Icecream was fab thanks leesmum I managed to go for a mile run/walk when DH came home so not feeling too guilty about it!

Sally I know what you mean about needing all your pillows when bf when you're out I am always so uncomfortable

Off to the cinema with DS at 10 then his first water babies session this afternoon I'm really excited, I bought him a cute wetsuit

beansprout · 08/04/2008 09:52

Alkar - what are you going to see? (and where are you off to?)

Poblet - how are you getting on?

OK here, lots of walking planned for today and am going to meet a friend from work for lunch so a good day planned. She is vegan so we always have something reet healthy. I'm veggie anyway but I steer away from the cheese when I am with her. We used to eat endless pots of humous for lunch when we worked together!

leesmum · 08/04/2008 10:47

Beansprout i have just got back from a long walk with Ds2 after dropping Ds1 off at nursery, i had to get a move on though because it's just started snowing again!!

On the subject of cinemas, Dp and i were debating wether Ds1 (3.6yrs) would sit through a film and enjoy it, i don't think he would yet but you never know have any of you with children the same age took them to the pictures yet and did they enjoy it?

BTW i don't know if this means much but like some of you who are bf and your lo's are going days without a poo, i've had weetabix the last 2 mornings and lo and behold we had 2 poo's yesterday and 1 already today, thank god i was getting fed up with seeing Ds2 squirm around a lot, so i will have to keep eating the weetabix to see if it's helping.

Bessie123 · 08/04/2008 11:05

Oh, it's been so long. So many posts...

Just popping in to say hi - I hope everyone is still enjoying their babies. My dd has started laughing - it is so cute.

Catch you all soon (I will read the whole thread soon, honest)

Bessie x

Added myself to list. I had my first weigh in at Weightwatchers last night so now on the road to weightloss!! It was actually quite nice although dp helpfully pointed out I weigh almost as much as him!!! Cheeky bugger. I have to say that it feels quite liberating. It's the first time I will be losing weight in a healthy way having had problems in the past. i won't have scales in the house so I will only know what weight loss I've had each week when I go which I think is the best way.

Gingermumi - I'm really sorry things aren't the best with your dd, especially that there doesn't seem to be the support out there. I was really lucky that I we had some good services here but I wouldn't have got through it without counselling (and have had further since) as it really helped me to get to the root of the problems which often you think you know but actually you don't!! Is there a reason why she won't try it? I think the problem is ads are ok but can often mask the problems underneath which simply return when you stop taking them. Plus they are not a good mix with alcohol!! I have had relapses in the past and its taken a long time to find new coping mechanisms etc other than starvation and your dd should try and think of counselling as a tool rather than a stigma. Try and keep an eye on web useage as well - there are some horrendous websites out there at the moment that actually promote eds and whilst I don't want to worry you, they will look like support but actually they are just there to offer new ways of hiding them and of losing weight etc. I really hope she chooses the safe option.

So, ds1 jumping on me at the moment - will be back later!!!

Lucyand2 · 08/04/2008 11:22

Gil79 - yey, wish I was as brave as you! Still haven't done it and I'm shocked as my AF seems to be arriving. I didn't have one for a year last time so I'm really confused. Better get the contraception sorted out, don't a BFP! My tummy is also very weird, kind of dry and odd looking as it hangs out in a pouch under my belly button.

DD1 in bed having a nap, for some reason she has turned into tantrum child again now DD2 is actually interested in the world around her. DD2 has also managed to sleep 6 hours in a row for the last 2 nights which is amazing, now I just need to get her into her cot so I can sprawl out. I keep waking up huddled up to DP whilst DD2 has my entire side of the bed. She also manages to get to me across the bed despite being unable to move

alkar · 08/04/2008 13:16

Back from the cinema now, watched 27 dresses was OK, its nice to have a couple of hours of rest as DS is always quiet in there he has a feed stares around then sleeps.

We have been on poo watch quite a lot here. DS went 4 days without one then 1 yesterday and 2 already today. Hope he's done for the day and doesn't decide to go when we are swimming

mutha2beagain · 08/04/2008 14:47

Alkar I went to see 27 dresses last week and the whole audience was female .... strange!

Just had a lovely "date" with DH, DS1 in holiday football club and left LO with my mum to meet DH in town for lunch followed by a quick view of the Russian art exhibition at the Royal Academy. Beautiful day outside and looked longingly at some lovely shops but resisted the urge to spend. Phew..

Rozzy and others in the post Csection club, my belly is weirdly numb also... does the sensation ever come back? Also scar looks quite livid sometimes and skin is v wobbly .. I've got a horrible feeling no amount of ab crunches is going to revert it back ... not that it was that great after DS1 was born...

Miss DSs so am off to pick them up now..how soppy am I?

gingermumi · 08/04/2008 19:41

Mutha v envious of going to exhibition, haven't done anything like that for ages.

Count- thanks for being so candid and sharing your experiences. dd2 is ok (ish) atm but i'm sure it's the ads. I do think part of the issue re counselling is related to stigma, even if no-one ever knew she would still feel there is a stigma there. When she refused to eat i did check web sites she visited and they to be more about eds rather than pro sites from what i could tell. It is defiitely linked to her emotional state as each time she rows with new boyfriend she stops eating for day or so. We are due to see gp again soon, i know it's just putting off the inevitable but i hope she doesn't stop the ads yet.

Ds has had a bad day today, crying and refusing to feed, not sure but i think he had colic, in the end afetr gripe water and tummy rubs he did feed but then refused the boob but still seemed hungry so i gave him a bottle, which he wolfed down. Am shattered, forgot how wearing a tetchy baby can be!

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 08/04/2008 21:38

Hi ladies- hope all well-

Need some help- i havebroken the cot-

i took base and matress out and lent over to grab a box of toys and must have put too much pressure on the side of the cot and the clip(which drops the side has snapped off- the other one was already broken so now nothing hold it up- where can i get replacement clips? (its a mothercare cot and will try them)

Feel so stupid now completely forgot the side can be lowered-Ds had fixed sides!

Don't know whether i posted this but i went back to the docs yesterday and had the implant fitted into my arm- did not hurt(local anastehic(sp) first so area was numb- only took a few mins and i am happy with my decision- it was tender last night and area very bruised today but all well- so no more babies for me at least for the next 3 years- provided i have no probs and i am not the 1 /100 woman who can fall preg- lol

going to be now

speak to you all tomorrow-

good night
xxx

CountTo10 · 08/04/2008 21:56

On the whole contraception thing - anyone considering the coil or had the coil? I was thnking about it as I really don't want anything hormonal and wondered what peoples experiences were? Might have a look at the archives....

Now, I'm not one to complain about babies sleeping, but does anyone else's baby sleep that deeply that they don't actually look like they're breathing??? It's frightening the life out of me. With ds1 you could always see his chest rising but with ds2 he's almost motionless and I have to gently knock the cot so that he actually moves. Thing is its worse now that he's in his own room cause, great, he's sleeping so much nicer now at night and goes from 7-4 which is absolutely fantastic but I lay awake wondering why I can't hear him desperately afraid to go in there almost!! This is my second for heaven sake I should be more relaxed!!!!!

alkar · 09/04/2008 09:16

Same here count, sometimes DS can sleep so quietly and be so still I have to put my hand on his chest to see if its moving!

Did you manage to get anywhere with mothercare Sarah? No advice here, DS sleeps in a travel cot at the moment waiting until he extension is finished to put him in a proper cot in his own room.

Going to baby clinic today to see what he weighs now then off to meet some work friends for lunch - I'm loving maternity leave

Lucyand2 · 09/04/2008 09:42

Sarah - Mothercare are great for that kind of thing, my Mum picked up a secondhand mothercare cot for me which was missing one tiny (but typically important) part. She took the matching part in and they ordered it in for us & posted it out to us. She had to pay but it was worth it!
I broke the cot not long ago and felt terrible, luckily DP managed to fix it. Just wish DD2 would sleep in it now she's sleeping 10-4 each night!

rozzyraspberry · 09/04/2008 11:27

Count - I'm probably going to go with the coil too. After being on the pill since I was 18 I don't really want anything hormonal either. My gp said the new coil is really good so I just have to get round to making an appointment at the family planning clinic to get it sorted out.

Sarah - we were missing the clip for the drop down when we got the cot out for ds3. DH screwed it in so the side is fixed rather than drop down now - we never used the drop down side with the other 2 anyway.

DH out for a walk with the boys so I'd better get on!!

beansprout · 09/04/2008 20:14

Where is everyone?!!

Long day with both boys today. Took them to the heath, to the library, local museum etc etc on the basis that being out was better than being at home. Tiring though.

How is everyone else?

Gill79 · 09/04/2008 22:00

Count - we have a sensor monitor in LO's cot which has an alarm which goes off after 20 seconds of no movement / breathing. We got the tommy tippee one for £54. Ok there have been a couple of false alarms but after the first one which we did find a bit upsetting when he was only a week old they don't scare us as it just goes off very briefly and he is clearly fine -just put it down to "technical problems".

Some people might not like it but it's definitely right for us - it gives us so much reassurance - when I wake up in the night I can just look for the green flashing light which shows his breathing rather than lying there trying to listen for it. The alarm works over the monitor too.

Well today was a bit of a disaster food-wise - chocolate cheesecake for breakfast, thai green soup, lasagne and chocolate mousse for lunch and a huge portion of chicken fajitas followed by toffee meringue roulade for dinner Tomorrow is another day though. Was definitely going to start doing some abdom exercises this week and have yet to do one....

Gill79 · 09/04/2008 22:03

Bean it is quiet isn't it? What a lovely day we had in London though.... been working in the garden and laps of the hill in Finsbury Park pushing pram. None of which will make up for the excesses detailed above!

beansprout · 09/04/2008 22:05

I've been scoffing a bit today too. I'll be lucky to stay at the same weight this week, let alone lose any...

CountTo10 · 10/04/2008 10:05

It's the nice weather - everyone's off doing things!!! I'm stuck in at the mo waiting for my tesco shopping!!! First couple of days of diet not too bad. Saved a few points for a great big bowl of chicken noodles last night whilst out at the cinema!! Went to see step up 2 - any dance fans out there need to see it, film itself is basic but the choreography and dance are absolutely amazing!!
Gill - we've got one and hooked it all up now. We'd not used it in our room so thought well if we've survived this far we could try without it but no way now. Especially as it took me to actually move him to get him to stir!!
Anyone else with 3 year olds already had a letter through for pre-school booster? DS1 is only 3.5, and should have one next week, just thought it was a little bit early.

And is there any sign of Tyaca???? Just getting a little concerned.

beansprout · 10/04/2008 10:45

No pre-school boosters here. Gulp. It's bad enough having an unwitting baby jabbed, the thought of taking ds1 with him understanding what is happening is a whole new level.

Huge thanks to the v wise person on here who said that babies need to sleep after being up for a couple of hours - has really, really helped me. Ds2 has just got himself to sleep for a nap. Neither of my sons have ever done this before!!! Am very proud of him! (Sad, I know!)

I should go out, just feels like such a faff today. A day of staying in isn't going to do me any good though.... you watch, I will still be posting on here at lunchtime!!

CountTo10 · 10/04/2008 10:49

I keep dragging the boys out and about and the other day ds1 turned round and said please may we just stay at home today!! Bless him we stayed in for the morning and he played so nicely!!

Hello ladies. How is everyone today. Hope Mr Tesco is nice and young and handsome, not a craggy old one.

DS1 at nursery today . Am struggling keeping DTs to a routine now. They feed about 4am and then don't want their first feed of day at 7:30am. Shows they don't NEED the night feed, as they have now basically dropped the 7:30am feed instead (both had 20ml today) and then fed again at 10:30am, so in theory they are having one feed less, just dropping the wrong bloody one! Urgh. Both asleep now.

Got to go and get on exercise bike. Had a baaaaad day also yesterday, finished off with moussaka, chocolate eclair and beer last night . I was 8st 11 this morning! That's 5lbs more than on Monday .

mutha2beagain · 10/04/2008 11:34

Hi everyone,

Despite the gorgeous sunshine I'm holed up indoors with a stinking cold - think LO gave me his, just hope I don't pass it onto anyone..DH very kindly took DS1 to his holiday club this morning so did not get dressed until now and watched the Apprentice this morning which I sky plussed last night as was in bed at 8.

I've managed to lose 3lbs now by judicious food consumption and no booze. However we're going up to the inlaws on the weekend and all we do is sit around eating and drinking G&Ts so I expect all the good work will come unstuck.

Not sure what happened with LOs feeding this morning, had to give him an extra bottle - he fed at 5am then 8am and then just now 4oz each time. Got him weighed yesterday and he's now 11lb 10oz, a full pound heavier than his older brother was at the same age. Hopefully he'll have a big long sleep now and then feed again at 2. We shall see..
