Now paint your face blue, and stick your tongue out at the world - end especially the half-wit-mid-life-crisis-lacking-common-sense-PMT-suffering-eejits we otherwise call men.

eandh, ratbunny, susie, UD - this one's for you

2Happy · 01/06/2008 20:25

SHIT Loosh dh and I totally shocked, poor ds . And you were so worried something would go wrong. So unfair. Poor poor ds. Are you ok? What are you going to do with your week now? Was lovely seeing you yesterday, what a bastard it didn't work out. Did you go to Wansbeck (Ashington) or Berwick? Shit. Not fair.

laughalot · 02/06/2008 13:21

Bloody hell loosh thats terrible hope he is a bit better today .

I thought you all might like to know iv got the shits . Maybe ill lose a few pounds before the hol. Talking of hols I have booked next years already let me see if I can do a link. www.wowhotels.com/bodrum/

SmoothandWilkie · 02/06/2008 14:37

Loosh - that is terrible. Poor little DS. I think that is incredibly irresponsible of the owner and am certain that they would have to compensate you in some way. Personally I would seek legal advice. Have they said whether it will scar?

I had a bit of a nightmare on Friday - tell me if you think I have overreacted. Went to pick J up from nursery on Fri night after work and all the kids were in the outdoor area at the front of the nursery. I couldn't see J but his keyworker told me he was in the playhouse so I stood by it and called him. He didn't come. The keyworker looked in and said 'Oh he's not there, where is he then?' and looked at the other worker who said 'I bet he's gone round the side', so she disappeared off round the side of the building (which is also enclosed) and came back about 3 mins later holding him sayin 'God, he had opened the gate and gone through into the other bit!'. I said quite sharply 'WHAT other bit?' and they said 'Oh don't worry, it's still enclosed it's just round the back'.

I didn't say anything but when I got home I kept thinking about it and got more and more angry. WHY wasn't he in sight? What would have happened if he had fallen? Or climbed up and out (which he can do). What if someone had snatched him.

So I called the nursery this morning after dropping him off and spoke to the manager. She is SO angry and has rung me a few times to apologise and say that she is talking to the staff involved.

I know nothing DID happen to him but what if it HAD? Do you think I have overreacted or would you be annoyed too?

laughalot · 02/06/2008 14:44

Wilkie I would have been soooooooooo angry no it isnt right if that has happened my opinion is there isnt enough people looking after the amount of kids they have. I am so for you.

SmoothandWilkie · 02/06/2008 14:50

I am REALLY annoyed. I couldn't sleep on Friday night thinking about it. What if he had climbed and fallen? How long was he in that bit on his own. It is far away from the play area.

laughalot · 02/06/2008 14:54

How much longer is he there wilkie ?

2Happy · 02/06/2008 14:59

Were there any staff members in the back bit?

OP posts:
laughalot · 02/06/2008 15:03

Hi 2happy how are you

2Happy · 02/06/2008 15:04

Knackered. ds2 was up half the night. Again. Just when we were thinking of moving him into ds1's room! How's you? Taking it any easier today?!!

OP posts:
SmoothandWilkie · 02/06/2008 15:05

No - it is a courtyard bit round the back, there are a few broken plastic toys, a container with water in it (!) and a drain which is quite deep. The front area goes down the side and is gated, he had somehow opened the gate and got into the back deserted bit.

2Happy · 02/06/2008 15:08

OK, thought it was pretty bad that the lass didn't know where he was, but for him to be in an enclosed area with no-one supervising - sorry but that's grounds to go completely apeshit!

OP posts:
laughalot · 02/06/2008 15:09

I so wouldnt be happy about that wilks.

2happy you dont have alot of luck on the sleep front bless you. L has been a bit unsetteled with her teeth but generaly she is a good girl. I tell you what I am pooing for england I dont know what is a matter we have all ate the same things. You never know he may sleep better with db.

2Happy · 02/06/2008 15:15

I suspect they'd wind each other up something rotten and neither would get any sleep! I'm still keen to give it a whirl, just to see what happens. dh isn't so sure - but he wasn't the one who was up half the night last night!
Hope there's not about to be a tummy bug going around your place - there's been so many bugs on this thread! Hope you're not feeling too poorly.
Apparently the nursery teacher wants me to come in for a chat... Now why do I instantly feel like a naughty schoolgirl?!

OP posts:
wonderwomanakaeandh · 02/06/2008 16:03

Wilks I would be livid and personally would want at least a verbal warning given to the staff involved, ffs there was water round there and he was on his own and it can only take seconds for an accident to happen

Laughalot - matey have you taken any immodium? Just thinks of those lbs you may have lost

2happy - sympathies on the sleeping last night was the first night in months they both slept in their own beds all night except ellie woke up and wet the bathroom floor as she couldnt get her pj's off in time [sigh emoticion more cleaning up]

Manic at work today because of all the press speculation about Bradford & Bingley had loads of customers calling/coming in and then they disbelieve what you tell them so why the f**k do they bother coming in aaaarghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh 57 minutes and I can go home

theAfkaUrbanDryad · 02/06/2008 20:06

Wilkie - I would go utterly apeshit if that happened and I would also withdraw him immediately. Sorry. The nursery should never have let him get out of sight - I know he's getting to be a big boy now but he should still be supervised all the time! How many staff were on in the garden to how many children IYSWIM? At Z's nursery there are always at least 2 staff to one child when they are outside - and 1 to 1 ratio for park visits, country walks etc, i think they have parent helpers as well. To have let him get round the side entrance is totally unacceptable. How do you know something like that won't happen again?

In other (but sort of related) news - Z can now open the front door! MIL bought him this shitty plastic chair thing and he uses it to climb up, open the latch and then escapes! I found him halfway down the road on Sunday! I still go cold thinking about it! Still - at least I know I've only myself to blame, and I know it won't happen again as the plastic chair has been abandoned in the garden and the door is now double locked!

When did they get to be such monkeys?!

LaL - hope you feel better soon. xxx

katwith3kittens · 03/06/2008 11:14

Bloody Hell to all 3 incidents !!

Wilkie : do you have an alternative you could use or are you on the whole pleased with it? at least the manager seems to be as angry as we all are presumably taking steps to make sure this never happens again.

Loosh: something similar happened to me many years ago in Switzerland or Austria (cant remember where St Anton is now.....) we were sharing a ski chalet and i was in the shower when all of a sudden the cold water went off and I was scaleded. As an adult I was able to turn the water off immediately but I dread to think what would have happened if I couldn't. I complained but unfortunately got nowhere. The company said they would be putting up 'caution hot water signs'.

As this happened in the UK you may be better placed to do something about it. Complain to the rental people and the Tourist board, they will probably wont want to loose a star or a rose or whatever their markers are. Hope all is OK now. It probably wont scar (hopefully ) as their skin is so good at renewing itself at this age.

UD: plastic chairs are cheap and nasty, fall over at the slightest touch. Bin and get yourself down to Ikea where they do (or did many moons ago) really nice wooden ones which are a lot more stable.

LO is always getting out but thats mainly because the older 2 leave the gate open. Luckily we are in a cul de sac of 8 houses and hardly any cars, but nontheless my heart still lurches when I realise he's at the front !

Horrible day here. Rain Rain Rain. but on the plus side I've bought LO a fab Togz waterproof suit so we'll be out later when he's awake doing some splashing. Shame the hair will end up a frizzy mess though !

2Happy · 03/06/2008 14:13

Good grief. ds1 is ^supposed to be having his afternoon nap, all I can hear is him singing "happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear ds1, happy birthday to you" and then saying "one, two, threeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!".

D'you think he has a suspicion it's his 3rd birthday next week?!

OP posts:
katwith3kittens · 03/06/2008 14:38

Maybe he's singing to my DS?

Its his birthday today... cakes in the oven and smells goooood !!!!

2Happy · 03/06/2008 14:46

Ooooh! Happy Birthday him!! Hope the cake tastes good

theAfkaUrbanDryad · 03/06/2008 19:07

KW3 - MIL got him the fecking chair, and i refused to have it in the house. So she let him have it for a bit, and of course he loved it, and then she took it off him and of course he cried! So from upstairs all I can hear is, "Granny wants you to have it darling, but Mummy said no." So we brought it with us. Grr...

Happy birthday to the older ones!!

ratbunny · 03/06/2008 19:36

hi everyone
I have been trying to keep up - so many horrible stories recently! loosh - I would be so at the towel rail thingy. It shouldn't be allowed to get that hot.
and as for wilkie's nursery I am and . That is so irresponsible. Make a formal complaint, definitely. A 16mo shouldnt be unsupervised!
urban - can you accidently break the chair?

sorry to everyone I have missed.
I am feeling quite positive at the mo. Had a rough weekend, with xh keeping calling about stuff. I told him not to call me anymore, and to leave me alone so I can get over everything. Then I got stronger again.
I painted the bedroom! That really helped.
Then I went climbing ALL DAY on sunday. It was FANTASTIC> SO much fun, even though I am a bit scared of heights. I did freak out on the abseil - muppet that I am peered over the edge, then threw myself to the wall so I wouldnt fall. Then I made the instructor abseil down with me. But I DID do it alone after I calmed down. And I nearly reached the top of several walls, but didnt have the reach in my arms, so I LEAPT (and missed..). Wow! I never realised how bloody minded and determined I can be.
xh saw S while I was out (grandad babysat). Apparently he (xh) just cried and held S for about 1/2 hour . I still think he is messed up, but I cant be being responsible for him and worrying about him anymore.
And to top it all, THOMAS THE F*ING TANK ENGINE is coming to our local steam museum this weekend. Unfortunately mum noticed, so they are insisting on dragging me there with S. S will love it though. All he does now is pick up the remote, point it at the telly and say 'thomas'
Anyway, sorry for wittering on, but I got a bit excited after checking my ebay, and seeing all the climbing gear I ordered should be here for the weekend!!!! YAY!!!!

wonderwomanakaeandh · 03/06/2008 19:45

happy birthday kw3k ds

2happy - pmsl at ds1, Ellie already going on about her birthday and its 3 months away yet (she has 3 parties to go to this week and next week so getting a bit premature about hers!!) She wants a barbie make up scooter (basically a scooter with secret compartment with make in) but shes not having it, my nan buying her a normal scooter and not sure what we'll get her as disneyland paris is one of her presents (and I am useless at keeping secrets and so far have managed not to tell her!)

UD - at mil, cant you accidentally lose it in the garden for a while?

Had a horrible day today and I have left a message on Health visitors phone as Ellie's tantrums are getting worse, we do a 1,2,3 warning system then she has to go upstairs to calm down however lately tantrums are going on for over 1.5hours and where she stamps her feet and kicks stuff she has ripped bioth her toenails again and got cracks in the top of her toes. Eddas has witnessed them and she cant believe how stubborn and persistant she is

wonderwomanakaeandh · 03/06/2008 19:46

Took me so long to type that I missed your post Rat - so glad to hear you are feeling more positive (am glad you have decorated teh bedroom and made it 'your') sorry to hear about 'd'h hassling you sounds as if you handled it well, mmm the perils of Thomas thankfully neither of mine like it
