Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Koshka - lovely to hear from you - I wuold love to hear more about Jake and what he is upto

Wallace - party sounds fab (particularly the wine )

Flick - I would be pleased if Josh ate what you have listed there in a day so I really wouldn't worry. Josh apparently lives off fresh air !! Today, for example, we went for a 90-minute walk round a local reservoir (granted, Josh walked about a third of it and DH carried him for the rest but that is still a lot of walking for a 2-year old). I thought he would be starving and desperate for his tea when we got back particularly as he had hardly touched his lunch - I made him a crumpet pizza with ham and cheese - the lad picked the ham and cheese off and ate that but completely left the crumpet - and that was all he had - after at least 30 minutes walking!!! But that is completely normal for Josh so I have learnt not to sweat it - although he is slim, he is very solid and has plenty of energy so obviously fresh air contains more calories than we think

Gosh, that was a bit of a rant but it is a subject close to my heart

On another subject, Josh had his second-ever haircut today - he has gone all grown up again!!

x

Wallace · 21/07/2008 20:32

Leo hasn't had a haircut yet, still not an awful lot of hair. He is so white-blond at the mo which is so surprising cos he was so dark when he was born and has brown eyes!

Food - I think they have def reached the age where they seem to hardly eat for days. Some supper times Leo doesn't touch his food, and others he will wolf it down. He had definite preferences!

TheGoddessBlossom · 21/07/2008 20:51

Flick, if he is very unsettled at night and off his food, could be a teeth thing? Or coming down with something/processing something else?

Toby can match his brother mouthful for mouthful and then some so I have never had to worry about his food intake. With him it's more of a discipline issue, and having to perform to get him to eat the bloody thing rather than muck about and throw it. "If you eat this one Toby Mummy/Daddy/Harry/anyone else who is there will do a spin around/say well done/shout hurray"!! Not every meal time but it can be quite a pantomime. When I do relent and let them eat in the playroom at their table with the TV on he can munch his way through 5 courses if I let him with no cajoling needed. little monkey.

Wallace get you going to a cool birthday party on a Monday!

I was so bored at the office, I left at 3.50pm - came home to find DH just getting out of the shower after trimming all the hedges in the garden, so told him I'd come home to shag the gardener and to lose the towel....

Then did my Nell DVD and am aching so much I can barely move. Stuffed to the gills on a yummy tea andof course I am going to have to finish off the choc pudd from Saturday, just to tidy up the kitchen you understand....

Wines wearing off now It has been cold and rainy for days - nay weeks! - and today was so lovely and warm and sunny. Twas amazing

RhinestoneCowgirl · 21/07/2008 21:26

All these birthdays - can't believe our babies have got so big!

Dom is getting his first ever trip in a plane tomorrow, I'm taking him to Geneva to visit friends. V excited.

Hi Koshka, thought I'd seen your name around the boards recently. How's it all going (I was MaeWest btw).

Annie - I'm sure Dom would blame a sibling if there was one around - he denies all knowledge of shit even when he's puce in the face with the effort .

Baby is really starting to kick now, which is reassuring. Have a scan in a couple of weeks then don't see the MW again until 28 weeks. Spose they pretty much leave you to it 2nd time round...

Beadmum · 21/07/2008 22:01

flick - charlotte like josh has days where she eats loads then days like today where its hardly anything. I think she takes what she needs so never worry as she has lots of energy and is healthy, im sure jacob is like this too

bloss - had to laugh reading your post thinking is it the exercise from your dvd or the exercise with dh that has you aching sorry just ignore me

had a lovely day in the garden, hope this weather continues xx

HumphreysCorner · 21/07/2008 22:13

Bloss-sounds like you are having far too much fun.

To top my week off I put 7lb on tonight at WW. So have had some wine and cheesecake left over from Em's party. There is still some cake left. DH out on his bike so very peaceful.

Love to all

Koshka · 22/07/2008 06:48

Hi ladies.

Part of me would love to have another.

Jakew is a nightmare. stroppy.

Wont have nappy on then wees randomly!

But, he cancount to 10, can say lots of colours and shapes and animals so is quite cute when telling me what things are!

Some recent pics on my profile, will add some more.

He is a little dude Koshka - know what you mean about nappy changes. I either have to pin DS to the floor and do it while he screams, or a lot of the time I weaken and hypnotise him with ceebeebies. He would goggle for ages if I let him!

Food - think he had a bit of a growth spurt last week as he was a complete hoover and slept 15 hrs a day (split between nap and nighttime). He has settled down again now, will tend to have:

Weetabix with milk (1 or 2), fruit and dilute juice
Breadsticks & raisins
Cheese sarnie, carrot sticks, more fruit (sometimes homemade cake)
Milk mid-afternoon, another snack
Usually eats with us in the evenings so Chicken Stirfry, Shepherds Pie etc
Milk before bed

thefortbuilder · 22/07/2008 09:11

these make me feel a whole lot better thanks ladies! seems he is eating ok - the other day he polished off a huge breakfast, pretty good lunch and then big bowl of shepherds pie and 2 yoghurts and fruit after... so i guess i shouldn't worry too much!

i think i must be sending you my weight HC! not that i've lost anywhere near 7lbs but some more has definitely gone

bloss sounds like you are having my share of fun as well

well the car has gone to be fixed today - the wing mirror near came off in dh's hand last sunday so i'm really hoping that it's covered under warranty although you can pretty much guarantee it won't be...

bloss also i know he has last two canines coming through so that's something and a shot of medised before bed (first time i na long time i have had to use that) got him through till 520 this morning and then with some milk through till 630! and sam slept from 7pm till 450 as well!!! so a good nights sleep for me, and i feel so so so much better for it! and it's a bonus day because Giorgia the au pair takes jacob to little kickers this morning which is 2 hours door to door, then she has him from 230 till we do dinner bath and bed so i have lots of free time to get on with stuff today - well this morning really geting the house looking decent for estate agents [boring emoticon]

HumphreysCorner · 22/07/2008 09:54

Koshka-Jake looks cute but I know appearance can be deceptive.

spin-I was lucky to lose weight the last 2 weeks so I think it has caught up with me. Will have to count and weigh everything this week to shift some of it.

flick-no wonder you are losing weight with all the hectic rushing about you are doing. I was going to ask if the Hong Kong move was still on but I see you are getting around to the Estate Agent stage so I guess so.

Sophie's nappies have been digusting lately so I wondered if she could be getting some more teeth. She isn't complaining though and hasn't needed any medecine. Although she never has been one to moan. Spotted a gash on her elbow this morning which she said she did on the slide but I knew nothing about it. Emma asks for plasters at every opportunity.

Oh, a greenfinch has just flown into the french doors and is not moving. Have just laid him on the patio table-I think he has died and not just stunned but he is still warm. I'll leave him there a while I think.

Had better get on-supposed to be hot and sunny today but it isn't.

Love to all

HC it's absolutely boiling here (Hampshire) blue sky, the lot. Have been sunbathing working at home. Going to try and get some washing on the line too, although machine is on the blink and refusing to spin (spin sugar).

BeadMum you wrongun, deffo aching from the DVD. Do you know it is uncanny how many of my friends (after a few drinks admittedly) all agree that their sex drive is so much less than it used to be, but although I would much rather sleep than do the deed at 10.30pm, if the opportunity ever presents itself (no kids free half an hour) I am quite happy to slope off to bed It's when DH grabs/gropes/suggests while I am empting the dishwasher, or clearly in the middle of childcare, or the kids are running around, or I am completely knackered that it annoys me and causes tension.

Keep reading all the reviews of where we are going on holiday in November and the common denominator seems to be a tummy bug for the whole party.

thefortbuilder · 22/07/2008 11:22

bloss it must be an ingrained urge with dh's to think that when you are emptying the dishwasher / cleaning the fridge / looking after children that a good grope or suggestion of sex is THE right thing to do....

HC poor greenfinch

bloss where are you going on holiday again? i've forgotten

HumphreysCorner · 22/07/2008 11:49

Bloss-I am again over the weather. Lol at the groping when busy sorting the house/children. Also, every time I bend down to put my shoes on DH is like a dog on heat!

Poor greenfinch did die.

Gosh, spin, it has to be after 10pm in our house, otherwise there's be children/food present!! DH is usually as knackered as me as well...
HC, poor birdie.
Maybe you should get some slip-on shoes, so you don't need to bend down so much...

Wallace at your mimi!!

OP posts:
thefortbuilder · 22/07/2008 18:37

it all depends on when dh gets home in our house and if it's too late during the week and i'm shattered he doesn't get any which he gets ever so fed up with but he's not the one getting up in the night AT ALL and he never has so i think i have a pretty good get out clause!

another semi successful dinner....about 8 mouthfuls of lamb shank casserole, but 2 yoghurts afterwards wolfed down. but we went out for giorgia's birthday for lunch and he tried pork rillette on hazelnut toast, and loved it! and ate a bit at lunchtime so that's something i guess.

estate agent visit went well, so that's something!

TheGoddessBlossom · 23/07/2008 18:28

I have really got to get motivated re work. Spent the whole day checking no-one was emailing me and when I saw they weren't watched 2 episodes of Medium on Sky plus, did three loads of washing, went swimming, hoovered, did some ironing and went food shopping.

Going to a friend's mini-IQ party tonight.

Flick, we are going to Egypt, but not till November, so you all have 4 months of me boring the crap out of you talking about it.

ceebee74 · 23/07/2008 19:50

Evening all

Well, just thought I would share that today Josh did his first deliberate naughty thing! He deliberately threw a full cup of water at me - obviously he has done lots of mischievous things but this was so deliberate!! He was not happy when me and DH shouted at him - his little face crumpled and it was so hard not to give him a hug - what do you think the chances are of him learning his lesson eh? I guess this is the start of the 'terrible twos' then?

kbaby · 23/07/2008 22:13

Bloss- It couldve been me writing what you did about sex. Dh cant understand that when im watching tv/dishes/cleaning etc and he pounces for nooky why I dont leap up the stairs in joy. I cant be arsed and would rather a bath and sleep.

Lovely warm day here too(cardiff) although came home to find the cat had bought a dead rat home which I had to explain to DD why and then she had to inspect it and ask questions like 'did cifa eat his blood? does he like blood? wheres the rats head' and DS keeps finding snails and stamping on them with bare feet urgghhh

After doing DS bedroom he wont sleep in his bed. When we ask where hes sleeping he says 'cot'
ceebee when we tell DS off he turns around and blows a rasberry at us

cb bless you trying hard to not hug him when he presses those buttons so well! jacob does exactly the same thing when he gets told off!

bloss i can attempt to rival you with boring everyone as we are off to langkawi in october and already looking forward to it!

well the partner drinks went really well alst night except they were at the V&A not the natural history museum so i of course turned up at the wrong place, dh had a strop cos he was waiting outside the right venue for me and i had to walk further than i really needed to in silly strappy high heels but a great evening and lovely dinner, and was v restrained on the wine and champagne front.

going to an engagement party this saturday which is "summer smart casual" as the dress code - so WTF is that supposed to mean????? are white jeans, ballet flats and nice top acceptable or should it be summer dress which feels to casual, or smartish funky black trousers and top.....and you can guarantee that with my ultra stylish dh who never gets it wrong he'll say as we're about to wlak out of the door "o'h i'm not sure i'd have worn that with that" which means i have to go back and change or he'll be commenting on it all night....

glorious day here as well today! took sam out in the buggy and he fell asleep under his hat!
