LisaLessLumpy · 02/05/2008 14:40

The woman phoned me to arrange it. It wouldn't hurt you asking though

J2O · 02/05/2008 15:35

LBMM-here they get a 6-12 month check

muppetgirl · 02/05/2008 19:59

We don't get a check. I did with Ollie but none with H. I will ask them to measure his height/head circ next time out of interest though.

House is sparkling like a new pin -even dh's study which now has a futon in it so people can sleep in there. We are sleeping an extra 5 tomorrow night so 7 adults and 2 children all in all. Ollie in in with Henry on his thomas ready bed which he is sooo excited about. Just hope he'll sleep! If he doesn't he'll have to be in with dh and me, don't like the idea of that personally!

Just finished doing the garden, sorting out the raised beds, getting rid of last years dead growth on the pots and jet washing the patio. It looks great now, we just need a few more plants to fill the empty pots from last year.

FInally have anoth af (2nd since H was born) I had one 6 weeks ago and nothing since and are now having real tummy pains as I did with the edometreosis. It styaed away for 2 years with Ollie....maybe not so lucky this time

Ollie has also told all of school that we are having another baby so he is obviously being mr flappy ears again i asked him where we'd put another baby when we were in the car and he said that it could go next to him (his name would be 'Edward' too!) He then said could we have 4 more babies to which I said -where would we put them??!!?? he said we would sell our car and get a slightly longer one!!!!

I love his little mind, it never stops!

LittleBigMansMum · 02/05/2008 21:23

good luck with the christening Muppett!!
hope it all goes smoothly, and the family are on their best behaviour!
Don;t forget the piccies for us.

AnyasMum07 · 03/05/2008 07:43

Morning all.

Anya's got a really bad cold at the moment - lots of sneezing and coughing. It's waking her up in the night so she's waking me for a feed. A bit of a shock when I'm so used to her sleeping through!

DH is away for the weekend - left early this morning. Luckily I am all up to date with stuff.

Am thinking about switching to blw - is this possible after giving purees? Think it might be much easier not to have to do separate meals for her, but not really sure how it works. Any advice from blw's?

Had a phone call this week from a large IFA firm who are interested in signing me up. I used to hate working for big companies but on the other hand if I can persuade them to let me work part-time and they'll give me some guaranteed salary I might just snatch their hand off. Am seeing their rep in a couple of weeks when he's back from hols.

Muppet - hope the family behaves themselves this weekend. I'm sure the christening will go fine - enjoy it! Lol at Ollie's comments about another baby.

Lisa - sounds like Ben's doing very well! And well done with the sitting up.

Dal - sorry you're stressed. Dylan sounds like he's doing fine - he's just not a big milk drinker. If he's looking happy and healthy then he will find his own natural weight surely? Can't believe your hv dismissed the fact that both you and your dh were slim children - surely it's obvious that Dylan will be the same? I'm sure hv's get too hung up on charts. Anya's plummeting down the percentiles - even lost weight last time, but I reckon if she wasn't getting enough food for her (iyswim) she would be lethargic - not the word that springs to mind! The one time I mentioned it to our doc she looked at me as though I was mad and just said 'well she's going to be slim like the 2 of you!' as though it was the most obvious thing in the world - the most sensible advice I've had.

Strawberry - well done finding a childminder that you're happy with. She sounds great. Glad you can rest easy now.

J2O - you, a flirt??!! Can't imagine that . How did coffee go?

Alice - hope Adam enjoyed nursery. Allow yourself a little wobble at first. Enjoy your wedding.

Crochet - good comments from MIL - wow!

Have a good weekend everybody
x

Dalrymps · 03/05/2008 09:21

Thanks for all the sensible and calming comments ladies. It's easy to get stressed when 'the professionals' think they know your baby better than you do. I think the best thing to do is what you all suggested, go see the doc and get their oppinion then try to relax!
Haven't been able to get an appointment yet but will try again tues.
Off down to Peterborough today to visit my bro and sil and my brand new baby niece Mia, am so excited! Dh is working till 12 today so will set off after that, coming back monday. Funny, I'm sat here with Dylan asleep on my knee but I haven't packed our bags yet , strange thing is, i'm not bothered at all, since becoming a mum i've developed the skill of packing extra fast . Not too bothered about the journey with Dylan this time as we've done it twice before so i'm an old hat at it now . Strange that I feel so relaxed about it, when I think back I can remember being scared to leave the house with Dylan!
Anyasmum - info on baby led weaning here
Good news on that firm contacting you, hope it's just what you want
Muppet - Ollies ideas about having another baby sound great to me . Hope the christening goes well, can't wait to see the pics!
LLL - Ben sounds like he's doing brilliantly! Dylan too would be a lot better at sitting if it wasn't for the throwing himself bacwards, he does it so fast!
Crochet - thanks for the advice and the links, yeah i've eased back on the food a bit, still offering some but not to a strict routine or anything, just now and agsin.
Glad your MIL is finally realising you know best
Alice - yeah Dylan only just turned 6 months last tues so i'm just going to relax about the food and go at his pace.
Hope you enjoy the wedding, the weather is supposed to be lovely this weekend so sould be really nice
Well, mr snoozy is stirring so i'd better start packing, hi to everyone I haven't mentioned and hope you all have a nice weekend

ChocolateHobnob · 03/05/2008 09:42

Hello all!

Anyasmum, PSML at idea of Anya being lethargic. If she's lethargic, I'm comatose!!! Hope her cold improves - I've got a cold too - my third since she was born - she tends to avoid them though. Joys of breastfeeding or plain lucky, don't know! Mind you now I've said that she'll end up catching it.

Muppet, enjoy the christening!

Dal/Muppet, etc, as J20 wisely said, charts need low weight and high weight babies to create the 'average' line that they produce. Rebecca is pretty much average - a bit under the 50th - atm but I think it's subject to change anyway as solids are introduced, as they start to move, etc etc. Dal, it sounds like the healthcare professionals have been fussing about Dylan's size since he was in the womb and he's fine.

Crochetdiva, glad Mairwen is eating well! On the subject of blw, Anyasmum, I think if you follow it to the letter you can't follow purees with baby led weaning BUT you can easily move from purees onto exactly the same methods as blw, ie finger food, sharing what you eat, etc etc. I think I'm going to do a mix. Yesterday I tried blw on myself. Don't laugh. I got a stalk of broccoli, held the flowery bit in my mouth and sucked. It was a) disgusting and b) it just wouldnt disintegrate! My goodness you could suck forever. Anyway I had been thinking of exclusively blw but now I'm thinking of a mix like Alicet's doing and like you'd effectively be doing, Anyasmum. Bit of finger food, bit of mashed up food, etc. Strawberry/Crochet, what did you give your los first?

News from here: Rebecca can sit up really well now unsupported. She was doing it a little bit last week but suddenly as of Thursday she can sit on her own for at least five minutes - sometimes up to 15. Result. She also has white teeth showing through, two showing at top, and one at bottom, but not quite here yet. I had thought she was hungry at night and had been feeding her, but I now realize she was crying with her teeth so she gets teething powder and relaxes.

OK, hope you're all well! Have a good Sat all. I'm off for a hot chocolate and some cake...

AnyasMum07 · 03/05/2008 11:48

Choc - rofl at you sucking a piece of broccoli. Dal - thanks for link - there's a few posts on there about people switching from purees to blw. Think I'll do a mix over the next few days - use up the purees in the freezer and give her a bit of our food at the same time. Will have to be more organised in an afternoon so that we actually eat in the evening while she's still awake! Also very aware that we eat rubbish most of the time - we're going to have to eat more fruit/veg .

Choc - well done Rebecca sitting up.

Mmmmm hot chocolate and cake.....

strawberrylace · 03/05/2008 20:44

Hello everyone ? hope you have all been enjoying the weekend ? we have spent all day tidying up the garden in the sun!
Crochet ? that?s great news about your MIL being nice for once!
LLL ? well done on Ben for passing his 6mth check. I think ours are 8mths here?
Muppet ? lol at Ollie & the new baby stories. Hope the christening goes well tomorrow
Dal ? hope you have fun cuddling Mia!
Anyasmum ? I hope the IFA firm works out. I reckon its definitely worth trying to give Anya the option of some finger foods at a meal a day...
Choc ? sorry you have a cold. Lol at the broccoli story ? that?s what we gave Olly first, cos it?s easy to hold ? he managed to get it all over his head!
Anyasmum & Choc ? some good foods to try for BLW are: philly cheese on toast, eggy bread, Yorkshire pudding, pitta bread and hummous, veggies such as broccoli, carrot, peppers, cucumber, fruit like banana and melon, and pasta. DS loves feeding himself things, and it means we can all eat together in peace ? you can?t scream when your mouth is full of gummed toast! HTH!

Hi everyone

Sorry I haven't been on for ages - I didn't realise quite how long it had been til I tried to catch up and still haven't managed to finish reading stuff I've missed since the last time.

Muppet - I'm jealous of your tidy house, mine has looked like a bomb's hit it for months now and I'm finding it really getting me down. Hope christening went well. Great news re another baby. Part of me can't believe you're even thinking about it. Part of me is potentially envious ...

Dal - sorry to hear about your worries on the weight-gain front. I too get the odd 'isn't he small' comment. I haven't taken Huw near a pair of scales for months and I'm finding it much less stressful that way. Try not to worry - I'm sure D's just fine.

Alice - sorry you're wobbly re nursery, but not surprised. I'm thinking of you going back to work (boo work !)

I hear small whimpers from the hallway, so I've gotta go.

Huw has a cough, and his first tooth!!!!

See you soon!

Big waves to everyone.

A xxxx

whoops ...

AnyasMum07 · 05/05/2008 08:20

It's quiet on here this weekend - must be because it's bank holiday.

Strawberry - thanks for the tips. Tried finger foods yesterday - toast for breakfast, cheese salad sandwich for lunch , and sticks of carrot and cauliflower for tea, plus a strawberry. She's very enthusiastic and shoves everything in her mouth (she did take the sandwich apart first!), mashes it up and then lets most of it fall out again. Don't think she actually swallowed very much at all. Is this normal at first? Think I will stick with it - she's more excited about it than purees, which I think she's getting bored of.

YLLP - hi! Hurray at Huw's tooth. Hope is cough is better soon.

FT - you back from SA this weekend? We want all the news on how that went!

Tried sitting Anya up over the weekend - on Saturday she actually managed about 3 seconds before toppling over . Not sure she's happy about the idea though - she looks a bit panicked and then her face slowly crumples. Awwww. Tried again yesterday and she'd completely forgotten how to balance. Full marks for effort though!

Spent yesterday putting Anya's old clothes on ebay. I got confused though about how to get the listing on the featured item bit and I've ended up paying about £16 too much in fees and I can't get rid of the unwanted things (like bigger photos). Have emailed them so hopefully they will take off the unwanted bits and refund me.

Not sure what to do today. Need to go to garden centre but don't really want to face that on a bank holiday. If it stays nice weather might have picnic on the lawn to try out new picnic blanket!

Have a good day all
x

ChocolateHobnob · 05/05/2008 08:51

Hello ladies!

quick stop for me. Rebecca has totally grown up!!! sits up all the time now, doesnt want to lie down, and doesnt fall down either. Sad moment as goodbye to the playmat arches and to the bouncy chair - an era is over. Makes me broody again!!!

Off to my parents today. I've still got an evil cold, coughing and sneezing away. Bleugh. Little girl didnt sleep more than 45 minutes at a go last night, again, having had a couple of nights last week where she went two hours. Sigh.

Have a good day everyone!

LittleBigMansMum · 05/05/2008 08:59

the sun is shining 3 days in a row! Whoooohooo!
Anyasmum - well done on blw. Its easier, but as you say thy really don;t swallow much. We've been mixing blw with purees, has been working so far. Took ds to a restaurant with on saturday, he loved pitta and yogurt and made everyone including waiters laugh at the mess he made

Choc - dd is a big girl now!! know what you mean about an end of an 'era'. They do develop so fast that i/we almost take it for granted!

I've had a very busy weekend, lots of running around, dinner parties.. i'm fed up of cooking but really fancy a bbq today!!!
Good news - Mum and dad back from there 2 month holiday! Yeah!!

Off o see them later today, i think they will litterally EAT ds !

Hi to everyone, enjoy the sun.

AnyasMum07 · 05/05/2008 12:02

Grrr, ebay will not amend my listing or refund fees. Have paid £26.35 to list one item . Will just have to hope it gets lots and lots of bids!

Choc - well done Rebecca! I'm feeling ok so far about Anya growing up - mainly because she's getting much happier as she discovers she can do things - and if she's happy then I'm happy. Just think of all the great times you'll have with Rebecca as she grows.

Tried sitting her up again this morning - managed about 10 secs once I'd found her 'balance point' . She seemed less bewildered this time too.

bbq sounds lovely LBMM - not sunny here though at all. Everything still looks wet from yesterday (poured down non-stop). Enjoy your day.

AnyasMum07 · 05/05/2008 16:13

Cannot believe I've just joined Facebook. What's the matter with me?? Boo to dull rainy bank holidays. Think I may have poked some of you, but no idea what I'm doing. Feel free to poke me... rogerandnicola at hotmail dotcom .

ChocolateHobnob · 05/05/2008 19:43

I know exactly what you mean Anyasmum - I wouldnt want to go back to the newborn stage with Rebecca at all; she gets more wonderful every day and I can read her better every day too, which makes for happy mummy and baby! However I do feel shocked at how fast she is growing up and I am sad to put away certain toys. Making me think it might be time to start considering baby two...

Hope you had a good day on FB. And Mine - bet your parents loved Eren!!!

alicet · 05/05/2008 21:04

Choc OMG are you mad to want another one when R s sleeping so bad?!?!?!! Still you would probably be fine in that it couldn't get worse Looking forward to seeing her all grown up...

Crochet delighted with your mil finally realising that you are not useless and actually know your dd better than she does!

Anyasmum great news about IFA - hope it works out if you want it to. Sounds like Anya is doing great on finger foods too. I'm doing a bit of both - more purees to be honest but I always give him stuff we have if it's appropriate.

Muppet hope H's christening went well

Hello everyone else!

Must go soon as dh wants computer and I've been hogging it... Feeling OK about work tomorrow - I went in on Friday to see my boss and it was all fine. Will take me a while to settle in but it won't be as bad as I'm imagining I'm sure... We had a lovely weekend and pil's did more of night shifts with the boys than normal so I'm even feeling pretty well rested! Sure Adam will be up every 5 mins tonight before I go to work tomorrow just to mess that up!

Anyway see you soon....

Hello ladies

What a lovely day today and its only going to get better as the week wears on

Ben is poorly, don't know whether its just a cold or whether he is teething. He has got a hacking cough, loads of phlegm I can hear rattling around, red cheeks, slight temperature, dribbling and is off his food. He's only had 14 ounces of milk for the second day running, he is still eating his food though and drinking water He is sitting up now though, he has gone from a minute or so this morning and me having to keep putting him back to a sitting position, to this afternoon being put on the floor ans still happily sitting there 10 mins later that's my boy I got out the stacking buckets for him and he loves them so now need to have a sort out of all his toys

I am mainly using purees on Ben too, he hates lumps of any sort, just like Sam was I have been giving him stuff to hold too but he isn't overly interested in them, he won't even pick up broccolli now after the first time

alicet - have you noticed that Ellas kitchen have now got another 4 new flavours? Ben loves the strawberry and apple one

Ooops gotta go Ben is crying, catch you all later

LittleBigMansMum · 05/05/2008 21:31

LLL - my ds is exactly the same.. he has a flemy cough and just will not drink milk but is better with solids. If you find a magic potion that cures the little mites pls share!

strawberrylace · 05/05/2008 22:55

Hello everyone
Another LO here with a cough and permasnot nose! I think it's teething related, as he doesn't seem to be unwell in himself, just a bit crotchety, but otherwise eating and drinking fine. Just a bit soggy when you pick him up LLL & LBMM - hope your DSs are ok....
Anyasmum - in my experience it's quite normal for them not to seem to eat much with the BLW - I pick DS up out of his highchair, and there's bits of mushed food all around him! Still, I know bits do go in, cos they come out = IYKWIM

alicet · 06/05/2008 06:19

Hope all your los feel a bit better soon! Adam has been a bit snotty over the weekend too although he's seemed pretty happy in himself. 3 nights in the last week he's slept until 5.30-6am too - right result! Almost not a good thing last night though - I need to be up for 6.30 for work and so although I tried to go back to sleep have just given up - would feel worse now if I managed!

Lisa yes I have noticed the new flvours but they're not available in our local supermarket - need an extra special trip to the big tesco to get them!

Anyway off to get some things together that I need for work - was in too much denial to be sensible and do it last night... Honestly I can be responsible and organised at work - no need to worry for the surgically ill in Newcastle!

OP posts:
AnyasMum07 · 06/05/2008 07:14

Woohoo, sunshine!

LLL - sounds like Ben is doing great - what a clever boy! Poor him having a cold - could be teething, could be a virus - there's all sorts going round. Maybe take him to the docs if it doesn't clear up in a day or so.

Alice - have a good day at work.

LisaLessLumpy · 06/05/2008 07:42

We were all up before Ben this morning he woke up 10 mins ago. The sun is shining and I feel wide awake. I had a great nights sleep, slept from 11pm till 5.30am without waking up once Right, will go and get his bottle and see if he will have some this morning
