Re: London meet up do we have a date yet? dp needs to book off of work.

muppetgirl · 13/04/2008 18:50

Hi all!

Love all the name changes but aren't sure I'll remember who's who for a while as I still have a bad dose of babybrain! (Or babybrian as I've called it before )

Well, Ollie's party was a huge success. He totally loved the spaceman theme and everyone joined in and did something. We had a space fairy with tinsel wings twin astronauts with tinfoiled cycled helmets, a couple of buzzlightyears (including a Miss Buzz lightyear!) it was fab. They enjoyed the bouncy castle and pass the parcel and I think I even managed to convince Ollie that the dinosaur cake (from waitrose -I forgot to do the cake in the end ) was in fact a 'spacemonster cake' he looked at me a little dubiously but there you go...

MIL wasn't to bad but did insist on checking Oliver 3 times in the night as she was 'so worried' about him as he was supposedly, hot (He wasn't at all ) It annoys me as she actually woke him in the early morning it appears. I checked as usual as I went to bed and he was fine. why she felt it necessary to check him twice more is beyond me. I also can't stand the 'oh, Hen's crying let's shove a dummy in his face' he doesn't usually have a dummy and then gets more upset as one is then held in his face whilst he is vigourously (sp?) bounced up and down on her kneee. I think I'd be upset about that too!

The utility room now stinks of cigarettes as she smokes outside, then brings the dead butts inside and puts them in a plastic bag in the utility room. She, of course, can't smell the smoke which I, of course having never smoked, can do mothing but smell it.

ARRRRGGGGHHHHHHH

That's better. But at least they've gone and I have a tidy spare room

Sorry it's a me me me post. Am now off to put put Ollie to bed and pour myself a rather large Gin and Tonic

muppetgirl · 13/04/2008 18:53

Hi TLES, when were we all thinking of for a London meetup? I'll get dh to book a day off also so I can then bring both boys.

Are we talking midweek or weekend first of all?

Any dates to avoid after that?

Then it's a case of narrowing it down.

Dalrymps · 13/04/2008 21:47

Hey everyone!
LLL - well done Ben , Dylan hasn't managed to roll yet from back to front, keeps trying though. Keep trying to sit him but he just goes forwards and folds up still, can't sit really well if I hold him lighly on my knee though, guess he'll get there .
Well curiosity (sp?) got the better of us today so we tried Dylan with some food, I defrosted some carrot puree and he kind of stuck his tongue out before I could get the spoon in so i just put a little on his tongue and he did an initial face of disgust then started sort of moving it round his mouth, in between sticking his fingers in there (he's a major finger sucker), we put a little on his fingers and he put them in his mouth and sucked it off and seemed to enjoy it. Left it at that for today, didn't know what to expect really? How did everyone elses lo react to their first taste? I was kind of hoping he might have opened his mouth a bit for some but he didn't but then again he was in a bit of a funny mood as he was brewing a big poo [blish], gonna try apple tomorrow I think, will try and catch him in a better mood too. Maybe he's just not quite ready? or maybe he has no idea what to do with the food? Any ideas???
Muppet - with you on the smelling smole thing, pils smoke and I can smell it a mile off when they've had one (don't do it near Dylan thouhgh), I smoked myself when I was at uni but am disgusted at the thought I ever did now, oh well you live and learn I guess.
Well i'm off for a quick squiz on ebay, hi to everyone I haven't mentioned, catch ya soon

FloriaTosca · 14/04/2008 11:03

Hi All
Seems a while since we had a roll call..we were saying at the York meet that there are considerably fewer of us post-natal than there were ante-natal. I was lurking round the September 07 girls thread (just love their latest thread title;"I'm sitting..I'm sssitting....I'm sssssitting......I'm ssssssssssssssssitting...... THUD!" )and thought it might be fun to steal their updates format (perhaps we should do one at the start of each new thread?). Here goes:

Age: 6 months, 3 weeks.
Height: dunno
Weight: 17lb 10oz 3 weeks ago. spot on the 50% line
Sitting: Yes (but still put a cushion behind just incase he does the thread title thing)
Rolling: Back to front, only half way, he hates being on his tummy..can do front to back but finds screaming less effort with a quicker result.
Crawling: No way
Standing: Oh yes..."don't care if it does make you back ache Mum;I want to walk up and down the room!"
Teeth: none.
Talking; "mamamamama"..well that's what I hear, I dont care what anyone says!
Sleeping: Usually 8pm-4am then feed, 4.15-6.30 (if we are lucky).
Fave Food: Mummys porrige (not the baby stuff), mashed avocado, whole strawberries, slivers of mango and Mummys home made chunky vegetable soup...oh and cheese; cottage,cheddar,lancashire... so long as it's cheese he'll eat it.
Fave Toy: Amby JumpJump (bouncer)and soft mouse head and arms sewn into the middle of a hankie type thing to snuggle at bed time
Meals per day:3

Dalrymps · 14/04/2008 11:28

Ok i'll go..
Age: 24 wks - be 6 months on 2 weeks
Height: not sure, tried to measure him myself and he was in the middle of the centiles but thats not too accurate?!
Weight: 12lb 7oz at last weigh in 2 wks ago - getting there slowly!
Sitting: Ok supported but folds in half otherwise
Rolling: front to back yes, but back to front only half way so far
Crawling: no, when put on front, either struggles and rolls back on to back or if feeli tired scrambles with his feet for a while then just collapses and waits to be picked up
Standing: Loves to stand on my knee and on the floor if held under his arms, likes to go up and down and up and down and... (tired arms)
Teeth: none yet but lots of dribbling and fist chewing
Talking: lots of silly noises, mostly sreetches at the moment and a lot of raspberries, has occasionally sounded like he's said 'hiya' (like Floria - this is what I hear anyway )
Sleeping: doing well, goes from about 8pm to 7am but lately has been waking around 5/6 just to kick his feet for a while, raises both legs and then smacks them down over and over again - we have given him the name 'tub thumper' as in @there goes tub thumber again, what time is is?'
Fave Food: Has only just tried carrot and wasn't quite sure what to do with it but didn't totally reject it, gonna try apple today
Fave Toy: There is a little cat on his bouncy chair he loves to pull off (attached with velcro) and chew, also loves his door bouncer.
Meals per day: none yet!

Dalrymps · 14/04/2008 11:30

Sorry for all the spelling mistakes!

FloriaTosca · 14/04/2008 11:37

Sorry had to post that before I had finished posting because the wireless connection keeps bombing out..I meant to say that it is probably too much to copy everyones update and add your own to one long post, so best to just copy the format and do your own individual ones.

Dal; sounds about right to me for first tastes, just keep letting him try little bits...he'll soon let you know if he really loves something and wants more...(or the opposite)

Muppet; Glad the party went so well...lol at your space monster cake!

LLL;Well done Ben on the rolling front. Glad you had a good time at the christening and nice to have your cake decorating efforts truly appreciated...and well done boys for sleeping so well in a strange environment. Also pleased to hear that the carpet looks and feels so good...Good news all round from the Less Lumpy household ...though with you on the smoking frontbut at least she doesnt smoke around the boys.

News from the FT household is that I think Dh has been reading my MN posts because when I spoke about his birthday treat (the weekend away that suddenly was labled "child free" by the friends that bought it) he very calmly said.."oh, it's nothing to be concerned about yet....I wont book anything until you are good and ready and certainly not for at least another 6 months"...so that is a bridge I can forget about until I need to cross it..meanwhile..do I need to change my identity and password????

Dalrymps · 14/04/2008 12:25

Teeth: 1.

Sleeping: Usually 6pm-8-9am (so sorry

Dalrymps · 14/04/2008 21:15

mine- i've heard of water but guess you've tried that... also heard of water with orange juice in... Maybe if it's bad and upsetting him you should ask the advice of hv/gp? Maybe they'll be able to suggest something like lactulose?(stool softener and laxative) not sure if babies can actually have lactulose but they might know of something similar? Sorry i'm not much help, hope it improves soon.

alicet · 14/04/2008 21:25

Aaarrggghhh just read all posts and can't remember anything! No time to go back through (or to post Adam's update - will do tomorrow) as I have loads of parcels to wrap and post of things I have sold on ebay...

Just remember Floria saying you think your dh must have been reading MN... Either that or he is actually sensitive and understanding of your posistion? Now you will know better than me which of those 2 options is most likely ?

Oh and muppet at lovely party and at interfering mil!

Anyway hello lovely ladies and sorry I am a bit useless today!

OP posts:
AnyasMum07 · 14/04/2008 21:38

AnyasMum07 · 14/04/2008 21:52

Muppet - glad party went well - lol at the space monster cake. Hope your utility room smells lovely and clean soon.

FT - good news about dh views on weekend away - slap wrists for spying on mn though!

Had busy day today. Went to playgroup this morning - Anya had a fight with a bigger/older baby boy (go girl!) when he snatched her toy - hitting each other over the head until they were prised apart. This after her wrestling with Rebecca last week at York - am I raising a thug ? Then went to dh's other dd's for the afternoon then to TGI Friday's for tea (yummy ribs & oreo cookie milkshake ), where Anya got a balloon - she thought that was hysterical, especially when dh tied it to her wrist so she could make it bob about.

Off to feed her now. Good night all.

yourlonglostpal · 14/04/2008 22:01

Age: 6 months, four? days [scratches head in not quite sure kind of way]
Height: dunno
Weight: no idea
Sitting: Same as Anya, only when very supported, e.g. in highchair, otherwise, topples over
Rolling: Has done but doesn't seem to realise he can do it again ... is he thick??
Crawling: No
Standing: Yes, against back of sofa, or in his Tummy Tub - can hardly get him to sit down in there any more
Teeth: none.
Talking: all the time, says dadadadada (annoyingly!) and lots of other sounds
Sleeping: 9ish to 6-7.30 with no feed in between (hence tits like bullets in the morning and a truly sexy terry nappy worn up the t-shirt to bed - me, not him )
Fave Food: banana and avocado (separately)
Fave Toy: baby whoozit
Meals per day: usually 2 - not really sorted that one out quite yet

Mine - Huw too is suffering in the poo department since he started on solids. I can't seem to get him to drink water, but I htink that's the answer. I've been offering a bf after each solids session to rty to up his fluid intake. Hope they both feel better soon. If you find a magic answer, do share.

ejt - well, let's stick with the written word then, that's not a problem - how about one day next week? I'm busy, Monday, Tuesday and Friday ... so, hows about Weds or Thurs then?

love to all

A x
