hi everyone, well can't keep up at the moment not having been on for a few days! trying to get my website uploaded with all the links working properly - after all why employ a profesional when you could spend hours figuring it out yourself

we have had the potty out for a while and jacob now loves to sit on it before his bath - takes his nappy off and sits onit - no poos or peeing at all though. he is getting better and when straining (bless him!) now answers if asked doing a poo. and has taken to grabbing his nappy and answering when doing a pee... so we'll get there - going to attempt GF 2 week training in the summer proper though.

well update on our building work..... after piercing a pipe with a nail on wednesday i think it was the ceiling underneath started bowing on friday afternoon! hasn't come down though which is a blessing. also not only has the varnish reacted with the paint, it's been getting progressivly worse in the rooms they have painted so they have to strip it all back again and repaint.... man i just wish they'd be done and out of our house! they've also managed to get paint on our marble hearth in addition to getting great black marks form the sanders all around the edges! hopefully can be fixed or it's a brand new fireplace they have to get us.

dh in cannes tonight and says he is going to try very hard to control himself tonight with booze so we'll see he has bought me an ipod nano already and i think is going to get me a lovely fancy new organiser from smythson too as my filofax is rather tatty!

anway, must away to monkey music

ps any thoughtds on 2nd birthday parties? i'm thinking of 8 others max and 2 hours between 10 and 12 with snacks at around 11? and just them free playing really - will put paddling pool up if it's nice but was thinking v low key, and a cake in the shape of a 2 with some decoration from me but nothing too fancy as i'm not great at it all!

thefortbuilder · 02/06/2008 18:03

and i got home to find the f'ing flooring guys had broken the mirrored door of one of our new armoires - delivery precisely 28 hours before they broke it! they are having to pay us the oney for it but it's more annoying that we had searched long and hard for it and it was ruined so quickly

all ok apart from that - got samuel's passport application accepted today and treated myself to a load of new underwear at intimissimi

Hi all, will catch up later. Hope all are surviving. Am back from my hols thank goodness. Have copied and pasted the following as too tired to retype.

Well, all was going OK on the day we arrived until I sat down with a glass of vino and the PIL rang with 'surprise, we are 5 miles up the road from you, came yesterday!' So my worst nightmare came true and we saw them 3 times, DH even invited them for a Bar B Q so I had to cater. DD1 at nearly 5 wet the bunk bed and due to limited washing facilities-not good especially in the early hours of the morning. Didn't get one good night's sleep with rain beating on the caravan roof and the 2 girls dropping their animals out of bed. Then to top it all off things are not good with DH's job-his dad wants to sell 50% of the company so DH will probably get booted out in the end. Also our petrol perks will have to stop. Doom and gloom here, it really is. DH is considering selling the caravan as we won't be able to afford to use it. Then he is considering putting our house up as equity for buying his dad out. I really need to get a one way ticket to Spain.

Love to all

Evening all

Have been very rubbish at keeping up with this thread again

Bloss - wow, what fantastic progress with T and the potty! Am very as Josh always says 'no' when you ask if he has had a poo (even though it is obvious he has) and deliberately runs away from the potty to have a wee on the floor somewhere before his bath.....grrr!

Twinkle - lovely to hear from you and yummy photos of Aiden (plus the scenery is just amazing - you lucky thing!)

Flick - check you out, buying new underwear - are you planning for TTC no.3??? Re birthday parties, I have taken the easy (but expensive option) of booking a party at a soft play centre. Tbh I can't face all the work involved in having it at ours. Howeveer, having worried that I would struggle to think up the necessary 8 children to invite that is the minimum, I now have the guest list upto 15 which is a bit more than I wanted but can't think who to leave out. So we are having that on the Sunday morning and then thinking of taking Josh to Thomasland at Drayton Manor for the day on his birthday.

As for favourite TV programmes - Josh is still absolutely obsessed with Thomas but seems to also have developed a thing for Fireman Sam aswell! I am just hoping that watching 'naughty Norman Price' doesn't give him ideas

Had a very vivid dream the other night that 'bump' was a boy - the same thing happened with Josh and that turned out to be correct so I am going with it for now! My 20-week scan is just before Josh's birthday so still quite a wait until we find out.

thefortbuilder · 02/06/2008 22:00

HC hugs to you xxxxxx

and no ceebee we are NOT TTC for number 3 - dh in cannes and quite obviously judging by his phone call just now all his good intentions re booze have gone out the f'ing window. i'm just so hacked off at the moment - he's just so blardy rude to me on the phone and accuses me of being horrible when i plainly wasn't - he just gets hypersensitive when he's drunk and then finished the call with "listen i'm going to call you back later as i have clients with me and since you can't give me the time of day when you have one of your friends over i'm not going to carry on this call". he called me FFS!!!!

not sure how much more of this i can take tbh - if he's not making a difference once he's back I don't really know what to do - he's not physically abusive or anything like that and i have 2 under 2. advice ladies????

TheGoddessBlossom · 03/06/2008 09:30

HC - Sorry you hols were so rubbish, and that DH's job looks precarious. Big hugs!

Flick - there is absolutely no point a) even attempting an argument when one party is pissed b) taking anything that is said during a drunken conversation to heart and c) trying to discuss things on the phone. Trust me I know. Maybe just a heart to heart with him when he is home about how you are feeling might do the trick? No point him buying you lods of presents if you are not happy with the way he speaks to you. Mind you I am no relationship expert

CB - Toby is doing great with the potty - did another wee in it this morning - but I have to put it in front of the telly, or read a book to him while he is sitting on it for him to be on it long enough to do anything. And it is very very early days, but I am proud of him.

Re parties - booked a Little Explorers nature walk for Harry's 4th birthday in September - up to 15 friends, but as they have to be 3 it means all the friends's littel siblings won't be able to come which is fine by me to be honest. It's really hard when you have to cater for double the number of kids because of the little brothers and sisters, but also I do know it may mean some can't come because it's 4 o clock on a weekday and childcare for the little ones may be tricky for some. i'll see how many it is a problem for and take a judgement nearer the time.

Probably do a family day out for Toby's second, Finkley Farm or something, weather dependent. H didn't have a 2nd birthday party as we had only just had Toby!

Day at home today. Just been swimming. Work is deadly dull at the moment. No one calls me back and no-one takes my calls. I am starting to get a complex.....

thefortbuilder · 03/06/2008 09:56

i know bloss - but he did actually call me back and apologise.

just think i am at the end of my tether with the flooring guys - there are supposed to be 4 of them here today and only 2 have turned up....

little kickers today so lets see how much jacob manages to ignore me in it and not take part - only does it with mummy...

also just had a call from a health centre asking what care we are receiving for samuel and teling me i have to see a HV!!! when i asked why she said because they are trained for birth to 5 - i restated that we are under the care of a paed background GP and that sam has been signed off by hospital and that i don't think we need to see one! poor woman got my frustration taken out on her a bit

RhinestoneCowgirl · 03/06/2008 20:02

HC - glad you survived the holiday, not such good news about DH's job - hope it works itself out. Is it a family business?

Non-work day tomorrow so hopefully meeting up with one of my best friends & her DD. Haven't seen them for a few weeks, so will be good to catch up.

flick - HV, what would you need with one of them then...

HumphreysCorner · 03/06/2008 20:06

flick-your DH seriously has some big issues that need sorting. I do think that in your situation I would have gone to live with my mum and dad for a short while. Don't know if that is possible for you? It may just give him the short, sharp shock he needs right now. {{hugs}}

Girls, have put on lots of pounds so feel full, full, full. Must start cutting down tomorrow. Emma is back at school and DH is back at work tomorrow. Apparently word has go out at DH's work about the possible 50% buy out. Fireworks could be expected. Nice to be back home. Hopefully the next trip will be more successful and PIL free!!!

Rhinestone-yes, it is a family business. Owned presently by FIL with DH and his sister working there with about 20 other staff. The other company wants 50% but haven't actually put a price on it yet so watch this space!

Ooooooooooh happy 23rd month birthday to our little angels!!! We celebrated Bella's birthday this month, as its the last month birthday! I felt a bit sad!

Just a little update. I will try to catch up posts, see how people are doing..or maybe you could give me a rundown of where your LOs are at, saving me reading months of posts

Bella is talking non stop, its gone nuts, she copies everything. I had to give DH my work email address again this morning and said it word for work, with Bella copying each bit pavlov (palov).dot (dot) cat (cat, meow) at (at) blah (bah) dot (dot) (com) (comma).!!! of course not actually my address and some long words in there which she tried so hard to pronounce. Was very amusing! She can talk in sentences, 'Bella do it' is her fave. She also understand ownership - its all hers. 'Bella's' 's'mine' 'nooooooo Bella's bath, no mummy daddy mummy bath, bella's baaaath {whilst taking trousers and nappy off!).

She is running, takes our hands and walks us places.

She can count to 3 with some understanding one.too.fwee. counting coins, rather than onetofwee JUMP!

She is NOT sleeping well. At all. She goes to bed, cries, cries, yells, cries, and well, thats about it until 10pm mostly. I say that, but this evening, she went to bed at 7:30pm, all ok and yesterday too , but the night before, she sat telling her bears off until 11pm. Maybe we broke the back of it, but I doubt it!

She is happy, confident (perhaps too confident, she frightens women and their babies in swimming pools by going up to them and trying to play - some people are so inhibited!). She is clever, of course! She laughs all the time, she is willful, independent, hates us doing things for her, has started tantrums, and is an absolute joy.

But hard work !

Tell me about your babies....the not so babies!

TheGoddessBlossom · 03/06/2008 20:43

Hey Pav!

Toby wants to be Harry. And have everything Harry has. And then when he has got that, he wants the other thing Harry has!

Toby is talking talking talking and also favours "Toby do it!" "And me" is another fave.

Toby loves his milk, his rabbit (oh boy does he love his rabbit) his blanket, his Mummy and his Daddy and Higgledy House. Toby gets up at 5.30am every morning to yell for milk and Higgledy House. I am SICK TO DEATH of Higgledy House.

He runs, he hits, he eats and he cuddles. "DUDDLE MUMMEEE DUDDLE!" Very very affectionate, which is fabulous 85% of the time...

He is so gorgeous he is making me want to go for Number 3, but I know in my heart of hearts it is a bad idea. Sigh.

Bloss

pavlovthecat · 03/06/2008 21:32

Aw bloss, he sounds fab! I love this age. I want No.2. Bella makes me want No.2 but I know it might not be as easy as she has been.

Dont you just love the cuddling? Bella does it when she wants to not do what it is we ask. Put down for bed 'cuddddaww, cuddddawww; with her hands out, doing the 'come here' sign with her hands! Its quite embarrassing in the supermarket, as she says it for 'pick me up' or 'get me out of here'. In the middle of the supermarket, she wants to get out of the trolley 'cuddaws mummy, cuddaws, CUDDAWS! Bella, I am shopping, I will give you 'cuddles' in a moment. WAIL. People staring at the very mean parents refusing their adoring daughter a cuddle. !!!

Twinklemegan · 03/06/2008 23:27

Hi Pavlov - nice to see you back.

I met Simon King today - got his autograph and everything! I'm so excited - it's the most exciting thing that's happened to me for ages - I'm like a teenage groupie. How SAD is that eh?!

Aidan is a little star Pav and he's loving the country life. He's going through a real mummy's boy phase at the moment which is lovely what with me being a WOHM. He's just started nursery for 1 1/2 days a week and seems to be getting on OK.

He's a still a real mix of introvert and extrovert. He goes to a toddler music group once a week and he really loves playing all the instruments (always first up to get stuff out) and watching the other children, but he really stiffens up with movement and dance things. He loves helping me in the garden as well - he's got his own little trowel and watering can.

He also understands the concept of ownership - he has for a while actually, clever boy. And I do think he gets numbers - fwee, fwee, fwee choo-choo (pointing to his poster of three trains). He's started putting together three word sentences - no mummy bus, for example when we drive past my usual bus stop.

We haven't started potty training. We do have a potty, but after the first flush of interest a couple of months back he now wants nothing to do with it. I'm hoping seeing the children at nursery use the potty might help a bit... Or perhaps we'll go straight for a toilet seat - dunno yet.

There I go, gushing again.

Hope you're OK Flick. You too HC (((hugs to you both))) xx

Who the hell is Simon King?

What the hell are goji berries?

I need to get out more.

pavlovthecat · 04/06/2008 11:48

Isn't Simon King the bloke with the huge glasses? DJ for like radio 2 or something?

Twinkle - your boy sounds great too! Gushes. This age, just perfect, but Bella has lost the babyness, and its a bit sad, but also very exciting. I noticed it truly this morning, although her girliness has been growing, but today was the WOW, baby has gone, little girl is here completely. A neighbour came out on the opposite side of the road, and she waved and shouted "HALLO" at them, no prompting. Then another neighbour came out of her house a few minutes later, and she walked right up to her, said hello and started talking....Car, mummy daddys no car (lady was standing by her car), points to her dress and shoes, both new. Beeewfuw dress, shoooes. New, Bella's. Then I tell her she has to come to me as we have to go to nursery and she says 'nursee, BYEE' and jumps to me, jumping on the gaps in the pavement (or trying too! going 'sgware all absent minded.

It was the first time she has jumped, although she has been trying to for ages, she has not grasped it properly, but today did it like she has always, just doing it as she walked along.

I almost cried!!! Neighbour gushed, I gushed. And I did not want her to go to nursery, I wanted to just scope her up and take her back indoors! {proud mummy emoticon}

Potty training - same as you twinkle - got one a while ago as she showed an interest in the toilet, mainly flushing when I was sat on it ! Then started taking her nappy off and asking to go. Thats where we are at now really. She sits on toilet and goes 'pssssssssss' then gets down and wipes herself! She has once said she needed to go, had no nappy on, and started to wee on floor, stopped and went to potty, wee'd next to it. But nothing since.

She much prefers to use her potty to put her bears and dolls to bed in. I do think she knows what its for, but she is not really interested yet either. She does tell us when she has poo'd sometimes. And other times we ask if she has poo'd and she says No, which means, 'yes but I am too busy to stop'! And she has this new ability to store her poo until 9pm, when she meant to be asleep, as a technique for staying up later, as she knows I cant ignore her when she has poo'd!!! clever

Gush Gush!

thefortbuilder · 04/06/2008 12:22

hi all - thanks for support HC and hope you are ok too - and thanks also everyone else!

yet more "discussions" read argument sin the flick household last night - it's just really taking its toll with the flooring guys - had it out with them on the phone today - they have damaged the new fireplace again and i had to tell them today that they can finish the job tomorrow take the rubbish and that's it, they're not getting any more money - as we have builders in today to sort out the ceiling...

am having to get a friend over as well as have the builder there tomorrow for when they come back as i suspect it will be rather frosty

anyway, jacob now being a little parrot and coming on so well with speech - although no sentences like so many others are!

not much else to report will try and post more photos soon

HC - lol, no Bill Oddie's down in Norfolk and I'm up in the Highlands. I was much more excited to meet Simon King anyway - Bill Oddie's really annoying. SK signed an autograph for Aidan - if A grows up interested in wildlife it'll be lovely for him.

Good news ladies-the company wanting to buy 50% of the company doesn't even have the cash! Why on earth do they show an interest??? Phewee!!!!

Hope all OK-Sophster is 2 in 22 days. Trying to buy a playhouse but everything is out of stock-doh!
