princessllama · 18/05/2008 21:29

thanks for all the support. it really helps. things improved then got worse. went back to the hospital and they were great. i have a prescription for ab.s which i'm holding out on and they took a milk sample so can see if still have thrush in breasts. basically, have decided that if i need to take the ab.s i'm going to stop the bf. can't bear all the colicky pain and as it is he only gets max 2oz from me each feed. will keep going with pumping and massage and homeopathic remedy and nurofen until either it goes or things disintegrate.on the plus side, i have a brill excuse to spend hours in the bath because of the milk let down/massage etc
leesmum must be a weird feeling your first lo starting school, can't imagine dd even starting nursery.
well done on all the rolling babies. ferdie has just learnt how to push his head off the bed which is great as he sleeps on his tummy! also he's learning to suck his thumb and i'm pinning my hopes on rozzy's son's improved sleep after he found his.
beany-not able to eat -what a great diet! well done on reaching target weight must feel good.
has anyone had a coil fitted? am considering the one without hormones as had big probs with hormonal contraceptives in the past. anyone have experience?

rozzyraspberry · 18/05/2008 21:43

Hi princess - I'm glad hospital were good and you seem happy that you at least have a plan as to whether or not to stop bf. Unfortunately ds3 is not going so long between feeds during the night at the mo despite having his thumb. But he has for the past week being having his naps in his cot which has made a huge difference

Beany - very jealous that you've hit your target - but I'd rather be fat than go through what you've been through this week!!

tyaca · 18/05/2008 22:11

ugh pl - hospital at the w/end? that alone sounds rubbish. are you taking the abs now or are you going to hold out and see what happens with the baths and the massages etc? jealous for all of you whose lo have found their thumbs, dd finds hers maybe one in ten times. the other times she just bashed her head with her fist. its quite sweet to watch her cross-eyed attempts, but also the main reason we've re-resorted to swaddling

gil - lol, do we have a new MN acronym?? instead of BLW is it DH-LW??

bean - thats my tumbleweed, give it back . glad you sound chirpier. i would be v envious of your weightloss, save for the fact that i lost four pounds this week. had had three weeks in a row of no weight loss, so really appreciate such a big lot off in one go.

leesmum - sooo nice to hear from you. a school with a treehouse sounds like lovely. i was about to write that i hope your smear not painful but then i remembered childbirth...

rozza, i cannot believe you write that 20miles on treadmill so casually. that is SO much running. are you a secret proper runner? dh is doing his first marathon in sept and i am tempted to enter a 10k. we have just had a geeky evening imputting our weeks times into a spreadsheet

Bessie123 · 18/05/2008 23:40

It has taken me forever to get round to posting; I never seem to have time to go on the internet anymore. I just wanted to pop in to see how you are all doing.

Princess - it sounds like you're having a horrible time, I hope things improve for you soon.

I have saved a couple of old pics of dd onto my profile

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 19/05/2008 08:40

Bessie welcome back!!! its great to hear from you,

How are things going???

Your DD is beautiful xxx

DS has just done night 3 with no nappies in bed!!! had an accident at 5am but other than that he has been dry!!! Woohoo!!! (he was 3 in jan)

Go back to work tonight and i really do not want to!!!!!

Bessie123 · 19/05/2008 09:40

Thanks, Sarah. Everything is going really well; dd is just perfect (despite waking up at 4.00 this morning) and I am so happy to have her. What is this work thing?

Is anyone going to volunteer a v brief summary of what I've missed? x

Gill79 · 19/05/2008 09:49

Hi Bessie - welcome back. I think the title says it all! Most of us still around although PK and Mini missing in action at the mo.

No change for me this week - I did actually drop another couple of pounds in the week but a weekend full of sausage casserole and cheese sandwiches has put them back on.
But YIPPEEE I can now fit into my gorgeous karen millen top again - what a surprise - we have a "do" and 3 weddings coming up and couldn't afford to buy anything as nice again. Danced round the house feeling fab in it before realising completely impossible to feed in it without taking the whole thing off. Rats.

Gill, you're so lucky you're starting to fit back into your old clothes. I can only get on my biggest pair of fat jeans and they are v tight. Otherwise, I'm just in my maternity clothes. So I've decided it's time to join your weight loss club - I hope that's ok - you all seem to be doing well and I'm feeling like such a porker.

Bessie I'm still in preg jeans (and even bought another pair!) welcome on board.

Egg · 19/05/2008 10:38

Morning all. Sorry not been around much lately. Been having a bit of a trying time with DD and her feeds / wind / poo / endless crying day and night.

Good news first, I have lost another pound .

Princess I can't believe how upbeat you manage to sound despite all your setbacks. I hope things start improving for you very soon.

Welcome back to Bessie . Your DD is indeed very gorgeous. Cannot possibly even try to do a synopsis of events for you, so much has happened!

Leesmum good to see you, it's been a while. My DS1 would love a treehouse at nursery. They do have a lovely garden with slides and stuff though, plus lots of cars to ride on and a wendy house etc out there so he can't complain.

Cosima hope DS is pooing a bit less now . We are getting an average of 5 a day from DD at the mo so I kind of know how you feel. I only see Eastenders when it is on at 8pm, as usually only get DS1 to bed at 7:30 so then am busy tidying up, washing bottles etc.

Tyaca and Rozzy well done on the treadmill! I can't even use a treadmill I fall off. Have been crap at getting on the exercise bike lately too. Just don't have time or inclination.

Tyaca you made me with your scrabble comment.

No rolling going on here. DD has rolled a couple of times from her front to her back, but really by accident. They both try to roll from back to front but can only get about halfway. I think DS1 was about 5 months when he rolled but I might be wrong. He spent a lot more time on the floor and I spent more time playing with him and helping him to roll etc, these poor two get dumped on the floor while I get on with other things.

Drove to London and back on Saturday for my sis's bday. Didn't think I could go as DH working at home that day but he said he would be ok with babies so me and DS1 jumped in the car and surprised my sis. Was fab except DS1 got car sick just as we arrived. Thankfully not much in car (I whipped him out asap) and I had a change of clothes with him for him so it was ok, I was just terrified it would happen again on way home but he was ok [phew].

Bean glad you are sounding much better now with your drugs. Agree with you on the soup thing tho, I don't even eat soup myself much as the salt content is nearly always VERY high and babies have to avoid all salt if poss until age 1 I think. Homemade soup of course would be fine .

Rozzy can you complain about the mobile? Was it new for DS3? Should not have broken yet if so. You can probably get a cheap one from Argos or something that might keep him happy for a few more months. DD loves hers, poor DS2 hasn't got one since he moved to his own cot .

Right, I must get on, discovered a disposable nappy somehow made its way into the washing machine so my entire load of washing is covered in the horrible gel type filling that has exploded everywhere. Washing machine is full of it .

Oooh Gill, what's wrong with taking the entire top off at the wedding ?

Cosima - how's the pooing going? hope all returning to normal.

Ty - what WAS in the bins?

Bean, hows things, you've had such a crappy time lately, Princess - you too - hope you're both doing ok

Gill, haven't tried this but i read soemwhere that a cold (raw) peeled carrot is a good natural teether, not sure if it works! let me know of you try it.

Not much going on here, i think i like it that way! Am just making most of being at home an trying not to think about going back to work

gingermumi · 19/05/2008 10:57

too scared to get on scales, haven't been to gym and have been eating crap, am still in big jeans and bf tops, gave up mat jeans on principle and bought two pairs of cheap jeans in new look, live in those. Did try old jeans the other day but they are so tight breathing would be an issue! Am sticking to 'comfy' until old jeans fit properly.

tyaca · 19/05/2008 11:06

hey egg - sorry to hear about the poo-arama and the crying. how is your dd eating at the moment? must be tough when its all in such sharp contrast with her twin brother (and then there's the workload too... ) ... fair play to your dh for taking the twins off your hands while he worked ... did he actually get much work done? seems v improbable

lovely to have you back bessie and v nice to see pics of your gorgeous dd. i can do up one pair of pre-preg jeans (the baggiest ones)... but other than that i'm in maternity clothes and leggings. oh, thank god for leggings.

sarah - what are your hours going to be? hopefully not too long. good luck tonight.

gill - wd on the karen millen top. we are going to the muslim equivalent of a christening on sunday, and i have nothing to wear. BUT the good news is that i can get my wedding and engagements rings on for the first time since i hit the 8 month preg mark.

x-posts ginger - i took so long typing my posts. i have no idea what happened with the bins - isnt that a shame? lol @ your doing very little comment. my SIL (who has two under three) asked me what i did with my days and i did conceded that aside from daily walks and some v light housework, i basically do BOG ALL .

rozzyraspberry · 19/05/2008 11:15

hi everyone.

No weight loss for me this week but at least I haven't put any back on I suppose. Well done on the 4 lbs tyaca. I'm definitely not a proper runner but my stamina has really improved since having the boys - maybe if I had 10 kids my stamina would improve enough to do a marathon. I build up my distances by running until I'm tired then walking for 1/2 mile then speeding up again to run another 1/2 mile. The most I've run without stopping now is 5 miles

On the natural teethers I saw a thread the other day talking about making ice lollies out of ebm for hot days and teething - I thought that was a fab idea - like a mummy milk maid!

Hi Bessie - glad you're enjoying motherhood.

Egg - must have been nice to get some one on one time with ds1. How did dh cope with the twins?

Good luck at work tonight Sarah. How is dhs job hunting going?

I'm now not sure if I have a cold or an allergy. I can't breathe out of my nose and it's constantly streaming. My eyes are stingy and watery too - last time I was like this was when I was pregnant and discovered I was allergic to the chlorine in our local pool. Can't think what I could be allergic to now though as I don't think I've been in contact with anything new recently.

Egg · 19/05/2008 11:21

FOrgot to say good luck to Sarah going back to work tonight .

DS1 used to also "chew" celery when he was teething. Also putting an ice cube in a sock is a good one.

Leesmum I also forgot to say, we can't fit all three carseats in a row in our car, you have to have one on the front passenger seat with the airbag disabled. We have had to hire a car for our holiday as we can't all fit in ours, esp not with all the blooming luggage...

tyaca · 19/05/2008 11:26

hi rozza - hayfever?? lots of people i know are suddenley starting to get it.

leesmum · 19/05/2008 12:34

Hi rozzy could the problem be your sinuses? you could have an infection. I had this once and every time i bent over i thought my head would split in two! And i too haven't lost any weight but haven't put it on either

Ds1 would chew on an old flannel that i kept in a sandwich bag in the fridge He would't entertain any of the "proper" teething rings.

Sarah hope it goes ok at work tonight, and has your hubby had any luck yet? Thats pants being made redundant

Ginger how's Toby doing? when do you go back to work?

Tyaca i would have loved a treehouse when i was growing up, these kids don't realise how good they have it.

Egg have you got the house to yourself again today?

Hi bessie xx

has anyone heard from Jo or pk in a while? hope they're ok.

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 19/05/2008 12:35

hi ladies thanks for wishing me luck- i have not worked for 3 years so its gonna be a bit of a shock!!!!

Only 6pm til 9 pm cleaning at the local hospital- was there yesterday visiting my grandad who has numonia(sp) at the mo, and it was so hot- the weight loss will be fab
!!!!!!!!

OP posts:
Egg · 19/05/2008 13:11

Wow, a free sauna while you work .

Hope your grandad is ok.

I do indeed have house to myself today, but took me ages to sort the washing machine out, have done two loads of washing and got my new rotary dryer set up outside. Then have hoovered whole house, got to clean kitchen floor still, and make DH's sandwiches, and wash bottles from last night STILL, get bottles ready for later, blaa blaa blaa. But I have been on exercise bike just now and had a bath. Also managed to wash my hair this morning .

Egg · 19/05/2008 13:14

BTW sarah, all the ladies who came in and cleaned my room when I was in hospital having DTs were lovely, they were all so nice and friendly, do you know which wards / areas you will be doing?

tyaca · 19/05/2008 13:56

hair washed is v impressive, egg, my hair takes forever to wash and dry and always falls to the bottom of my priority list.

just uploaded a couple of new pics. they're of my dd plus my dh. going to have to remove them in a couple of days, as dh not best pleased when i put pics of him on net. BUT they so sweet, i couldnt resist. one of them is from a while back, maybe when she was six weeks old. she was having a real mare of a night and dh had stepped in to bounce her in his arms, as that calmed her. i'd heard nothing from bedroom for over an hour, went in to see what i later snapped. do you know, i keep on snapping these cute spontaneous moments of dh and dd so lots of great pics of them - but he never does the same thing with me.... i end up asking and posing and the pics never as good ... maybe i'm just a better photographer ... or maybe i'm in denial about how much impact that extra stone and a half has on me!

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 19/05/2008 14:29

Egg- I will be on outpatients and other day clinics as far as i know but i will be trained on the wards too- would like to get on maternity at some point as i think in a few years i might look into becoming a midwife- no definates at the mo though!!!!!!

My grandad is much better than last week he gave us all a real scare and was admitted on thursday- he was talking complete nonsense to me although he is 84 its not like him so we called the doc and she sent of paramedics!!! i saw him last nite and he seemed himself again just very sleepy!!!!!

OP posts:
sarahmikeharryandrosie · 19/05/2008 14:31

sorry meant to add the pics are lovely Ty, your dh should be proud of them-why are men so shy??? i know what you mean about dh not getting many pics i hate having my photo taken so dh never bothers unless i ask but i think i will regret it later in life!!!!

makes mental note to pose more!!!!!
