well - update on the preps!.....cakes made and waiting to be iced tomorrow morning, all decs have arrived and waiting to be put up tonight, feeling pretty chilled out - ok so the co-dydramol for my neck may be helping in that department

playgroup was not on today when it should have been which would have been a real pain having got the two of them out at vast irritation from jacob, but bumped into a friend of mine i never get a chance to catch up with and had a lovely playdate at her house for a couple of hours. jacob was an angel which was lovely as well!

have a great weekend everyone as i probably won't get a chance to get on later today or till monday i don't think

Hi girls - sorry am a bit behind now - so many messages! Thanks so much for the Happy Birthdays for Emma

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Kayley and Amelia Hope you're having lovely days

Ceebee - so glad you feel better about the scan now, I'm sure all will be fine . What wonderful pics of Josh, he's such a gorgeous boy!! Lovely record of his birthday too, with him looking so happy with Thomas

Ceebee (and Impy) re VBAC - if you don't feel happy about it I would definitely question it. There are of course probably a million MN threads on it if you have the energy to plough through them!

Spin - beeyootiful pics of Roshi and Chili, looks like her party was a blast! Seriously impressive fairy cake tower Hope Roshi's better soon, sounds nightmarish. Kids are weird aren't they?? What we imagine to be not too much of a problem are just the worst disaster from their point of view, yet just when you are expecting them to really be hurt (blood pouring from wounds etc) they don't seem all that bothered! Good luck with Roshi's new bed!

Bloss - I did that cashpoint thing once, left £30 when I was seriously skint, just couldn't believe it. Of course the next person who came along must have had it as the money came out of my account, grrrrrr

Flick - what a handsome pair of lads they are!! You must be very proud of them. Jacob looks like he will be a right heartbreaker. Good luck with the cakes!

HC - hang in there, sounds like good advice from Impy to find some time to spend with DH. {{hugs to you}}

Emma's birthday was fun - cake tasted okay though it did sink! We had no Self Raising so I chucked some Bicarb of Soda into plain flour, obviously not enough though. She wasn't all that impressed by the whole cake and singing thing, bless her.

Well better stop - have good evenings all xxx

TheGoddessBlossom · 18/07/2008 19:48

right you lot where do I start:

Spin = gorge pix. Your kids are beautiful. xx

CB = do what you think is right, talk it through again if you are not happy with their decision, Spin is right, you can have what YOU want.

Flick = lovely pix of your boys, Jacob is a stunner. Has he really not had choc or crisps? Bloody hell. I thought I was strict never letting my two have a fizzy drink, and rare treats, my SIL thinks I am a dragon, but as her son has visible cavities at age 6 I feel mildly justified....sounds like the prep has gone swimmingly sorry about your neck.

Happy birthday to all babes! Hope you have great days.

Impy you are a wrongun - no I don't think HC's DH has pissed on her. What are you drinking out there? Can I have some?

HC = Sounds like you aren't having much fun. and also that you are really sticking to your guns about the whole PIL thing which in the long wrong can't be a bad thing can it? Might as well state the obvious now and have the row.

Spent yesterday afternoon at Arsenal football ground ata Sales Kick off which was very impressive. Had a pink pass from DH to the party afterwards, but as I knew NO_ONE actually bailed and ame home, and I'm so glad I did. Toby is waking at 5am at the moment and that plus a hangover equals hell on earth.

He is a amonkey he really is. Very clingy to me, heart melting 15% of the time, whingey shouty and screamy the rest to be honest. Went to do tea and bath at my parents this evening with my sister and her two girls, and I am definitely of the opinion that at this age girls are easier. My two are fighting running throwing hitting shouting - her two are just angels....guess who my parents like having over more....??

Dinner party tomorrow night at ours - DH is cooking Duck in spicy plum sauce, after scallops, followed by pear tartin. Salivating already...

sure I've missed laods of things I wanted to say...

Love me.

Bloss

PS got my £50 back! Hurray! Buy you a bloody bottle of wine now Annie never mind a beer!

thefortbuilder · 18/07/2008 20:34

will post pics of the "2" cake as although it's no icing creation it looks blardy fantastic! double layer choc cake with cream in the middle - my saving grace is that it's all organic and yes bloss, only one bite of choc cake at a birthday party on the day sam was born (MIL let him) and no crisps or chips yet - he did however get a big slug of coca cola when we were at the hospital with sam a few weeks ago - apparently picked up a can on the table, dh keeping the usual lacksadaisical eye on him....and took a massive great mouthful, but appeared not to like the taste, spat it out and yelped!

got to start decorating room for tomorrow so dh doens't have a fit at "the huge amount we have still to do"....panic panic panic!

kbaby · 18/07/2008 22:12

Ceebee- I bet it was you who got all the shorts I wanted for age 2-3 for next summer managed to get a few things though, ordered a pair of sandals that I almost paid full price for last week.

Weve almost finished doing ds bedroom now so he will be in his big ned on sunday. I am dreading it. MIL has also decided yest that hes ready for potty training so when he was doing a poo she sat him on the toilet which was all very well until she went home as he refused to put a nappy back on and kept weeing all over my floor and then sitting on his potty after the event. Nappies safetly back on today.

He copies everything DD does, after her dinner we ask her to eat 2 more mouthfulls so now after his dinner he says '2 more' while holding up 5 fingers and then carries on eating his dinner. Bless.

Flik and Spin- I wish I was as healthy as you two. DD was not allowed any junk food until she was 2 but needless to say DS gets way more than she used to and is a terror for biscuits and I try to encourage milk or water instead of juice but they do get the occasional juice and treats. Have to watch MIL though as her version of occasional is once a day! I feel you would keel over at my house in shock.

Bloss- DS at this age is much worse that DD was but then I think hes only this bad because he has DD winding him up all the time. Sje keeps telling him what he can or cant do and they argue over everything. Tonight it was the fact that there wasnt enough room in her bed for him to climb in for a story too cue lots of kicking, crying and throwing of books.

HumphreysCorner · 19/07/2008 08:35

Emma is 5 today so hyper active 100 times as bad.

Hope all OK.

ok so apparently I am doing the puddingnow for tonight - going to do chocolate raspberry dessert cake - god knows when as it looks like i am sole childcarer again today....

TheGoddessBlossom · 19/07/2008 08:41

Happy birthday Emma!

ceebee74 · 19/07/2008 12:41

Happy 5th birthday to Emma - so grown up!! HC - hope the day goes well!

Flick - can't wait for photos and news from Jacob's party!! I bet you are all having a whale of a time. Like Kbaby, I feel you would be horrified if you came to our house and see what Josh eats!! Unfortunately both me and DH have sweet tooths so there is usually chocolate or sweets in the house!! The one thing I have stuck to is he only drinks water or milk - seems when I let him eat so much crap but there you go!!

Kbaby - I couldn't find much for Josh in the sale tbh - I mainly got maternity clothes for me and some baby stuff - so I am sure I didn't pinch your shorts

Re VBAC - I think the problem is that I haven't made my own mind up about what I want. I know that electing for a c-section is yet another taboo on MN (along with Fruit shoots and Crocs ) but I think that would be my preferred option but the thought of being away from Josh for 3 nights is killing me tbh!

Josh is coming down with yet another cold...grr!! He has been a nightmare this morning for tantrums - of course we are putting it down to his cold but it could be the start of the 'terrible twos'........

x

PixelHerder · 19/07/2008 19:27

Happy birthday to Emma Hope you're getting a few BH's in HC

Ceebee - Emma is very tantrummy and doesn't have a cold as an excuse! She does the whole throwing herself to the floor bit, then crawling around pathetically, weeping and wailing

Re c section, it's such a shame we can't be just given the facts and be allowed to make a choice, without the bloody politics (NHS and otherwise) coming into it isn't it It is our bodies and our babies after all.

Kbaby - lol at 'nappies safely back on', I'm with you on that, no potty around these parts yet...!

re junk - I was a complete facist about Emma's diet till recently. Have got very lax about crips now though, she just hoovers them up. I did allow her the odd choccy biscuit, but now try to hide them from her as she makes such a bloody mess with them and I can't be arsed to clear it up (so I have to eat them in secret) Have also had to cut out giving juice as she was demanding it all the time and having a tantrum if she got given water.

Talking of choc your cake sounds yummy Bloss - send some over

have good nights all xxx

PixelHerder · 19/07/2008 19:35

oh Impy, forgot to say what a bummer about having to cope on your own during the week at the mo - do come on here and moan if you need some moral support through the tantrums

Koshka · 20/07/2008 06:48

Hello!

I didn't know this was still going

I was koshka1984, i have a DS jake who was born 3rd July 2006.

How many are trying for more babies already?!?!?

Are you ladies MAD!!!!!!

Koshka x

TheGoddessBlossom · 20/07/2008 07:41

Hi Koshka, good to hear from you, how is everything?

My cake was divine. As was DH's meal. Unfortunately so was the countless glasses of white wine and champagne I consumed, and we were all still up at 1.30am blathering on. So I havae had a clear 4 hours sleep and feel very very delicate.

It's going to be a looooooooooong day.....

ImpyChica · 20/07/2008 12:36

Hi Koshka! Welcome back! We sent out birthday wishes to Jake on the 3rd - how is he getting on? How are u doing?

Thxs for your lovely msg Pixel, you adorable thing, you! DP is back this w/end and we went out for a super romantic night out last night to a posh restaurant. Almost worth being left on my own for a few days to experience that!

LOL Wallace at me being preggers!!! I did say "when I go down that road"!! No plans in the near future... You should put your foot down about a c-section CB, darling. Don't let them bully you. Funnily enough I think it would be more difficult to convince the medics that a VBAC would be a good idea here in Spain - they are very c-section happy. Thanks for everyones comments on the choices - I'm now erring on the side of saying f**k the natural birth malarky and just going for an elective (whenever it happens).

Re junk food - blimey - I'm pretty relaxed about Ry. He has red wine and everything!!! (not whole pints - just a wee sample!) He's good with water but has juice in the mornings. Plenty of chocolate and crisps. So I'll totally understand if none of you want to speak to me again for being such a bad mother!

And on to the boringness of potty training. Got one of those seats that fit over the toilet - and he's much happier sitting on there than on his potty. Not that he does much... but he's getting the idea. He was nappy/free yesterday and wet his boxers - so went running through to try and climb on the loo - all too late of course but he's getting there!

LOVELY pix Kbaby! Your two are gorgeous. Looks like you had fun.

Oh happy belated birthday to Emma!!! 5 is so grown-up! Hope you had a great day HC.

Hugs to everyone else.

Impy xxx

thefortbuilder · 20/07/2008 20:36

hi koshka! yes we have little samuel in our house who is 4 months old today!

well....the big news in the flick household is that jacob has done a wee on the toilet for the last 3 nights running and also last two mornings, and poo'd as well this morning! have to get a trainer toilet seat as he too is not interested in sitting on the potty at all now.

the party was fantastic although i have no picture of the 2 cake, but it went down really well. we got loads of dvd but i'm not sure how to post just a bit of it. Dh was filming the happy birthday and blowing out of candles and said "bet he puts his hand in the flame now"....and true to form jacob tried to touch the candle flame - a great party - everyone had a brilliant time and no real tantrums or fights over toys. the blow up thomas paddling pool was a huge hit too. will post next week when i've downloaded them. bil left finally with his gf at 630! after having pizza and 6 bottles of wine, although i was so controlled and had only 2 glasses - mind you i'm still up to my eyes on painkillers for my neck.

anyway, enough of my whittering! we too are having great tantrums - throwing o nfloor and crawling away in floods of tears. and he's sleeping terribly too -

TheGoddessBlossom · 20/07/2008 21:07

hey good idea I think I'll get one of those trainer toilet seats too..

had a blissful two hour sleep at lunchtime today, when T went to bed. DH and I were soooooooooo hungover all day, no-one in this house got dressed, the boys played in the garden all day with all their toys. I don't think we have EVER stayed in all day before, since we had H!!!

Have just had fish and chips for tea. Gorgeous. Back on the calorie treadmill tomorrow, god it's boring being female.

xxxxxxxx

Hi ladies!!

Belated Happy Birthday to Amelia for Friday
And Junior for Saturday, and of course our big girl Emma too

Thanks for all the birthday wishes for Mimi too, we had a blast! She LOVES her fairy toadstool thingy, and got a million and one other things too, so spoilt.
The in-laws were down until today (said good-bye as I left this morning, yaay!) so they did a lot of baby-sitting. On Saturday morning they took the babes to the park for about 4 hours, while DH and I got everything ready. They also took them there yesterday for about 5 hours! DH and I had a day off together in London Baby, shopping and when we got back had a few beers and even a curry in a restaurant!
I made a cake, well I cheated and used a ready made mix thing. Joey helped me, and they both helped decorate on Friday.

And Joey seems to be finally 'getting' his toilet thing. He's managing to do his wees on the toilet, though we still have to ask him every few minutes, he won't tell us yet.
Mimi has gone into denial about hers, and blames Joey (or me!) for any poo that she does, eg:
Mimi: groan, grunt
Me: Mimi? Do you need a poo?
Mimi: Errrgh no thank you eeeergh mammy.
Me: Are you doing one in your pants?
Mimi: No, Joey's doing one mammy.
Joey: I AM NOT!

Lots of stories, but I can't really remember anything now... lots of wine see! (thanks Bloss!)

HC, hope things are ok again with you and DH? [hug]

Spin, you are definitely a food nazi! I held off choc and crap til 1, and then only occasionally, but lately they seem to be having more. I blame DH and his mother. And birthday season I guess.

Flick, well done to Jacob on the toilet! Gorgeous photos of your boys.

Hello Koshka! What have you and Jake been up to!?
Love to Wallace, Impy, Pixel, Ceebee, Kbaby, and everyone else

Lotsa love
Annie

yes HC happy 5th bday for emma!

spin neck is sort of laid funny, slept funny, cricked neck thing.... it's happened before and turns out vertebrae 3 and 4 are wearing prem and there isn't as much stuff in between them as there should be so any kind of pain manifests itself there... but it is clearing u now though!

poor jacob is sleeping so badly at the moment - down in with us since 230 this morning, at 330 till 445 going back to sleep every few mins, waking up after 5 mins wanting dh to get dooooown out of bed, demanding a cuddle, then wanting to go back to sleep then all repeated til lhe refused to go back to sleep, crying, and i took him down and slept on the sofa with him. and he's not even playing up doing it he's really distressed poor little man. but is still happy napping in his room during the day which is something at least.

well, now we've one party out of the way, i'm planning the menu for my birthday dinner party at start of november and then it's dh's 40th at start of december! it's just never ending at the moment

have the estate agents coming round tomorrow to talk about letting the house out etc. spin who did you move with back to oz? we had cadogan tate recommended but have heard nothing back from them whilst pickfords international have tried to practically bite my arm off! we moved with them last time and they were very good so may just go with them again.

must away

thefortbuilder · 21/07/2008 20:10

is anyone else having battles at mealtimes? some days jacob will eat really well but days like today and yesterday - today goes like this:

half a croissant for breakfast
box of raisins as mid morning snack
water through morning
lunch - 2 slices of ham and three chunks of cheese (block length but thinish) - refused all baguette but had a whole carton of smoothie
banana at around 330pm
water through afternoon
dinner - 6 mouthfuls of shepherds pie - yes a total of 6 mouthfuls
milk after dinner was spread over 1 hour before bath when normally it's gulped down.

yesterday was pretty much the same although it can be very much up and down.

normally i persevere more over dinner if we have this issue and get some yoghurt etc into him but i was just so frustrated with him tonight i said that's it - nothing sweet if you don't have your dinner.....blah blah blah i may as well have been talking any other language to him the notice he took of me!

Wallace · 21/07/2008 20:15

Annie - it always makes me smile when you talk about your mimi. My dd is also "mimi"

Just been to a fantastic birthday party. Leo's girlfriend was turning three, and her big brother's tenth too. Lots of kids of all ages and lots of wine
