Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MaeWest · 16/04/2008 20:00

Annie - Dom has been refusing to nap this week, both with me and his CM, and night have been more unsettled again . A whole day entertaining a toddler is hard work without a little break! Although I must admit that I did cheat this afternoon and we curled up together on the sofa watching a crappy made for tv movie on Channel 5

My mum is coming to stay tomorrow and the house is still a tip...

hiccymapops · 16/04/2008 21:15

Evening everyone

I've just managed to get my little monster to sleep! He's really fighting it at the minute, but he's always been a terrible sleeper to be honest. We still get up a few times through the night. Is anyone elses little ones like this? Everyone i know seems to have little angels that sleep through! I'm sure i'm doing something wrong.

I've just been having a nosey at everyone's pictures You all seem to know each other so well, i'm trying to catch up a bit! It's nice to be able to picture you're little ones when you talk about them, i'm not just nosey! (well, a bit)

We went to a soft play centre this morning, and all the things there for Ben to play with, and he did his usual and played with the fire extinguisher and tried to get all the condiments off the tables Oh and his new thing is going around trying to put other peoples shoes on. I despair!

Hope everyone's okay xx

Wallace · 16/04/2008 21:16

spin - when do you get results? xx

Pavlovthecat · 16/04/2008 21:17

Well hello ladies!

Long time no speak. I have been very very bad.
How are our little ones?
DD is wonderful, apart from the first of I guess many terrible terrible tantrums, made me cry! But usually makes me laugh, and is a joy.

I shall spend some time reading the posts here

HumphreysCorner · 16/04/2008 21:22

Pavlov-have just spotted you on a PayPal thread and was looking at your profile to see what you are up to hence spotted you posting here. Welcome back!

Pavlovthecat · 16/04/2008 21:31

HC my profile is not up to date. But I am just uploading some piccies of Bella for you all to look at!
I come on from time to time and linger, and occasionally I post, usually some quick sharp comment on people saying/doing irritating things! And the odd bit looking for advice on how to deal with a tantrum child who has just dropped a heavy object on my toe .

How is motherhood? It is grand from where I am, feeling a smidge broody tho...

Pavlovthecat · 16/04/2008 21:40

pavlov - welcome back

Been a bit stressful here with flat selling, entry date for new house is may 29th so didnt leave us long to sell flat but hasnt been as easy as we'd thought worried now we'll lose house, we've only got a few days left. solicitor told us it would be no problem as prices still rising in scotland but doesnt seem to be the case as there is more flats on the market than ever before. Had 2 viewings last night so fingers crossed, might have to take less than we wanted but would rather that than lose house

charlotte is a joy at the moment, so funny. Talking loads more and when you ask for a cuddle she comes running over to give you one still fifi obsessed when she is getting her coat on to go out she shouts 'bye fifi' and says hi and bye to everyone she sees

Other news is my bf had a baby boy on saturday, he was 4 weeks early and hadnt been feeding well but is doing well now. Hopefully he will be home in a few days, luckily she is able to stay in the unit with him. He is beautiful, if i wasnt already broody, i would be now

Have a lovely day everyone xx

HumphreysCorner · 18/04/2008 10:42

Its good to see other's babies doing the same things as Bella - shoes and socks, obsessed too, she has a few pairs, and she always wants all of them on. She has taken to putting her socks on her hands now so she can wear two pairs, and its really funny to see, she was cleaning her teeth this morning with a white sock on all the way up to her elbow, looked very regal!

She is also into clothes, we just got given some clothes from a friend, was their little girl's, and going through them, She just picked up shirts and trousers going 'aaah pritty' 'aww coot' lifting her arms up to try them on, sitting down for trousers to be put on.

Also taking a very keen interest in the toilet...any other babies ? Today, i was changing her nappy and she said 'tollot' took my hand and led me to it. I put her on it, we both went 'psssssssss' and then wiped, as she likes me to do. Did not go, but refused to let me put her nappy back on so I left her. DH walked into the bathroom two seconds later to find her sat, by the toilet, in her own wee! If I had been there, she probably would have actually gone in the toilet! But I did not want to push her, its very early, but she is just very interested now.

She has also started smacking me a bit, sometimes too excited, sometimes annoyed, and she bites too, very hard, when she is angry...anyone elses lo's do this? How do you deal?

Wallace · 18/04/2008 20:48

Ah I can never keep up! I do read, but never find time to reply to everyone.

It is lovely hearing the wee (ha ha there really was no pun intended!) stories.

xx

HumphreysCorner · 18/04/2008 20:54

Pavlov-someone told me that you are to bite back. I did this to Emma and she never bit me again. Of course, you don't have to try this method. Bella sounds adorable.

Hi everyone.
Ive read all the messages so quickly ive forgotten who said what so apologies.

Congratulations maewest, your all making me broody, ive been trying to persuade DH that we need a 3rd but then I have a bad day with both DC and think 'no way am I having another'

Ds is over the pox and back to his normal self. Has started headbanging now if he doesnt get his own way. I told him off on saturday for banging his car into the kitchen cupboard so he picked up the car and threw it and then crawled over to my leg to head butt me, I kept moving away so eventualy he gave up head butted the cupboard and sat himself on the naughty step while screaching. He doesnt seem fazed by being told off.
Im panicking about making this bloody my little pony cake for DD's birthday. I had a ractice run yesterday and the pont turned into a blob of icing, everyone keeps telling me to buy a pony to stick on it but im determined to make one instead.

HC - hope your feeling better.

xx

TheGoddessBlossom · 19/04/2008 22:11

YO YO!! C'est Moi.

Things to cover on this monster post:

holiday
Work
Toby and Spex
General

(look at me writing an agenda, sad cow)

But firstly - Congrats Maewest! Such wonderful news, so happy for you and DH and Dom,

And welcome to all newbies, and hi to Pav and Jeanie good to see you back.

We have had a week in Fuerta Ventura with all of Dh's family for MIL's 60th. We had a good time, all got on really well, but it was no holiday in terms of relaxation - villa was all tiles and steps, pool was artic, unbeleivably windy - but spent most days on the beach which the boys totally loved. Do a few things different next time, kids club for starters!! Four hour flight each way with two smalls was no picnic either, Spin I do not know how you flew to Oz. I would have drugged them and then rugged myself. fact.

Rigt what's next, who's still reading? Work is a bit dire to be honest. Have no line manager, no support, no structure and have had no training. Have been handed 8 accounts from someone who has left, plus all my own stuff, and have no idea what I am doing. Will stick it out for a few more months and see if things improve, but mildy panicking. No regrets about going back to work but it's very different to where I was before, and the guy who hired me has gone so I feel like lots of assumptions are being made about my experinece and capabilities....

Toby has been a little star with his patch. Wearing it 6 hours a day no problems at all. Amazing what chocolate and a promise of looking at the birdies out the window can achieve. He is absolutely dreamily adorable at the moment. SO cute and SO sweet, and SO affectionate. He is not a tantrummer, he can have a crying fit with the best of them but it's easily ignorable and usually cos he is tired...Harry and he slept together in single beds pushed together on holiday, he didn't fall out once, and both slept through till 7am every night like little gorgies.

Spex are a bit of a different story - I picked them up the day before hols, but they didn't fit right particularly when he was wearing the patch, so they kept falling off. Had them refitted today and they are much better, he wore them all afternoon no problem.

Toby's speech is now really really good - "Toby do curtains Mummy, I'll do it, I'll get it, Toby go Swimming, Toby's turn, please Mumy, No thankyou, pardon, sorry" etc. Unreal. So proud! I could eat him.

Harry is a total live wire, but also being a right character at the moment, coming out with hilarious statements, determined to be so independent, has to do EVEYTHING himself, get dressed, get into the bath, open the car door/front door, goes mad if you help him. I try to step back and let him, but when you are in a hurry it's hard....he gets very over excited when we have friends over, and his behaviour can be hard to manage, as it manifests in leaping off furniture, and punching and throwing. Get so sick of the sound of my own voice sometimes.....

Went to an ace birthday party this afternoon - they had Smartie Artie kids entertainer and he was superb. Had the attention of 15 3 and under kids for 3 hours, all through tea and before and after, they were all totally rapt! Harry and Toby adored, it, both dancing, laughing their heads off! It was ace. I didn't think H ate much, but managed to get an insider view of what he did consume as most of it came back u p in the car on the way home. Deep joy.

Dh and I are good, getting on really well, lots of loving, lots of talking. All good on that front.

have so many pix to show you, including Toby's first haircut, holiday shots etc, but need to wrestle with photobox, it doesn't want to play at the moment, is there a better one I should use?

Love to all.

just quickly - bloss you are so lucky with tobes and his specs - jacob refuses to wear them for longer than about 3 minutes and does so by basically bending them completely out of shape so we have to take them off him...

thinknig we need a naughty step / corner as he is being such a little monkey at the moment - starting some real tantrums. although he is saying please (pease) when he wants something, most of the time!

not much else to report mil has left finally and dh and i have managed not to argue since friday woo hoo!!!!!

must go jacob aka the computer wrecker has appeared.....

MaeWest · 20/04/2008 18:03

Hi all

Mum has just been staying for the weekend, so nice to spend some time with her (told her about pg). Feeling pretty knackered and not particularly inspired.

Good to hear from you Bloss, we miss you when you're not around . Hope work sorts itself out, my organisation doesn't do support or line management either.

TheGoddessBlossom · 20/04/2008 18:51

note to self, never mention on MN that your kid doesn't tantrum and you are getting on with your DH. Have done nothing but argue bitterly withy DH today about our favourite subject, the unequal division of childcare, and T has been vile. me and my big gob.....

ImpyChica · 21/04/2008 21:00

Hi ladies!

Your DH is giving up cricket for your b/day CB!!! Must be love! I suggest you get a trip to the Rovers Return followed by a slap up meal at Roy's Rolls.... (not taking the piss out of your North-West roots honest - I love me a bit of Corrie, me, that's all!)

LOL at Joey forcing his Daddy to hit the bottle at 7am Annie! Kayley is so advanced with her speaking - v impressed. Ry did try and say "zapatos" (shoes) the other day but he's no where near making a sentence yet..!

Pixel - thinking of getting a stash of empty crisp packets and crayons on your suggestion now - genius! How's the house selling/moving going? I can't remember what stage you're at. Hope it's all going ok petal. (and, whispers, hope you're having fun TTC! - if you still are...)

Hiccymapops and other newbies - don't be put off by us all knowing each other so well - just jump in and tell us your news - love hearing from you. Great pix too! And Bella is gorgeous Pav! Really grown up little girl. You should potty train her if she looks interested. Have been trying half-heartedly for a while with Ry - they do it at the nursery with him so I'm just continuing at home. Not much success... Guess I haven't posted the blog up in a while or so, talking of pictures (not potty-training!), here it is

So sorry you're having a nightmare with the house sale Bead. Got all my finger's crossed that it gets snapped up soon. Charlotte sounds a darling. Bless. And you're getting broody, are ya?

Ooh go on Kbaby - have a third!!! I'm really on everyone's back today to get up the duff, aren't I??!! It's cos I have no intention of going down that route for a while myself, so want to live through you lot! You're next aren't you, HC??

Glad Tobes is getting on alright with his glasses and hope Jacob gets more used to them Flick - must be so frustrating. How's Sam getting along? Give the little bean a cuddle from me! My work colleague who's on mat leave came in today with her two month old - scream! Soooo sweet! I can't believe Ry was ever that small!

Bet your mum is made up about baby no. 2 Mae! Glad you had a great time with her.

So DP is in India now and I'm holding the fort until in-laws get here on Thurs. Really busy at work - have to present a project I've been working on for a while to the big boss tomorrow, in Spanish... argh. Tempted to hit the rioja first....!

Well love to all. Take it easy.

Impy xxx

HumphreysCorner · 21/04/2008 21:13

Great pics Impy. Lol-yes, we must be mad but got to go for No3. Come on, isn't it time Ry had a sibling?

Bloss-join the falling out with our DH/DP club. Men Hope things are better than here at the mo.

Lost another 1.5 lb tonight at WW so now 5 lb under goal which isn't good. I am eating so must be the stress of the moment.

Off to get a cuppa now the girls are in bed.

Love to all

HC you are wanting a third yet not speaking to DH and too skinny! Go figure! Yes things are much better here now thanks, Sunday was a blip, I hope....

HumphreysCorner · 22/04/2008 12:00

Lol Bloss We are speaking again but apparently it is my fault we haven't any money and he really dug into me on Sunday about it. Made me cry-ggrrggg!!! I am not trying to lose weight but can't bring myself to eat just to gain weight (don't know how Renee Zellweger did it for Bridget Jones-well, I do. Twas the money I expect). Was 7st 13 lb this morning. Think I last weighed 7 stone something when I was 10 yrs old. Glad things are better your end and keep your eye on that job of yours-don't let it make you unhappy.
