Couldn't think of anything contraversial!

Yay for bp marital (I do love that term but we're not so can't use it!). Hee hee. Lady on my oct AN thread telling me to get a shag, I dont think so poor dp.

funny thing is girls have me at sea completely, I only know boys as friends pretty much boys too! DP's mum rang from France to say she'd already bought dress for dt, fgs! I'm not buying anything, she'll be sticking her in frilly knickers before too long.

Not doing too much tonight, bp, sat on my a&se eating choccie. Tv calls. Last night, sat on my a*&e too! Went to lunch at dm's today for dsis's bday and ended up napping in the living room!

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 18/05/2008 21:08

I've read everything and I'm still useless - I need to take notes as I go along!

Hi Calsworld - I found babygroups very, very scary with DD1 and felt very inadequate when there and didn't talk to anyone. It's like being a newbie here - you have to develop a thick skin to give you the courage to actually talk to someone. Netmums is a good place to find out where the local babygroups are.

My friends have children who are different ages and stages - I find it's nice to learn from the mums who have older children and I like to scare the living daylights give advice to the mums with younger children.

DD2 is still in 9-12 months, i'm trying to make the move to 12-18 but they're too big. I'm just putting dd1 in 3-4 (and she's 3.8 yo).

FunkyGlassSlipper · 18/05/2008 21:24

DD2 is now quite poorly You cant see much normal skin on the back of her neck and bottom hakf of her face as it is spotty all over. She resisted going to bed again tonight although DH persevered and got her down...

DD1 (4.3) is wearing 3-4 skirts and trousers now (recently changed from 2-3) but 4-5 tops. She seemed to skip 3-4 tops after a massive growth spurt. DD2 is wearing 9-12 bottoms and 1.5-2 tops. ( she has short legs and a fat tum)

Cant remember anything except BP's marital! Yay.

accessorizequeen · 18/05/2008 21:25

I absolutely agree about groups, margo, I dread having to go to new ones as I expect I shall have to. Much prefer things like music, story time and massage as structured.

Clearly my ds & ama's are same build, he's in 18-24 easy now! DS1 on the other hand is 4.5 and still in 2-3 trousers which are baggy on him! Thank god for adjustable waists.

accessorizequeen · 18/05/2008 21:26

poor little mite, fgs, hopefully worst will be over v.soon!

FunkyGlassSlipper · 18/05/2008 21:28

Dd2 is going to be starting swimming lessons at the end of the month

Gloria42 · 18/05/2008 21:37

Hello everyone! Can I please join in again? Have been so busy I couldn't keep up with all your news, but this shiny new thread has given me the push to stop lurking and take part again!
DS is just adorable! Has been walking for months (yes, not a typo! ) although still barely crawls. Gives the best hugs and kisses, and sleeps through. Not sure I could ask for more, although I'd love to have another but DP cannot be persuaded .

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 18/05/2008 22:01

Poor baby glass -

Hey Gloria - It's really hard to get back into posting. I'm glad you're back.

babypowder · 18/05/2008 22:13

Hello to everyone - calsworld, gloria, ama ( - meant to say that earlier) It's so lovely to have you back. We're not as scary as that lot out there

Of course, Gloria, there's no need for that If you're going to come on here and say things like that, you'd better be prepared to start giving us some lessons.

Lovin the emoticons tonight

babypowder · 18/05/2008 22:14

About getting babies to sleep through, I meant. Not about having more. Definitely not about that.

And there I go again.

calsworld · 18/05/2008 22:29

My goodness, you've all been so busy!! I have been chasing after a supposedly poorly DS all day whilst feeling pretty grotty - went to the drop in centre to get them to look at this spots again, coz there's so few and v small - but nurse confirmed it is chicken pox. Got them to have a look at my throat at the same time and I've got tonsillitis...no wonder I've been so crackered!

DS is walking - I guess he must be one of the oldest on here (anyone else Dec 1st?) and has been for a few months. He's been sleeping through since he was three months old, apart from when he's poorly - but we just bring him into our bed. He soon goes back to sleeeping through in his own bed when he's well again. His language development seems slow - he only knows a few words, and doesn't pronouce those very well...quite good at shape sorting though!

Re groups etc - I work full time and DS goes to nursery so don't have time for any groups! I went when I was on maternity leave but its hard to maintain / develop friendships when you see them so rarely.

We are TTC number two at the moment (i know, we must be mad!) but looking forward to it - if it ever happens!!

Anyway, DH has just arrived back from a four day jolly (paid for by his work) in Bavaria, so best pay him some attention!

FunkyGlassSlipper · 19/05/2008 02:25

calsworld - glad that the chicken pox hasnt affected DS too badly. DD has been up since about 10pm so we're currently watching the baby channel. Her temp went up to 39.3 so she is now dosed to the eyeballs and just wearing a nappy. Temp down and she thinks it is playtime

calsworld · 19/05/2008 08:35

Oh FGS - that's no fun! Lots of sympathy from all here in Cal's World....hope you're sleeping now?

DS has been waking at 6.15 for the last couple of days and I think its a combination of hunger and itching - I've had to give him some piriton this morning so know he's really groggy. He's had a bit of a temperature too but not as bad as your DD.

Re milk etc - DS has virtually all his drinks out of spouted cups. He was exclusively BF till he was about 5.5 months but I'd expressed a few times so he was used to a teat, when we got to 7 months I introduced formula ready for going back to work at 9 months. The idea being that he'd have morning and night BF's and FF during the day - he stopped the BF's about a week before I went back to work though. At the same time as introducing the FF, we introduced spouted cups - but we use the Avent ones - so you just buy the handles and the spouts and you can convert all your bottles to 'cups'. He still uses this and I think the familiarity of the bottle has helped in the transfer.

He has a couple of straw cups too which he gets on well with. He can drink out of a cup but there's just no point trying to give him bedtime milk from one - it would be all down his front!

In terms of quantity, he has it on his weetabix in the morning, then he has milky puddings at nursery, cheese etc and he has between 6 and 9 oz's of whole milk before his bath (or after, if we forget).

I'm not quite sure how much he's supposed to have at this age though.

I wish he'd have a nap!

FunkyGlassSlipper · 19/05/2008 09:01

Hmmmph. I've had about 2 hours sleep.

Dd has milk on cereal in the morning. A very small cup (about 1 inch) am and pm and a yoghurt each day. Cant get any more milk into her. I doubt it is enough but I cant force her to drink it....

Olihan · 19/05/2008 09:36

Oh FGS, can you take it easy today and nap when she does, or is dd1 home today? Hopefully that was the peak and she will get better from now on.

Hi Gloria, nice to have you back . Very of the sleep although ds2 did sleep through last night (probably cos of the 5mls of Medised I gave him at bedtime because of his tooth!).

DS2 gives the lovliest cuddles, really wrapping his arms tight around my neck and snuggling in. I'd forgotton how gorgeous they are when they learn to cuddle properly.

Freaking out slightly this morning. I've had 2 abnormal smears recently and now they've called me for a colposcopy. The procedure doesn't boher me but the thought of what they might find is scaring me. The appointment's not until the end of June either so I've got plenty of time to wind myself into blind panic [watery ].

calsworld · 19/05/2008 10:22

FGS, sounds like you need some time out - do you have anyone to help out so you can get some rest? Not that I imagine DD will want anyone other than you when she's feeling so poorly.

DS has come out in another bout of spots this morning, including a cluster on his chin - he looks like a little cricket player with calamine cream on his cheak and chin!

Can't complain though, I've had loads of sleep compared to the rest of you.

Olihan, I'm sure everything will be fine - I think its quite common to have a colposcopy - I seem to have read about a lot of people having them over the last few weeks.

Gloria42 · 19/05/2008 10:41

Thanks girls, it's good to be back!

Re cpox, touch wood DS hasn't had it yet although he has been in contact several times. But I remember having it myself at about 10. My mum used to make us jump up and shake our arms and legs like mad-people (my DB had it at the same time) to try and stop us scratching. Something to do with the blood rushing to the extremities is supposed to be like an internal-scratch!

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 19/05/2008 11:13

FGS - fame at last hey? (re cod thread)

OP posts:
FunkyGlassSlipper · 19/05/2008 11:29

Thanks everyone. No chance of sleep. DD2 is whinging and I have to get DD1 from pre-school in 30 mins.

jabberwocky · 19/05/2008 13:30

So sorry the pox has turned nasty, FGS

Moving truck is coming sometime this morning so I'm off to run around like mad and do last minute packing.

Ds2 got up at 5:00 in addition to his regular once-nightly awakening

castlesintheair · 19/05/2008 14:22

Good luck with the move Jabber.

Get well soon baby FGS's

Olihan I've had abnormal smears/CIN2/coloscopy before. Why haven't they told you what it's for? They shouldn't leave you worrying. Can't you ring them to find out? If it's abnormal (pre-cancerous) cells then they just zap them with laser and send you packing. Which reminds me, I'm due for another smear.

Welcome back Gloria and everyone else

DD2 drinks about 3 cups of milk a day plus she has weetabix and milk and yoghurts and cheese. This is pretty much what all my DCs have been like. DS (6) now drinks no milk but he eats cheese etc. DD1 (4) could still live on the stuff. And chocolate.

Elibean · 19/05/2008 18:56

((Oli)) know several women who've had the zap thing done, and been fine ever since...hopefully you won't even need that, though. Fingers crossed for minimal worries.

Hi Gloria

FGS, given your recent experience, does this sound poxy to you? dd1 sore throat, fell asleep in front of tv saturday night: unheard of. Fine sunday, then woke v early this morning, fell asleep (not surprisingly) on floor again this afternoon, woke with temp of 38.3 and headache, has one suspicious spot on back and teeny one on chest...

Am so sorry your dd2 has it badly, its exactly whats worrying me - that dd1 will have it mildly, then pass it on big time to dd2, who is starting eczema as it is. Eeek.

Elibean · 19/05/2008 18:56

Good luck, Jabber!

Elibean · 19/05/2008 18:57

dd2 has about 500mls milk per day, given half the chance, plus a bit of yoghurt and soggy shreddies most days. No idea what she's meant to be taking now

calsworld · 19/05/2008 19:09

Ooh, sorry Jabber, good luck with the move!
