Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Mornin!

Twas a late night for me - and I'm back finishing off the assignments this morning.

Hi Bumper! The assignments are for the 'PharmaTimes Regional Manager of the Year Award' - I've been nominated by one of my senior managers and am feeling the pressure to do really well so I don't let anyone down - but I'm just so brain dead at the moment!!
I understand how you feel knackered all the time! I went back for another check of my thyroid not so long ago - cos I just felt awful and they tested my iron at the same time - it turned out to be very low - so now take iron supplements too - it seems to be helping.
Just want to feel 'normal' again though! I guess it's not even been a year since we all gave birth - and our bodies can take a long time to recover?

Norty - I had no idea lo has had an xray! Whats up?

LittleMissNorty · 31/03/2008 09:19

think you may be right Bumper in that she is much more enthusiastic with finger food, but I can't get over the worrying....I watch her every mouthful.....she just shoves so much into her mouth....as a BLW'er, how do you avoid that with DD?

Unfortunately, the loss of appetite also includes her milk and is only taking one bottle a day in the morning. I hope its just her teeth and she'll return to normal soon....but this has been going on a week now!

LittleMissNorty · 31/03/2008 09:21

Morning DKMA - she had chest x-ray as she has a constant snotty nose / chesty cough....had it for months now

Your FB video was great

Sputnik · 31/03/2008 10:06

Norty, sorry to hear DD still isn't right. If you lived here they would've given DD aerosol treatments with a nebuliser yonks ago. I can't understand why they don't use them in the UK as they are fab for clearing chests and snottiness. There's a medicine you put in which contains cortisone but it's completely safe as it doesn't enter your bloodstream. I even used it when I was pg to clear a really persistent sinus infection.

Maybe DKMA knows something about this?

Anyway, perhaps it's worth mentioning to your doctor?

TALLULAHBELLE · 31/03/2008 10:43

Morning. Sorry DD still ill Norty. Probably just that that's putting her off her food. We do mainly BLW here too - DD shoves fistfulls in & used to gag a bit cos she'd keep shovelling & forget to swallow. She is getting much better now & can more or less eat what we eat. Its hard not to worry about food issues but I think the trick is to relax & let them find their own way.

Had a proud mummy moment this morning - DD signed for her milk. Was fit to burst. Still she did it again later to Daddy whilst he was giving her her Weetabix so maybe she doesn't quite 'get it' after all

LittleMissNorty · 31/03/2008 11:04

Thanks Sputnik, I'll see what I can find out. It certainly acts likes a persistent sinus infection - something both me and my mum suffer with.

Thanks Tallulah - I will be more persistent with the finger food....she eats the same as us now as well - just cut up small and spoon fed - doesn't matter what it is atm, she's not interested!

Perhaps nursery will have more luck tomorrow....

DKMA · 31/03/2008 11:05

Right - One assignment done - another to finish!
Hardest part is getting it within word count! Have deleted all words can get away with so reads odd!!!!
Sputnik - I did do peads resp for a while. Sold respules for nebulisers. Can nebulise bronchodilators (ventolin / budesenide) to open up airways that are inflamed. If airways are just bunged up with infection then ab might be needed.
Can nebulise steroid too (beclemethasone / budesenide)if asthma inflamation is the prob. Would enter bloodstream tho - as absorbed in the lungs - but very safe as very low doses are used / needed when used in this way.

RiaisMaLarkin · 31/03/2008 11:26

Morning! Tis very technical on here this morning. I'm glad everyone has returned to the fold though.

DS1 has gone off to science day ok, so maybe he's over the worst. It is alovely day so we had a nice walk back, but baggins slept while walking and is now awake and casuing havoc. But not to worry as I wasn't planning on doing much today if I can help it.

It is WONDERFUL to have a break from the shouting/fighting/bickering!!! And he's out again tomorrow at an art day. I am taking the little DCs shopping with my sis and her DCs though so it won't be quite so peaceful.

I am still bored though...

DKMA · 31/03/2008 12:07

Bloody hell - finished!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seconds to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hate doing things last minute! I wasn't told about it all until Wednesday last week (normally have a few months to do!) by big boss is a bit hap hazard and apparantly forgot to nominate anyone until he was reminded last week! Unfortunately for me I also had a diploma to complete online by friday, and half a book to read before tomorrow!

Off to Birkenhead now to sell some drugs!!!! Then back home to pack my bags as I'm on a course in Luton until Wednesday afternoon...........really don't know my arse from my elbow at the mo.

Hello Ria!

TALLULAHBELLE · 31/03/2008 12:09

Well done - DKMA! It's a day's work for me just to go to the post office so am v impressed.

Hi Ria.

Sputnik · 31/03/2008 13:06

beclemethasone - that's the stuff.
Wel done for finishing o time.

Glad things are loking up with you Ria

LittleMissNorty · 31/03/2008 13:20

Will mention that to GP - thanks DKMA / Sputnik. She's had a bit of ventolin, but I think she's a bit blocked but all 2 lots of ABs have done is given her oral thrush

Having a VERY difficult day with her today.....have shouted at her to shut up ....she is sending me demented ....

Ria, glad DS1 seems a bit better....I was about his age when I started getting migraines, I used to throw up something dreadful with them.

Fairy - are you lurking? hows DS?

Sputnik · 31/03/2008 13:36

Aww, hang in there Norty.

andiem · 31/03/2008 14:22

afternoon all

norty sorry you are having a crap time I shouted at ds2 to stop crying the other day he was very whingy I think we all do it
re the snotty/wheezy there is guidance about managing in littlies here is very comprehensive but you might find an inhaled steroid regularly is better than ventolin intermittently

fairy hope ds is better soon

well done on finishing dkma I really struggle with deadlines these days

hi ria tallulah and sputnik

I'm back...........
Poor lo norty - I hope they get to the bottom of it with the xray - I suppose they want to figure out what it is so they can treat it properly - no good chucking inhailed steroid at it if it is not inflamaition.
I picked little fella up early and we've just been playing and clambering on everything so he's pooped and having a quick nap - so I can go and pack my bag Don't want to go to Luton

Sputnik · 31/03/2008 16:57

Does anyone ever want to go to Luton?

DKMA · 31/03/2008 17:03

Didn't want to offend anyone - not sure if anyone is from / lives in Luton?
I've only ever been to the bit where our head office is...............and it's shite! Nearly as shite as Birkenhead - where I was this afternoon!?

DKMA · 31/03/2008 17:07

Thats just reminded me! I nearly ran over a little girl!!!
I was driving down a narrow street in Birkenhead this afternoon - it had cars parked on both sides - and a little girl (about 5/6ish) ran out from between 2 parked cars - right in front of me. I shit myself, but managed to stop without skidding. The adult she was with just gave her a look??? She did get a massive fright though!

Sputnik · 31/03/2008 17:08

It's funny though the different health approaches in different countries. Here they do throw this stuff at you, as a first resort before trying ABs. It seems to work though.

Sputnik · 31/03/2008 17:10

Sounds scary

DKMA · 31/03/2008 19:09

Right - I'm off to Luton.
Little fella is tucked up in bed - daddy is now on duty!

Good luck at work tomorrow Bumper!

xx

andiem · 31/03/2008 19:13

have fun in luton dkma

good luck at work tomorrow bumper

justbeme · 31/03/2008 20:19

Evening!
Yes, all the best for tomorrow Bumper - hope you manage to sleep ok tonight.

Did anyone elses LO's sleep patterns go haywire recently? L never sleeps thru now - sometimes wakes 1-3 times and the last 3 days, she's only wanted one daytime sleep.
As it is, she's fighting going to sleep right now, Ive already settled her twice!

ps thanks for all your kind words!!

Sputnik · 31/03/2008 20:45

Yes, Baby Sputnik's sleep patterns seem to be changing too, but in our case seem to be getting better rather than worse, ie 1 or 2 night wakings instead of 3 or 4. He seems to be sleeping a bit less in the day, and has suddenly started moving round more - so perhaps too busy in the day to sleep, but then tireder at night.
