Lollypopzmummy · 12/05/2008 11:18

Edie I'm online every day any way so it's no problem. I'm sure they wont be that silly, I used to ask really silly questions. . . you know which way round a needle goes right?!

Well, I'm looking forward to this week, I've got nothing planned and have just phoned DD1's pre-school and cancelled her sessions until September, so I can use the money to take her swimming twice a week instead, I'm sure she'd enjoy that more and she'll still be able to have her afternoon naps and I wont have to deal with a cranky 2 year old for the evening!

I think today I shall concentrate on the washing then I've got the whole week to bimble through and do whatever takes my fancy, should be nice!
Righty, I'm off to wash clothes and hang on the line (I've got to get used to that, it's very odd and I'm not liking the fact that I'll have to iron everything now )

EdieMcredie · 13/05/2008 10:55

Thanks Lolly-yes I know the basice like how to thread a needle and bobbin etc.

Did you have a nice day yesterday? Im having a lazy one today...

Got a painful boob so have posted in b/feeding for some advice...

Lollypopzmummy · 13/05/2008 13:41

Ah yes, my day was lovely thank you. This morning I've done all the ironing and am very proud that I've managed not to launch DD1 across the room (several times! "Are you finished yet? Can we go outside now? Where's Lucy gone? I'm hungry. I'm thirsty. is it lunch time yet? Is that a bird? Mummy, come and look at this. What's this on my finger, mummy?" "NO, I'M NOT! NO, WE CAN'T! SHE'S ASLEEP! YOU'VE JUST FINISHED BREAKFAST, YOU CAN'T BE HUNGRY! HERE'S SOME JUICE! I'M BUSY, WHAT IS IT? (it was an ant on the carpet!) IT'S A BOGEY, THERE'S A TISSUE ON THE TABLE, WIPE IT ON THERE! (she wipes it on the table " )

I'm taking five to chill out before proceeding to put the next lot of washing on the line and get the girl's outside, whilst I attempt, yet again, to dig the garden. . .

How's everyone else coping in the heat? It's not been too bad here today, there's a lovely breeze

Anywhoop, got to go, Lolly wants lunch
xXx

EdieMcredie · 13/05/2008 20:46

Ha ha Lolly that does sounds slightly frustrating! Are you on FB by any chance?

Millie's tooth is going to make an appearance soon I think-she has a tiny hole in her gum and you can even see the white of it through.

It's quiet in here at the moment...

Hope everyone and LO's are well xxx

PurpleLostPrincess · 14/05/2008 01:20

Hello all!

I don't get on the computer much these days now that DH has sold his (the laptop is now upstairs so harder to surf!). Thought I'd catch up with you lovely ladies!

Cerys has got two teeth now and enjoys munching even more so. We've had a few grizzly days lately though - not sure if she's just not a fan of the heat or if we've got more teeth on the way!? I've taken her off the ranitidine so I'm beginning to wander if its something to do with that. We're seeing the GP soon so I'll find out from him...

The suppositories seem to be working well so far still. The notes say they have to be administered in the morning but she generally doesn't poo till the afternoon so I might just do it in the afternoon so its more natural for her. I forgot to tell you before that the first one was hilarious - they're wrapped in foil and I had no idea how slippery they were. I opened it and it flew across the room and down the back of a set of drawers lol! We only got 5 and the prescription says we have to see the GP for a repeat (to see how we're getting on I suppose) so we've only got 4, hence the trip to the GP in the next day or two lol!

I feel so much happier when the weather is like this - we've been in the garden most of the time lately!

Edie - so glad Millie's tooth is nearly through, Busy bees sounds great!

Lolly - hope the garden is going well - DH was digging today too!

Hopey - we had no end of problems with Talktalk so I truly empathise with you!!! They're truly awful and their customer services are ten times worse grrrrr. How are you doing?

kinki - hope you're coping OK hun, thinking of you xxhugsxx

Would really love to try and get to a meet up if you're arranging another one? I really wish I could have come last time - let me know if you're doing it again, preettty pleeeaassee!!!!

Hello to ACM, LLL, Dal, Bumblebee, and everybody else, hope all is well with you xxxx

Lollypopzmummy · 14/05/2008 13:23

Hello PLP, glad to hear you're enjoying the weather too We're loving it at the moment, although it's actually been to hot the past few days for me to carry on with the digging, but I'm going to sort lunch and get out there this afternoon as there's such a lovely breeze

Lollypopzmummy · 14/05/2008 13:24

xXx

PurpleLostPrincess · 19/05/2008 07:47

Heeellllloooooooooooo!!!!!!

Yes, it is a bit tumbleweedy around here isn't it!!!!

Just wondered how much milk your lo's are taking? Cerys has had this cough/cold thing for a week now and her appetite is still down. I'm offering her around 16ozs per day but she's only taking about 10 at the most We're going to the doctors this evening to have her chest checked but I thought I'd get an idea from you of what you're doing...

Oh my goodness, DH and DS are arguing over what to have in DS's lunch etc - better go split them up !!!! Will pop back later... xxxxx

Lollypopzmummy · 19/05/2008 12:55

PLP: Lolly's having about 28oz a day now, but the dietician said even that was excessive (and considering she's not exactly a large baby I'm still wondering why she's not gained a lot of weight ).
I wouldn't worry too much about her appetite going down if she's been poorly, that usually happens (sometimes even when they're not poorly, just to keep you on your toes! ).

Lolly had her 8 month check up on Tuesday, she's now got to start on stage 2 food (little bits) and finger foods. . . bring on the mess!!
HV keeps suggesting buying soya yoghurts for her, despite the fact that she's the one that's issued the food bank vouchers in the past, she obviously doesn't understand what the meaning of "poverty stricken" is! Wer'e more used to buying DD1 Tesco value yoghurts twice a month is she's lucky!!

Crikey! Just realised the time, I'm meant to be in the garden, just haven't had the chance yet! Have been so busy keeping the kids entertained I haven't had a chance to even look at the clock! And now it's nearly lunch time (I've been waiting for the bread to bake) I'm probably not going to get out there until 2:30 now! Ho-hum, no-one tell DH

Have got driving lesson tomorrow. . . will have to get up early and make sure everything's sorted before I get the girl's up this time! Just get them fed and out the door, much easier that way, I might even get everything ready this evening, will see how it goes (it's not like I don't do enough in the evenings!).
Off now, see you all later! Hope you're all having a good day.
xXx

EdieMcredie · 19/05/2008 13:35

Hi Lolly and PLP...

PLP-Millie is having about 20ounces I think-although that is approx as she is breastfed so no measurements I can do-I know she has 4 feeds a day and I think she has 5 ounces each time because if I pump the length of her feed that about how much I get...

Lolly-Hope tomorrow runs more smoothly than when you last had your test!! Must get my sewing machine out-I want to make a playmat now!!

We have done BLW with Millie so she eats solids all the time-except for her porridge and the odd stage two jar of Hipp organic when we are busy...

Hope everyone is well, how are you Kinki???

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

EdieMcredie · 19/05/2008 13:36

Lolly-I meant lesson not test!!!

Lollypopzmummy · 19/05/2008 23:20

Edie: Like proper solid food already? Wow! I'm not that clued up on BLW, should read into it.
Made a gorgeous curry this evening for our tea and, after she had rejected the first lot of dinner that I made for her from yesterday's leftovers of couscous and squash, thought I'd try Lolly on that, she didn't like it cos of the lumps so, meal number three, tried rusk mixed with the curry sauce (made from scratch BTW, no salt, mostly coconut milk and a bit of spices etc) she decided that she didn't like that either! So, for the third time today, she was left eating fruit, as I had nothing else ready for her and it was 8 O'clock and I was not going to start cooking again!!
So am going to give in and have to buy some stage 2 Hipp tomorrow (if they have any without milk products in the range at Tesco ).

I've been a busy bunny this eve making a quick pair of wings for my BF's hen night, I'm going to be an evil butterfly/Faery, four coathangers and two pairs of tights and they're practically done! (Although, now I'm on the computer, DH has taken over for me! ).

MrsBumblebee · 20/05/2008 08:22

Paul has around 15oz of milk now, I guess, plus a couple more ounces in his porridge. I think the recommendation is that they should have at least 18oz a day, but sometimes I really struggle to get that down him. I think the advice is that if your LO isn't keen on milk anymore, you should make extra efforts to include plenty of dairy products in their diet.

Edie, I saw you on that other thread a few days ago, and I was so impressed by you saying that Millie usually has whatever you're having for dinner. I keep planning to do this, but everything we eat seems unsuitable either because of content (e.g. sausages) or format (e.g. lamb chops). Though yesterday I finally made the effort, and Paul wolfed down maple syrup and mustard glazed salmon with pesto mash and purple sprouting broccoli! Do you find you're adjusting your diet so that Millie can eat it, or am I just not being adventurous enough in what I'll give Paul?

We're doing pretty well here. Paul's been miserable for a week or so with his top two teeth, but I think we're over the worst now. He's pulling himself up to standing a bit more reliably now, but still hasn't managed to crawl despite weeks of trying. He doesn't really like being on his tummy that much, so he gets fed up after a few minutes and doesn't get enough practice. As for me, I'm just counting down the days until we go to Paris next week - two and a half days of baby-free bliss !

Lollypopzmummy · 20/05/2008 21:06

Well, I tried Lolly on some proper food today (in the sense that I just squashed it a bit rather than putting it in the processor), it was cod/potato/peas/sweetcorn and she didn't like it one bit (although she happily munched on pieces of banana earlier ), I shall find my way to the BLW thread and get some tips, methinks!
Any tips?
xXx

EdieMcredie · 20/05/2008 22:15

MrsBumbleBee

You did fab!! Don't be impressed by me-BLW is the lazy option trust me. Tip wise I would say:

1 Relax about them gagging, it's normal

2 Try to give things that are easy to hold

3 Rememeber that at this stage solids are just for fun. They are getting nearly all of their nutrition from milk so if it looks as though they are not getting much, don't worry, it's far healthier for them to build a good relationship with their food by playing with it and mushing it up/placing in hair etc!

I haven't adjusted what I eat although don't give her stuff with lots of salt in, obv.

It's really good fun and much easier!!

Lollypopzmummy · 21/05/2008 13:54

Edie: Thanks for posting the tips, my HV had me worried as she said that they should be getting all their nutrition from solid foods by now ( I did at this comment as it clashed with the HV advice I was given with DD1. . .)

EdieMcredie · 22/05/2008 11:36

That's crap. Sorry. HV shouldn't be giving such incorrect information. You should make a complaint. If you weren't so well-informed that would be very dangerous advice. Babies under one get almost all of their nutrition from milk, breast or formula. That's not to say it isn't important that they get healthy solid food of course, but at this age they are not mature enough to be digesting it very well anyway. Some babies do well at not even being weaned until they are about a year IIRC.

Kellymom suggets two solid meals a day max at this age I think (Ill have to check that so don't quote me!!)

EdieMcredie · 22/05/2008 11:39

Just checked and yes that is what it says. Millie has 3 meals sometimes, but more often than not just has breakfast and tea since I read that.

Lollypopzmummy · 22/05/2008 15:30

That's what I thought, how strange, she's usually such a good HV too, maybe she's been misinformed (they get all sorts of conflicting information nowadays from "medical experts", most of the reliable info comes from parents )

Ho-hum, at least I didn't go and get all stressed over it and start to worry that I'm under-feeding my child or anything! lol

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 25/05/2008 21:22

PurpleLostPrincess · 26/05/2008 00:01

I'm here! Yes, how is everybody? I know I don't post much these days but I'm always thinking of you lovely ladies. I often find myself thinking "I must ask them about... or what their lo's are doing with... or how they're managing to..." but I don't get the chance to ask lol!

Cerys has had a bad cough/cold AGAIN! This one has gone on for two weeks and we're entering into the third week now. She was up a few nights in the week with temperatures of 39.1 and 39.5 !!! So, we went to the doctors AGAIN and she's now on antibiotics and also has an inhaler - great! The poor little thing hates taking her medicines but she does it reluctantly. If I squirt too quickly, she gags and often vomits so we have to be careful. She's been off her food and seems to be even more against her milk. I've tried different teats, a beaker, splitting the teats etc but nothing seems to be working. I'm thinking of ringing the hv if things don't improve when she gets a bit better as it could just be where she's ill.

Has anybody tried the doidy cup yet? Cerys is doing really well with it! It all stemmed from her wanting to drink our cups of tea - she's got a real thing for it (anybody in our house with a mug of tea has to watch out!). So, we got the doidy cup and she loves it - she has her own cup of tea with us in the morning! (with our help of course!)

She's really getting around the house in the walker now and is learning what 'no' means - the expressions we receive in response are priceless as its a whole new world to her!

Well, I'd better get on - Joshua's going to France for the week with school and I'm doing the last few bits for him. I purposefully backed off so he'd perhaps learn how to get himself organised without 'mummy' peering over his shoulder. But being a 14 year old boy, he soon came running lol! I'll really miss him He gets back on Friday though. I'm so proud of him , he's like a best friend! I remember all to clearly when he was the same age as Cerys - he was almost walking and had been crawling from 4 months - just goes to show how different they all are really!

Well, I'll stop babbling for now. Hope you're all doing OK ladies and that all the lo's are behaving themselves lol!

((((((((((hugs))))))))))))
