FT-i am so sorry for your friend, i hope you enjoy your time away.

weekend was good but last night i started with flu or tonsilitus and i literally can't move, v difficult to type, i cant eat or drink anything or get anyone to have Shannon for me, i don't know what to do, it sounds awful but im contemplating ringing my hv to see if anyone can take her for a few hrs, im worried i pass out or drop her, any ideas?

alicet · 22/04/2008 13:34

J20 honey if I lived closer I would come and take her out for you. Nothing helpful to suggest apart from what you have already said - calling your hv. There must be things they can do to help in situations like this... Good luck xxxxxx

muppetgirl · 22/04/2008 13:45

J20 - I echo what Alice has said and only wished I lived nearer so I could help x Is your mum not about? Can you move downstairs for a couple of days, sleep there and let Shannon too as then you don't have to worry about stairs etc. (apart from the loo of course) Can dd1 help a bit? I know you will have thought about all this, just so sorry I can't physically help...

Crotchetdiva - good luck for your exam on Thur -are you around 2 weeks yesterday to meet up If you fancy it?

ALice -enjoy your freedom! and I hope the book is a good one x

Just got Henry weighed and is 19lb 9oz at 24 weeks. Still a lazy boy though as he isn;t interested in moving at all, or sitting up or rolling over (just grabs feet and falls to the side, not exactly a movement of intention iykwim!) still HV not fussed as 2nd babies can sometimes be so placid they just sit and watch older brothers/sisters so that's fine. She said as a min she would want him sitting by 8 months.

Spent morning cooking, made a bread and butter pudding and 1 to freeze, 5 choccy mousses (to try to freeze as my friends mum says they freeze well and I could make a batch for the Christeing a little before) and 2 batches of lemon curd, 1 to freeze again.
Going to attempt a steak and Kidney pie later (Hugh FW's recipe) might work, might not but hey Ollie will eat it no matter what at the mo!

Love to all
x

J2O · 22/04/2008 16:34

Mine · 22/04/2008 22:22

J20 i hope you feel better soon. It must be so hard. Wish i was closer too to help out.
Look after yourself xxxxxx

AnyasMum07 · 23/04/2008 08:01

Hi all. Feeling a bit rubbish this morning. Had a tummy bug yesterday - or could have been dodgy prawn - so feel a bit wiped out now. Plus I've been awake since 4am stressing about work/money. To cut a long story short I was a freelance accountant up until last summer but I wasn't really enjoying it and it wouldn't be feasible to do that now - I was working to tight deadlines all the time. I've started doing financial services work instead (pensions, investments, etc) which I love and it's more flexible hours, but the regulation costs are so high and it's costing me money to do it at the moment until I can get more clients - and that's proving REALLY hard. DH has a small income so we won't starve but I'm getting really stressed about it all.

Sorry, didn't intend to start a me me me post.

FT - so sorry about your friend - I can't imagine what she's going through. We are all so lucky to have our healthy lo's. No guilt at going to SA - your friend will know you are thinking of her. Newmama - wonderfully put, that made me cry.

Choc - can't believe people think Rebecca will be backward if she's not weaned until 6 months. Honestly!

Dal - congrats on becoming an auntie. Mia Grace is a gorgeous name. Glad it all went well, even if it took a long time!

Crochet - good luck for exam tomorrow.

J2O - sorry you're not well - feeling better today?

Anya saw the registrar on Monday who's under the consultant in charge of scan at the other hospital. He says there's no problem doing it under sedation - they're "more experienced" there so it should go smoothly. Hopefully to be arranged in next month or two. Frustratingly her notes have gone missing again - the registrar didn't even know why she was having the scan - all he had was the consultant's letter to the genetics doctor acknowledging the referral. I can see the notes going missing permanently at this rate .

Have a good day all - may the sun be shining where you are!

J2O · 23/04/2008 13:01

anyas mum, sorry your feeling poorly and stressed, i think you must be doing the same as my friend, is it where you get a really low basic salary then get a % of anything you sell?

thanks for all being nice, i ended up going to the emergency doc last night who gave me dissolvable asprin and ab that i can't swallow, i still cant drink or eat anything, i am so hoping my throat starts feeling better soon or im going to end up really dehydrated. dd1 ended up going to my friends last night too, and this morning she text me to say she'd got in touch with my hv and shes going to ring me this afternoon, but not to worry because she'll have the girls again tonight if i need her to, im not sure why she bothered ringing hv if thats the case, i really dont want Shannon being taken to a stranger, i'd rather have her here and just cope the best i can. i cant think straight,i think it must be hunger, sorry for the me me me post again

AnyasMum07 · 23/04/2008 13:22

Hurray! We have a date for Anya's scan - 19th May - less than a month! Got to starve her for 4 hours but the scan is at 12:15 so that's not too bad at all - she can have her morning feed plus an early breakfast. We're allowed to give her water or juice after that though but she's not wild about drinking that. We've tried both out of a sippy cup at mealtimes and she likes the idea of holding the cup but screws her face up when she gets a taste. Any tips on how to get her drinking water/juice?

J2O - sorry you're still not feeling well. At least you've got a great friend to help with the girls. Really hope you're feeling better soon. I'm not quite the same as your friend - I work for myself so I don't get any guaranteed income but I have to pay fees to the FSA and insurance. Anyway, just feeling a bit sorry for myself today. It'll pass ! Just have to do loads of marketing/advertising.

alicet · 23/04/2008 14:12

J2O sorry you're still feeling rough - just make sure you look after yourself and let your mate help! Sure you will be able to return the favour when you're back on form!

Anyasmum sorry you're so stressed about work - can understand why. My dh looked into doing this - I think once things get going then you should do fine but sure it's stressful at the moment. Great news on Anya's scan though!

Well both boys asleep and I am feeling very virtuous for having done the washing and washing up. Shouldn't be pleased with myself really - all in a days work isn't it? - but I usually get nothing done when I have them both! Just having some me time now though - think that's fair enough!

got to go im off out with the girls tonight

nellieloula · 24/04/2008 10:21

morning everyone - been ages since I've been on and no hope of catching up with you all....J20, how are you doing? I know just how tough things are when you're on your own - like everyone else, I wish there was something I could do. My trick is to focus on things minute by minute instead of being daunted by the big picture of 2 on your own when things are bad - my DS and Madeleine have both been really poorly so my nights have been hellish. I really feel for you - keep strong.

Hope everyone else is ok - will come back soon when i have more time. Have a good afternoon

alicet · 24/04/2008 14:23

Where are all you lovely ladies today? Seems the days that I am about you are all awol and the days I don't get round to checking in the conversations are so long I barely have a chance to skim the thread!

Hello nellie!

A fairly uneventful day here.... Adam currently asleep but we're off for second 2 hour induction nursery visit at 3. I was going to try and go in to my work to sort a few things but my boss isn't around. Managed to sort out seeing him next Friday am though so all good.

Oh and Adam slept through from 10.30 to about 6.30 2 nights running!!!!! Didn't mention it before as didn't want to jinx it but predictably last night we were back to the 3am bottle.... Still he can do it so that's progress!

OP posts:
J2O · 24/04/2008 16:08

Hi Nellie

Alice, can't you give him water at 3 am, or something else to make him forget about a bottle, dummy...?

thanks for all your nice words, i am still really crap, managing to drink a bit, well, enough to get abs down anyway, ooh and i managed to eat 3 quavers last night!
my friend is having shannon for the 3rd night running, and she brought her here to get her bottles sorted, she passed shannon to me and walked off, and shannon started crying for her its only been 3 days! the thing is i'm too tired to be upset over it at the moment, i've still got dd1, who i've got to go pick up from school in a minute, not been out since mon so should be interesting and i'll prob collapse on the sofa when we get in. i'd better get ready, love to you all xx

alicet · 24/04/2008 19:49

J2O sorry you're still feeling crap. Fingers crossed things will improve soon! I do try giving Adam a dummy which does sometimes work but usually he goes ballistic. Ditto water. Given that he settles really quickly with the milk to be honest I'm not bothered. Sleeping through was great but I can cope with him just waking at 10.30 and 3ish - dh does the 10.30 one and I do the other. Sam was the same and sorted himself out as Adam is showing signs of doing. Think I'm probably a big softy but it's OK so far....

Oh and my sister is heading in to be induced as we speak - watch this space!

OP posts:
ChocolateHobnob · 24/04/2008 21:08

Alice, you're a little softie not a big one. Great news on Adam's sleep. I gather Rebecca habits didn't rub off on him..?

J20, take care of yourself! Shame none of us is nearby. And Shannon will no doubt have remembered you're her fabby mummy by now!

Who was on about Come Dine with Me? I love it. The narrator is hilarious!

Anyasmum, great news about the scan and sorry about the bug and the money issues. Hope the advertising works! Things'll get easier I'm sure.

I've had an action packed day - lunch with antenatal girls at the coast, then I walked miles to a friend's house who had a little boy a month ago. He has terrible colic and she is shattered, but, get this, he already sleeps better than Rebecca. Grr...

Off to bed! Hugs all.

alicet · 24/04/2008 21:18

Hello Choc!!! Just about to email you... Quite up for swimming tomorrow.

I watched come dine with me too! Not as funny as last week though....

strawberrylace · 24/04/2008 21:57

Hello everyone!

J2O - hope you are feeling a bit better now
Anyasmum - good news about the scan, but I hope you can get the work thing sorted. I am hating the fact that DS is 6 mths already and I have to seriously think about going back to work - i don't want to leave him, but we need the money
Choc - your day sounds very busy. I did watch come dine with me, but agree with alicet that last weeks was better
Alicet - my DS doesn't really sleep through either - he wakes for a feed at about midnight, but will then go through till 6, so I just stay up till midnight, and then it doesn't feel as bad! Still, keeping my fingers crossed for you tonight...
Hello Nellie and everyone else!

Well, today I finished my first aid course - very worthwhile, if somewhat scary in places. Tomorrow I am going to see my godmother, who hasn't seen DS for a while, so that will be nice. And then I am praying for a sunny weekend so I can get out in the garden

yourlonglostpal · 24/04/2008 22:12

hi all

my dd strikes again - doesn't just speak 'street', but welsh too!

I, too, hope the exam went well

J20 - hope you feel better soon. Don't worry about Shannon, she'll be fine once she's back with you.

Oh god, I'm too tired to think, type, string sentence together. No particular reason, I just am.

FT - so sorry to hear your news

Big hellos to everyone. I'll try to gte back on when Im less knackered sooon.

Tkae care all

A x

For everybody else ... the exam went really well - I have to wait 6 weeks for the results, but hopefully, I passed!

Now, back to normal life again ... I'm starting the next level up next week: Hoping to do 2 years in 1 - very complicated!

j20 - I really hope you're feeling better soon!

Choc - I really feel for you - my friend is having sleep nightmares with her lo too, and it's heart-breaking to see her struggling (+ her dh is being a real tit, and is refusing to accept there's a problem!)

anyasmum - yay on the scan!

strawberry - glad you had fun on your first aid course!

alice - I'm in the "anything for an easy life " camp too ...

muppetgirl - I can't make a week Monday - it's the bank holiday, and dh will be around and wanting to do family things ... I can make any other day that week, though!

Right, am going to do some crochet squares - waving to Mine, mewmama, LLL, dal, inzi, and anybody else I've forgotten to mention! have a good weekend!

Mine · 25/04/2008 09:30

well done crotchetdiva!! I take my hat off to all you ladies that manage to do ANYTHING in addition to looking after your beautiful lo's!

i've been a good ickle housewife today.... all washing done, cleaning done, cooking done.
Now all i have to do is take care of myself.

Its lovely day, so may tend to my garden!!
Have a lovely day all.

J2O · 25/04/2008 09:52

crochetdiva-hope you pass!

feeling slightly better, but nowhere near 100% more like 50% atm, it seems Shannon may have it now so have booked her in to the sit and wait which should be great fun, since i dont know if i have the energy to drive yet, but will just have to, hopefully i should be out of my self pity phase by the end of the weekend!

love to you all xxx

LisaLessLumpy · 25/04/2008 11:22

J20 - Glad you are feeling slightly better
Crochet - Congrats on passing your exam.
Hello to everyone else [wavey] Tomorrow looks like it is going to be a lovely warm and sunny day for once so looking forward to that

Ben is going through an unsettled phase atm, he keeps crying and whining and wants constant attention, I'm not used to it so it is getting me more frazzled than I think I would be, iyswim. Last night he had 11oz's of formula before bed, was up and wanting a feed an hour earlier than usual and then had 10oz's plus half a weetabix, methinks he is having another growth spurt He is still rolling everywhere but will only go one way and keeps getting stuck by the fireplace and then gets all frustrated and crying, just like he is now.... right sorted he is also only napping rather than a decent sleep but will cry for ages because he is tired, but won't give in to it. Luckily he is still sleeping at night. I hope he'll settle down soon, I think he is also very frustrated as he can't quite do or go where he wants to yet

LisaLessLumpy · 25/04/2008 11:22

Ooops, sorry misread your post crochet, I hope you pass your exam, fingers crossed
