LisaLessLumpy · 07/04/2008 10:56

I'm hoping its something simple Have an appt at 2.10 this afternoon, so we shall see

dal21 · 07/04/2008 11:02

Fingers crossed.

Meant to say - you seem to be doing so well with the weight loss! stick with it! we'll get there! are you doing weight watchers? or is that someone else?

lo up - off out after feeding time at the zoo, think i may belatedly buy a door bouncer for ryan. Think it will help strengthen his legs as he doesnt really support himself that much yet.

have fab days, lisa post later and let me know what your doc says.

LisaLessLumpy · 07/04/2008 11:05

I'm doing it on my own, my mum ran slimming clubs for 30 years so I know the calories in most things. Even if I joined somewhere I wouldn't follow their diet, I would just keep substituting my own things Will let you know what the doc says.

Chattyhan · 07/04/2008 11:33

Hello everyone and a special hello to the newcomers

I haven't been around for ages so sorry about that. It sounds like i've had the same cough/chest infection as hammerhead. Just finishing my antibiotics and no change so will be back to the docs again!!! I've had it for 6 weeks now and just feel grotty and have no motivation to do anything even chat to you guys

Just to top it all off i had a coil fitted a few weeks back and i'm suffering with the most horrendous period it's been 7 days and today is the heaviest yet. I just want to curl up in bed but ds1 and ds2 don't seem so enthusiastic.

age - 7 months yesterday
height - not sure but about average
weight - 17lb 3oz (2 weeks ago) compared to the worrying 13.6 at start of feb he's doing brill and is back up on the centile chart
sitting - yes with a few wobbles
rolling - front to back
movement - twists around in cot (180)and supports weight on legs if you hold him under his arms for balance and he will take a few steps.
sleeping - generally 7.15 to 4 then back to sleep until 7.30 but last night he had milk at 9pm and 3am!!! he generally doesn't drink his bedtime bottle.
teeth - not yet but i can see outines in his gums.
food - loves it. has 3 2-course meals a day. favs are petit filous, fruit puree, chicken jars
words - just raspberries and gurgles
favs - cuddly dumbo and his dummy (which he puts in himself) and his big bro

Chattyhan · 07/04/2008 11:44

don't start me on the weightloss issue have lost 5 lb since alex was born no matter what i do and still at least a stone to go. It was the same with ds1 couldn't lose any weight until he was 1 - i'm just hoping thats the case again

Hopey - i was so annoyed with your PIL after reading your post - thats just outrageous. I would have shamed FIL by saying you'd made it!

kinki - the misdiagnosis is awful i hope your boss helps - it must be awful with it being a collegue

hello plp, amyclaramum, mrsbumblebee, arbensmum, sophus, dal, lolly, lisa and anyone else...

PurpleLostPrincess · 07/04/2008 14:32

Hiya chatty, lovely to see you! Must arrange a get-together soon, sorry I've been so rubbish at keeping in touch. Sorry to hear you've been unwell, hope you manage to get some rest... xxhugsxx

kinki, really feel for you with everything thats been going on with dh. I know you won't read this for a while but hope you have a lovely time away. My DH used to pride himself on his personal hygeine/fashion etc when we were younger but now he is older, we have to really hassle him sometimes. He goes through phases of completely awful disgustingness to extremely clean and shaven - as far as I know its something to do with the depression. I totally know where you're coming from in terms of not doing stuff for him - I'm like that sometimes; why should I run around after him when I know I'll just end up resenting him for it!? (thats what goes through my head sometimes anyway!). Hope you enjoy having the bed to yourself!

Arbensmum, how exciting that you've booked your tickets!

Welcome Lausy and Lulabellx1! Lovely to have you with us and looking forward to sharing all our ups and downs together!

Ladies, I need to ask your advice as I've been going around in circles re feeding with Cerys! When she had bronchiolitis I took her off solids in order to maximise her fluid intake and it seemed to go OK but she was off her milk - realised that it was probably because I had changed her to follow-on milk so changed her back to normal and she was much better; then she started back on solids again. I thought it would loosen her up a bit as her constipation has been awful (consultant said she's not allowed to get constipated) but it didn't work. I've been giving her lots of fruit and trying to get fluids into her, other than milk but she's not too keen (with or without flavouring). Anyway, I spoke with her consultant the other day and she is now on loads of laxatives as the previous dosage didn't seem to be working. Here's an idea of what she's having each day...

7-8am: B'fast - few tbsps of dried baby b'fast made with her milk, couple of ounces of milk. [10ml lactulose, ranitidine]

11-12: Lunch - Small jar of savoury, small jar of fruity pudding (was previously giving her half jars but it wasn't enough!), couple of ounces of milk. [5ml lactulose, ranitidine]

2pm ish: Biscotti/finger snack of some sort with some boiled water, sometimes with a bit of flavouring (she'll take it then but I keep offering it with all other meals without success).

3-4pm: Dinner - same as lunch. [10ml lactulose, ranitidine]

6.30/7.30pm: Bedtime bottle - she will take 7 or 8 ounces then go off to bed.

From what I've read, she should be having about 20 ozs of milk at this age. I've never been one for being specific and she is generally a very happy baby who sleeps very well but I've realised she's not getting anywhere near that! Her appetite goes up and down and I'm not sure if the large appetite is normal and the lower appetite is her being off her food or if the lower one is normal and the bigger one is a growth spurt ifkwim...? I'm going round in circles now lol! She was keen on the powdered baby food which was good because I made it up with her formula milk but she's gone off it now. I do make her food from scratch too but she's not overly keen on it lol! I've trawled through the weaning section for ideas of what to give her now she's seven months and I'm about to embark on them too (and I've been giving her all sorts now she is allowed!).

I'm not sure what I'm asking here as I've got a bit carried away but any suggestions on routine would be gratefully received. Thing is, we don't eat until late so she doesn't really have the opportunity to eat with us which is annoying...!

I'm tired now lol! Sorry for such a mammoth post - I'll pop back later...

PLP xxxx

PurpleLostPrincess · 07/04/2008 14:34

Oh, and I weighed myself the other day at my parents and I'm a few pounds lighter than when I was first pg but I'm still a whale lol! I've decided to go back to line-dancing because I love it and I go with my SIL and MIL (from my previous marriage) and we're considering doing the race for life. LLL, you've got me wandering if my hips will take it after the SPD though as I do have really bad days with them - hope all goes well at the doctors... xxx

PurpleLostPrincess · 07/04/2008 15:03

Have just received my order of Ella's kitchen food as Cerys really love them and some of them have got prunes in which makes her go lol! (can't seem to get so many flavours in the shops so tried online). She loved the ones I've tried her with before, so hope these are a hit - will let you know!

LisaLessLumpy · 07/04/2008 15:04

Bloody stand in doctor horrible man. I can't wait for my doctor (woman) to get back from China, I appreciate her even more now. I went in all friendly like, asking him if he was standing in for my doctor etc, he never cracked a smile. I felt on edge as soon as I went in. He didn't ask me what was wrong, just waited silently until I spoke. Didn't really help at all, only advice he offered was that they could do an mri scan or ultrasound, but nhs wouldn't fund it, so would have to go private as it was only for peace of mind. Did a cursory check of movement on the couch, which didn't hurt at all, I told him I was just being cautious and that it was uncomfortable but not enough to take painkillers. I wanted some advice on my running, as to whether I could keep it up or not, he just said that it was likely a sprain, not to run the race this year and to lose some weight that's why I wanted to run you moron Aaarrrrgghh! can't put in to words how stupid he made me feel. Anyway I am still going to train but take it more slowly and see what happens. He didn't even suggest any exercises to do that might help. F**ker, he has made me angry. On the way out I told the receptionist that I didn't like him and she agreed with me.

dal21 · 07/04/2008 15:19

Oh MrsF.

My advice is to powerwalk and powerwalk uphill to start with. Stretch for at least 5 mins before setting off and then for at least 5 mins when back. I'll try and find the good stretches for the hip flex joint and post a link.

If you feel ok after that, then try alternating a light jog/ walking/ light jog/ walking....and again see how you feel...

If you find that stretching the hip flex helps, then also do it first thing in the morning and before you go to bed.

My shopping trip also didnt happen. All the roads were closed by the police, no idea what was going on.

PLP - was going to suggest prunes and prune juice. Not really sure what else to suggest.

dal21 · 07/04/2008 15:19

Lisa even. no idea why used mrsf. auto response i think

PurpleLostPrincess · 07/04/2008 15:20

{shock] LLL at your doctor!!! How awful - is it worth seeing another doctor and while you're there, commenting on how he made you feel? Makes me so that he treated you like that! I think you're right to continue training but take it slowly and see how you go... xxhugsxx

LisaLessLumpy · 07/04/2008 15:20

Thanks Dal, I am also going to do more on my cross trainer too

LisaLessLumpy · 07/04/2008 15:22

PLP - he is only covering for a few days a week, hip is feeling much better today so I am going to see how I go. If it becomes too uncomfortable after my next session I will see another doctor. Like I say it isn't painful enough to warrant painkillers its just uncomfortable and not quite right iyswim

dal21 · 07/04/2008 15:41

{{http://www.workoutz.com/exercise/lunging_hip_flexor_stretch this stretch}} may help.

dal21 · 07/04/2008 15:41

www.workoutz.com/exercise/lunging_hip_flexor_stretch this even.

Lausy · 07/04/2008 15:43

Hi PLP,

Not sure if this advice is useful re: getting more fluids into your little one but why don't you try giving her a dream feed and 10/11 pm at night (you could even try the Hipp Organic Good Night Milk), just feed her whilst she's asleep and that way she might be more inclined to drink?

Hope this helps...

dal21 · 07/04/2008 15:50

i am having a great time on an AIBU thread. Think I am about to get lynched. Will post again if i survive. May need to come lick my wounds on this nice and kind thread.

LisaLessLumpy · 07/04/2008 15:52

which one?

LisaLessLumpy · 07/04/2008 15:55

Ah, found you, its to far gone for me to step in now, your on your own sorry

dal21 · 07/04/2008 15:58

oh i'm fine. don't you worry.

cadelaide · 07/04/2008 16:04

just popped in to say......great thread title!

PurpleLostPrincess · 07/04/2008 16:12

Dal, have read through and I do agree with you but not sure how to word it amidst all the discussions lol! Rest assured you have backup but like you say, you're holding your own there!

Hello cadelaide! Are you from a neighbouring thread or might you be joining us? I have a friend from California called Adelaide so I noticed your name...

Cerys just gobbled down a whole pouch of Ella's 'Butternut Squash, Carrot, Apple & Prune' and she loved it! Didn't want any fruit yoghurt or milk afterwards, has gone straight to sleep... She's been so tired lately but won't sleep as per usual. I fully expected her to sleep less in the day at this age but didn't expect the tiredness - I think its all linked to the teething as her cheeks have been bright red for a few days now - can't wait for this bloomin' tooth to come through!

dal21 · 07/04/2008 16:25

dont worry. am still alive.

Arbensmum · 07/04/2008 17:39

Just thought i would update my stats as I had Arben weighed today
weight - 21lbs 1oz @ 30 wks
