everyone off on hols making me v jealous!! have a great time little!!!

greedy - i really dont know how such a small person can have so many things!! even raimees wardrobe is bigger than mine! but adrian chiles!?!?!? he is funny though maybe that is it, a bit of humour seems to go do alot for men doesnt it?! i used to love father dougal in father ted! love the apprentice though!

need some advice- raimee has started doing a fake cough! has anyone else had this? she does it every now and then, it sounds like a fake cough- its not the same as her real cough- i dont know if shes just doing it to test her vocals or if i should be worried and take her docs?? everything else is fine tho maybe teething a bit more as started being bit more cranky sometimes (though still no actual teeth!)

and GOOD NEWS!!! i finally passd driving test today!! so happy! just waiting on new car now!(june-so far away!)

sam86 · 16/05/2008 20:48

loopy - ooo a new baby!! wonder if he/she (?) will be born tonight!?? xx

littleoldme · 16/05/2008 21:15

Great news Aunty Loopy.

Sam - T has something similar. The Pharmacist said it happens when they are teething. The extra dribble runs down their throat. The cough is to get it back up again c'os they don't always know to swallow. T is bugger for it at night. If you are worried though ring the Doc.

Well done on your driving test. It's fab when you pass isn't it

jetgirl · 16/05/2008 22:46

greedygirl - thank goodness I'm not the only one who likes Adrian Chiles!! Have to get my One show fix - programme dreadful but love Adrian. Then I am married to a midlander - must be the accent!

sam86 - congrats on passing your driving test. i still can't drive - gave up lessons in september and just don't have the ,money to have any more. Not that DH will let me near his new car when it arrives in July anyway

Loopy - exciting times for you!

Febes - so sorry to hear your news. Hope today was okay.

LOM - have a great holiday.

Work's been okay this week. I was stabbed by a girl with biro today - she didn't mean to, at least I don't think she did, and it was just my hand. She took a real dislike to the Maths work I was doing with her! I had 12 kids in detention yesterday for not working properly in lesson. Top set kids who disputed the detention because they never get them, but they did it nonetheless. And my Year 11's had their first 2 Latin exams, just 2 more to go next week. they felt pretty happy with the papers and I'm sure they were fab.

have a lovely weekend all

ChocolateHobnob · 17/05/2008 09:35

Congrats Sam!

Are you a Latin teacher, Jet?

Loopy-are you now an auntie? - tell all!!!

Well we're well into blw now... I say well in: it is very slow, so be warned. In fact the only stuff she's liked has been Weetabix, which she has self-fed with a spoon, very very messily, and strips of pitta, sometimes with sweet potato on. She doesnt seem that hungry. Oh well.

Her sleep is a NIGHTMARE. This is the pattern of the last three nights:

7.30 go to sleep
8.15 wake up and cry until soothed, goes back to sleep
9.15 repeat of 8.15 [this has always happened, so nothing new so far]
10.15 see 8.15 and 9.15
11.15 wake up, scream, refuse to go back to sleep, DH takes her downstairs and cuddles her for a while till she goes back to sleep; brings her back to bed at 12.15
1.15 wake up, cry, I feed her as she seems hungry, she goes back to sleep
2.15 wake up, cry until soothed, back to sleep
3.15 wake up scream, refuse to go back to sleep, cry on and off till 4.30, when becomes hungry, I feed her, she goes back to sleep about 5.15
6.00 wants to get up and attention

The waking up frequently always happened but the not going back to sleep thing is really shattering... I think it might be teething but meds arent helping...

OK, rant over. Hope you all have a good day!

sam86 · 17/05/2008 09:57

thanx everyone! was actually second attempt and was so dreading being told failed again ! (first attempt did the worst left reverse EVER known to man, almost ended up in someones driveway!) thankfully managed to concur left reverse since then so felt more confident this time and was fine!

jet- know what you mean about lessons- so expensive now! i was thinking throughout it that i was not going to spend another £100 to fail! i gave up about 2 years ago and started again a few weeks ago but it all comes back! lol at biro stabbing - i hate maths too but that is quite extreme reaction!! do you use those books in latin with "Sextus" in them?! cant remember much from our lessons but that characters name always stuck with me (and how to sing "o come all ye faithful" in latin! not a v good party piece though!)

choc- you must be shattered! hopefully it will pass soon, there is nothing quite like sleeplessness for making you fee bad is there. your blw sounds like its going well tho- weaning not going very far here, has a couple of spoons but isnt very interested as yet!

LOM- thanx for that, i think it may well be same as your LO as she has been being more cranky so think teeth are starting to annoy her now though they seem to be taking their time!- it doesnt sound like her real cough, theres never anything in her mouth/hand at time anyway and she doesnt seem in pain or anything but we were worried it wasnt normal so good to hear someone else has same thing!

in the bath last night raimee has taken to doing the riverdance and keeps kicking then crossing her legs at the ankles every few kicks!! really funny to watch! maybe the new micheal flattely (SP?!)?!

oh and where has the sun gone?!? i actually have my heating on !! am v dissappointed! best be back next week planning on taking raimee to chester zoo on wed!

sam86 · 17/05/2008 09:58

i meant conquer not concur lol

RGPargy · 18/05/2008 11:26

Hi everyone! How are we all today?!!

Had a fairly boring week as usual in Chateau RG so nothing major to report. The biggest thing right now is trying to find BPA-free bottles after the recent scare on the news lol. Dont know if it's all a load of tosh or not, but i'm not really prepared to take the chance. I've bought a pack of Mam Ultivent bottles but ladies, if you are thinking of getting them, dont bother! They leak EVERYWHERE, especially when they are warmed up etc. They have the "ingenious" thing of having a screw off bottom with a vent thing so reduce colic but all it does is cover everything/one in milk. i've ordered a couple of ordinary bottles from their website instead.

LOM - enjoy your holiday!

Sam - Congrats on passing your driving test!!!

The cough thing - Ellie has had this sort of fake cough thing since she was born really! It's never concerned me really and if she does it now, i cough back at her which makes her giggle and then she does it back to me etc, so sweet!

Choc - hope you got some decent sleep last night - her sleeping pattern sounds like a nightmare, you poor thing!

Jet - hope you've got over your biro-stabbing incident! ()

Loopy - oooooo good luck to your sis!!! Has the bundle arrived yet?? I'm getting soooo broody again! Shocking really isn't it as i still have a small baby and there i am loving the fresh babies again!! hehehe

Febes - sorry to hear about the funeral. hope it went ok.

Sarah - Are you doing BLW or a bit of puree too? I am going to give Ellie a bit of carrot and swede mash today to see how she likes it. I did give her some carrot mash a few weeks ago but then felt incredibly guilty about giving her food so young so she hasn't had any since. think i'll try and do a bit of both BLW and puree with her, IYKWIM.

Better go, Ellis is fussing and needs a sleep. Have a good day everyone.

Greedygirl · 18/05/2008 17:43

Congrats on passing the test Sam! Being able to go where you want, when you want is a fab feeling.

RG - what a PITA re the bottles. Hope the new ones are better. Ellie wasn't that young was she? Think we all give ourselves too much of a hard time - they used to wean babies at 10 weeks at one time ! Thought I was going to do a mixture of BLW and puree but he seem to prefer being handed things in his hand rather than on a spoon. In particular he likes to chew on a bit of bread. He also had fun with some pasta the other night but he isn't actually swallowing anything yet (although I did find some brocolli in his nappy but think he swallowed some tiny pieces by accident!) but he seems to be getting the general idea and tried to swipe my prawn sandwich off me today . DH just tried him with some apple puree and it was a no go so might give him some hand size chunks next time. Will just keep trying both and see what happens. Did Ellie like the carrot mash?

Went to a bbq yesterday but it was f-f-f-freezing - good old British summer! Nothing else exciting to report. Have a good evening.

P.s. Jet and Sam - glad it is not just me with Ade!

RGPargy · 18/05/2008 20:48

Sarah - yeah she was that young!! You're right about weaning them young years ago. I was weaning DS at 3 months old 17 years ago!! Ellie seemed to enjoy the mash, but only towards the end when she got the hang of actually eating rather than spitting it out again. I do feel really really bad tho because i overheated it in the microwave and thought it had all cooled down enough but i gave her two spoonfuls and wondered why they made her catch her breath and spit them straight back out again. Then i stuck my tongue right into the next spoonful only to discover that it was actually a bit hot!! Poor little thing. Didn't put her off tho and she wolfed down the rest. I do get the feeling tho that she wants to feed herself so come pay day we are going to buy a high chair and stick her in it with some dry toast, brocolli, etc. Does Adam have teeth yet? Ellie has none so it makes me a bit dubious about giving her stuff that she might need teeth for, like banana or something.

Febes · 19/05/2008 08:59

Hi everyone. Good to see the sun shining again.
Anabel is eating well now after a few weeks of spitting food out as fast as we spooned it in. I'm going to start finger foods as she loves to be in charge and shoves anything in her mouth. She managed to sit up by herself for 30 seconds yesterday but still not really rolling. She has done it but isn't bothered to do it again. She does move herself around by digging her feet into the floor and shunting herself up or around.
I'm getting her weighed again on friday so hopefully she has put on some weight although as she is very happy and looks healthy and sleeps well I'm not bothered if she is on the low percentile still. Her father is 63kgs and has never put on a bit of weight in the 6 years we have been together so I think she could have his genes. Lucky girl as mine are some what more weighty.
She is 6 months old on thursday I can't believe it!!! Time has just flown by.

Greedygirl · 19/05/2008 12:48

Not shining here Febes !

Adam does have 2 bottom teeth RG so is managing to give everything a nasty suck/gnaw but no swallowing as yet really. Gave him some mashed advocado on pitta bread today which he seemed to enjoy but it will be much easier when we finally get a high chair (currently sit him on my lap.) Actually we have decided to get a booster seat as our living room/dining room is so small.

And that is as exciting as it gets in dull Hull today!

RGPargy · 19/05/2008 13:19

Febes - Ellie is the same re rolling. i haven't seen her do it once but DP reckons she has, although she was on the bed at the time laying next to him. Cue Ellie rolling over on a slope, thanx to gravity lol. She's nearly there tho. She'll reach for things and be on her side but she doesn't really show an interest in going the whole hog and rolling completely over. She too is also starting to sit unaided for a short time. It's lovely to see isn't it!

Sarah - i deffo want to give Ellie some finger foods but i will wait until we have a high chair before attempting it. I dont want to get covered!! she is quite good at holding herself in a sitting position now too so i reckon she'll be ok in a high chair.

Nothing going on in Sunny Kent either! I really must sweep my floors tho. they are minging!!

OP posts:
Greedygirl · 19/05/2008 22:04

LOL re gravity rolls RG! So tempting to give them a quick push - LOOK what they just did, clever baby!!

RGPargy · 19/05/2008 22:22

Sarah - As you're in Hull, did you see that programme tonight with Sarah Ferguson on it and that family who were from Hull?

OP posts:
SparklyGothKat · 19/05/2008 22:56

Hi all, I am back!! Did you miss me?? I won;t be about for long as Ds1 is having his op. tomorrow and I will be at GOSH with him till the weekend.
We had a lovely holiday, except that Callum has started sleeping really really badly!! ATM he is screaming in his cot, because he has got used to co-sleeping He hated the travel cot provided on holiday and now we have problems getting him to sleep.. God knows how I am going to cope with him at the hospital.
Callum had a good holiday and loved all the attention from the spanish people, who loved him
Anyway better go and see if I can get him to settle..... AGAIN!!!

Greedygirl · 20/05/2008 06:11

RG - bugger I missed it - was it good?

Sparkly - hello! Glad you had a good holiday. Good luck at GOSH.

RGPargy · 20/05/2008 15:03

hi Sparkly! Good luck at GOSH.

Sarah - yeah it was quite good actually. She was there as someone trying to help this family lose weight and have a healthier lifestyle as they lived on crap and junk food all the time, despite health problems with teh parents. I think there were 4 or 5 kids and their ages were 7, 13, 15, 17 and 21. With the exception of the 7 year old, they ALL smoked in the house Anyway, i quite like ol' Fergie and it was nice to see her on TV again. She's a really lovely lady, despite all the bad press she had when she was married to Prince Andrew! I'm sure it'll be repeated again on ITV 2 and 3 at some point. It was called the Duchess in Hull i think. The second part is on tonight at 9pm.

Nothing to report in Chateau RG again. The most exciting thing that's happened today is a delivery of two new bottles from MAM and also that DD had some babyrice for breakfast! Wow, isn't my life exciting!!

Have a good afternoon everyone!

OP posts:
sam86 · 21/05/2008 08:53

rg- im going to cough back at her now and see what she does! weve been tickling her for it which she laughs her head off at! we watched the duchess in hull prog, was good wasnt it though all that mash and tomato sauce made me feel sick!!! lol. has given me the impetus to actually start doing something though, so doing a healthy shop today! we bought a wii fit and for the first few days were on it every day, now it is just gathering dust so will be starting that again!! end up having hula hoop wars though!!

febes- it is mad isnt it how they go from being newborn to 6month so fast!! cant believe it! IKWYM rg bout getting broody again!!

raimee has started being a little greedy girl last few days- ate all the puree's ive been giving her, and had baby porridge yday which she loved, shes now having 3 meals a day- gave her rusk yday and as i was trying to crumble it into the bowl she was trying to grab the whole rusk off me so i gave her that to suck on and she loved it - cried when i pulled it away for a second! might try her with more things she can hold today- any good suggestions for first timer with no teeth?)?!had been too scared of her choking to try blw but she had good go on the rusk so may try.

oh and she rolled yday for first time!! just the once though! (and no help from gravity or me pushing her lol!!)

sparkly - glad to hear you had a good hol- did you take all your baby stuff with you or get it delivered there? i dont know what to do still! hope callum gets back to sleeping well!

went to chester zoo on mon, not that raimee paid much attention- though she did stare at the buffalos! a little boy did a monkey impression and she screamed the zoo down lol! went to a chinese buffet for lunch yday after swimming and they played that horrible happy bday song and that scared her too, she is so nosy as well though, sat there staring at people eating!

hope you all have a nice day today! wish was still in bed x

Greedygirl · 21/05/2008 13:37

My first job was at Chester Zoo (litter patrol since you ask, £1.90 an hour ). I once picked up a smoldering cigarette and set my bin on fire but, being such a shy teenager, didn't dare tell anyone and had to put it out with the dregs of people's abandonded drinks! Bet it was nice Sam, I am getting sick of the same walks around my area.

I will watch out for the Duchess of Hull on ITV2, sounds good.

Still waiting for my highchair to be delivered but Adam has tried some yoghurt and apple puree (liked), mango (preferred the bowl) and I have just roasted some sweet potatoes. Never tried them myself before and they are soooo yummy. He might get some later, if there are any left lol.

Took DS into work yesterday and he was a dream, smiling at everyone and generally being a complete cutie-pie. Don't they make you proud when they play ball?!

RGPargy · 22/05/2008 08:28

morning everyone

when you start them on more than 1 meal a day? At the moment i either give Ellie baby rice for breakfast or some mashed carrot for lunch so we're still just on one a day.

Sarah - lol @ your Chester Zoo high flying job! Your pay was really poor! No wonder you set your bins on fire!! haha

OP posts:
ChocolateHobnob · 22/05/2008 08:38

Sarah! what slave labour!

I dont know, RG, when you do three meals a day. I'm more or less offering three a day but to be honest she hardly eats anything sometimes and sometimes eats nothing. She loves weetabix for breakfast, but sometimes has basically very little else for the rest of the day...

jetgirl · 22/05/2008 17:32

rg - I've just been increasing William's 'meals' to 2 a day, though as he only started solids a week ago they're hardly substantial. Usually porridge for breakfast or baby rice at lunch time and some carrot for tea, though he tried apple today and that was successful. I just go for it when he is in a very chilled out mood and not starving.

choc - yes I am a Latin teacher. We're an unusual breed!

sam - I use a book called Minimus with the younger ones and the Cambridge course with the older ones. Not a fan of the books you used, not v. exciting IMO. Minimus is brilliant - even my dd loves them!

sparkly - hope the op went well. Glad you had a good holiday.

I had a home safety visit from 3 firemen yesterday. They were lovely and DD who can be shy around strangers certainly wasn't with them! She's a terrible flirt

RGPargy · 22/05/2008 20:36

THREE firemen?!!!!!! I hope they were worth DD's flirtation!!
