ChocolateHobnob · 06/05/2008 17:41

Well done Ben! how is he?

Alicet, how was work?? and how was Adam?

It's hot here and I stupidly went for a walk - facing that way DD was shaded, but of course coming back she was in the sun. Doh. Didn't have parasol or sun cream. Bad parent alert... anyway she's fine. Wont lie down at all, will only sit now, so little chance of crawling ever happening...

alicet · 06/05/2008 19:00

Thanks for asking Choc! Work was OK. Only OK and I felt like a bit of a medical student as I had to ask about pretty much EVERYTHING but my confidence grew during the day. Off tomorrow then have a 24 hour on call to contend with on Thurs...

Needless to say Adam was absolutely fine without me!

If anyone is looking for a good sunshade check out this- the best sunshade ever an dcan be attached to any pushchair with a sunhood. And car seats. The best I found!

Anyway off to cook tea now - may be back later....

LisaLessLumpy · 06/05/2008 19:15

Choc - he is still coughing and for the second day running has puked up his tea still only had 14 ounces again today, he flat refuses to have any more, I'm just going to have to let it ride and hope he gets better again soon.

J2O · 06/05/2008 22:27

hi all, sorry i haven't been around, i've had so much to do lately, Shannons been really whiney and wont be put down, think her (non)teeth are bothering her.

sorry for those with colds and poorly lo's, its exhausting isn't it. lisa-hopw Ben is better by tommorrow.

Alice-glad you got back into it, bummer going back though! have you missed it?

not much news from here, shanon wont lay down either, she pulled herself up from laying down in her pram today, better remember the straps then!

choc-bad parenting??? wait till you hear this! we had another accident yesterday, my friend has one of those high chair booster seat things that go on dining room chairs that we put her in, i sat down to eat my tea, heard a crash and she'd only gone and put her feet on the table and pushed herself off, toppling the chair backwards and smacking her head on the floor, possibly on the radiator on the way down! her head was red on the back and she had a bruise on the side, but she was giggling within minutes so i just kept an eye on her all night, the awful thing is, i thought twice about taking her to hospital because of SS being involved last time, how bad is that! of course if i thought she needed to go i would have taken her but i wonder how many people dont.

oh i've just had a bit of a nightmare, the cat got dd1s hamster, i managed to grab it before it got completely mangled and then it only went and jumped in the washing up bowl, full of water, have put it in its cage, hopefully it'll still be alive and have dried out in morning.

coffee date went ok, he was lovely, brought me flowers, but way too nice for me!

i'm off to spain for the weekend, another hen night, only booked it last week, kind of invited myself so if i don't get back on this week, will be on on Mon, hope you all have a great week xxxx

AnyasMum07 · 07/05/2008 09:14

Am so disorganised. It's a friend's birthday today and I've not got round to getting her anything - wasn't in a rush as not expecting to see her for a few days. She's just texted me to say she's got the day off work so I've had to offer to meet up this afternoon, so have to cross fingers and hope I can find a present after baby group before we meet up .

Alice - glad first day back wasn't too bad.

LLL - hope Ben is better soon.

J2O - hope Shannon is feeling better. Sounds like she wasn't too traumatised by pushing her chair over. They're little monkeys arent' they? I've lost count of the number of times Anya's bumped her head on our coffee table (it's quite low) - never seems to bother her though. Hope the hamster survives! Enjoy your weekend.

Enjoy the sunshine everybody!

Mine · 07/05/2008 11:30

J20 i chuckled at your story! only as it seems dd was fine.
They'll have tons of little accidents as they grow up so its good to laugh at them sometimes.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sun, who knows how long it will last, so make the most of it.
We're off for a picnic in the park soon!

J2O have a lovely time in Spain! Pmsl at the hamster - hope it's still alive! Glad Shannon's OK - can't believe she managed to push the whole chair over! Don't mess with her!!

Anyasmum hope you manage to find your friend a pressie - I'm just like this!!

Inzi hello - good tohave you back!

Hello mine, lisa and everyone else...

We have had a lovely morning in the park - beats the shit out of a day at work Both boys no sleeping so trying to chill out a bit. We have a few bits and pieces we need to do this afternoon but will probably go back to the park as it's such a lovely day. Nightmare trying to keep the sun off Adam in the double buggy though - Sam hates having the hood up so I don't think I will manage to attach any other type of sunshade on without a major rebellion! Just trying to be content with slathering on the sun cream at the mo but will have to find a creative solution! Maybe a parasol on the side or something....

Ben was 7 months old on monday, he is sitting up well now, will do 10 mins quite happily. He has got an awful cough though and keeps making himself sick, he has also gone right off his milk, I am struggling to get 14 ounces down him atm. His skin has also flared up, I'm gonna book him into the docs tomorrow I think. It seems as if he is teething but I can't feel any hard lumps yet!

My friend had a little girl last night, 11 days late, she went in yesterday morning to be induced but at 9.25 last night she had her first proper contraction and Emie was born at 11.04, she did it on gas and air only nice and quick labour though I feel sorry for Sam and Ben though, apart from one friend who has a boy who live too far away to see too often, everyone else I know have girls. I am organising Sam's 3rd b'day atm, there are 3 boys coming and about 10 girls My hope for another boy now turns to another friend who is due in July

Hope you are all enjoying the weather, it seems like it as it has been quiet on here the last few days I am still waiting for the boys to wake up, I have been up since 6am, typical

AnyasMum07 · 08/05/2008 07:22

Aha! Friend cancelled as her cat went missing (it's an old house cat and doesn't get out much). Turned up again after 5 hours. Which was plenty of time for me to find a present for her .

Inzi - hellloooooo! Hope your laptop holds out this time. Hurrah for teeth!

Alice - enjoy another day in the park. Hope you don't get called out to work .

We will be out in the garden again today. Anya was really funny outside yesterday - she was in a very cross mood - not crying, just shouting aggressively at everything - me, the grass, next door's bunnies... would love to know what goes on inside her brain .

Dalrymps · 08/05/2008 09:05

Morning everyone!
Lovely and sunny here .
Alice glad your first day back at work wasn't too bad
J20 - Glad Shannon is ok, the little gymnastic! Hope you have a great time in Spain.
Anyasmum - that was good you managed to get the present, thanks to the dissapearing cat!
LLL- great Ben's sitting up a lot now, hope his cough and his skin clear up soon.
Mine - hope you enjoyed your picnic, you have inspired me, might go to the beach today when dh finishes work
inzi - helloooooooooooooooo! So glad you're back! Hope the laptop holds up this time, what you been up to? Wow 2 front teeth, was there much upset when they came through? How's she been?
Choc - I keep going out with Dylan facing the wrong way in the buggy too, thankfully though the seat turns round so I have to lift it out with him in it to trn it round - not the easiest or safest of tasks but it works
Well, not much happening here, gonna see if Dylan wants some breakfast, keeping a food diary at the moment for the hv, can't see the point in it though seen as though I know what he eats and have told her what he eats .
Hello everyone I haven't mentioned. Catch ya soon

yourlonglostpal · 08/05/2008 18:18

Evening all

Hooray for the lovely weather! and for me having two hands free to type cos Huw is asleep in his pram.

Hope you're all doing ok.

j20 - glad Shannon's ok after her little adventure. Hope you have fun away (already can't remember where you're going ). And don't be so down on yourself about the coffee date guy, girlfriend!! Course he's not too good for you. He might not be right for you, but that's a different question.

alice - sorry to hear work was only middling. Hope being on call didn't involve too much rushing round answering calls iyswim. Are you part-time now, I can't remember? I was originally meant to be going back to work this week too. Can't believe how quickly it's come around. I still haven't heard back about going part-time.

Hi again Inzi. Stay back this time!

Seems like loads of our LOs have the same symptoms. Huw, too, is full of snot, red-cheeked, coughing like he smokes 40 a day. I wonder if it is to do with teething?

Oh 'eck - he's woken up.

Waves to everyone!!

FloriaTosca · 09/05/2008 09:54

HI ALL!!!!!!!!!!
I'm back!!!
South Africa was wonderful; the least restful but most exciting holiday I have ever had. We flew Manchester-frankfurt-jo?burg-durban (Lufthansa are brilliant!) had a day sighteeing Durban (Ushaka water park/aquarium was fab), then did the wedding (fabulous day), then another day sighteeing then on the Monday flew to Capetown, went up table mountain, ate at the restaurant between the atlantic and Indian oceans at Cape Point/Cape of Good Hope (sadly didn?t spot any whales but Alex loved the ostriches walking down the road), toured the Stellenbosch wine district, on theThurs we flew back to Durban, met up with the newly weds who had been honeymooning in the Kruger and we all went to stay in a private game reserve by the big Hluhluwe and Imfalozi national game parks?the domas we stayed in were gorgeous (a sort of round white painted thatched cottage)overlooking the lake; we had Eland , Warthogs, Deiker and Kudu walking past our veranda as we sat on the couch, knocking back wine and watching in the evening with the frogs and crickets serenading us and billions of stars shone down?.bliss? and in the big game reserve we saw rhino and zebra, giraffe, waterbuffalo, countless herds of different antelope and were treated to the sight of two young bull elephants fighting just yards from the track we were on. We also went to St Lucia and went out on a boat to watch the hippos and crocs? It was amazing?even getting a snake squatting between the cushions of our couch was fascinating! (The ranger removed it for us) I was truly sorry to leave such a gorgeous country (South African Airways were dreadful in comparison to Lufthansa). Alex was an absolute star,(the journey took 22hrs door to door getting there and 25hrs getting back and he took it all in his stride!) everyone out there fell in love with him (it is a Very child friendly place) and of course he now is a veteran long haul flyer! ... and during our holiday he has learned to cruise round a travel cot! (well around half a travel cot before falling over) and say a very distinct ?momee?(but only when crying with teething trouble)....I'll try to post his pic (wearing my new bush hat) whilst cruising, on my profile.

I've had a quick scan through;
Alicet; congrats on becoming an auntie, I love the names (they were on our list for Alex as they are the names of dhs and my paternal granddads)
Anyasmum;great news about Anyas growth and scan dates and the addition of fingerfoods..hope the work situation works out to your advantage.
J20; Alex has been using a "totseat" cloth babychair while we were away and so nearly did the same as Shannon on at least 3 occasions, fortunately for us there were lots of people around to catch him...I?m glad she is ok?.and despite the near misses I?d still recommend the totseat to anyone needing a portable babychair it was fab.
LLL; hope Ben is feeling better soon. Congrats to your friend.
Dal; at the HVs for you.
Crotchet; glad the exam went well, hope the visit to the lll counsellor brought you relief.
Muppet;glad the mil was finally appreciative of your abilities.

bother cant remember more...

Hi to everyone else [waves madly]

FT - welcome back! Sounds like you had an amazing time - and well done to Alex for being a little star.

Inzi - wow at Jane! Clever girl!

Well Anya's put on 10oz in 2 weeks - that's very good for her - not surprised as she's been eating loads - 30-35oz milk plus she's properly eating finger food 3 times a day! She's even started waking up in the night for an extra feed . Maybe she's building up to some big development hurdle - crawling maybe?

She made me laugh lots this morning. She rolled over this morning to the CD/DVD unit we have and found the stack of free DVDs that we've collected (you know the ones in cardboard sleeves that you get with newspapers? Usually rubbish ones). She took them out one at a time and examined each one very closely before discarding it, then after doing that with a few she started pulling a handful out, shuffling them on the floor, growling at them and peering back in the unit to see what others were there before pulling another handful out. I'd have been more impressed if she'd put them all back again. In alphabetical order.

Ah, she wakes. Have a good day all.
x

Dalrymps · 09/05/2008 21:37

Floria - sounds like you had an amazing holiday, very indeed, although not sure about the snake and !
Well Dylan has been named 'grumblina' today as all he has done is moan and grumble all day, he grumbled all round aldi and then he 'shouted' all the way round morrisons. Eventually dh had to take him out of the trolly seat and hold him, then he did a big burb and fell asleep in his arms. So we thought ahh he was just tired and windy but no, he carried on the shouting when he woke and until bedtime [frazzled emoticonBeen lovely and sunny here today, I marched down to the post office this morning as soon as the car insurance letter came through the post so I could tax the car... Oh wait, I forgot, we got a new car, well, it's not new, a used car, we got a volvo V40 estate cause we were sick of not having enough room in our car when we went to visit family. I feel like a we've got a proper family car now , it's quite nice for a volvo actually, metalic blue, full black leather interior, and air con (thank god), our old car had no air con and the blowers were worse than useless so we used to literally boil in it.. after we got to peterborough last weekend dylan looked like this - .
Anyasmum - love the story about anya pulling all the cd's out and inspecting them, it's so funny how everything has to be investigated as if it's amazingly wonderful
Well, i'm off to chill with an ice gold bud, catch ya all soon

benandsamsmummy · 10/05/2008 14:41

hello everyone
Please can i join you all?
I don't know anyone with a baby the same age as mine so it has been nice reading what everyone elses are doing.
My ds2 is 7 months old tomorrow. He is crawling and refusing purees but loves finger food. He has got 4 teeth. And in general is alittle bit of a terror.

alicet · 10/05/2008 15:16

Skim read so forgive me if I miss anything!

Floria holiday sounds fab!

YLLP when are you going back to work? Good luck on them accepting part time! I am part time - 3 days a week - a pretty good balance before and I'm sure will be again when I get used to it...

Welcome benandsamsmummy - I have a Sam too (he was 2 in Feb) and an Adam (7 months). Lisalesslumpy also has a ben and sam although the other way round!

Um - have read rest of posts honest but now my memory is failing me.... Well it was my birthday yesterday and we are having mates round to celebrate tonight so trying to get food and room ready while both boys are sleeping! Might be back later but more realistically tomorrow!

Big hellos to everyone else!

AnyasMum07 · 10/05/2008 16:07

Hi ben&samsmum - welcome! (Did think LLL had changed her name again at first!) I don't think we've got any other crawling babies yet, or have I missed some?

Alice - happy birthday for yesterday!

Dal - Anya is very shouty at the moment too - maybe it's a development stage they're going through, or maybe it's the weather. She glares at things and growls like a little tiger, or rolls around shouting. She's developed a really good angry face too where she puffs her cheeks out and makes fists and goes "hmmmmm" in a very annoyed way. So sweet , but she's going to get frown lines at a very young age!

Loving the sunshine - or even the cloudy warm weather. Makes me far too lazy to do anything.

LisaLessLumpy · 10/05/2008 17:44

Hi benandsamsmummy

I have a Sam who is 3 on June 9th and Ben who was 7 months on the 5th May He is lying on his mat shouting at the tv at the moment, no teeth as of yet

Dalrymps · 10/05/2008 21:18

Alice - I have obviously not been paying enough attention to realise it was your birthday yesterday, so, Happy Birthday for yesterday!

Benandsamsmummy - Welcome, we're a friendly bunch, nice to have a newby!

We've had a lovely day today. Walked in to town with bil and sil and did some birthday present shopping, we've got 4 birthdays in May! then walk back with them to pils (they live next door) and bailey (our nephew) had a go on the new swing granny and grandad got him for their garden whilst we sat on the grass and dylan had a sit in the new sand pit they also got, he was enjoying scrunching his toes in the sand but then tried to eat his toes so had to be removed .
We've just walked back, Dylan had a nice early night and we're gonna watch a film.
Other bil and sil are coming to visit pils and us tomorrow with our niece so were gonna have another nice family day
Well, i'm off to watch the film now so hello to everyone I haven't mentioned and hope you all have a nice day tomorrow in the sun

Happy Belated Birthday alice, sorry I missed it

Well Ben is still coughing and still throwing up, its becoming annoying now, even though I know he can't help it Got an appt to see the doc on tuesday but I can't see what she can do to help.

Did the Race for Life this morning... boy was it hot hot hot, managed to do it in 40 mins, not bad, quite happy with that. Next year we are aiming to do it in 30 mins thanks to those that sponsored me

LLL - sorry Ben is still poorly. Hope doc can sort something out. Well done with Race for Life.

Inzi - poor you having bad nights with Jane. Hope she settles down soon.

Anya's being generally a bit grumpy - lots of snarling and growling. Not sure if it's the weather, or frustration at not being able to crawl. She often wakes in the night now too - I think it's because she rolls around in the night and wakes up confused because she's in the wrong place, or the wrong way up, and while she's awake she decides she's hungry. Hope she grows out of it soon!

Hello to everybody else
