sarahmikeharryandrosie, Yes, I saw that ours shared a birthday. DS2 was air-lifted out by c-section at 11:23am. And he's called Harry, like your DS1 (if your user name is a cunning clue).

We just registered him. Have you officially called your Harry Henry on the certificate? We have, but I had to spend hours explaining to DH that Harry was "short" for Henry.

Can't believe your in-laws tell you to lose weight! OMG. If they go on like that tomorrow, say, "Yes I do need to lose weight, so it was very thoughtful of you to prepare such revolting food. I can't bear to eat any of this muck and am bound to lose 5lbs. Thanks so much!"

BEAUTlFUL · 30/03/2008 00:05

Thanks for the welcomes everyone.

Gill79 · 30/03/2008 10:12

Right -missed the defintion of dream feed in the extract from baby whisperer thanks for the definition though.

Also "Egg pics" means "nice pics Egg - Malcolm does that one handed salute too". Just forgot to add the rest of the words

Let's hope I'm a bit brighter today. LO was awake at 7am so we've done the prescribed feed and play and back to sleep. Found a new distraction -he loves watching me dance. Can anyone recommend a good dancey exercise DVD? Could kill two birds with one stone.

BEAUTlFUL · 30/03/2008 12:22

My baby SMILED today! First time. I think it's all down to you lot - after reading your posts here about constipated babies, and the all-night squirming/unsettled sleep, etc, I realised that he probably had that. He was pooing over every 2 days, and sleeping all day, crying a lot when awake, etc.

But after reading your posts here, I went and bought Aptimil Easy Digest which is meant to give them runnier poos. Voila! This AM he did the biggest poo you've ever seen, and is now happy, smiling and awake! DH, though, who changed the nappy, is now jibbering in a corner, rocking, chanting, "Such things I have seen..."

princessllama · 30/03/2008 12:23

gill, we had that grunting thing all night long last night and i was thinking of you storming out of bed in frustration when it happened to you the other night. obviously we had the who's the most tired argument at 4am-infuriating obviously i am! men, honestly. desperate to get a sleep now but waiting for lunch to be ready.
saskia my friends found out on the friday about the hernia and were diagnosed by the gp that day and rushed to chelsea and westminster because that's where one of the specialists is. apparently everything was too swolen to operate on then so they had to wait til the tuesday for the op. he's doing really well now.
right must have lunch.
hi beautiful.

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 30/03/2008 13:13

Beautiful- you have made me grin re- inlaws!!!- would you like to come for dinner!!!!lol

Yes Ds 1 is Harry- on his birth certifcate- but a few people ask if he is Henry- (i like both but DH wanted Harry) -its a fab name and it really suits his cheeky face!!!!

Sorry my imagination was not fab when i chosemy name!lol

Had ok night here- although DD was up at 3AM for a feed whcih has not happened for a fair while- (i know i am lucky)so she must be having a growth spurt!!!

DH and i had a very spontaneous session!!lol last night!!! was dreading the first attempt after 2nd baby but must say all went very well- but wish i had got more sleep!!!- sorry but thought you might all like to know!!!heehee

Have a great day everyone!!!!

BEAUTlFUL · 30/03/2008 13:34

Yay! Congrats on the shag!! You're my hero. I'm still waaay too scared, but I did think tonight might be the night, so I had a beauty-shower and shaved my legs, etc, this morning. My DH is a grumpy man lately, he needs a boff.

I love the name Harry too. Everyone says, "Aww, lovely" when I tell them what he's called.

I think your user name is nice -- mine is horrifically arrogant and completely inappropriate!

BEAUTlFUL · 30/03/2008 13:37

princessllama, I'm completely empathising about the "men, honestly" comment! Do you think it's hormonal that we go off them a bit after having a baby? Or are they just really annoying?!

Is he making your lunch for you? That beats my DH. I don't think he'd know how to make a glass of water.

leesmum · 30/03/2008 13:58

Beautiful they are annoying all the time (well most of it)

Sarah well done on having a bit of "adult playtime" me and Dp had a go about a month ago, i think i just wanted it over and done with but now i have no excuse really, i just can't be arsed

Gill i can't imagine you have that much weight to lose, you didn't look that big when you were pregnant, unlike me who is struggling with the last stone.

I'm starting a weight loss list if anyone wants to join me, i'm gonna put my details below and anyone who wants to ge involved can add their details and each week we can have a weigh-in and help each other,

here we go..

Feb 08 Step away from the Easter Eggs!!
Leesmum 10st 4oz target 9st 4oz

samsmam · 30/03/2008 15:24

Hi all,
Feeling a bit . Has anyone been breastfeeding and given up then felt very guilty about it? I just couldn't keep it going with DD1 at 18 months she is just demanding so much time from me and trying to feed was too much, where did I go wrong? I done 4 weeks and everyone keeps saying you did well to get that far. I just miss it too. someone tell me to get a grip!

samsmam · 30/03/2008 15:25

Can I just add- 'men, honestly' too- arghhhhh!!

leesmum · 30/03/2008 15:47

Samsmam you have done really well to get to 4 weeks, i don't think anyone gives bf up lightly and i have had days and especially nights where i could have easily reached for a bottle please don't beat yourself up about it only you know whats best for your children xxx

BEAUTlFUL · 30/03/2008 17:47

Samsmam - I gave up bf after just a week. I didn't even have a good excuse - with my DS1 it was terrible, very hard to get him latched on and he used to cry for hours so I gave up after 3 weeks. With this one, DS2, I already had it in my head that "bf is hard" so I tried very half-heartedly. It actually went quite well, so I have no excuse at all for quitting. At least you passed over a lot of immunities.

Have you read about relactation? I was looking into it, and it said that if you'd bf regularly for a month, it would be relatively easy to restart. Also, it's easiest to restart bf if your baby is under 4 months old. It does involve a LOT of pumping to get it going again, from what I could see, but isn't impossible. There's loads about it on here.

I tried expressing the other day to get it going again, but it really hurt. pumping when no milk is coming out is v painful.

BEAUTlFUL · 30/03/2008 17:50

Leesmum -- your present weight is my ideal weight! I'm 12 stone 9 at the moment . I'm in for losing weight.

BEAUTlFUL · 30/03/2008 17:52

God, look at me, I've got mad posting on here.

cosima · 30/03/2008 18:06

leesmum, isaac has been chewing vigorously at his fists since week two. i thought it was hunger but he's put on 4 lbs in six weeks so i don't think so. maybe comfort sucking? my ds has jaws of a rotweiller

Jo9977 · 30/03/2008 19:27

samsmam - you've done fantastically!! There are so many pros and cons between the two and I reckon it's a pretty even contest, especially after 4 weeks when you've got some really good stuff into them. I couldn't breastfeed and I REFUSE to feel guilty (even though I was convinced I would be earth mother and have no problems with it ) - just concentrate on the fact you are less stressed and tired!

Beautiful - I love your style!!!!! I second leesmum - yes, they are really annoying!!! How many couples HAVEN'T had the 'who's more tired' argument???

However, DH made me laugh today - he was reading to Daniel from a lift-up-flap-book and (I have this on video) couldn't figure out how to 'work' one of the pages...reckon LO will overtake him in IQ stakes at, oh, around six months!!

CountTo10 · 30/03/2008 20:13

leesmum - will join you on the weight loss but I need to find a pair of scales first definitely looking to lose just under a stone I think though and shape up my belly!!!

ds2 started sucking his fists a week or so ago. it's quite good cause if his dummy comes out he tends to suck his hand/fingers and then that settles him back to sleep.

DP is not in the good books today. He went to his cousins last night for what he told me was 'a couple of hours to play darts and watch match of the day - not long' and turned up at gone 3am (new time) pissed as anything!!! I was not happy cause its meant that he's not wanted to do anything today and has been asleep on and off. I've had to do everything with the boys as well as cook etc. So I am now officially on strike!!!!! There's a nice pile of washing up in the kitchen and I shall be eating my meals with ds1 now. Plus all the washing is going to the launderette on a service wash as I'm buggered if I'm doing it all!!! Hurrah for me!!!!

CountTo10 · 30/03/2008 20:17

Grrrr and is now irritating me further by snoring on the sofa whilst I'm trying to watch The Lost Boys!!!

Egg · 30/03/2008 20:18

samsmam I felt like that with DS1 when I gave up finally after 4 months, even though it had been a struggle for the first few weeks it had more or less settled down, (although still had a hole in one nipple that never healed and DS1 used to feed for 2 hours at a time), but I had just had enough, summer was coming, I wanted to wear strappy tops, I had a wedding to go to in a couple of weeks and didn't want to have to wear something I could easily breastfeed in etc etc, all selfish reasons, but as soon as I had given the last breast feed I started to regret it. However within a week I knew I had made the right decision for me.

This time I was a bit like BEAUTIFUL (hello Beaut... and welcome to our gang). I knew it had not been easy with DS1 so was a bit half hearted with my efforts with the DTs. If I had really tried it might have worked but to be honest bottle feeding is the reason I am surviving baby twins and a toddler!

Anyway, hope everyone enjoyed an hour less in bed . All my DCs seemed to know the clocks had changed and so woke up by 7am NEW TIME (ie 6am). Am off to bed in a mo. Had a lovely time this afternoon though out in the park with DS1 at the swings and had the DTs in the buggy. Was so nice and sunny and made me feel all happy .

As for weight loss... well I was really chuffed as I was back to pre-preg weight when I got home from hospital, but have put on about 4lbs in the last month or so due to excess choc eating so am adding myself to the list:-

Feb 08 Step away from the Easter Eggs!!
Leesmum 10st 4lbs target 9st 4lbs
Egg 8st 7lbs target 8st 3lbs

Ok I know it's not much, but my gut is all wobbly and horrible and something needs to be done. Leesmum I have changed your oz to lbs btw .

Right, off to bed now as have blooming unwelcome guests tomorrow (distant family who are "in the area" and want to come and see the babies) so will not get the relaxed day I look forward to when DS1 is at nursery.

Egg · 30/03/2008 20:20

Countto10 I would be v v peed off with my DH if he even TRIED to do that. Don't mind if he goes out, but he still has to get up and do his share the next day. Fact is he rarely goes out so I am LUCKY .

CountTo10 · 30/03/2008 20:31

Samsmum, I'm giving up soon. It sounds awful but we've got a hell of a lot coming up in May and it will be too much to express and not fair on ds2 to bo from bf straight to bottle in a day type thing so in a week or so we are going to begin weaning him off. I only bf very little with ds1 and felt really guilty about it and I wished I hadn't cause it spoilt my time. Try not to beat yourself up about it as a baby needs a mum not a boob and you're doing a fab job just being you!!

CountTo10 · 30/03/2008 20:32

Thing is egg, dp makes me feel like I'm making a mountain out of a molehill and can't see the problem - it was just round someones house for a few drinks, what's the issue!! I'm fed up with explaining cause it's not the first time recently. Sigh, what do I do though!!

BEAUTlFUL · 30/03/2008 20:56

Egg -- hang on, have I got this right... You had twins and left the hospital weighing your pre-pregnancy weight? AND that weight was just over 8 stone?

Why wasn't I born you?

BEAUTlFUL · 30/03/2008 21:01
