Hi Ladies thought i wouls open the thread but i have no imagination- hence the title!!!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
leesmum · 09/08/2008 09:26

Beany hillarious we must have that title

CountTo10 · 09/08/2008 09:28

Morning Egg - personally I think a host who offers something sparkling ahead of tea/coffee always goes down as tops in my book!!! I'm up near High Wycombe/Reading but Winchester is really easy to get to so if you guys meet up that way again I shall defo come and join you.

leesmum · 09/08/2008 09:29

Egg i think "Cockey" is the word you're looking for lol

Egg · 09/08/2008 09:44

Oh no I didn't mean that leesmum . He just sounds really cheeky like my DS1 except older so he can express his cheekiness more!

Count we will definitely "count" you in [ho ho] if we sort another meet up, although I think I might be pushing it to have it here again!

BTW, the house was left in probably a tidier state than it was before you all arrived (Gill even cleaned my garden table folks). All I had to do was throw a few paper plates in the bin and throw a few forks in the dishwasher.

Also, I have gained a fabulous penguin who squeaks when he is shaken. It must be either Tyaca's or Beany's as have checked with Ginger and Gill already.

beansprout · 09/08/2008 09:50

We know no penguin fitting that description.

Egg - would a meet up v near Waterloo be possible for you? There is a Giraffe (v child/baby friendly restaurant) nearby that happens to be on the South Bank so good for strolling/finding a patch of grass to all sit on. Totally understand if that's not possible (although we could always send Gill down to help you on the journey? )

Egg · 09/08/2008 10:01

Yep was thinking that could be an option. OK the train journey might not be fun, mainly because I think I would have to stay in the doorwell bit as can't take pushchair into train but can't put both babies on lap, but tbh that's not a problem as at least if they were yelling I wouldn't be peeing so many people off, and you lot did the train (you Bean with TWO small children) to come and see me. Also at least at Waterloo you get off the train and there are no steps, so I would only have steps right at the beginning of the journey as no steps when I got back.

However, having said all this, it would of course have to be a Thursday again as would not want to do train with DS1 as well, and this would mean I would need to be back in good time to collect DS1, but if we are meeting at Waterloo we could prob meet earlier as not as far for you lot to go?

Sorry. Rambling on here....

leesmum · 09/08/2008 10:17

Egg my Ds1 is VERY cockey at the moment but also very funny x

Slacker · 09/08/2008 11:20

Hi everyone, dropping in to say hello as my littlest boy is 6 months old today! He is still totally delightful, and as an added bonus he sleeps a good part of the night in his moses basket, so not too much sleep deprivation here. He's still fully breastfed but we're going to start solids imminently - he's already had bits of till receipt etc go right through him so I know he can cope!

He's had his first holiday (camping in Cornwall), his first trip to London (I took the other kids to the theatre and daddy walked him up and down the South Bank for several hours!), and even his first trip to Alton Towers the other day! He rolls and can move himself around without actually crawling, I think for the first time ever I'm going to have to buy a playpen just to keep him safe in our chaotic house. Except the cats will probably take refuge in it...His brothers and sister all still adore him and there's always someone around to play with him.

I put a couple of pics on my profile, the top one is the most recent but he decided not to look at the camera.

Anyone else thinking about more babies??

tyaca · 09/08/2008 11:28

was it basingstoke that was half way between waterloo and winchester?? . i was thinking that any time out-of-towners are in london// down south you should def announce on the thread so we can arrange a meet up to coincide.

egg - the squeaky penguin is esther's - consider it a courting gift to jacob .

bean - did not go OUT with MIL. that'd be one step too far. she came here and we made good work on a box [chav emoticion] of wine. she apparently felt fine this morning . but then she wasnt up at baby oclock

dh has gone out on a run and i have just retried on all my clothes. they look great and i really want to wear them today for friends visiting. CANT see myself however explaing to dh why i spent twice as much on myself as on him... so you guys will have to indulge me here as i boast about my TKMaxx French Connection jeans from £70 to £30 which are a bit Katie-Holmes-Flarey AND a Calvin Klein lovely summer dress for £20 with an original price tag of £180... oh i wish i could wear them.

Egg · 09/08/2008 13:44

Hello Slacker! We mentioned you on Thursday at our meet up as we were trying to remember if you had four or five children and how well you seem to cope! Are you thinking of more then? I for one am most certainly not not not not ever having more .

Tyaca we will rinse and return said Penguin at next meet up but must be honest, Jacob is obsessed with it and can make it squeak as he shakes it up and down with reckless abandon.

Must admit I did also think at a night out with MIL. However I do tend to drink more when MIL is around as it helps me to get through the excruciating conversations!

Just heard that DH's cousin has had her baby after many years of trying and having used IVF . Really chuffed for them. However they have chosen the single most bizarre name that I cannot post on here as the poor lad is surely the only person in the world with this name and if she is an MNer I don't want her to know I am being all judgey (they are both English born and bred so not just a name from a different culture or anything). I was when I heard it this morning.

Basingstoke is indeed a good idea for a meet up. I think it is about 30 mins drive from here so I could maybe even manage it with DS1 as well (he can handle journeys of approx 30 mins without being sick). Having said that I cannot do it with DS1 as well as do not want to have to put DD in a sling all day and can't bring two pushchairs [grr].

I was always the worst offender of buying clothes and then getting them out a week or two later and saying "this old thing". Also very much an offender at going Christmas shopping and getting ZERO purchases for anyone but me. Your clothes sound fab though Tyaca, I would still wear them and confess all though, rather than pass up a perfect opportunity for showing off my new outfit.

Everyone in my house asleep. Yes everyone. Well except me. DS1, DS2, DD and DH all in bed asleep . Poor DH, he had to get up at 7:30 this morning....... (guess who was up at 6:15am).

Can't complain though, apart from a small meltdown from DD at 10pm, when I actually would have been cursed by the night nanny as I brought DD downstairs. She was so upset and hysterical as she couldn't breathe through her snotty nose, so she came for some decongesting and cuddles. She couldn't believe her luck when she saw her daddy and the television in the middle of the night.

Wonder if it is too late to add some boxes of wine to my Tesco order that's coming tomorrow. Boxes are not chavvy!!!! They are what sensible people buy surely (must admit not ever bought one, but my parents used to and they are very far from chavvy, being ever so posh...).

Oh dear, I seem to be making up for lost time and my verbal diarrhea (sp) is happening again. Must turn off computer, must turn off computer....

Egg · 09/08/2008 13:47

Slacker just looked at your pics. Your children are very gorgeous. So I think you have have four sons and one daughter (sorry I know you have said before but my brain is a bit sieve-like).

Also presume that is you in the top pic? Aherm - a little bit stunning yourself! No wonder your children are lovely!

Egg · 09/08/2008 13:52

I have not turned computer off...

Leesmum I had a peek at your pics too. I love the one of DS1 with the dinosaur. Still also love the one entitled "my two favourite men" (hope your DH doesn't mind...).

And my final comment (for now), I saw on your recent threads list leesmum the "Mark Foster - would you" thread. My goodness, I have been harbouring indecent thoughts about this man for a few weeks since we have been glued to the tv every Friday night at 8pm watching Superstars. Thank goodness he is in a sport than means wearing Speedos is obligatory (note to girls from Thursday's meet up, some men can look good in Speedos while bending over).

gingermumi · 09/08/2008 13:58

wow, so much to catch up on... good to see some old faces popping back to say hello.

Something v wierd happened here...we all slept in 'til 11am! . Moved ds's cot next to bed so i can hold his hand (trying to stop him from waking every half hour or so). he only woke a couple of times, i fed him about 8am, took him bed with us and the next thing i know it's 11am! of course getting up for a wee is nigh on impossible and involves som moves the olympic gymnatsics team would be proud of but at least ds slept better!

We're going to buy a play pen later (am v impressed by egg's) and want to get some bowls with a sucker on the botton...can anyone recommend good ones, bought a tommee tippee magic mat which is supposed to make any bowl stick, blardy useless!

If we went to basingstoke is train any better for you egg?

Am going to put pics on my profile of meet up

gingermumi · 09/08/2008 14:01

Am v of tyacas shopping trip, fab bargains! am going to check out mark foster wheile is sort pix

Egg · 09/08/2008 14:07

Basingstoke is pretty easy on train or car I think, but I would choose car unless we go somewhere impossible to park as means I don't have to get double buggy up steps, plus I tend to have to take so much stuff out with me (pukey babies = changes of clothes galore, plus obv two bottles each and milk for both etc) that car would be easier if it is doable.

and at sleeping til 11am! I remember I shared a room with DS1 on hols last summer (went with just my sis and our kids and no husbands) and had never shared with him before. I was pg with DTs and was always terrified of getting up to wee in night (8 times) as he was such a light sleeper. If it was anything past 5am I had to lie there in agony or risk waking him up and him not getting back to sleep.

Had all three DCs in playpen yesterday. DS1 got in with DD, and then he asked if DS2 could come in too . They looked so cute but not worth trying to get a pic as the blooming activity arch blocked out at least one of their heads from every angle.

As for suction bowls etc, it is all in the table itself, rather than the bowls. If you have a plastic / metal / mdf type table then things stick nicely, if you have a wooden table that might have an ever so slightly grainy surface then nothing sticks. They should stick well on something like a highchair tray but we don't have trays. I gave up having tried the mat you mentioned and also a suction bowl that comes with a suction spoon and fork (still use bowl every day but don't bother with suction bit).

Notice I have still not turned computer off . I was supposed to be doing some online chores but have only managed one (ordering new toner for my picture printer so I can get the last 3 months worth of pic printed of DCs).

Egg · 09/08/2008 14:08

this suction bowl does look quite good though!

Egg · 09/08/2008 14:09

But I have now just seen they are £11 per bowl. Perhaps not worth the risk that they might not stick either????????????????????????????

Egg · 09/08/2008 14:12

this is the one we have that was crap at sticking to our table (but did stick nicely to the highchair tray on our travel highchair).

Egg · 09/08/2008 14:13

While I am at it maybe I should try to fill the thread all on my own, I do like to get the final post on a thread . Although we need to get new thread up and running so we can link to it so nobody gets lost, and I don't want to do the new thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lljkk · 09/08/2008 15:01

Any thread title that mentions poo gets my vote, really winds up the MN thread title snobs.

beansprout · 09/08/2008 15:14

I'm a bit wary of suction bowls as I saw a baby pull one off once - can you can imagine how quickly it went once it actually came away and, what happened to the contents of the bowl. Still, probably less messy than bowls being knocked off all the time. A bit double or quits really....

Not sure if Basingstoke would work for me until Ds1 goes back to nursery in September, as it's still 90 minutes away and I was shattered after Thursday (fab though it was). Could definitely do September though!

Count me on the Mark Foster leching please! I have also managed to dream about David Tennant and Colin Firth this week. On separate nights though - I'm not that kind of girl!

gingermumi · 09/08/2008 16:27

thanks for links to bowls, the £11 one is a bit pricey but it says it's guaranteed. Might go to babiesru us to get play pen so will look there first i think.

i don't mind where we meet but a tues or thurs will be best days for me from september.

Am having trouble getting pics on, so will get dh to resize them, i think resolution is too high.

Looked up mark foster... yummy body!

bean- david and colin on the same night would have been so impressive (but surely exhausting!), i think you're right - better to pace yourself!

gingermumi · 09/08/2008 16:28

998 posts, someone has to do it and i don't know how!!!!

Gill79 · 09/08/2008 16:40
