Edie, From memory, I think the 'rule' is that a child must be walking unaided for 6 weeks before they are fitted with proper shoes. You can get pre walker type shoes, like pram shoes I guess.

HTH

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 04/06/2008 12:20

Hey FIO great to hear from you, was thinking about you the other day. How are things?

EdieMcredie · 04/06/2008 17:13

Thanks girls, we went for it in the end, she has a pair of 'cruisers' which are for, well, cruising!! They are soft and so will not hurt her feet but will give her extra support for when she is walking. She finds them strange as she has never worn anything on her feet before, not even booties, but she seems to like them and they have improved her walking already...£20 though...

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 04/06/2008 21:03

Edie, cruisers, that's funny , glad they're doing the trick.

I texted kinki earlier and she's hoping to get on and post soon.

COME ON KINKI COME ON KINKI we yuv you and miss you!!!!!

It was DS2's 9th birthday today. He had a fab day as he got to play his new Wii the whole time after school. He had his best friend round too. I made a birthday cake, must be ill or somethign! Can't believe he's nine already. He did really well, he saved his pocked money for months and months, well since last yr, and stumped up half the cost of the Wii, SO proud of him. My goodness, DS1 12 this yr!!!! Believe me girlies, TIME GOES SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FAST! Treasure EVERY moment!

Shut up now Hopey!!

EdieMcredie · 07/06/2008 11:18

Oh my gosh Amy does she know what she is letting herself in for???? She is a brave lady

Hopey-Hope Niamh gets well soon!!

Hello to everyone-is the weather pants where you are?!

Millie had her first settling in period at nursery yesterday and LOVED it!! We stayed with her for about 10 minutes and then the staff suggested we have a cup of tea in reception, but said we could look through the window to see her at any time so thats what we did-we left her for just half an hour but it looked like we could have left her for longer TBH. She played with the other children so well and the staff made comment on how 'confident' she is. Next week we are going shopping and leaving her for 2 hours, I know she will adore it...

Im feeling very proud of myself as just made her a home cooked beef cassarole with fresh herbs

What is everyone up to today??!! We are probably just chilling in the house as it is pouring outside and seems so cosy indoors!!

Lollypopzmummy · 07/06/2008 17:42

Edie Good one getting Millie into a nursery, it'll give you so much more freedom, the best I get round here is a creche session whilst I'm doing my driving lesson .

The weather here is lovely and I've actually managed to get a load of veggies into the ground so finger's crossed they survive (I'm sure this summer will be "the hottest since records began". . . would be just typical, my first year's crop would die just when we need it to survive!).

Anywhoop, am sat watching come dine with me and am drooling, I'm now in the mood for chocolate.
xXx

EdieMcredie · 07/06/2008 19:47

Don't know about freedom, but will be doing a 14 hr shift in a psychiatric unit so more £££.

So about the weather with you Lolly-it's awful here. Apparently going to be nice tomorrow but will believe it when I see it xx

Lollypopzmummy · 08/06/2008 22:49

Oh such a beautiful day yet again, it's bound to be horrible during the week though, leaving me cooped up in the house again. . .

So, how's everyone else doing? Hope your weekends were nice, I've got a stinking headache and a whole day ahead of sorting washing and deciding whether to spend time ironing or finishing my skirt for the ball. . .
xXx

elefantshoes · 10/06/2008 11:39

Hello evryone!
I have had a fab few days, enjoying the sun we bought a paddling pool for Beni and my neice and nephew on Sunday - they all had a ball in it. We even got the baby from next door over to add to the splashing!!!! Had a lovely BBQ whilst watching the football, oooooh i love the summer. long may it last.
Yesterday i spent the day with a fellow mumsnetter with a bottle of wine and cheese cake followed by a walk in the park, bliss!Edie - how ill you cope with such long shifts. i used to do them pre baby but dont think i could do it now!! I am just going back to 8 hr shifts. How is Millie's eye?
Lolly - I have always wanted to do a proper veggie patch, i love going out to the garden at my in laws in albania and see al the stuff they have growing, its fab. How is you ball gown coming along?
hopey - Hello!! How is DH doing? I do hope he is feeling more positive. How is Niamh's bottom, cleared up yet?
Big hellos to evryone else PLP, Dal, ACmum, Fiofio, MrsB, LLL, Sophus.

I have popped a couple of pics on profile.
Take care
Ele

EdieMcredie · 10/06/2008 15:12

Hello Ele

Im just going to do a 14hr shift every Fri and an 8hr shift on a Sat or Sun.

If it's too much I will knock the Sat/Sun shift on the head-My DP has started a new job and is doubling his income so money might be ok...I hope!!!

Hellooooo to everyone xxxxx

Lollypopzmummy · 11/06/2008 15:33

Hello Ele the corset is all finished and ready to go, tried the whole outfit on last night (just got to hem the skirt and take it in a bit more) and it looks amazing, Dh is surprisingly good at lacing corsets despite the fact that they're not really his cup of tea. . . married the wrong gal there then didn't he?! lol

Will post pics as soon as I can.
xXx

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 11/06/2008 17:40

Afternoon all, gone a bit quiet here again!

Lolly, looking forward to seeing the pics, you've been working v hard on your dress!

Edie, where has the time gone, back at work already!!

Elefent, nice to hear from you, Niamh LOADS better thanks. DH seems a bit better too, he's thinking of doing another marathon in October. He's currently in the air on his way to Finland. Away for my birthday again , although to be fair to him, he did tell his employer he wasn't going to go because of missing my birthday last yr also, but I said he should go because it'll probably be frowned upon.

How;s everyone else, kinki still waiting for you to post, I may have to nag you by text!! But seriously, if you're reading this, we're all thinking of you. x

PLP, how're you doing, still busy over on facebook, I may have a pop over and see what you're up to!

Lollypopzmummy · 12/06/2008 16:52

Well, it happened I've actually finished the whole outfit, by accident!
Had to take the zip out of the skirt as it's a little stiff and could do with a longer one and taking in at the back but then realised that, once I'd taken the zip out I wouldn't need to put another one in as it's got a lovely long satin ribbon and that can be used to tie around to the front and bow, so it's completely adjustable and wont even need taking in (might have a to put a little popper in on the gap at the back but it overlaps so if I don't it's not like my bum will be on show at all!)

My "date" for the ball came round today and tried to convince me that I should 'hawk my hair and he'd do the same but then again we're hoping to go to the Stones after the ball for the Solstice so maybe not the best idea if I'm going to have to wear it like that all night long and then come home at silly O'clock the next morning. . .

All I need to do now is get my make-up sorted and I'll be all set!
Soooooooooooo can't wait!!
