Have any of your los had prickly heat?
Can you tell me best remedies- dd is covered in it!
Isn't there a oats thing you can do in the bath? (csws- I think you did it for chickenpox?)- details please!

Jas · 09/05/2008 15:45

Put some porridge oats in an old sock and run the bathwater through it as you fill it. It makes the water quite milky looking, but does seem to be quite soothing.

DP suffers really badly from heat rashes and for him a very hot shower helps, but I wouldn't try it on a two year old!

DD2 also suffers, but just spends most of her time naked, and that seems to help. (Plus ou house stays really cool,so we just don't go out too much during the day.

I hope you find something that helps her.

EachPeachPearMum · 09/05/2008 16:22

Thanks Jas! Will try this evening.
Our house remains lovely and cool too, but at nursery they are outside all day, and when she gets home she wants to be outside until bedtime! They are lathered in suncream, and have wide-brimmed hats on, and frequently play in the shade, but it has been quite hot this week (25 or 26 each day here).
She isn't bothered by the rash (doesn't seem itchy) but I think she's reacting to the suncream too, which doesn't help.
I have sent her in cool cotton long-sleeved top today to try and minimise exposure to cream.

DH said he always had prickly heat as a child- same as her- just spots, not itchy. Weird- whenever I get it, I can't stop itching!

Waves from her birthing ball to everyone whilst bouncing, too hot, have a good weekend, will try and catch up after.

Flame · 09/05/2008 19:56

No rashes here, so no help I'm afraid

proud mummy

Flame · 10/05/2008 20:18

I unlurk and you sod off... you started a new thread without me???

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/05/2008 20:27

I'm here now. Had a busy day - group of my post-natal lot came round for barbecue (with dhs), and we had a lovely time .

Poor dd has a horribly sore bottom though, from her horrid runny poos of the last 10 days or so, made worse by spending half the day in a wet sandy swim nappy (paddling pool plus sandpit). She was screaming as I changed her bottom and put cream on just before bed.

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/05/2008 20:28

Oops - meant to say well done with the potty training.

Flame · 10/05/2008 21:05

Ooh bbq sounds nice

for bum - the oats in bath help that too

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/05/2008 21:11

Mmmmm - roasted salted macadamia nuts are rather yummy. They are low in carbs, but I seem to have nearly finished 950 calories' worth. Can't see how this is going to help .

mustrunmore · 11/05/2008 17:33

950 cals? You do know thats half your RDA?! They cant be that nice. You could have 3 mars bars for that!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 11/05/2008 18:08

But that's the stupidity of it all mrm. I can't have even a bite of mars bar, as there are far too many carbs, but all of the nuts were about 5 carbs. Can't find snacks that are low in both carbs, cals and sugars, except some raw veg, which really doesn't appeal.

Flame · 11/05/2008 18:32

I never get the whole carbs no carbs thing

I vaguely understand the science behind it, but I think I am just fat too lazy to actually do it.

I'm a teeny bit burnt again Ooh, and DS looks just like that! with cheeks, and a graze on his temple

Our garden is looking amazing.

I have veg planted Whether it grows is another matter entirely...

CantSleepWontSleep · 11/05/2008 21:13

dd is still up

Flame · 11/05/2008 21:18

Argh! I don't do awake in evening children. I am far too selfish

mustrunmore · 11/05/2008 21:25

Our garden looks much better because I just sold the climbing frame!

Flame · 11/05/2008 21:25

Good point - must text dad to tell him Boy vetoed the slide

CantSleepWontSleep · 11/05/2008 21:58

She's in bed now, but I have absolutely no idea what has happened to dh - he's vanished!

CantSleepWontSleep · 11/05/2008 22:29

He's reappeared now. Lay down with dd to get her to sleep, and had a nap himself. Now he's all awake and I'm ready for bed!

EachPeachPearMum · 11/05/2008 23:41

Hi all!
We had a lovely weekend -out in the garden for most of it.
We took dd to a dance workshop yesterday, which she wasn't too keen to get involved with until we had to leave....

She has been playing in the sand pit all morning, but has had no accidents since tuesday!

Thankfully, having used a potty at nursery, she's now amenable to using one at home too- saving on back-breaking running up and downstairs every 3 mins with her.

mustrunmore · 12/05/2008 07:05

Ha ha Mrcsws; dh does that almost every time he puts ds1 to bed

Going to try and do a run this morn, although tummy still a bit dodgy. Dh comin with me

Jas · 12/05/2008 08:00

I had 10 chldren in out back garden yesterday.....all playing in that inflatible car you gave me mrm, which I was using as a paddling pool for ds

I'm starting back with my sandwich selling friend today. No cake making, but lots of other stuff to do for her

Phoenix · 12/05/2008 09:50

Ds has just refused a nappy and said he wanted his potty so i got it out and he did a wee. Then dh went in bath and i went to the loo and ds came running in saying 'poo, poo' I went in to the room to look and he had in fact done another wee and a poo in his potty

EachPeachPearMum · 12/05/2008 12:46

Yay for all the micturating, defecating little people!

(You know, no-one ever really highlights this aspect of parenting before they're born! I can't believe the stuff we discuss now, DH and I or with other mums!)

Frizbe · 12/05/2008 17:10

EPPM I said that to dh the other day, whilst we were discussing poo across dinner

Flame, told you in the post after my computer went weird and brought up posts from ages ago, as the latest posts, was all very weird, time slip thing going on

CSWS, erm not sure what these are like for carbs, but our local sainsbo's has some low GI cheesy bickys by nairns in crisp size packets, could these be the solution to your cravings? (am writing this whilst at work, so can't check carb content, just remembering I brought 3 packs for me and dh instantly ate 2 )

for no play frame MRM and for Flames veg patch and for all the weeing and pooing little lovies.

Had a lovely weekend in Wales, great Friday night without the kids, although dh had a bad one, as dd1 developed growing pains, so ended up sharing his bed, whilst I was away....he said it was easier than keeping getting up He also bailed out of driving the car back at the M5 services yesterday, begging me for the relative peace and quiet of the van The whole weekend inbetween was lovely and sunny too, bar the random Thunderstorm on Friday night, which circled us for 2 hrs, before providing half hour of rain! very tropcial.
