Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Lollypopzmummy · 07/04/2008 17:53

Evening all
I didn't bother posting over the past couple of days as no-one else seemed to be around to read anything lol ('cept ABmum and I could FB her!)

I've spent the whole weekend feeling stupidly lethargic and can't think why (no, definitely not pregnant before anyone asks!! ) So, despite having a couple of reeeeeally lazy sized lay-ins I've done almost nothing, the house doesn't look too bad but I know I've not done anything major to improve it's state (IYSWIM).
Lolly's tetthing properly now (I think ) she's ina bad mood this afternoon so DH has popped off to Tesco to get some dentinox (just in case, wont use it until she's red of cheek and crying properly, yeah that's right, I'm a hard-core mummy!! ).

Chattyhan good to see you again And thanks you've now put me off getting the coil (I was almost convinced but now seeing that you're in so much pain am just going to start poking DH again to get a vasectomy! )
Lolly's been playing with her dummy recently too, she's really got to grips with which way round it goes and can now tell by looking at it whether it's the right way round!

In ref to the weight loss thing I'm hoping to be on my way to getting rid of some of it Had a VEGAN breakfast of quinoa, soya milk and squashed prunes, and for lunch just had fruit (this is the first day that I've managed to eat next to no calories so hoping it's a good start), will be having eggs and beans for dinner (DH and DD1 will be having chips with their's but I'm going to give it a miss due to feeling so good about the day's intake so far and don't want to ruin it now!).
Am going swimming again on Wednesday (no tot's so my friend and I have arranged to take the LO's swimming, Lolly will probably go into the creche, or I might be brave and bring her in and restrict DD1 to the very shallow pool. . . ) but there's a big walk to the pool from town so that'll be good exercise too!

PLP I've just started giving Lolly crushed prunes and rusk and she's wolfing that down (and DD1 will have it for pudding too so it must be good, it's about time she started eating roughage, picky kid!) I guess it's a case of keep on trying with the roughage. . . Did you know that you should try foods a total of 13 times before you can be totally sure that a child doesn't like a certain taste. . . I only found this out a couple of weeks back, hence DD1 now eating prunes after months of not bothering to even offer them to her again! Just keep trying, I've cheated and used the tinned ones in grape juice (tesco ones), maybe just get some prune juice, also apple and pear is a big favourite for Lolly too. I'm not sure what else to suggest really. Just don't get too frustrated, she's still trying tastes and textures out so one minute she wont like something and then the next she will, it's also a case of what mood she's in, some days Lolly's quite adventurous and other's she's just in a lazy mood and will only eat rusk and milk!

Lisalesslumpy He sounds like he's had a bad day, moron! What a thing to say to someone who's training for a marathon "lose some weight" T*sser! for you, you should leave feedback/complaint at the surgery (they have a specific system here for it but you should just be able to write to the surgery management!) Insensitive twt
Funny how he jumped straight in with suggesting an MRI, is he on commission or something?! lol

Ooh ((goes off to find Dal's AIBU thread))

Lollypopzmummy · 07/04/2008 18:06

Ooh Dal you fell into the web, I was tempted to post on there y'day but decided (after typing it out) that it was best not to get involved! lol

There was another one about someone leaving a £2 tip and, personally I though she was just over-reacting about it all. . . I mean, should I now be asking every person that I give a tip to how much I should leave so that they're not offended that I've given too much (as opposed to being offended at being given too little?! ) I give up! You just can't win with people on here really.

I do seem to be finding the humouurous threads at the moment but loads of people don't seem to be in the spirit of things and shout "troll" when it's blatantly a joke. . .

I like them, they make me cry with laughter, like this one yesterday, I mean come on, it's a sunday and people are bored!
It made me absolutely cry with laughter, and DH found it funny too!!

dal21 · 07/04/2008 19:20

I did fall into the trap. I just see some threads and think grrr....that thread is out of order. These poor people are being slated by some coward who doesnt have the balls to say something to their face, but then comes on mnet to villify them, call them names and heaps of people jump on the bandwagon.....

what is that about? i tell you some threads on mnet really p*ss me off!

can you tell that it suckered me in today.

Arbensmum · 07/04/2008 19:26

When shoul dwe do our breast feeding thread Dal???

dal21 · 07/04/2008 19:35

LOL amum. do you know how many times i have thought that? we need to get hopey and kink in on it too.

how are you doing? how is arben sleeping?

Arbensmum · 07/04/2008 19:38

He is still not but i think i have got used to it now! He is cutting his 4th tooth so hopefully when it s done he will settle. Poor little thing has had 2 mths of teething! i thought there would be more break between the bottom and top ones

dal21 · 07/04/2008 19:41

well ryan was really out of sorts today, so i reckon something will be happening there. from 11am til 7pm he only napped for 20 mins and grizzled the rest of the day. heaven help us if mummy put him down or left the room. hence on laptop on mnet.

you sound a lot chirpier though.

so come on then. Next question. Who's planning the next one?

Arbensmum · 07/04/2008 19:47

Arben was like that yesterday, same thing, 20 mins sleep all day but he still woke up twice in the night. He is just not good at sleeping, i think i have come to terms with that now.
I am glad we have got the teething over and done with. I just hope we get a break between now and the next ones.
We aren't planning any more yet.Thinking of waiting til Ben is a yr old. Plus not much happening on the nooky front as i am finding it really painful still. Is really putting a strain on our relationship
I take it that you are strongly considering another soon then Dal???

sophus · 07/04/2008 20:32

hi all

PLP - if it helps this is Linus's routine, he also gets constipation so i have to keep the fluids up and the dried fruit going in.

i stew a load of dried fruit (prunes, apricots and pears) then whizz it up, pop it in the freezer in batches and add it to porridge or yogurt as and when he needs it.

He has:

7am: BF
9am: porridge + fruit made with milk and water
12.30: 2 course lunch
2.30: BF
5.30: supper + finger foods
7.15: BF

he also has access to a beaker of water at all times, so he probably has a beaker of water throughout the day - although a fair amount ends up on the cat/floor/him.
Have you tried giving Cerys milk at 2.30 instead of a snack?

AMum we're still having random nights, either he sleeps through or else he wakes and crawls around his cot for an hour.

We also have the snuffles right now, so he gets very bunged up.

Dal - i agree about some of the posts here, bonkers, truly bonkers - and often misjudged and ill-informed. And why can't people spell properly or use grammer? I am becoming middle-aged.

I had the in-laws here for the afternoon, as they left FIL said "have a great time in scotland". We are going to scotland next week, so it was a nice thought, except we are going to scatter mum's ashes in Loch Ness, so not exactly the most sensitive comment to make.

Ordered stairgates today - where oh where has the time gone?

Off to cambridge tomorrow for toy and me shopping and to meet up with my ex. (still best friends, and he's always much nicer to me than DP so it gets me a much needed ego boost that grumpy guts doesn't do)

xxx

Lollypopzmummy · 07/04/2008 21:48

Ooh what's this about a bf-ing thread? Sounds ominous!!

ABMum: you're still finding it physically painful? Have you had a physical check up?

Tried Lolly this evening with the strawberries/raspberries mix (with Dh on stand-by for trip to hospital) and . . . . nothing, so thinking it might've been either a) DD1 had a drink of milk and managed to flick a bit onto her face, or b) she got something in her eye (not sure about that but it's a reasonable explanation).
Will keep on taking it easy with that stuff but I've got a load of it in the freezer so she'll have to get through it sometime!

I've just realised that Lolly's getting through a heck of a lot more fluids than your babes are (and yet she's still a small baby at less than 15lb at last weighing), she's having over 30oz a day plus, at the moment, 2 regular meals (dinner is 2 courses) and sometimes has breakfast too! (Depending on just how late I'm getting up )
Anywho, off to randomly covet things on Ebay. . . .
xXx

PurpleLostPrincess · 07/04/2008 21:52

Awwww sophus, how insensitive of your FIL to comment like that! xxhugsxx

Thank you for outlining Linus's eating day for me - I think my confusion lies with having milk separate from mealtimes... I'm worried she won't be hungry enough if I let her have milk inbetween but I really think its worth me giving it a try... You'd think I'd know with her being my third lol! Will also try the fruit puree thingy myself - I know if I introduce something enough times she will take to it but I guess we were just exploring before.

I'm off to bed now - hope you all have a good night and thanks again xxxxxx

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 07/04/2008 22:15

LLL, DH suffered a similar strain to what you've been describing. If it helps, I'll try and describe the stretches his physio told him to do. Cross your leg (bad side) behind your other leg, then stretch away from the bad side - sliding your hand down the side of your leg. Does that make any sense. PS, what a tw*t that doctor was Dal, what a fab website you linked to, have bookmarked that one.

Kinki, want to send you a very big (((hug))). Have your boys noticed the problems between you and DH? I'm wondering if he has problems with respect etc, seeing as you said things seemed to go downhill a bit after you gave up work with DS1. He needs to understand that you are JUST as worthy as him (in fact more!) and that you deserve his respect. I really REALLY hope your week away helps things, hopefully you can have some good heart to hearts in teh evenings when the kids have gone to bed. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you lovely.

Sophus, oops re FIL's comment, pretty insensitive. How lovely to choose Loch Ness to scatter your Mum's ashes. How are you? x x

PLP, hi you, lovely to hear from you. Sorry to hear that Cerys has been suffering with constipation. Can I just suggest something? I remembered vaguely reading the contraindications on Niamh's Ranitidine and remember there being a mention of it causing constipation. Might be worth checking it out?

Chatty, nice to hear from you too. Doesn't sound like you're having much fun since having your coil fitted. Which one is it, the Mirena? I need to get something sorted and was thinking of the coil. Have you been back to the docs?

Dal, I must check out the thread you guys have been talking about on AIBU. I'm glad you've got your work contract through and you're pleased.

AMum, how EXCITING booking your holiday. Have you got your passports all sorted? We've got 3 to apply for before June, both DH and mine ran out last SUmmer, plus we need to do Niamh;s- now that's fun, getting the baby passport photo done I do hope that it's nothing serious with DH's Dad. Sorry to hear you're still sore. It did take a long time for me not to be sore after having DS1, have you tried using BioOil?

MrsBumblebee, any news on your sister's baby? [excited emoticon]

Lollipop, how's that tooth coming along, any sign yet?? Have been trying desperately to beat your score on facebook, bleeding eck woman you've set a high one!!! Even got the DC trying!! VERY good for their brains.

Welcome Lulabellx1 and Lausy

I've got the boys off for a couple of weeks. I bought some plaster of paris today because I'm going to make my own hand and foot casts of Niamh. They're SO expensive to buy the kits, but I figured that it looked fairly easy to do myself. Uh OH, Niamh has just woken up - doesn't sound happy, got to go x x

Lollypopzmummy · 07/04/2008 23:14

Ooh Hopey I've done DD1 & Lolly's casts recently, bought enough alginate and plaster for about 16 casts (only £20 in total inc p+p!!) in total from Ebay (wasted most of it trying to get it right) and am now thinking of doing it professionally if there's enough call for it here (got to put my name about a bit before knowing for sure though).
But I definately recommend DIY, just find a 3D box photo frame (quite hard to find actually!) and you're away! Just follow the instructions that come with it (they suggest using a sandwich bag, I tried to do them in a flat based tub first but it's so much better in a bag as you can move the alginate around and make sure it covers her foot evenly IYSWIM)

I've outdone myself on big brain now I don't think I'll be able to go any higher, am just really proud that I've outdone all of my friends so far!! (DH is actually quite low on the score board and is thinking it'd be better with a proper mouse, as opposed to the laptop mouse thing, IYKWIM, I say excuses excuses, if I can do it anyone should be able to )

Righty, I should go to bed, it's late and I'll just be cranky tomorrow (again lol)
xXx

PurpleLostPrincess · 08/04/2008 00:26

Hello all! Cerys woke up so I thought I'd pop in... Not sure if its her teeth or the fact that the kids had nicked her winnie pooh musical thingy (sound sensitive so goes off if she starts crying)... managed to find the batteries and get it sorted and I think she is settled again - sooo not used to her waking in the night! That video monitor thing is so rubbish - I only heard her because I came down to unplug the router so I could turn the sound up on it overnight

Hopeeeyyyyy!!! ((hugs)) You are so brilliant, you say all the things I mean to say but I'm never on here long enough in the daytime to say them! Very good point on the ranitidine, I'll check that one out, thank you my dear!

Yes, we've got the kids at home for two weeks too but have got a few bits planned to break it up. DS (14 in a few weeks time!! ) is doing some jobs on his grandparents house to earn money for his french school trip later in May. He's also looking for a job bless him, I feel so old but I'm only 31!!! I'm so proud of the way he has grown up [proud emoticon]. My dad has been ill and we're waiting to hear if its appendicitis or a kidney stone, either way he's in agony

The good news is that we're off to Wales for a long weekend to see DH's sister and her daughter - can't wait!!!! They're so so lovely and even though I've only been a few times they really are like proper family and we all feel so at home there. We won't get a holiday this year so we're going to make the most of it - DD1 already wants to take a walk on the welsh mountains bless her and she's not usually the 'active' type. Its a long but lovely story but I met his sister online a few months after we got married purely by accident - his dad died when he was in his teens and he hadn't seen her for about 15 years until two years ago when we all went there. Its like she's been my SIL forever!!! And her daughter is like my long lost close relative too, we're so close.

Anyway, I've rambled enough, I'm sure Cerys is settled now so I'll go back to bed.

Sleep tight!

PLP xxxx

dal21 · 08/04/2008 06:33

morning all

popping on quickly. will catch up later, but hopey here is a link to a fab website that I have just used to send off for ryans passport pic.

www.paspic.com

it is fab!

great to see you all posting on here again, so good to catch up on all your news. will be back on later. have fab days. my plants are being delivered today - really looking forward to seeing them in the garden. am officially old.

dal21 · 08/04/2008 07:40

Right am back. Ryan plays happily with his toys if i stick his toy box in front of him and let him pull them all out - get at least 20 mins of peace that way!

amum - not planning the next one. Yet. I really would like a little time not watching what I am eating and drinking. We are away in June and Aug also (Aug is just DH and I) - so would like to have fun and not think about it. Late nights, good clubs, booze, lie ins and shopping. Pregnant doesnt fit in with that picture. I think we will consider it around dec/ jan time. I will have been back at work for 4/5 months so will know how that is going and also Ryan will be at least 2 years old depending on how long it takes to fall pregnant. Re. the strain on your relationship - sorry if TMI, but I was really dry down there whilst bfeeding (and a little nervous), KY jelly and a little glass of champers did me the world of good. Have you tried that? Have you seen a doc? Is there a reason that physically it should still hurt or is it more emotional? Sorry if questions too personal, feel free to ignore.

Sophus - thanks for agreeing re the thread. Sorry to hear about your FIL comments. Not very sensitive at all. Hope the trip is ok for you.

Lolly - you dont want to know what the thread is. Tis us ladies being very naughty and knowing we could start a thread that would cause uproar. I for one dont have the nerve

PLP - have a fab long weekend. Hope little cerys loosens up soon.

Hopey - how are you feeling? Are you back to your lovely self after the PIL's?

oliviaelanasmum · 08/04/2008 07:54

Hi
I was on this thread when i found out i was pregnant but r.l kept me away but i'd like to come back if i can?
My dd3 Maisy-Rae was born on the 20.9.07 weighing 8'11.
She still doesn't sleep through, is she the only one??
She is starting to sit alone albeit very wobbly!!
Im pregnant again too and due october/november time so will definately have my hands full!

dal21 · 08/04/2008 08:00

welcome back olivia!

congrats on your pregnancy!! how are you feeling? so you're 2/3 months in??

oliviaelanasmum · 08/04/2008 08:06

Hi
Im feeling really well, have had no m.s or any symptoms just lack of perioids and loads of +ve tests!! I had no idea i was pregnant it was my mil who had a feeling that i was! Was bit to begin with but im happy now, we wanted a fourth but just not so quickly!

LisaLessLumpy · 08/04/2008 08:14

Hi there Olivia..

WOW number four on the way and so close to number three, you must be a supermum, no way would I be able to cope with that lot Good Luck and welcome

sophus · 08/04/2008 10:22

omigod i can't imagine being pregnant again. i have to get on and do something about it pretty soon but the thoguht fills me with utter dread. I think if i get MS as bad as last time we will get a nanny in for the duration as otherwise poor Linus is going to have to learn to change his own nappies.

Exhausted today, he woke every half hour from midnight until 3.30. Think there is going to be some screaming in this house tonight as i need him back sleeping properly - he's waking becuase he had two ngihts with me whilst he had the snuffles and now he just wants mummy becuase she is so cuddly and snuggly. And i know that if i do one night of being mean mummy he'll be back to sleeping through or near as the next night.

i would just like it if he would practice the art of consistency - it's so draining not having a clue what the night holds...

So OEmum, no you are not alone in having a non-sleeping baby - lots of us here have our sleeping trials and tribulations.

I am currently battling with getting Linus to sleep in his cot for naps, slwly improving. This morning only took 10 mins of crying and stroking until he went to sleep and he's been asleep for over 30 mins now. Whereas usually it takes 25 minutes of hysterics and we only get 20 mins of sleep. so perseverence does seem to be paying off.

sun seeme to be shining today.

have good days all

s
xx

Arbensmum · 08/04/2008 11:04

Morning all!!
Welcome to all the newbies. Olivia My ds doesn't sleep thru either, never has done and I suspect wont until he is 20
Dal - Ask away because someone may ask the right question to help IYSWIM. I have had the problem for about 4 yrs now. Just started one night, was a bit sporodic(?sp) to begin with but for the last couple years its every time. I saw people before I fell PG and they said it was something called Lichen Sclerosis, where the skin tightens but usually gets better after having a baby. Its suprising I managed to get pg at all. Since having Arben we have tried 3 times and it is as worse than ever. (TMI alert) If i try and stretch myself it hurts just by pushing on it with little pressure, there is something wrong there but nothing visible ie scaring etc.Have used all sorts of weird and wonderful potioons and lotions but to no aveil.
At first the pain was purely physical but now its both. It is soooo horrible as I dont even like having kisses and cuddles now because DH will want more and it scares me now. Which of course doesn't help as i dont get wet blah blah blah. It is just a bloody shitty place to be right now, i feel incredibly guilty and fustrated. But hey ho, have another appointment in a week or so, they want to do a biopsy so who knows.
Hopey - we got Arben passport at the beginning of the year so e are set to go. Not that his pic looks the like now as it was taken when he was 2 mths old!!!
Gotta go just now as need to put a sleepy buuba down for a nap.
Will catch up more later
xxxx thanks guys

oliviaelanasmum · 08/04/2008 11:18

lisalesslumpy Im not sure about being a supermum, im fairly organised which will help as it's like a militery operation getting dd1 and dd2 ready for school and nursery!
Maisy-Rae has her passport too, we took the girls to spain for christmas and we were planning to go again for christmas this year but we have booked for the beginning of June now due to the baby.
We are still awaiting Maisy-Rae's first tooth, she has bee teething for months but nothings coming through, dd2 had loads by this age and a full set before she was one so dp is panicking, he doesn't understand that they are all completely different!

Lollypopzmummy · 08/04/2008 12:20

OMG Dal that passpic site is brill, it's cheaper than doing it in a booth (in Woolies it was £5!!!!!!! ) have logged it in my faves (sorry for hijacking )
Heehee, I probably wouldn't get involved in anything bf related (I've seen fisty cuffs in there you know!!) just to be on the safe side. Still to get mine and DD1's done (not that we need to get them done immediately) as well as Lolly's, but not had any spare money to do it since DD1 was born!! My mum sent me a few cheques so we could pay for them xmas before last but told me not to send them off for 3 months as there was no money in her account, then for about 2 months I just forgot about them and then she said she had no money again, so that was blardy helpful eh?! lol

I remember you oliviaelanasmum . . . vaguely lol Welcome back and congratulations on the next one! Crikey that was quick!

Sorry you had a bad night sophus get tough with him and he's more than likely to settle again.

Anywho, off again, only popped on to check how you're all going today (am waiting for the freaking parcelforce guy to come and collect then we're taking the girl's to the soft play area again yup that's right, adults get in free!!!!! )
xXx
