Can we join in with the sleepless nights and black eyes?

DS battered DD round the head with a drum yesterday and caught the screw thing that tightens the skin at the corner of her eye. Cue bruising and a bit of broken skin. She was NOT a happy bunny. Not sure why she was sleepless, other than the fact she slept from 2:30 till 5 yesterday afternoon so didn't go to bed till late, and then was up at 10:30, 1:00 and 4:30.

I fell out of the car earlier . I got my trousers caught in the lever that opens the petrol cap and sort of poured out onto the ground. thankfully I was in my own drive. Could've been embarrasing in Somerfield Car Park! I'd just told DH I was feeling really sick and he thought I'd fainted and was all concerned. His sympathy soon evaporated when he realised I was just being a muppet!

Sport Relief mile was great yesterdat, but it was farking cold standing about waiting for them to finish. DS is very chuffed that he did it, and claims he's going to do three miles the next time as 1 mile was easy!

Good to have you back pumpkinhead

jammy, I hope DD is OK. It's probably a viral rash, DD had one after her D&V the other week.

Pumpkinhead · 17/03/2008 14:41

Hi Daisy - falling out the car is the kind of thing I do - v embarassing! And its not drink related anymore either!

Well done on doing the Sports Relief thing. (And well done DS too!) I was thinking of doing it, but find it pretty difficult to organise anything these days.

Another LO with a black eye - oops!

Jammy - hope everything goes ok with the doc. I'm sure its a good sign if they're playing happily. Still, always a worry isn't it?

Sputnik · 17/03/2008 15:23

Kudos to you Fury for even dragging youself into work at all. I felt like that last week, and still feel like I have a huge sleep deficit to catch up on.

Picked up DD from school and she was chirpy and full of beans, so I have obviously been forgiven for dragging her in this morning.

annobal · 17/03/2008 15:27

Afternoon all! Just sat down for a cup of tea in between packing...

Not sure I'll be on too much in the next couple of weeks as we're sending the laptop off on Wed - how will I cope!

We had a lovely weekend in Scotland - around St Andrews it is such a beautiful part of the country (we stayed with friends in Crail).

Holly - did you get my email?

Hope all poorly dcs are better and those with black eyes are healing quickly!

HellHathNoFury · 17/03/2008 15:29

There are spots in front of my eyes.

I am bored...but in a way, thank goodness work is slow today, if it were busy I have no idea where I'd be. DS has been taunting us with the occasional and rare good sleep for the last couple of weeks, only to mix it up with a few all night wakings. Last night was 11pm to 4am with an hour of sleep in the middle. I could have killed him!
I think it's teething - if it's not I have no idea. Basically he was the same last night as he was when we took him to A&E, but we have found that when he wakes up 'proper' he is fine, but he seems to be getting himself in this semi asleep zone where he screams and moans inconsolably.

The thing is... I am broody. Surely my body in it's wrecked and tired state must know better?!

HellHathNoFury · 17/03/2008 15:32

Annobal!
Dammit I checked my Aussie visa and it has expired, which wouldn't be a problem but I checked and because it has been 5 years since me living in Aus I have to provide 'compelling reasons' to return, else I have to reapply for residency all over again!
Bugger!

HellHathNoFury · 17/03/2008 15:34

DO you think that:
"me and hubby wanted to travel and earn more money and couldn't decide where to live but after finding we might not be able to get into the US we think that Aus might be ok" qualifies as a 'compelling reason'?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 17/03/2008 15:38

Back from the docs. Saw the very nice GP not the miserable so-and-so I spoke to this morning Viral rash as we suspected. Keep an eye on her general well being, breathing, temp etc, go back if worried. OK for nursery tomorrow if she is well enough in herself
Phew!

LOL at your compelling reason Fury.

lackaDAISYcal · 17/03/2008 16:19

glad DDD is better jammy and that the rash is nothing serious

hmm fury, I think maybe not compelling enough

annobal . Does that mean we won't "see" you till you are over the other side of the world? When do you fly again? (I'm sure I asked you this before, but it must be very soon now)

FairyFay · 17/03/2008 16:59

I'm glad the jamlet is ok. I hope she perks up soon.

Sounds perfectly reasonable to me Jammy, but not sure the Oz authorities will buy that reason.

Daisy, are sure you are ok?

EasterBunnylicious · 17/03/2008 17:19

Hi all,

daisy are you ok after your fall? I fall over all the time. I have these trousers with cuffs at the bottom and at work I was constantly getting my stiletto caught in them, and used to clutch the stair banister tightly when walking down stairs for fear of breaking my neck!

Fury, what a bugger about your visa. Poor you and DS. Sounds like it is teething. Pre-emptive calpol all round I think.

Sputnik, glad dd is ok, you must be relieved! Jammy, glad you saw a nice doctor and that jamlet is ok.

Gosh, it's commiserations all round again, anyone got any good news?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 17/03/2008 17:31

The Jamlet just had beetroot and mash for tea. I suppose I ought to warn nursery in the morning? And amazingly we managed to keep her new white trousers clean! (But not the tshirt)

lackaDAISYcal · 17/03/2008 18:17

I'm fine...injured pride and a bruised bum, but as I never made it fully upright, it was more of a dive than a fall!. And it was quite a soft landing really...well the size of my arse that isn't surprising

I'm taking it easy, and trying for some sympathy, but DH keeps laughing at me

justplainoldRia · 17/03/2008 18:18

no good news here, but no bad either.

baggins has just had his third bath of the day. DS2 had a sleep this afternoon, he looks dreadful, it's really taken it out of him. I don't remember DS1 being this poorly towards the end, I think he was more poorly at the start of the spots.

I made two huge pasta bakes for tea, and the boys had sandwiches! DH not home yet, hope he's having a "good news" sort of day.

justplainoldRia · 17/03/2008 18:20

hmm, baggins was wrestling the table I keep the keyboard on just then. I just caught it in time.

justplainoldRia · 17/03/2008 18:45

baggins is now bouncing on his knees to bob the builder. AAwwww.

no good news, DH home. he rang jobcentreplus earlier to try and sort out what he does next and they couldn't help him. he rang the office the letter came from and they don't have his file. I'm sorry, but WTF. (our village is between 2 towns, one town is handled by York jobcentre, the other Hull, and our village is split between the two. DH was dealing with york but they changed him to Hull withiut telling him, or without telling each other it seems). so it will have to wait until tomorrow. his interview this morning was a waste of time too

FairyFay · 17/03/2008 19:15

Ria, bureaucracy is crap.

some good news here, DS finally seems to be on the mend after having D and V for 7 days. Only one poo today and although still 'pasty' it wasn't liquid (sorry if tmi!). He also ate three meals and had some formula. Definitely not his usual self but there is some hope that we might make our weekend away at Easter . Oh yes and he can now do three steps between tings without holding on. He's very pleased with himself. I;m not so sure as it looks like there is probably even more falling over on the horizon as he gets braver

lackaDAISYcal · 17/03/2008 19:37

glad DS is better fairy and am very impressed with his walking skills. Sounds like he will be the first one to be off properly. DD took three cruising steps along the sofa tonight!

what crap Ria, a letter would have been nice.

DD bit me again tonight so has been sent off to bed with a flea in her ear. I shouted "farking hell" when she did it as it was soooooo sore and she howled. She wouldn't look me in the eye afterwards so DH just took her up to bed. She had been in bed for a few minutes when obviously it all sunk in and she started crying her "very pissed off" howl that she has. We just left her , but will give her a bottle before we go to bed. I'm seriously thinking of giving up as I don't know how much more of it I can take. My poor nip has just healed up after Saturday's effort....add to that their early pregnancy super sensitivity and

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 17/03/2008 19:49

Ria, on DH's behalf - that's shite!

Well done little Master Fairy! Now don't give your Mummy too many heart attacks do you hear?

Daisy - what do you think you're doing falling over earlier? I'm normally the unsteady one! I once slid gracefully off my seat on the bus one day landing at some guys feet as the bus went round a corner when I was daydreaming and unprepared. No bones broken though and I now have a friend on the bus

I am quite proud of myself, having just done my first solo bath night ever. Not much really I know, loads of you bathe multiple LOs single handedly on a regular basis, but I was pleased. i was so sure I was going to fumble and drop her while wrapping her in the towel. But no, she's safely bathed, dried, pyjama'd, calpoled and into bed

HellHathNoFury · 17/03/2008 19:53

DH is out with his buddies
I have been the good mother and put DS to bed who is back to his usual cheerful self

Diet was a bit so-so today but then I shot it to bits and had 3 slices of fruit cake with lashings of butter

My willpower is shocking when I am tired.
Going to bed!

Sputnik · 17/03/2008 20:02

That is exactly what happens to me Fury, don't think it's a question of willpower, your body reacts to tiredness by eating, logical really.

And that's why I had the best part of a packet of mini-eggs .

lackaDAISYcal · 17/03/2008 20:06

glad the solo bath-time went well jammy. It is a bit of a manoevre though; I've nearly dropped DD several times

Sputnik · 17/03/2008 20:09

I lay a towel on the floor for the baby.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 17/03/2008 20:14

Not enough room in our bathroom to lay a towel out next to me kneeling beside the bath. I hung it over the sink so I could grab it easily as I lifted her out.
