Oh and food - DD has only been eating one meal a day since Sunday so i'll keep her on that for a while longer i think. I gave her some carrot at lunchtime and for her two feeds after that, she only had about 3oz of milk!! It must really fill her up, bless her.

NEW PICS ALERT!!!

lol

DS's op went well, Callum stayed with me and did well, considering he has been on holiday for 2 weeks, 1 night in his own cot and then off again for 2 nights in a strange Travel cot and a srange place Must be confusing for him. We are back home now anyway so at least we can get back into a rountine again.

Callum has learnt to roll onto his belly, and he can move himself backwards now when in his walker. He can sit for a few secs now too. will type more soon..

jetgirl · 23/05/2008 15:05

sparkly - doesn't Callum look like such a little boy now - amazing! Your DS one looks quite cheery considering he's just had surgery. Think I would be a grumpy so and so for a good few days!

rg - I couldn't quite believe it when I opened the door, I was just expecting one! DD is now obsessed with firemen

going to update my profile with some pics...

SparklyGothKat · 23/05/2008 17:10

Jet, he is such a boy! No-one ever asks me if he is a boy or girl, they just know he is a boy!

I had Callum weighed today.. my non-thriving premature baby is now a huge 14lb 11oz!!!!!!

RGPargy · 23/05/2008 20:24

Sparkly and Jet - both your pictures are absolutely lovely!!!! Sparkly, it makes me puff out with pride seeing you BF Callum, particularly because of all the hassle you had with him in the early days. It's always great to see a BF baby tho.

SparklyGothKat · 23/05/2008 22:44

OMG Today Callum rolled onto his tummy, pushed himself up on his arms and pushed off on his legs!!!!! he actually got to his toys by this method. He will be crawling soon....

sam86 · 24/05/2008 10:42

jet- i am SO jealous!! i understand why DD is obsessed! when they came to our house, there were 2 women and and an old man!! not what i was hoping for put it that way! you sound like yours mustve been a much better bunch!? your right about the books we used, they were terrible!

sparkly- aww ur pics r gorgeous!! and he definitly sounds like hes eager to move about! its so exciting at this point isnt it,just waiting for all these new "firsts"! glad everything went well at the hosp, hes very brave!!

raimee has rolled a couple of times and is really starting to stretch for things. We had been thinking of getting rid of the beloved nuisance (SP!?) of a dog but she loves him so much, she just has to look at him and she starts laughing her head off, and he is really good with her, she pulled at the fur on his tail the other day and he didnt move an inch, just tries to lick her! applying to dog borstal haha will be so funny if go on it- though im making DP go on it, not me, if we do!

rg- i just followed how raimee was doing, and its the same here- i try and give her 3 a day but sometimes shes not interested at all and sometimes she'll have a good go. we went up to 2 meals after 1 week and to 3 after another week pretty much.

greedy- sounds like something i wouldve done with the bin! was good to do something different, though i was absolutley nakerd by the end of the day-take my hat off to you! you mustve had thighs of steel after all that walking round everyday!? do you live in merseyside/ chester?

the sun is out today at least! i am so desperate to move though, starting to feel like will be stuck here forever. come on lottery!! anyway, nothing exciting happening here today, LO is still asleep so just waiting for her to wake up so i can start the baby porridge! xx

Greedygirl · 25/05/2008 09:25

Well done Hull City !!!!! (Sorry to any Bristol mummies - don't think there are any on this thread?)

Sparkly - the fun begins! Glad everything went ok at GOSH. Callum looks so grown-up! Adorable.

Sam - I live near Hull now but did live in Chester for a short while in my teens - my Dad was in the army and was based at Wrexham. Lovely part of the world. Hope you get on Dog Borstal! What kind of dog have you got?

RG - I just tend to give Adam one meal a day at the mo because he doesn't really eat it, just plays with it. I am still waiting for my booster seat to be delivered. We have borrowed a bumbo off a friend but he isn't keen on it cos his little legs are so chunky and he kind of gets wedged in!

Well we had some friends down yesterday to watch the footie and we did some food but what a faff! In future I am only going to make stuff that I have made before so I know if it works or not and that can be cooked and re-heated. By the time we had served the food, Adam was ready for his food so I was a proper mummy martyr yesterday! Thank god for Nigella's burgers tho, they went down a treat (and her Eton mess). Going to clear up and chill out today. The weather sucks because it looks nice but is windy and cold. Have a good day everyone.

littleoldme · 25/05/2008 22:36

Hello all > had a fab time. Got go dash now as it's DH's turn. Something about checking the footie scores.

sam86 · 27/05/2008 08:58

lom- hope you had a good hol?! rock is lovely thanx! lol

greedy- my mums from wrexham, she worked in the naffi (SP!?) and my dad was in the navy but hes from lancashire lol! weve got a samoyed, he is lovely and hes brilliant with raimee but hes a pain in the !!! our own fault prob, as he was the baby before roo (raimees nickname lol) came along! everyone seems to have nigellas book apart from me! is it really good? i always seem to hear about some malteser cake or something!?

hope everyone had a good bank hol? xx

Febes · 27/05/2008 11:17

Hi
Anabel is on 3 meals a day with baby cereal for brekkie, fruit for lunch and vege for tea. I'm going to buy some meat today and start giving her a potion of chicken or fish or meat for lunch each day. She loves her food now. Ive also started giving her a few finger fo ods which she mushes into her hair or flings or the walls so its still the fun stage.
She is now 14 pounds so I'm happy with her weight. She is 70cm long which is very long so she is still skinny but has good muscle tone. She has started sitting by herself now so we surround her with toys and she plays happily for ages. Still not much rolling but she does rotate herself in circles on her back or front.
Its lovely being on half term except the weather is rubbish and I had my phone stolen from the back of the pram the other day

RGPargy · 27/05/2008 21:03

Sarah - are you BLW? Sorry, cant remember lol. Glad you enjoyed Nigella's treats tho. Her recipes are so lovely!

LOM - Glad you had a good holiday!

Sam - I thoroughly recommend Nigella's book called Nigella Express. Everything in there is very simple to make and doesn't take hours to do either, which is why i particularly like it. Some amazing recipes in there. The malteser cake is in another book tho. Food for Celebration or something like that it's called. I dont have that one.

Febes - Anabel sounds like she is getting on really well.

Ellie is also nearly sitting on her own but not for very long. She rolled over properly from back to front last night! She was on the bed but we didn't use the aid of gravity this time lol. She was very proud of herself when she did it too and couldn't stop grinning! I've now started to give her breakfast as well as a late lunch. So she'll have baby rice at about 8ish (she has a boobie feed first thing in the morning when she wakes up), then a bottle at 11ish and then carrot at around 3pm. Then of course she has one or two more bottles after that before bed.

Hope everyone is well!

ChocolateHobnob · 28/05/2008 08:22

Hi all!

RG, sounds like Ellie's doing well! Are you still bf in the mornings then? That's a nice balance.

Greedy - how's the BLW going?

Hi Febes! Anabel sounds like she's coming on a treat. I have yet to introduce meat, chicken, fish etc - what form will you give her them in?

Food is going well here - ish - she loves her Weetabix but it has been trumped by strawberries and melon and Philly on toast, all of which she holds herself and mushes a lot (!), but loves. She tolerates carrot and sweet potato but is clearly keener on the other stuff...

Sam, the malteser cake's in Feast, and it's yummy. I like Nigella Express too though - there's a scrumptious pork chop recipe. Yum.

Sad news - one of my friends has postnatal psychosis and is in hospital for at least 6 weeks. Horrible.

HV came yesterday - R doing well. Trying to crawl but cant. Sits all the time, really, is now impatient lying down.

Have a good rainy day everyone!

sam86 · 28/05/2008 08:45

morning everyone!

febes- v annoying about the phone- i really hate thieves. anabel sounds like shes doing great, sounds like shes gonna be tall!!

rg + choc - i may well have to get the nigella book, sounds gorgeous!

rg - sounds like you've got the perfect balance at the moment. she sounds so cute! raimee doesnt stop rolling around at the moment and has started screaming in her cot when she rolls against the bars and her arm slips through so she is stuck there!

choc-my god, i hope your friend pulls through ok, cant imagine what shes going through.

went to trafford centre last night in hope of finding something to where if go out on fri night with mate, but there was nothing there at all! havent got a clue what will wear now. going to see sex and the city film today!! dragging dp along, cant wait!

xx

Greedygirl · 28/05/2008 08:59

hi everyone
Sorry to hear about your friend Choc, bit of a silly question maybe but will her LO be able to stay with her or is she too ill?

RG - Adam has finally got the hang of rolling over too, especially when we take his nappy off for some fresh air to his bum! It is nice that you still give Ellie a breast-feed first thing, I think I will keep up a morning feed when I go back to work (if I can).

Adam is also sitting more now with my breastfeeding cushion behind him for a soft landing. But he still likes a nice lie down! Still waiting for the blooming booster seat so we can get stuck into some of the more messy foods like weetabix but he generally has a nibble around lunchtime (he likes cucumber and bread at the mo) and something suitable from our plate at teatime because now he has got the idea of food he is very whingy when we are eating and he is not included! We are trying to teach him to drink out of a cup but although he can bring it up to his mouth he looks very disturbed when he gets a mouthful of water! I should maybe express some breast milk for him but I find it such a pain. He is still having plenty of milk feeds but they are fairly short and sweet these days and he seems to go for longer in between although he still has a mammoth 1 hour feed minimum before bedtime! My poor deflated boobs! TMI sorry .

Nigella is great but we are now also into Bill Granger, his food is lush and quite quick to prepare too and his books and programme just make me want to pack my bags and move to Australia tomorrow (he is from Sydney).

littleoldme · 28/05/2008 11:22

Choc - Sad news about your friend. Hope she's ok. Must be terrifying.

RG- Could you e-mail your address again ? I've finished watching Heroes now. It's so addictive.

Greedy - Warning re weetabix - it is the most adhesive substance in the world ! Sound like Adam is doing well

Am I going mad ??? The last two nights I've been waking up about 2.30 and cannot get back to sleep properly . It's doing my head in. Ironically T is sleeping better than ever.

Well we were s'posed to be having our floor laid yesterday. For vaious reason we had to take it all and strop until they refunded us. You'd have been proud of me. I stood in the shop and told every customer that came in they should go somewhere else as they wouldn't get a refund if any probs. Eventually they caved in but at one point I did think I might get arrested !

RGPargy · 28/05/2008 19:37

Just tried Ellie on some mango and her face was a picture!! Anyone would thought i'd just given her a lemon! Might add some banana to it to take away some "tartness". Also tried her on some Butternut squash (I'm cooking and mulshing stuff atm) and she turned her nose up at that too, but then i tasted it and it's quite grainy. Maybe i should puree it so it's smoother??

LOM - will email you my address

OP posts:
jetgirl · 28/05/2008 21:16

sam - my mum made us the malteser cake when DD was born. it's sooo yummy. I have the book now and recommend the cheesy feet biscuits! Enjoy the film, I can't wait to see it!

choc - hope your friend gets better soon.

rg - I've read that it takes between 10 and 13 times for a baby to accept a new flavour so keep perservering. Butternut became one of DD's faves quite quickly.

Well, William doesn't seem too bothered about rolling over, but he will sit quite happily for ages. He occasionally lauches himself forwards with his head on his feet, then when you say 'Sit up william' he sits back up to see whose made a noise! It's very cute especially when he grins at you when he has sat up! He's been having sweet potato for dinner the last couple of days which he seems to tolerate. Yesterday he just put his hand in the bowl and played with it while I shovelled some down him!! He had a bit of fromage frais today too, and quite likes his porridge for brekkie now. Rusks are like weetabix and have a strange cement quality to them if left for a minute to long. it's fun watching William trying to feed himslef though, and I get to eat rusks which I love!!

RGPargy · 28/05/2008 23:12

Thanx Jet. I might try and blitz it a bit more as i only did it quickly tonight because DD didn't like the noise of the blender so perhaps i didn't do it long enough.

LOL @ William launching himself at his feet. Ellie does the exact same thing. How do you cook your sweet potato? Do you add anything else to it?

N'night everyone, sleep tight!

PS - WHERE ARE YOU LOOPY?!!!!

OP posts:
Greedygirl · 29/05/2008 09:04

Hi everyone

Adam did not like banana to begin with but eats it now. It appears that he is eating more than I thought judging from the state of his nappies (yuk!). I roast sweet potatoes with a bit of olive oil for 30 mins. They go quite mushy so you could mush them up easily if you don't want to give them as chips.

Finally got our booster seat yesterday so Adam joined us at the table for tea. He was more interested in trying to gnaw on his kiddapotamus mat and the table - I could hear his little teeth scraping the wood ! Think I have a baby beaver on my hands. He had some hummous which was the first thing he has actively spat out rather than it just dribbling out. He was appalled!

I am seriously fed-up with the state of my wardrobe. I have changed shape and nothing fits anymore, have less bum and more tum. Also v.skint. I hate having to ask DH for money, not that he minds in the slightest, I am just so used to being independent. Moan over!

Greedygirl · 29/05/2008 09:04

Also where is Littlemissbliss?!

sam86 · 29/05/2008 09:43

greedy - know what you mean re wardrobe! i HATE mine at the moment and am so sick of jeans and flat boots (am i the only one who is scared of wearing heels in case i fall / slip whilst holding LO!?). also all our bills have come at once- car tax, taxi plate, raimees christening, and my car is apparently coming by the 9th of june so need insurance deposit too! all too much at once!! why oh why do they all converge?!
lol at baby beaver!!

weetabix and rusks - think its highly possible they are holding the bricks of this house together!

well done LOM on the floor situation! im rubbish at stuff like that!

satc film wasnt as good as thought it would be but still brilliant! bit strange coming out of pics into daylight!

is anyone going to do that bikini diet on gmtv? i want to do it and have signed up but cant find the shopping list/ menu's anywhere!

hope you all have a good day - sun is back! sam xx

RGPargy · 29/05/2008 09:59

Sarah - are you totally doing BLW? I do sometimes wonder if i'm doing this weaning malarky wrong. I know that Ellie enjoys her food, but she still has a tongue thrust reflex, which makes me wonder if she really is ready for food after all?? Plus she doesn't sit up by herself yet, both of which are signs that babies aren't ready for food, apparently. Ellie will quite happily open her mouth for food, but has no interest in picking it up herself while she's in her little chair. She does grab for food on our plate tho. Just so confused! I like the idea of her eating chunks of food, but not while she has no teeth! Anyway, less ramblings.

lol @ Beaver Boy!

I haven't noticed a change in my body shape too much, except for my tummy, but as i'm a size 24 at the mo anyway, i wouldn't notice a shape change if it came and bit me on my (rather large) behind! I've been doing Weight Witches for the last few weeks tho and have lost half a stone so hopefully my body will change shape for the better!

Sam - Just goes to prove what all that hype does then, eh? At least you still enjoyed it tho, which is the main thing.

There are loads of people missing from this thread aren't there? I expect they've all gone off to have real lives lol.

OP posts:
jetgirl · 29/05/2008 12:38

rg - I know what you mean, William is always trying to grab our plates, but still has a tongue thrust reflex. I was always told that they have to learn to move the food around their mouths, but maybe blw says differently? Anyway, I'm persevering with trying to get food into William, and even though he has no teeth, he seems quite happy trying to chew a rusk, and hasn't choked on it! I steam and mash the sweet potato, and mix a bit of ebm with it to make it smoother.

sam - I might just sit and watch all the series (have them all on DVD!) Took me ages before I wore heels with DD, am more carefree with William and even wear heels to work, which I never used to do!!

I am having a childfree day. The kids are at nursery and I am spring cleaning. So far have done 3 hours and am stopping for lunch and mn. It feels so good to have the kids' things out of the way, even though it won't last 5 mins beyond me bringing them back from nursery . Feel guilty for not feeling guilty about the kids being away for the day, how does that work?!

littleoldme · 29/05/2008 13:30

What ! Maltesers AND cake. All my favourite things in one tasty snack, Anyone fancy posting the recipe ?
