March 2007: Babies no longer: the road to Toddlerdom

1000 replies

MrLSG · 01/05/2008 22:50

MrsLSG suggested it, so her it is...

I've observed that calling Toby a baby isn't really accurate anymore, he (as one of the younger March babies - actually being born in April) is now toddlering (or is that staggering?), hence the title of the thread.

Sorry if Dad's aren't allowed around here: But Toby just loved joining in garden football with his big brother and dad earlier tonight.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Piffle · 09/07/2008 20:53

Diva I got sent that from scootergrrl on the teething hell thread! Effing magic stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No news here whatsoever < she whistles untruthfully resuming ostrich mode>
Finn scrummy and yummy now copying me when
I say Oh.... He is amazing!
agree change the name, I know stunning redheads stand up and be proud!
rosy dd outgrew her egg allergy we kept her off eggs til age 4.

bethoo · 09/07/2008 21:16

thanks guys, feeling sorry for myself as bloody shattered no matter how much sleep i get and usually Hayden has a nap when we get home from picking him up from cm but it was as though he had drank a cup of coffee, can of coke and eaten a 200g bar of chocolate so i was semi dozing whilst he hurled books at me, he likes turnign the pages bless him the little book worm.
got drenched today so was taken home to change as boots need resoling so i was squelching around.
tummy feels really tight like it is literally going to split open, not the most comfortable of feelings!

Rosylily · 10/07/2008 04:50

Am up with Hasan since 3.30am, gave him piriton again -he was sick everywhere but the hives are finally going down.

Bethoo maybe you are having braxton hicks? You are bound to be tired but how is your iron level?

Anyhow Freckly it is a bit funny I'm bored of my name too, feel like changing...

Piffle that is great that your dd outgrew the egg allergy. I wish my guys would outgrow their allergies. ds2 has egg allergy and sesame seeds. But dd has the severe peanut allergy. I am now realising that I've been eating muesli and so maybe Hasan is allergic to my milk I'm going to have to get him referred to the allergy clinic and I'll probably get in trouble for eating nuts myself...shit...

bethoo · 10/07/2008 09:24

Rosy - oh dear a nut allergy is frightneing, it may pass as he gets older. has he been allergy tested?
i dont know if it is bh as i think it is jsut too much eating!
i get my iron stores tested next week and am certain that just like last time it is low so you are right in that i probably have aneamia. i am jsut so drained all the time and have no energy to cook or clean which menas Haydne lives off sandwiches!

SuperSillyus · 10/07/2008 09:37

Twirls in newname.....

Bethoo I think my iron is low too I'm as flat as a pancake. I bet that's what it is with you. you'll probably be feeling much better once you get some supplements down you. I'm too tired to go get any it makes your brain sluggish too, it's a horrible thing...I'm constantly tortured by it.

That's why I was eating nutty muesli... trying to get my diet working better for me....sigh.

SuperSillyus · 10/07/2008 09:41

oops [sluggish brain] Hasan hasn't been tested yet, I was really hoping he would be allergy free...

sandwiches aren't too bad Bethoo. My kids are living on pasta.

sleeplessnightsRus · 10/07/2008 13:41

OK do you like my new one?

Clue - M-Chubs is my son

kittywise · 10/07/2008 15:58

Thing is I'll alwys call you by your old names!

sleeplessnightsRus · 10/07/2008 20:22

Eventually I'll settle on one I like

headingforthenuthouse · 10/07/2008 21:13

yes and then end up going back to your original

4 of my dc need to re-learn what bedtime means, and dh needs to learn to put up with a whingy 2.7 year old rather than letting her sleep when im not in,cos when i go totally insane he will have to do it all by himself rather than just a couple of hours a week

Piffle · 10/07/2008 21:29

ready for the nuthouse myself. Finn beyond himself with illness, can't suck his thumb so screams... All day.
but at least my period turned up 7 days late and after 4+ pregnancy tests so unsure what to make of that..
Sorry to hear so many of us are going up so quietly bonkers...
also have had ds1 off school since last Friday with dreadful sinusitis, he is improving.
dp is complaining ( in that unique and not at all endearing way) that his throathurts a bit...
sod you matey I was up from 3:45am this morning with our son and I'm knackered!!!!!!!

SuperSillyus · 10/07/2008 21:40

what thread am I on (lost...)

Well Hasan has been referred to the hospital now after dr today. His hives have been coming up all day but are flattening out now.

Now my weekend is becoming shite. My friend (who I love) wants me to go to her house for a party with the children. But dh wants me to go to him and spend the weekend with HIS friend (who makes my skin crawl) and family. If I just do my own thing dh is going to be really hurt, but I hate doing anything that I don't want to do

The children will love to go to my friends party but also they haven't seen their dad for a couple of weeks and my marriage is terrible. Why can't he just do what I want to do! (fume)

SuperSillyus · 10/07/2008 21:44

Oh Piffle a positive is a positive surely. I wouldn't trust that period 100% But you poor thing you must be all in turmoil with that shenanigans!
Hope you get a better night tonight.

divastrop · 10/07/2008 21:50

'my marriage is terrible. Why can't he just do what I want to do'

ha!exactly.if he did what you wanted to do then your marriage would be fine.men are sooooo stupid sometimes.

piffle-hope finn is better soon,and your ds1.

im sick of going quietly bonkers.i want to scream and shout and rant and say how bloddy unfair things are but dh would just walk out and tell me to go f**k myself so i keep trying to be positive and remind myself that it could be worse....

divastrop · 10/07/2008 21:51

piffle-i mis-read your post wrt pregnancy tests,i read it as 4 plus

is it a proper period or just spotting?

Piffle · 10/07/2008 22:33

proper period, no pmt or usual pmt symptoms like spots gloating etc
failed implantation my obgyn reckons
sort of thankfeckforthat but sort of oh ok oh dear shame...

sleeplessnightsRus · 10/07/2008 23:06

Who are U - Heading for the nuthouse???

Clues pleeeze!!!

Diva, Silly, Kitty, Piffle, Kiwi, Callie, Even et al - Oh how I wish we could all meet up tomorrow for a big P*ss-up - what fun we would have!!!!!

I have made a complaint about DS1's form teacher.

Here is why:

He suffers from stage fright.

In her end of term report, she said verbally: "DS1 has to realise that if he does not speak during assembly, the Head Teacher will PUNISH him"

eh?

Apparently she shouted the "F" word to class and banged her hand so hard on a desk she injured it....

I am very concerned about her attitude and anger management problems.

It explains why DS1 has lost all interest in school this year....

Apparently many parents in DS1's class are complaining ....

sleeplessnightsRus · 10/07/2008 23:08

Are Hasan and Finn OK???

Piff - sounds like a failed implant to me - yourbody thought it was PG but now isn't!

How do you feel now? R U relieved?

I think if I got PG now I would leave home....

kittywise · 11/07/2008 07:44

Foxy, that's awful, do complain. Ds2 has had a shit maternity cover teacher this year. It has really done him in and we've complained all the time, luckily it's her last day today.

I was going to talk about what happened to ds1 at cub camp but I find it too upsetting so let's just say that he was physically and verbally bullied and we are dealing with it.

Piffle this the second time this has happened now isn't it?
Do you think that you actually DO want another baby? Perhaps it would be easier for you if you made a decision either way?

I've just come to realise that (d)p spends all his time fiddling with his iphone whenever we're without kids What;s the point in coming and sitting next to me and then spending all his time either texting/surfing web or listening to songs.

He's really pleased that he will have to stay at home looking after the kids next saturday when we've been invited to a party of friend's of mine. However, he moved heaven and earth to go out drinking with his work partners last week because they were taking out a new member of staff who just happened to be a 'dolly bird' as he describes her, oh and along with other dolly birds from the office. He then procedes to tell me that one of them looks "like her" as he points at a picture in an ad.
"what, she looks like kelly brook'? I say

"oh is that Kelly Brook?" he replies all innocently

Well at least if I go to the party on my own some male might show an interest.
But in order to make things extra jolly for me (d) p says" this is your first middle aged party isn't it"?
"No" I say " The parties with you friends are far more middle aged than this"

WANKER

SuperSillyus · 11/07/2008 08:26

Sleepless- You are definately right to complain. It is awful when a teacher isn't good. When ds1 was at primary he had a horrible bully of a teacher and he had anxiety stomach aches going to school in the morning. and so I hated that woman for upsetting my cherub!
Since then I am so gratefull to all the teachers that are lovely. I know it can be a really difficult job but our children are hugely influenced by their teachers.
I would love to be meeting you all for a piss up, one day.......

Kitty I hope your ds1 gets over the bullying with your help. My dh also zones out when he is with me. And when he isn't with me I just don't hear from him...I have to ring him. But it sounds like your dp was trying to make you jealous so maybe he does want your attention?

Diva you need to be singing! You need an outlet for all that passion and energy and craziness that is driving you mad. Is there a singing group you could join?

Hasan's eyes are swollen up and puffy and he had a high temperature in the night. It really was a bad and prolonged allergic reaction that he has had. Hopefully I'll find the cause in due course...

kittywise · 11/07/2008 09:34

Rosy, poor Hasan That really is a very bad reaction. It must make you very anxious not knowing the exact trigger. Fingers crossed you find out very soon.

divastrop · 11/07/2008 11:57

foxy-i was headedforthenuthouse!still am in theory.your ds's teacher sounds like something out of my mums convent school.i hope she gets diciplined for behaving like that.

kitty-i hope your ds is ok.@at you dp's pathetic attempt to make you jealous and make you feel bad about going out.it sounds like the sort of crap my xp used to come out with.

dh is lovely really,he is just lazy.he has changed to a diferent server again on WoW,he is such a flouncer.

rosy-does your ds1 still play WoW ?

SuperSillyus · 11/07/2008 17:10

Diva yes he is still totally into it he's with laughing skull server. (nice name)

Today I came out with a big rash all over my legs and together with the really sore throat I've had and fatigue the dr said it could be glandular fever. If it is it would explain a few things. All my glands were swollen and sore a couple of weeks ago. I don't know...I just never seem to be well.
I'm still in my pyjamas

Kids have gone ferral....

Callieco · 11/07/2008 20:31

TheBlonde - Jordi's not walking. The consultant has agreed with me that his lack of stability over sitting up is a concern (er... yes, I've been saying that for the past six months) so she's referred him to the paediatric physio as a matter of urgency. However, my HV had already referred him as I think Ive said, so I got that appointment yesterday and saw a different physio, and they've given me some exercises to do. I'm so relieved he's finally in the system.

Piff, I didn't realise you meant four positive tests either! That's strange isn't it? Hope you feel ok about it.

Like all the name changes but I'm still going to call you by the old names too! Sorry.

Bethoo, sounds like it could be iron esp if you were low last time. Despite two months of taking iron tablets my iron levels have remained exactly the same, so I've had to increase the dose by 50%. I'm still tired but not like I was. Had a busy day today. Took DS swimming this morning, then after lateish lunch went down the bay here where there is a food and drink festival with lots of free samples... yum. I was with some of my coffee group friends, then DP came down later on and we had tea down there. I did have a few sneaky samples of liqueur and wine and lots of cheeses. DS has gone to sleep quite easily tonight and I'm praying for a slight lie-in tomorrow.Dont' expect it will happen though!

sleeplessnightsRus · 11/07/2008 23:02

Had mental night - DD at party, DS1 at sleepover, all kids at school disco and DD's party tomorrow

can't weait for the summer Waynetta Slob wind down
