March 2007: Babies no longer: the road to Toddlerdom

1000 replies

MrLSG · 01/05/2008 22:50

MrsLSG suggested it, so her it is...

I've observed that calling Toby a baby isn't really accurate anymore, he (as one of the younger March babies - actually being born in April) is now toddlering (or is that staggering?), hence the title of the thread.

Sorry if Dad's aren't allowed around here: But Toby just loved joining in garden football with his big brother and dad earlier tonight.

thanks ladies, i am really hopeful that this may develope into something nice...

SuperSillyus · 26/09/2008 07:33

Bethoo, It'll be tricky balancing a newborn and new romance simultaneously though. But it will certainly be a good test of this guy if he is big enough and patient enough to stick with you. Even the possibility of a nice relationship is a hopefull and positive thing.

Hasan is now well settled into the routine of going to sleep at 7ish at the same time as the other two. So I'm getting a little peace in the evening though he wakes usually 3/4 times but settles back and is up at 6. when he starts sleeping through I'll be in heaven!

bethoo · 26/09/2008 09:43

yes i have thought of that but i am lucky in that he is family orientated and loves kids. so i think he will actually be a good help and very supportive. but only time will tell. i admit it will be difficult esp with newborn but if he walks away then he is doing me a favour in a way.

catweazle · 28/09/2008 12:51

Where is everybody? All gone quiet again on this thread.

We went to Duinrell last weekend (our Sun holiday ) and had a good time despite Le Shuttle retiming thanks to the fire, and DH getting the D&V bug on the first full day there.

Then took DS2's stuff up to uni for him and had a couple of nights out in Wales as it was our 25th Wedding Anniv

DD on major feedathon for some reason. Like having a newborn again.

SuperSillyus · 28/09/2008 20:40

wow 25 years! well done catweazle!
Yes I have a feedathon monster here too.

He pulled my cup of tea on himself today luckily it wasn't boiling and I was right there and able to immediately hold his top away from him so no damage was done but it gave me such a fright...it's the stereotypical accident, I shouldn't have my tea within his reach!

kiwibella · 28/09/2008 21:55

congrats Catsweazle... that's lovely news Glad that you managed to get away for a holiday... shame it had some unexpected events! Hope your dh is ok now.

Silly... it must have given you such a fright as you saw the tea spill. Lucky everything is ok.

SuperSillyus · 29/09/2008 07:20

Happy birthday Kitty yum yum yum

kittywise · 29/09/2008 11:42

Bless you supersilly!!!!

Sorry, not been posting much

My lovely dad got me 2 beatles albums i wanted, lovely dp got me a base station thing for my ipod. I have downloaded the albums and am happily cleaning the kitchen listening to fab albums!
Small things eh

Only one of my kids remembered. The others are gits

catweazle · 29/09/2008 20:15

Happy birthday kitty! (Lovely DP- are you feeling OK? )

Silly- bet that was a heart-stopping moment. Glad he's OK. They are just so nosey now, aren't they.

kittywise · 29/09/2008 21:05

I know!!! He's been ok recently, or should I say we have. Still no sex though

SuperSillyus · 30/09/2008 09:35

Kitty your birthday pressies sound lovely. glad things are going well...I recently sent you a confused message on facebook about just that it would be great if things worked out...maybe the physical side will follow and much less hassle than having to look for someone new . fingers crossed for you!

I was so annoyed with dh at the weekend. I really need to see him more and I wish, wish, wish he would share the parenting with me

Hasan was torturing me from 4am until 5am this morning. He has a cold so it might be that. Dd is off today. She was burning up last night and very wheezy which isn't like her.

kiwibella · 30/09/2008 14:07

happy happy birthday Kitty!! Hope Rosey's little one left you some cake to enjoy . Glad that things with your dp are better... keep grooving with your cds .

SuperSillyus · 01/10/2008 07:10

I am really struggling with the breastfeeding.
I don't know what to do. I have an idea about night weaning from Jay Gordon but when I gently started it I was too exhausted to continue.
If I knew for certain that after 2 or 3 nights he would settle down and sleep without boob I would find the strength from somewhere to do it.
I just don't know if it will help but I'm so tired I'm starting to feel desperate and incapable of functioning any more...breaking down and rejecting him cold turkey style
He's nagging me now for breast and I am going to let him feed while seething with resentment...not good really.

kittywise · 01/10/2008 07:27

SS, big hugs to you.

I couldn't cope with feeding during the night. You must be so, so tired. Ronnie wakes sometimes in the evenings about 10.30 and i feed him.
He is still wanting to feed whenever I sit down. If I hold him say in the school playground he tries to feed

I might have asked this before but why not just offer a bottle now whenever he wants boob? I honestly think it won't take more than a week, probably a lot less.

SuperSillyus · 01/10/2008 07:54

Thanks Kitty. He doesn't know what to do with a bottle...he just chews it and then turns it upside down and squirts/shakes the milk everywhere in glee
He is not interested in any other milk at the moment so I can't just replace his breastfeeds with other milk, though I know he can get his calcium from elsewhere if neccessary.
Maybe I should just wean him fully ...I don't know. If it was a bit less I would happily persevere but he seems to be getting more boob mad and I want him to be less interested and there's no sign of that happening so far!
But if I do wean him he'll be completely rejected and heartbroken I think...argh-I'm stuck!

kittywise · 01/10/2008 12:04

It's very tricky, but s least he is a big healthy chap.

I don't think he would feel rejected, no. You are there to give him lots of love and cuddles, that is what matters.

Ronnie doesn't eat. Having said that he loved a curry the other day!! But honestly he would have nothing but milk. he's so skinny though, i'd like him to beef up a bit

SuperSillyus · 01/10/2008 12:47

Kitty I'm sure Ronnie is perfectly healthy though. My ds2 is so small and skinny but he eats one tonne of food everyday, I don't know where he puts it.

I already feel much better about everything after a restfull morning and nice walk.

So I feel able to persevere a bit longer and I'd like to be all calm about it and choose a good time and be positive about the weaning thing.

so when I stop it hopefully won't be because I'm desperate and can't bear to feed for one more minute, but will be a positive step towards more independance for Hasan (kind-of-thing)

kittywise · 01/10/2008 18:22

SS, I cooked curry again tonight just so he would eat something he scoffed the whole plate, hasn't wanted anything much for days.
Dp would happily eat curry for every meal and infact does so (from asda) when 'm away with the kids. He reckons it's in Ronnie's blood.
I dunno about in his blood but it's all down his dungarees

kiwibella · 02/10/2008 21:08

take a look here Silly

lol at Ronnie putting his curry down his trou!!!!!!!

Where is everyone?????????????????? I'm missing all your baby news.

SuperSillyus · 03/10/2008 06:26

Went to bed at 9pm last night which is just aswell because I was up a bit. Hasan is being a monkey he would happily suck from 4-6am of a morning and I am not impressed with that schedule! He is tired and miserable and I wish he would just sleep and stop faffing about! I've tried getting up and offering him breakfast but he's not interested. sigh

He is very possessive of me. If ds2 is on my knee, Hasan tries to pull him off my knee and always climbs up too. (jealous )

I was worried about ds2 last night. He was extremely weezey and his breathing was terrible. I managed to give him some medicine and then his inhaler but it's difficult, he hates them both but desperately needed them last night and he did get a little better.

He has a terrible cough

Hasan had curry yesterday he loves it too. Definately in his blood!

bethoo · 03/10/2008 09:58

hi ladies ,jsut to let you know there is still no birth announcement . getting impatient! limping as sure i have trapped a nerve in my back! baby due on monday so if not delivered by then at 40 weeks app mw may do a stretch and sweep!

new dp is great and wants to be at the birth but i said he can wait in the waiting room! dont want to put him off sex!

i have pics of him on facebook when he took me to a petting type family farm with ds.

SuperSillyus · 03/10/2008 10:09

Oh Bethoo I wondered who he was! He is very handsome and looks cosy with your ds!
Try a bit of clarysage oil in the bath, it brought on loads of strong braxton hicks contractions for me. It would limber you up and might even start you

TheBlonde · 03/10/2008 10:26

bethoo - just saw your pics, he looks nice and your DS is gorgeous

bethoo · 03/10/2008 15:13

yes i guess i was quite lucky, landing on my feet with a dish like that. hard to believe he is 40 in november!

bethoo · 03/10/2008 15:15
