Mine · 10/04/2008 20:05

oh forgot to ask how the York meet up went..?????

Stefka · 10/04/2008 20:37

Greenwhich is amazing! I used to live near there - I miss London!

LisaLessLumpy · 10/04/2008 21:24

The York meet up went very well, we have such well behaved babies Nice lunch, nice wine, and good chat I'm knackered now though. Had to stand on the train for the whole way back which was 90mins as it was so full. Got back to the train station at 5pm, straight to pick Sam up from nursery at 5.40, then home, then had to put back two bedrooms worth of furniture as we had new carpet fitted today. Phew! almost about to go to bed after I have finished catching up on here

York ladies - didn't do my run, was too tired and busy

muppetgirl · 11/04/2008 07:23

Hi London ladies!
Natural History Museum is fine with me too. There's nowhere to park round there so I''l train in up. I think I'll get DH to come to as I'll have Ollie and Henry.

ChocolateHobnob · 11/04/2008 08:47

The York meetup was fab! Lovely Lisa who is indeed MUCH less lumpy (!) brought the most delicious and beautiful lemon cupcakes and we met Floria and gorgeous Alex and we had a lot of chatter. The babies have all grown loads - Anya is now a whirling dervish who rolls all over the place!!!!

Oh and we had burgers and wine for lunch - classy ladies, us

Good news from here is Mini Marauder only woke up TWICE last night between 10 and 5!!! Before 10 she woke up a lot and after 5 she was up for good but imagine, there was such a long gap between wake ups that I was waking up and panicking! Maybe this is the beginning of something good... fingers crossed...

have a good day all!

J2O · 11/04/2008 09:19

had a great time yesterday, thanks york ladies! after i'd recovered from my traumatic journey, although i got loast on the way home again, couldn't find my way out of York, suprise, suprise, so it took 2 hours to get home!

Choc, it must have been all the excercise on the floor she was doing, and possibly the skirt lifting that helped her sleep! but seriously, thats great news, hope she keeps it up and gets better and better.

Lisa-the cakes where fantastic, loads better than in shops, but now i want more, more!!!

i hope you all arrived home safetly.

i've got a mad day today, sorting out dd1s birthday, we where up very early and Shannon decided she didn't want to sleep last night, so i'm not my best this morning, more coffee is needed i think.

Love to you all!

ps inzi-glad to see you back xxx

FloriaTosca · 11/04/2008 11:08

What a lovely day yesterday. It was lovely for me to finally put faces to names and meet all the gorgeous little ones that I know so much about..and now I'm going to have trouble remembering not to use your rl names on line. Thank you all.And the rain held off until we were half way home too!
Fabulous lemon cakes, lushious and moist covered with white chocolate mmmmmm, the perfect half birthday celebration for our 6 month or thereabouts olds... thank you so much LLL
Wonderful that R slept so well for you Choc..perhaps it was the stimulating company she kept during the day...I sincerely hope that it was the start of something and that you can finally get some proper rest (not that you look like a woman who isnt allowed to get 2 hours consecutive sleep...you obviously thrive on sleep deprivation)
Glad you finally got home J20, perhaps we should start a "get J20 a sat. nav. fund" so we can enjoy more of your time next meet up..Hope S didnt add to your stress levels on the journey home..sorry she didnt sleep for you last night, that won't have helped you relax after such a hectic day. Hope Ls birthday celebration is fabulous and she appreciates all your efforts.
Alice, hope Adam of the gorgeous big grin, got home without needeing more food
Anyasmum..Soooo soooo sorry for stealing your handbag and adding to your journey. I hope Anya got home without getting too upset and that she settled well once there...I'll see you as soon as I get back from SA
got to go, Alex has thrown up his porridge ..see you all later

Dalrymps · 11/04/2008 11:43

Hey everyone, glad the York meet up went well, am very ! I'm sooo hungry and feel like I want to stuff my face with naughty treats, the only treats I have are mini jaffa cakes and they're not nearly filling enough, thost cup cakes LLL made sound yummy.
Not much going on here, glad it's nearly the weekend, been buying more veggies for purees, I'm finding it very difficult to wait until the magic 6 month mark, although Dylan is totally fine, i'm chomping at the bit!
He's been in his door bouncer for the first time the other day and now whenever you hold him in a standing position on your knee he just bounces up and down, very funny Choc - glad Rebecca slept a bit better last night, hopefully it'll keep improving
Mine - with you on the escalator fear, never been on one with Dylan, although i'm sure most of them have signs on them that say you're not supposed to take buggies on them anyway so not such an irrational fear. Glad you seem to be getting some more time to yourself, we all need that to stay sane
LLP - hope you get the work situation sorted soon, how stressfull for you.
Well gotta go make dh's sandwich before he comes in for lunch, hi to everyone I haven't mentioned, we'll have to reorganice that Berwick meet soon!
Back later

Stefka · 11/04/2008 11:55

Great news Choc!

Dareh has gone backwards again - he was terrible last night. I am just trying to accept that he is a bad sleeper and not stress to much. And eat more chocolate because that always helps!

FloriaTosca · 11/04/2008 14:38

LOL Stefka! Does the chocolate help you or him?
Seriously though, I'm so with you...a few half decent nights of sleep and a step backwards feels like some sort of medieval torture...weaning seems to have messed Alex up no end... having said that last night wasnt too bad (bed 8.30,woke 2.30 but bounced back to sleep quickly, woke 4.30 and fed, woke 6.30 and gurgled/sang at full voice 'till 6.55 before wanting boob)Hope Dareh gets back into the swing of things again quickly for you.

Dal; Alex loves his bouncer too (the jumpjump attachment for the Amby frame)...I think that that is to blame for his tree trunk legs! Great way of tiring him out though

ChocolateHobnob · 11/04/2008 15:31

Dyou know what - I look seriously trashed today!!! Worse than I've looked through the terrible nights. Maybe something in me secretly likes sleep deprivation indeed, Floria! Weird - I've looked normal through nights and nights of no sleep and today I look like I had no sleep when I had lots! weird weird world.

J20 - meant to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to DD1, enjoy the party and have a glass (or few!) of wine for us all!

ejt1764 · 11/04/2008 18:10

Hello all ... glad to hear the York meet-up went well ... and I have to say LLP, that I'm also quite glad you're not moving to Edinburgh!

Do you fancy meeting up at McArthur Glen one day - it's about 1/2 way between us I think...

I have a revision day for my Arholiad Mynediad tomorrow ... my exam is in 13 days time ...

See you all again soon.

E x

Stefka · 11/04/2008 19:35

I am glad you have made the right decision for your family Apricot - sort of sorry not to see you up in this part of the world though!

Choc - I think your body adjusts to the lack of sleep and then when you get a little it realises how much it actually needs! Dareh has just got rubbish again. He just woke up actually - he always wakes up half an hour after we put him down - don't know why.

alicet · 11/04/2008 21:25

Choc!!! Fab news indeed! Understand totally the waking up panicking when they don't wake thing! Fingers crossed she repeats it soon but like you have said befoer at least she has shown she can do it therefore she WILL do it again at some point...

York ladies it was a fab day. J2O hope dd1 had a fab birthday and sorry (but not surprised ) to hear that you got lost again! Floria was fab to finally meet you and gorgeous little Alex - can totally understand why you feel he was so worth the wait! And you don't have to worry about swapping my rl name! Lisa the cakes were FAB!!!! Anyasmum she has really blossomed since we last met - you must be a very proud mummy...

Apricott (or LLP but you will always be Apricott to me ) great to hear from you! Funnily enough was going to text you yesterday to ask how dh's interview went... Sounds like it is the right decision for you all but can admit to selfishly hoping he would get it as it will be easier to see you in Edinburgh than at my mum and dad's! However, I'm pleased you have a plan that sounds as though it's better for you and your family. [ on your behalf you're having so much shit you don't need with work though - hope you get it sorted x

Well can't remember much else - I am trying on a couple of glasses of wine so please forgive me!!! We have had a lovely couple of days - got back from York yesterday to a mate and her daughter who had come to stay. Her dd (4) has been totally hero worshipped by Sam which is really sweet and she in turn can't get enough of my dh (who is really fab with kids). Slightly boozy night both last night and now... Dh and mate both in bed and I am soon to follow! Oh and we didn't let Sam have a nap today as he has been taking ages to settle at night - it worked in terms of the fact that he settled ok but not sure it's the right thing or not as he did seem really tired from about 4.... Will see how he is in the am to decide what we do tomorrow.

And on that note lovely ldies a big hello to the rest of you and night night! xxx

ess · 11/04/2008 22:17

Sorry I've been such a stranger ladies!

My luck has gone from bad to worse- won't bore you all with the details now.

DD is lovely- really settled down nicely but I just haven't had the time to keep up with you all. Sorry. I will tell you all about it another time.

Some of you may have seen me on other threads and I didn't want you to think I hadn't bothered at all- still been reading your posts. Life's been a bit crap to be honest and you all seem to be doing so well- didn't want to put a downer on things.

I'll check back in with you all from time to time if that's ok. You all seem to be doing really well and enjoying the ups and downs of motherhood. xx

Stefka · 12/04/2008 08:04

Hey ess - sorry things are so difficult right now. I hope you are taking good care of yourself.

Dalrymps · 12/04/2008 09:58

Hey ess, we're always here if you want a chat, hope to hear from you again soon!
Over the last few weeks Dylan has stopped bf all together, feel a bit sad as I didn't know the last bf was the last one iyswim, he's totally fine though and i'm glad I made it to 5 months mix feeding. I have been feeling quite hormonal though, does anyone know if this usually is the case when you stop bf? Felt like I had pmt yesterday and i'm afraid dh got the brunt of it .
I know I keep saying it but I really can't wait to start weaning, must stay strong, I really wanted to do it when Dylan was showing signs of wanting to but i'm not convinced he's that bothered, he grabs things and puts them in his mouth but thats most things, toys, my fingers etc. He's still sleeping through well, from 8/9pm to 7am and he's not drinking any more milk than usual, he does watch us eat occasionally... Actually i'm getting worried he's not interested in food and will be a nightmare to wean , thinking he might be fussy like he is with his milk
Alice - did you say you'd started weaning Adam? If so, have you found him eating has affected his milk feeds? Just wondering as he was drinking about the same amound as Dylan. Also has he taken to food well? What signs did he show before you started? (if you did that is), sorry to ask so many questions .
Well dh is doing overtime today but only till 12 , we're gonna go get Dylan the next teat size up for his bottles as lately he seems to be getting bored by his feeds and seems like he can't be bothered with the effort of finishing them I think thats the problem anyway?!
Anyone know if it's possible that, once they're weaning they will eventually be able to take all their milk feeds from a sippy cup rather than a bottle? God, i'm just full of questions today!
Stefka - sorry the sleeping isn't going too well fingers crossed it gets better soon.
J20 - happy birthday to DD1
Hi to everyone else, hope you're all doing ok, catch ya soon

VictorianSqualor · 12/04/2008 10:57

Ladies, those of you breastfeeding I could use your help here

AnyasMum07 · 12/04/2008 13:04

Just catching up after the York meetup which was sooo lovely - hope we can still meet occasionally even after going back to work etc. Choc - lol at Anya being described as a whirling dirvish - does fit her perfectly! I should join the other name-changers and become whirlingdirvishmum .

We've bitten the bullet and put Anya in a highchair now and she loves using it - she loves having stuff on the tray to grab - usually bits of food (she ate a big chunk of toast yesterday to my amazement).

Muppet - I'm like you, I would love to do my family tree, just never seem to find the time to start. Thought about it again recently now there's another generation. Let us know how you get on if you take the plunge. Lol at Ollie's comment about grandma's cooking!

Dal - well done Dylan at being such an angel at baby shower. Hope bathroom is all lovely now and there wasn't too much mess! Yes I felt awful when I stopped bf - really emotional - it gets better after a few days though.

Choc - did I tell you about St John's course at York - can't remember (well it was 2 days ago !) I did try their website - can't remember what it is but you can google it - and there's a thing where you can supposedly check what courses are available in your area. Doesn't work though, I couldn't even find the right course and it kept coming up with nothing available anyway. I emailed them in the end to ask if they'd got anything suitable near to me and they got straight back. The course is the children & infants emergency lifesaving one. I'd really recommend it - I feel much calmer now about things. Glad Rebecca had a better night's sleep - hope it continues... how was she last night?

Alice - hope your heating is up and running now.

ejt - at hv and more at mil. Ignore them both!

Mine - I'm sure you're an uber great mum already.

inzi - welcome back! at butternut squash story - that's classic.

Apricott - sympathy with you sorting work out. Having a baby is such a huge upheaval it turns your whole life upside down - it's so difficult to work out how to get back to some sort of normality.

LLL - how is new carpet? And thanks for cakes at York - they were yummy.

FT - Anya was fine once she was in our car - she didn't even feed much when she got home - she was just tired and fed up at being out for so long. She slept loads yesterday - not surprising!

ess - feel free to unload on here anytime if you need to.

Have a good weekend everybody
x

crochetdiva · 12/04/2008 20:02

Hi all - have finally got around to doing a name-change - hopefully it's worked ...

crochetdiva · 12/04/2008 20:07

yes, it has ... ejt (as was) here, felt that my mn name should reflect me a little more than my initials and my old postcode should ...

Have been for a revision course for the Arholiad Mynediad today - and found out that I'm doing ok, but also found out what I need to revise now ...

Mairwen has now eaten pear, rice cakes, toast (with butter), and likes them all.

Going to try her on some cheese tomorrow, I think!

Went to LLL yesterday - they were at my hv ... made me feel better!

Am still very asthmatic: sound like I smoke 40 + per day - mst go back and see my doc - this is no longer viral ...

Anyasmum - am really glad that Anya's taken to her highchair - it makes such a difference when they can sit up.

Mairwen is now totally stable when sitting up - she's discovered that she can reach for things - her arms seem to stretch to reach whatever she wants - then she shouts if she can't get it.

Still not rolling though ... not too bothered, it means I can still put her in one place and leave her ...

Yum, lamb steaks and SW chips for dinner ...

Have a good weekend all!

alicet · 12/04/2008 20:34

Aaarrggghhh! All these name changes! I really struggle! Still MrsF, Apricott and ejt to me but will try to get used to it...

ess feel free to have a rant on here. Bit of a mixed bag I think - most people have had their ups and downs so you will not be putting any dampners on us.

Dal yes I have weaned Adam and he has taken to it really well. Just was ready - was grabbing at my food and started having much more milk. So I think the fact he was ready made him cope really well. His milk intake initially dipped a bit but has now picked back up again to similar amounts.

Just a quicky - need to sort out some stuff to list on ebay tomorrow so may be back later or maybe not till tomorrow. Hello to everyone else!

OP posts:
yourlonglostpal · 12/04/2008 22:40

Evening all

V tired here, so just a quickie

Ess - Hiya, and sorry to hear you're down. Don't hold back from a moan on here - You'll get loads of support. Hope things start to look up for you soon.

Ejt - Crochetdiva - hmm, now things really are getting confusing! - yes, would love to meet up at McArthur Glen. Do you want to text or e-mail, or (how very old-fashioned ) call me to arrange when. that'd be lovely.

Thanks all for your kind words re the possible relocation. We're still in a bit of limbo really, but we'll sort things out one way or another. I just wish boss would get back to me instead of just not replying to my messages (maybe I should have gone to see him ) and that dh had a steady income - but you can't have it all (where would you put it?, she says, shamelessly stealing someone else's joke).

Is anyone else finding weaning is interfering with LO's sleep? Huw is more prone to waking now than he has been for ages. he's also suffering (partly from shock I think!) with these rather more solid poos, bless him.

Wish i'd been at the york meet-up. Sounded great!

Where do you live LLL/MrsF? I thought you were near London, but clearly not ... unless you've got some very fast trains ...

Hi Alice, Inzi, J20, Muppet, Floria, and everyone else. Big waves! Has anyone seen/heard anything of Designerbaby or Kittiwake or Buffy or any of the other no doubt too busy with babies to come on MN old timers?

Did I tell you I saw an adder the other day???? OMG twas exciting! It was about six inches from the pram wheels next to the path where I just happened to stop. I've never seen a snake in this country before, and certainly never so close. It was Beautiful!

Night all

A xxx

strawberrylace · 12/04/2008 23:32

Hello everyone
Glad the York meet went well. I am interested in the London one, though a bit nervous of all that public transport (travelling from Suffolk), so i may bring a friend for moral support!
Ess - hope things look up for you soon
Dal - you obviously did a great job of keeping up with some bfing
Anyasmum - glad anya likes her highchair - DS gets quite excited where we get him near his, as he knows food is coming!
Crochetdiva - DS likes cheese, but likes philly cheese on toast even more! I don't know if you've seen these feeders but I highly recommend them - makes it so much easier for DS to eat his fruit...
Hello to everyone else! Hope you are all ok. Here in Strawberryland we have been mostly trying to find a childminder for DS ready for September. I really would like to get something sorted so that I can agree a starting back date with work, and then get on with enjoying the summer (if it arrives!) with DS....

LisaLessLumpy · 13/04/2008 13:14

LLP - I live in Derby (East Midlands) weaning hasn't interrupted Ben's sleep fortunatley, he is still sleeping through and averaging 3 hours naps during the day too

Anyasmum - the carpet is fantastic thanks, it is so much cosier than the wooden floor and stairs, I love it

Went to a christening yesterday, my friends little boy, I made the cake, she was so pleased she cried Had a fab day and we stayed over in the hotel, it was really nice and the boys were as good as gold. They shared a room and we didn't hear a peep from them all night. Not sure how much of that was down to the amount of wine I had drunk though Feel shattered this afternoon though, I also became the official photographer and now have about 250 photos to work through

Ben rolled over to his front twice today for the first time, so now he can go both ways still no sign of sitting yet though, so no chance of putting him in the high chair as it is a wooden one so won't be comfortable or have enough support for him yet.
