in the last post! Jabber good luck on the move and Oli do try not to worry, abnormal smears are pretty common, the wonderful thing about the whole legs apart, cold speculum process is that anything slightly odd is quickly found and sorted

FunkyGlassSlipper · 20/05/2008 08:45

Far too much to catch up on.

Eli - might be pox DD1 started with 2 spots and that was all she had for about 12 hours. She had an emotional outburst too which was very out of character. By now you might know though as the spots do come quite think and fast.

We actually got some sleep last night. DD2 woke at 11 and came into my bed so DH in spare room again. But she slept. Yay. So am hoping we might be over the worst. Having to bribe with chocolate to get the medicine into her though!

FunkyGlassSlipper · 20/05/2008 08:48

Btw, forgot the final babysteps

Babystep 30

Babystep 31

Indith · 20/05/2008 11:00

for Oli just in case she doesn't spot it

I will log off now and go do work.

I want more prawn crackers, I have none left

FunkyGlassSlipper · 20/05/2008 12:46

Just to make my day even better my cat has had some kind of accident and may have broken his leg He is at the vets now...

bebespain · 20/05/2008 15:06

Oh no FGS, that sounds awful. Ouch ouch. The poor thing, I really hope its not broken...

Lenni - grr at you DH. I hope he´s started to get his a##e in gear, sounds like he´s turned a corner...Men can be such pains in the rear end, can´t they

DS is fully recovered now - yay! We go back to the hospital tomorrow for a check up - so hope its good news...

Does anybody know which specialist you should see if you´re having bad PMT? Is it a Gynae..? I know I may seem a bit stupid now but I´m really not sure. Since having DS my PMT is getting worse every month, anyone else? (will post on Health too)

Elibean · 20/05/2008 18:32

Bebespain, so glad ds ok now

And hopefully your dd2 following suit, FGS...though poor puss . Yes, we do know, though was only 1-2 spots for almost 24 hours - she has loads teeny ones coming up now, and the two original ones have blistered. Here we go....

AQ, lovely that you had a positive counselling experience - its always a bit hit and miss, IME, as counsellors vary (am critical, used to be one) but when it works out, its such a great resource.

Jabber, sending smooth move vibes (soudns dodgy, but you know what I mean )

And Indith, glad you're getting some rest

Aaargh, why is life such a whirl?!

Olihan · 20/05/2008 20:29

Bebe, my pmt was shocking after ds1. I think it's probably down to hormones being permanently altered by pregnancy. It seems a bit better after ds2, but I can't remember what I was like after dd because I only had 2 periods before I got pg with ds2!

Olihan · 20/05/2008 20:48

Oops, my neighbour came to the door and I got confused and pressed post .

FGS, your poor cat. I hope it's okay. Have you got insurance?

Indith, thanks for the link, I hadn't seen it. Have you got plenty of work done, or caught up on some sleep? I remember afew times after ds2 was born when all 3 dcs were aslepp at the same time so I went to bed too. It was bliss .

Feeling a lot calmer about the colposcopy. I read the leaflet that they sent with the letter (always a good idea!) which confirmed everything you all said. So I can forget about it for a few weeks.

DS2's eczema is dreadful atm. He used to only have it on his feet but it's now spread up his legs to his bottom, a bit on his back/tummy and all down the back of his arms and hands. It's even on his eyelids . I'm using hydrocortisone and Doublebase/Diprobase but it's so red and angry looking. I think it's sore too because he sobbed when I put him in the bath. Poor mite. Anyone got any useful tips for soothing it?

Olihan · 20/05/2008 21:00

Oh Eli, missed that your dd has CP too. I hope she has it mildly - the worst will be over by the end of the weekend, hang onto that thought .

Lennied, glad your dh is being a bit better. IME men just don't get early pg. There's nothing to see or for them to relate to but we are knackered, hormonal and all over the place.

AQ, glad the counselling was good. What have you decided re names?

Elibean · 20/05/2008 21:40

Oli, glad colp worries have faded a bit

dd2's eczema, which I thought had vanished, has flared up too - doesn't sound as bad as your ds's, but still worse than it was. I find if I moisturize and hydrocortisone morning and night, as opposed to just post-bath, it makes all the difference. you're probably doing that already, though? Poor LO.

dd1 has very few full blown spots on body yet, but discovered a nasty sore looking one on outside of labia, and several burgeoning red bumps nearby Put metanium on sore one, in case it was infected...she's not itching yet, just says that one is 'ouch'. Still gave her piriton and calpol before bed, poor love, she's white as a sheet.

Lennied, meant to add dh sympathies before, sorry...FWIW, my dh was wonderful pg-wise during my first pg, but even he was pretty rubbish second time around. I think it seemed even less real that time, to him, early on - it was very much business as usual when it came to chores etc. It changed after I let myself get good and loud

How's the moving going, Jabber?

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 20/05/2008 22:09

FGS - you're really going through it of late. Hope your cat is better soon and it doesn't cost too much.

OP posts:
babypowder · 20/05/2008 22:18

Poor poxy babes Hope you all get some rest tonight.

And your poor cat, FGS

It's only since I went back to work after DD2 aqnd left DH to get them up and off to school/nursery 3 days a week that DH has really rallied round. I don't think he really understood before. And of course the nightly beatings I administered have helped him see the error of his slothful ways

Eczema is so, so awful. When DD1's was really bad I used to give her porridge and bicarb baths which eased it enough to let her sleep.

bebespain · 20/05/2008 22:27

Olihan - glad I´m not the only one then but sorry it was so bad for you. Isn´t it the pits? I really must go to the Docs. This last month was particularly bad and to say my mood was horrendous is nothing short of an understatement.
I am so sorry to hear about your DS2´s eczema, the poor little mite , it must be awful for you both, I can´t even imagine. I wish I had a useful suggestion for you. My friend back home uses oilatum in the bath for her DS and Epaderm.
Somebody on MN swore by a non-prescription cream but I can´t remember for the life of me what it was...goes off to wrack brain...

Elibean · 21/05/2008 07:26

Nightly beatings, how could I forget

Elibean · 21/05/2008 07:28

Morning all, hope LOs, cats, pms, exam stress, morning sickness and all else on the mend...

...CP is impressive, at least to this first timer dd hates creams (legacy of eczema) so I made a short-sighted deal: count spots, divide by 3, and smarties after lunch. Thing is, we're still on day 2/3...

FunkyGlassSlipper · 21/05/2008 08:37

Eli - It will get better.

You have piriton and calpol. Do you have aqeuous calamine cream? Better than the normal calamine lotion. Metanium on any particularly nasty spots.

Dd2 came down with it Thursday night/Friday morning and today appears to be much improved (was still very ratty yesterday). Our worst days were 2-4 so you're nearly over that bit. Does she have many spots now? Some kids dont get that many.

Poor DD2 looks terrible but now the spots are scabbing seems much happier. I am sure the first superspot will scar and unfortunately it is on her top lip The first couple of spots are often the worst.

Cat does indeed have a broken leg. Same leg he broke last year £100 later and he has a bandage from hip to toe and we have to go back tomorrow. He is climbing the walls because he cant go out...

Horomonal ones - are you on the pill? I found my hormones to be savage for the 3 months I went on the pill. Now I have come off I am a normal person again.

FunkyGlassSlipper · 21/05/2008 08:38

And Eli - if you can count the spots she's doing well.DD1 had approx 120 on one harm so I gave up counting. DD2 had about 30 just on the back of her neck

Elibean · 21/05/2008 10:40

Thanks FGS, am glad your dd is on the mend, sounds like they both had it quite badly - at least spot-wise - poor LOs. dd1's first spots appear to be one on her back, and one on her labia - which is v v sore and I've covered in metanium. I think she has some in her anus too. I'm using Eurax on them, because HV said calamine bit drying for eczema-y kids, even cream?? She's not too itchy yet. Friend said if they come fast, days 2-4 are worst, but if slow days 3-5, so am keeping fingers crossed, but no, so far, not too bad. Little girl in next street has a hundred big ones on her face, poor love, so we're feeling lucky.

Lots of get well wishes to Cat, and please tell him he's supposed to be feline and flexible and not break bones! Poor thing, must be a nightmare for all concerned having a cat indoors in plaster.
