jetgirl - lol at your MIL not wanting to turn right! i once saw a tv programme about this woman who had the same problem, although i think hers was a massive one. she absolutely did not turn right and would go from one route to the next solely by turning left. It would sometimes take her hours longer!

Loopy - you sound like you've been run off your feet today! Good news about DD3 tho. I dont mind the sun so long as i'm not in it! i burn so easily that i just dont even bother trying to get out into it. yesterday i caught the sun from SITTING INDOORS!! Work that one out!! Spose it must have been coming through the window lol.

Hello Febes!

Hi I'm back now. Work is really busy with testing week and we don't have internet connection at home at the moment so I catch up when I can.

Anabel is well. We had our first night out without her on Friday and we partied very well. We had a friends 30th and he had a magnum of champagne which was lovely plus other drinkies and we danced until 3.30am so was very tired all weekend. Anabel didn't sleep much at my friend place but she enjoyed having her.

We have found another house to buy its really nice but needs redecorating and some modernisation so enough to keep DH busy and happy. Hopefully we will move in the next month.

I'm loving the weather as well. We have been having BBQs and DH played cricket on sunday so we sunbaked supported him. We had our first antenatal meet up picnic on friday which was devine with all the babies rolling around and staring at us eating cakes. Long may it continue.

Anabel is sleeping through again but the last 2 nights she has screamed for 2 hours. I think it might be too hot in her room. I have slept her in a vest and her sleeping bag and keep the curtains closed to keep out the afternoon sun. Its not too bad as she was asleep by 9pm both nights but for those 2 hours I lose the will to live.

Hope you are all well kisses to the lovely bubs.

Rg - I'm quite lucky with the gardening - Dh does it all and he's just bought a new petrol mower so now mows at every available opportunity.

Loopy - Sounds like you need some sort of teleportation device! Glad the ultra sound was ok.

Febes - I have to say, I'm glad I'm not working during SATS week. I find it stressful, the kids find it stressful and the whole thing is made worse by the fact it's a complete waste of time anyway .
Poor re the sleep. It has been flippin hot. T has just been going to bed in a babygro, no blanket and the window open.
Party sounds fun.

Well I've just had my work days comfirmed. I'm doing Mon Tues and Weds which I suspect means I'll be teaching A-Level again. I'll have to start winding my brain up again.

We had a very lazy weekend around the house whcih was lovely. On Sat I lay on the lawn in the sun with my book. Bliss.

Febes - sorry Anabel is screaming a bit. It really wears you down, doesn't it! I agree with Loopy about wine being a FAB remedy for fragile nerves.

LOM - lol @ the petrol mower. How very oldskool!

Loopy - Dont get me wrong, it's not that i truly dislike the weather, but more that i dislike how i feel in it, in my current physical condition, IYKWIM?! As i'm on the "large" side, i get so bloomin hot easily and it's embarrassing sitting there sweating coz you just know everyone's thinking "fat girl getting sweaty - niiiiice!" lol. Oh and plus i have a phobia of wasps which doesn't help matters!! I tend to fare better in the summer when i'm slim.

Hi all

RG, Loopy, I LOVE the sunshine! Have bought Rebecca a paddling pool (!) but now the weather is crap here, I can't blow it up. Oh and I've just fused all the lights somehow... LOM, an afternoon in the sun with a book is my idea of heaven. Pref with a cold white wine too.

Febes, sorry to hear Anabel is grumpy in the evening - teething? have you tried a hairdryer??? that helps R.

Weaning has begun, but isnt going fast - in fact she arches her back and turns away at the sight of a spoon so... we're blw here. She rejected everything except pitta bread yesterday and sucked happily on that. Food for fun until they're one sounds like a good mantra to me. Except that she is getting to be a milk monster, so I'm starting to see why people find bf tiring...

Rebecca refuses to lie down anymore (so she'll never crawl!!) and just sits all the time. She loves it and it makes my life easier: I surround her with toys and she swaps between them happily. She sits up in her highchair v well too. No sign of teeth/crawling and still rejecting cups (never has taken to bottles).

Have a good day everyone!

littleoldme · 14/05/2008 10:26

I'm knackered.T keeps pushing against the cot bars, turning himself around and banging his head on the other side. Then he cries till I go and turn him around. Thinking of getting a cot bumper but have heard they might be a good plan - advice anyone?

RGPargy · 14/05/2008 16:39

I thought cot bumpers were only a bad thing when the baby can stand on them to use them as leverage to exit the cot.....

Thanks gals. I always want to spending loads of money. The reason we have a small cot is c'os the nursery is tiny.

I think I'll buy a light weight gro bag instead of a bumper - should contain the little bugger legs.

Talking of spending cash - Loopy, do you know if they make water proof sling bag things like your sunshade?
Everytime I've been out with my Patapum a Mum with a small baby has asked me where I got it from. Big Mama Slings def owes me freebee.

RGPargy · 14/05/2008 20:42

Loopy - you saying about hats on reminds me of when DD was first born. The MW said to me "put a hat on her and some mittens too" and then she was bundled up in the moses basket with a blanket on too. Little did i know that she meant until DD warmed up so there was me and DP bundling her up in all this gear because her hands were a bit cold. it wasn't until i was speaking to my fab MW that she said i was over dressing her!! Poor little DD was probably sweating her socks off!!

I really wish the MW had actually TOLD me what i should be putting DD to sleep in. It'd been so long i was actually clueless about it, especially as DS was born in the sweltering summer of 1990 so there was no worries about him getting cold!!

OP posts:
littleoldme · 14/05/2008 20:43

Ps RG - I'm on episode 6 of Heroes already - it's so addictive , it's great. it warms up doesn't it. The story is brilliant but you can tell much of was written when the writers' strike was on. Some of the dialogue is awful!

RGPargy · 14/05/2008 20:45

LOM - so glad you are enjoying it!! Confession time - I haven't actually seen Series 2 yet!! Of all the series i've downloaded that i was going to watch when i first went on Mat Leave i've actually watched about 4 episodes of Desperate Housewives series 4 and that is it!

OP posts:
ChocolateHobnob · 14/05/2008 21:03

RG, LOL at your story -- same thing happened to me!!! I kept putting DD in a hat, cos in hospital they kept telling me to!, and then the community midwife came round and was like 'why is she wearing a hat in the house?'
Oops.

RGPargy · 14/05/2008 21:18

lol Choc!! My good MW told me that she should be wearing the equivalent as the same as us, plus one extra layer, so for example, she'd sleep in a vest, babygro and a blanket doubled over just to two layers, even when it was really cold! And NO HAT!! She did sleep better like that actually lol.

OP posts:
Greedygirl · 14/05/2008 21:19

Yes, I had loads of little hats that never got worn. Another generational thing perhaps, a hangover from when there was no central heating?

Sorry you are not enjoying the hot weather RG, DH gets bad hayfever so he doesn't like summer either. Been a bit cooler today though?

Grobag sounds like a good idea LOM, Adam was on nighttime manoeuvres the other night complete with sound effects but hasn't started banging the cot sides yet.

Chocolate - paddling pool what a great idea! Must get one.

One of my friends goes on maternity leave tomorrow - remember that feeling?! Can't believe how quickly the first six months have gone, Adam seems to do something different every day now (not big things, I am not trying to imply he is advanced in any way, he is lazy like his mum . )

Febes · 15/05/2008 09:11

Hi Anabel has gone back to her lovely ways of sleeping soundly from 6.30pm so just when you think you can't take it any more they change again.
Its so cold here today!!!!
We have a funeral tomorrow. My Grannys twin sister. I am the NZ rep as Granny and granpa are too old to travel (85 and 89). They are identical and very close despite spending 60 years on the opposite side of the world. I hope Anabel will be good during the service I think we will sit near the door so we can dash out if she squarks.

sam86 · 15/05/2008 10:26

thanx for telling me about buggys going to baggage reclaim- hadnt thought about that! we have a chico sling my sister bought for us when raimee was born so will bring that with us just in case! Where does really cheap buggys? woolworths? i am already gutted somehow got black marks on the hood of my nice buggy!!

is boiling here too, might go to chester zoo today! oo and must get a paddling pool too choc sounds good!

loopy- that seems years away for us! keep us updated on her!

its funny, i was worried having lo in winter, worried shed get sick or not be warm enough, but would be even more worried to have lo now when its so hot! suppose cant win! raimee slathered in baby suncream constantly at mo and want to go buy one of the sun shades for her - has anyone got that big black one for the buggy - looks like a raincover but black? i will be getting one for hol anyway to keep sun off her and mosquitos at bay, but feel it looks a bit much over here?!

febes hope things go well for you tomorrow, will be thinking of you,

xx

sam86 · 15/05/2008 10:33

oh and this is a page late on the baby walker thing but we got raimee a fisher price jumperoo and she loves it, jumps so hard i worry shes gonna fly up through the air!!!
should i get a walker as well do you think? we dont have much room in this house (after the highchair, jumperoo and travel cot there is prob 1cm of floorspace left in living room!!!) funny how someone so little can take up so much room isnt it?!?

I am not going to get a walker Sam cos our living room is quite small so he would only be able to take 2 steps forward and 2 steps back! Plus he already has 2 play mat type things, a bouncy chair and a play ring and a bumbo that someone has lent us. Ridiculous!

Tried Adam with some brocolli and some toast yesterday. He was deeply unimpressed with the brocolli (who knew it broke down into a million tiny pieces?! I'll be finding bits when we move out!), more enthusiastic about the toast but just chewed into a soggy mess then spat it out. The fun begins.

I am knackered at the mo, Adam has been waking at least twice in the night, then ready to get up at 5! It makes it a looooong day. I went to bed at 9.30 last night so hopefully I have caught up a bit.

Anyone else addicted to The Apprentice? When I first watched it I thought it was a load of nonsense but I even watch the programme afterwards now and think I may have a crush on Adrian Chiles (not sure if that is his name)!! Must get out more.

Going to see Grandma today and hoping that Adam won't scream blue murder when he sees her! Have a good day everyone.

Greedygirl · 16/05/2008 08:18

Sorry Febes about the funeral. I took Adam to his great-grandad's funeral and I was worried about it but it was fine and everyone was glad to see him (and he loved the stained glass windows!). I hope it goes ok.

littleoldme · 16/05/2008 15:21

Febes - Really sad news.

Loopy - Thanks for the links. The wilki net one looks good but. Saying that though , we do have a water proof suit for him so we'll probably use that instead.

We're off on hols tomorrow so I'll catch up again next week X
