OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Sputnik · 03/04/2008 21:28

Oh Foxy, my DD used to be like that. Are you still on your own?

Fairy, I have recommended you

DKMA · 03/04/2008 21:39

Hello to whoever is still around!
Just popping briefly - going to try and get an early night tonight - I'm farking pooped.

RiaisMaLarkin · 03/04/2008 21:39

Hmm, DS2 seems unaware he was put to bed an hour ago (in disgrace for punching me in the face I might add).

Bloody bedtime, and there was me thinking we'd turned a corner with him. (And of course Dr fecking Who is on the telly so DH is no bloody use - I love my life too, can you tell. Tis bloody annoying but it's what I'm used to and I couldn't cope with change now, but why he thinks I care about Christopher Eccleston regenerating before he did a christmas special is completely beyond me. AND I have to have these conversations with DS1 too.)

Does anyone know what kind of paint is used to put the patterns on tennis rackets? Thought not. Why would DS1 imagine I would know

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 03/04/2008 21:40

I'm done with work for the week

Foxy, I also feel for you re the wakeful LO. And I want to say in response to your post earlier about loving your life, that it shows. Even when you're frazzled I can tell that you really love your family to bits, and wouldn't change a thing (well OK, you might ask for a bit more sleep or something but I hope you know what I mean )

RiaisMaLarkin · 03/04/2008 21:40

Hi DKMA - how was Luton?

I'm off to put him back to bed, little bugger.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 03/04/2008 21:41

DS1 would imagine you know about tennis racket paint because he's a DS and you're his Mum, and Mums know everything don't ya know?

FrazzledFairyFay · 03/04/2008 21:44

Thanks Sputnik, I have my Rainbowbabies invitation

DKMA · 03/04/2008 21:53

Hi Ria, Jammy, Fairy, Foxy, Sputnik (and any lurkers)
Ria - Luton was ...........er............well.....to be honest I only saw the hotel and the office - with a bit of the M1 (full of cones!!!).
I was pissed off when I got to the hotel at 10.45pm on Monday night to find they had allocated a freekin meeting room with a campbed in it for a bedroom!!??? I went spare - but the hotel was full and it was too late to strop off somewhere else! They changed me into a proper room the next night and gave me a free G&T in the bar!
I met up with a work mate on the Tuesday night who was in the same hotel - his wife had an accident 18 mths ago when she was pissed up one night on a works do - she decided to try and slide down the banister of a grand staircase in the hotel - she fell and landed on her neck on the marble floor at the bottom - she has been paralised (sp?) ever since. They have 2 small kids. He's not coping well at all - and really opened up to me - he's been thinking about suicide. Life's so shit sometimes isn't it?

FrazzledFairyFay · 03/04/2008 21:59

Hi Ria, Jammy and DKMA.

DKMA - how awful, it shows how things can all change in a second

Sputnik - I have ordered, I'll let you knwo what the things are like. You should also get your discount now .

RiaisMaLarkin · 03/04/2008 22:16

Not the best trip ever then dkma. Am for your workmate. I suppose it puts a few things in perspective too, my mum always says "there's always someone worse off than you". Does he have to be full-time carer for his wife and kids then?

Only one free G&T , you should have had a bottle

I forgot I'm supposed too know everything jammy. There was a time when DS1 was little and DH was being his normal modest self about his chef abilities and someone (me I think) said something about him (DH) being able to walk on water. That had amusing repercussions.

FrazzledFairyFay · 03/04/2008 22:20

A quick question for the formula feeders - how many bottles are your lo's having now, and how big? DS is having 4 x 8oz bottles (first thing, mid morning, mid afternoon and before bed). I'd like to cut at least one out but he grumbles every time I try. I was thinking of trying to cut the two middle ones down to 4oz, and then cut them out one at a time? Anyone who is down to less than 4 bottles - how did you do it? I'm racking my brains as to what I did with DD, but I can't remember. Tbh I think I just stopped one at a time and she didnt notice, but then she's never been bothered about eating unlike DS!

RiaisMaLarkin · 03/04/2008 22:26

Hi FFFay Baggins has 3 x 7ox (bedtime, 2nd bedtime & breakfast but a bit mixed with his cereal) then 2x 5oz (lunch and tea). I am thinking of dropping his lunchtime one to start (I have reduced them oz-wise already and he doesn't always drink it all anyway) but was waiting til he was better.

HTH

FrazzledFairyFay · 03/04/2008 22:34

Thanks Ria. I think I'll give the 2 smaller ones a whirl tomorrow and see whether he objects

DKMA · 03/04/2008 22:35

Little fella has 4x5oz. 7am, 11am, 3pm, and 6.30 bedtime ish. He eats like a horse though - and is showing signs of dropping the 11am one.

Yeh - work trip was a bit - I've known this fella for 12 yrs - and we have a laugh when we catch up.........so I hope I cheered him up a bit? He promised me he's going to get some counseling. He thinks he wants to split up - he just can't handle it, but the guilt is killing him. His wife has a full time carer and a full time nanny for the kids as he works in Luton 3 days a week but she is in Newcastle. Must be fucking awful for the whole family.
I'm defo going to make an effort to keep in touch with him more - so have just fb'ed him and he replied straight away!!

FrazzledFairyFay · 03/04/2008 22:39

Thanks DKMA. How awful for your friend - what a terrible position to be in, for all of them

FrazzledFairyFay · 03/04/2008 22:41

I'm off to bed, thanks for the help everyone. I hope everyone has good nights

DKMA · 03/04/2008 22:44

Seems so unfair doesn't it?

Anyhow............on a lighter note...........how can I lose a stone in 3 weeks? I've got to fit into one of my posh frocks - I've got 2 balls to go to and currently could only wear the dresses I have possible shawls?

FrazzledFairyFay · 03/04/2008 22:48

You could try cuting out bread and pasta and trying to fill up on loads of fruit and veggies? Apparently, eating grapefruit for breakfast is good becuase the enzymes fool you into thinking you are fuller than you are. Apparently drinking a glass of water before you eat is also a good tip - sometimes you are thirsty when you think you're hungry. Also the water gives you a temporary full feeling meaning that you eat slightly less. All good tips, none of which I ever follow of course

Right, I really am not here

DKMA · 03/04/2008 22:52

Night fairy and ta - I am going to drink more water. Just get in a bit of a panic when I need a pee and I'm working as I'm usually in the car or in mental health units where I have to use the patient toilets?! Worried that one day I'm just going to piss myself!

RiaisMaLarkin · 03/04/2008 23:13

No advice dkma! How do I lose - the way I'm going any weight at all, but really - at least 3 stone before June when my sis comes home? I SO don't want to be the fat one!!

seriously though, Rosemary Conley is good, and I am trying to stick to weight watchers (you can have ready meals and I am idle)

Going to balls sounds very glam. Lucky you.

RiaisMaLarkin · 03/04/2008 23:14

I do feel deja vo though - weren't we talking about "tena lady" this time last year? happy days...

nite all. Rx

RiaisMaLarkin · 03/04/2008 23:15

I did mean "vu". Typo - honest

LittleMissNorty · 04/04/2008 08:15

morning all

Fairy....my DD has 3 bottles (9oz). I dropped the mid morning bottle in order to get her to eat more lunch so she now has

9oz milk at 6.30ish
breakfast (weetabix and cows milk) at 8.30ish
lunch at 11.30
milk at 2.30ish
tea at 4.30 ish
9oz milk at 6.30

looking forward to stopping formula and moving onto cows milk

what sort of age should I stop giving it to her in a bottle? It would take her hours to drink it from a cup...

Hope everyone is good....FRIDAY TODAY

RiaisMaLarkin · 04/04/2008 08:28

Morning. My turn to do the DCs breakfast today (I know that sounds incredibly lazy, but I might as well make use of DH while he's here).

I think with DS1 we had moved his daytime milk into one of those soft spouted cups by now, just bottles first thing and bedtime/in the night. DS2 had a bottle for ages, well after he was 1 I think (but he was my last baby) I haven't made the move with BS3 yet, though I might give it a try at daytime ... maybe next week.

DS2 slept in his own bed on his own all night again (he popped into our room once to check we were still there), he got up for a poo (bless him) at about 5am and ent back to bed until just now. Having a friend to play certainly tired him out. I have invited my friends DS3 today as DS1 is going to a pentathalon day with her DS2. We might go shopping for his birthday present while he is out, when I decide what to buy him.

Have a good day
