Evening everyone

Just wanted to pop in and share my (very) proud mummy moment - Josh can (nearly) count to ten - am amazed!! He misses out 5 and 10 but the other numbers are in the correct order I know some of your babes have been doing this for a while but it seems such an achievement considering how less developed his speech has been. Btw, his speech has also come on leaps and bounds these last few weeks - am sure moving into the 'big room' at nursery has done it!

End of my gushing now

Hope you are all having good weekends.

kbaby · 03/08/2008 20:57

Thanks for all the birthday wishes. He had a nice day and luckily the weather turned out nice so we could have a bar b q and I didnt need to worry about how I would manage 20 adults and 9 children in the house. DS loved opening his presents and moved from one to the other so quickly I had trouble keeping up with what was from who. His cake turned out ok too. Im shattered now though yesterday I woke at 7.30am and did no even sit down or have a drink/food until 4pm.

Ceebe- Ds speech has finally come along too. Its not as advanced as some of the others but we now get lots of single words and the odd 2/3 word sentence.

Cant seem to stop eating tonight, so far ive had poached egg and toast, 3 cakes and a acket of fizzy cola bottles and I still want more.

PixelHerder · 03/08/2008 22:35

Wow Ceebee that?s great!! Sounds like moving up a room has suited Josh. How?s it going with tiredness and work, are you counting the days till mat leave?

Emma seems to have regressed back to 1 and 2 which she loves to chant when going up and down the stairs. She went through a phase of saying 1 ? 2 ? 9 but seems to have dropped the 9 . Her vocab?s going great guns at the moment, but she?s obviously not a mathematician

Kbaby ? sounds like you?ve earned your supermum party-organiser award ? no wonder you?re hungry!! Glad you had a good day.

Great that you had some quality time with DH HC It?s amazing how hard it is to properly relax with the lo?s around isn?t it?

Well to chip in with my Mother of the Year credentials, Emma is currently sporting a black eye from headbutting the coffee table. And I was only sat about 3 feet from her when she toppled onto it ? so just goes to show you can?t plan for every eventuality.

She?s still in her cot, no attempts to jump it since the first one ? so as it?s quite a roomy one I think we?ll keep her there till she can kick down the bars (so when she?s about 15 then )

And? we have finally bought a potty. She sat on it sans nappy quite happily, then got up and managed to do a big 2-part poo whilst strolling across the carpet, quite an impressive feat actually. So that has been our first (and only so far) sojurn into potty training.

Have good nights all xxx

TheGoddessBlossom · 04/08/2008 09:52

Morning all.

In office today, so will be asleep on desk drooling, having eaten all my lunch and had 18 cups of tea, by 11.25....so boring in here, at least at home I can dot about doing things.

Am seeing HR today about my ludicrous situation.

Had a manic few days and am posioned by alcohol. Was out Thursday night with the girls, then stayed at a friend's with the boys on Friday night - they wouldn't go to bed, so I chucked them out the front door in the end, and shut it. Cue wails and screams - "Are you going to go to sleep now? YEEEESSS MUMMEEE" and they went out like lights. I am a cruel horrible person.

Then Saturday we went out for dinner, and Sunday was Toby and his cousin Lily's (4 days older than him) joint birthday party for all the family, at my sisters house. My other sister made their cakes, a pink jelly tot L and a chocolate smartie T, I will post pix they were fantastic. Load of sausage rolls, pizza, french bread, ham, crisps and wine and beer, sand pit and swings, everyone had a really good time.

T isn't 2 till Friday (the last one?) and then we can do a new thread...I will be making him another cake I think, so excited about him opening all his presents, have bought him this and I think we are going to go for a picnic with all his little friends Friday avo. I suppose I'd better supply cakes on Wednesday (last day this week at nursery) for his birthday too, god it's never ending isn't it!!!

Right, more tea.

Bloss

god spin i don't think i'd have managed the 900 steps!

all well here except the playdte we went on on friday morning it turns out that the kids have chicken pox and the spots came out friday afternoon so sam is in isolation poor little thing as a lot of our friends' kids havne't had it yet and don't want to catch it ust before going on holiday. dh is of course getting himself all upset about sam having scars on his face....

jacob can kind of do some counting but it is very hit and miss! although his speech has exploded - we tried to count up how many words that he uses regularly and it's just masses, and it's coming on so quickly now - lots of 3 word sentences and commands etc. given i was so worried a few months ago i'm v pleased

we all have colds here as well, and i have a sore throat so feeling a bit sorry for myself. that said, dh decided that i don't really have enough smart casual / early evening dinner or drinks / nice lunch out clothes (for when we are in HK) so i have been out buying dresses! 7 in the last week or so but he told me to!!!

anyway must away, sam is stirring

TheGoddessBlossom · 04/08/2008 14:28

looks like i'm deffo being made redundant. Having bitched and moaned about my job, I do feel a bit sick about it all to be honest. We don't rely on my money but it helps us not worry remotely about money, which now I think we will again, until I find something else. And one of the reasons I went back to work was going mad with the children at home all day and I'm scared about being back there again....what a conundrum. And yet excited too about having the rest of the Summer with them! ARRRGGHH!!

thefortbuilder · 04/08/2008 17:07

o'h bloss what a pain for you.

maybe spend the summer with them and look to find something you could start in the autumn?

HumphreysCorner · 05/08/2008 10:21

Bloss-how frustrating for you. I would spend the summer with the boys then start looking beginning of September or January. Fresh year, new start?

hi everyone - well a sad evening i nthe flick household last night. had to use glue traps to deal with our mice and caught 2 . i cried putting them out in the garden. we have tried every other way of getting rid of them and they were just too clever.

not much else happening - jacob is peeing like a demon at the moment - anyone have any ideas if there could be something wrong? apparently yesterday afternoon at the park in the space of about 2 hours, 4 massive pees, and he hadn't had that much to drink

we have a nursery place for both boys in HK!!! and pickfords have come in with their move quote which is only half as bad as i was dreading - spin who did you use?

HumphreysCorner · 05/08/2008 12:23

flick-I use those humane mouse catchers and put nuts in the end. They run in and the door shuts catching them safely. Sounds very sad but you really can't have an infestation of mice. Sophie wees like a trouper but she does drinks lots-can't potty train her until she stops glugging. Sure Jacob will be fine-doubt it is an infection but maybe get it checked out at the Drs? Good news about the nursery places.

thefortbuilder · 05/08/2008 15:57

HC ours used to sniff around those and then leave them alone.... tried nuts, mars bar, nice dark chocolate, peanut butter and various other things. at least one of them had been lifted from the garden by the time this morning came so it's gone back into the food chain - sorry i know it sounds mercenary.

have been religiosly checking jacob's peeing today and he seems to be a bit better and it's not dark or anything and doesn't hurt him so i think he's ok.

just been for a 40 minute non stop run!!!and haven't collapsed yet whic his a minor miracle

and think i am falling foul of someone on an au pair thread - may just shut up methinks

where are you all???????

PixelHerder · 05/08/2008 17:12

bummer about the job Bloss - redundancy always feels like a kick in the teeth doesn't it, even if you didn't like the job and it wasn't your fault. Still, onwards and upwards, sure you'll find something MUCH better .

Sounds like a magical weekend Spin - I went to the Blue Mountains a while back, it's really atmospheric isn't it.

Flick - know what you mean about the mice - we've got them in our garage and have found nests in Emma's pram sheepskin fleece, and also in a rolled up rug (which is now ruined) grrrrr Didn't have the heart to put poison down despite FIL's exhortations - but it would be a different matter if they were in the house.

Emma's play house is finally erected (only took DH 4 days - it was bloody difficult to be fair. She is very taken with it, but she likes to have company, so DH and I have been taking it in turns to sit inside it with her on mini chairs, sipping tea. I can see the novelty of that wearing off pretty quickly (for us)...

Well better get on and do the Tesco order - I know how to live don't I

spin yes we are moving the whole house - we used pickfords for our last whole house move just i nlondond and they were excellent and they are allied pickfords for the overseas move. it's just under £6k to go to HK and we are thinking of jsut selling the car as the registration duty for HK for it is about £3k on its own...

still on pox watch - what do they look like when they first appear - bloss didn't your lo's have it?

off for a nap - am shattered

TheGoddessBlossom · 06/08/2008 18:59

little blistered spots - that usually start around groin area or under hairline sometimes....

I am bloody knackered. Dropped boys at nursery, came home and did a 30 minute exercise DVD, went to my parents and cleaned their (not insignificantly sized) house, as my mum can't cope and they've got guests coming, came home and blitzed our playroom, threw out all old toys, de-cobwebbed, hoovered and dusted, went shopping for food, collected kids, and have just bathed and bedded T. H still to go, DH fishing.....

I reckon if I didn't drink I'd be about 7 stone based on my activity levels. Unfortunately I do.....

Hello all

Long time no see

Was Eilidh's birthday 1st of August but didn't do anything Just did crappy cake and candles lol.

It's dd1's birthday this week and we are having a party for her and Eilidh together but dd1 says it's just for her.

So difficult to buy for them, because i am a CM i have huge amounts of toys and equipment.

I am praying for a dry day on Saturday as we plan to BBQ. If shitty weather it's buffet style indoors which i think is never as nice

Eilidh is really coming on. Is using the toilet fairly often and wants to be out of nappies. Can talk pretty well too, 7 or 8 word sentences most of the time.

DS1 did well in his highers so staying on for 6th year to do advanced highers. Still working at the supermarket and has bought himself a lap top and a 42" tv amongst other stuff. Nice he has a work ethic lol

DS2 doing well also, going into 2nd year and foing fast track in 3 subjects so far. Don't know where they get their brains from but it's not me!!

DD1 is a sweetie (most of the time) and can't wait to start school next year (neither can i)

I will come back and read the thread and catch up properly. Hope you are all keeping well and enjoying all our babies growing up xxx

ok prepare yourselves. Rant alert, which I would only do with this language on this thread.

I don't care, if my FARKING kids watch the FARKING telly for 24 hours every day for the rest of their FARKING lives after today. I really pulled out all the stops this morning, we made gingerbreadmen, we iced them, we played lorries, puzzles, in the garden, in the playroom, I got the play doh out....were they happy? Were they fark. If one wasn't screaming and crying, the other one was. Toby was UNBEARABLE! Refused to let Harry play nicely with anything, had to have it or screamed the place down, and Harry REFUSED to share. I was calm personified, until hour 4 of it, and then they took turns screaming in the downstairs loo.

Put Toby to bed and had two hours of peace, and the MINUTE I got him up they started again, as H was holding a whistle Toby had to have.

I bloody give up. Am getting drunk and having bombay mix for tea. Am supposed to be having a Mini IQ party for my friend and at least 5 of the 9 guests have cancelled, selfish bloody bitches, I would never do that at the eleventh hour. Am sitting in my living room withthe furniture pushed aside and extra chairs out expecting a quarter of the people I thought were coming.

More wine landlord.

Thankyou for reading. Going now.

TheGoddessBlossom · 07/08/2008 19:33

.....and if Toby is like that tomorrow, he can live in the downstairs bloody loo, birthday or no frigging birthday......

TheGoddessBlossom · 07/08/2008 19:33

....oh and I've cancelled bloody Christmas.....

thefortbuilder · 07/08/2008 20:16

bloss am slinging a bottle of pinot your way sounds like you need it!

happy birthday eilidh that i missed

and happy birthday T for tomorrow - unless it's cancelled as well

have a look at this and tell me what you think - i know there is a random paypal button on one page but apart from that??? and not that i'm suggesting any of you should be buying my wonderful wonderful things but if you do i'll give you a 20% discount - just put your mumsnet name on the notes, or email me! sorry i know that's incredibly cheeky but if you don't ask

we bought jacob one of those ladybird things that shines stars out of it's back onto the walls and ceiling - he seems to have developed a fear of the dark so hopefully this will help

not much else to say except no pox spots yet and i'm checking every 10 secs or so!

HumphreysCorner · 07/08/2008 20:20

Bloss- Can totally sympathise as Emma and Sophie are being a nightmare and anything I do for them is never enough.

How very rude of the people to cancel last minute. Hopefully, the others will show and it may take your mind off today's traumas temporarily. In the words of Anne of Green Gables "tomorrow is a fresh day with no mistakes".
