Sputnik · 25/03/2008 22:44

I may be old but I have a great memory

My sis remembers the moon landings.

Sputnik · 25/03/2008 22:47

I also remember when computers needed their own rooms!

lackaDAISYcal · 25/03/2008 22:49

I remember when calculators had LED displays, but I never saw a computer until first year of high school where we had BBC micros.

foxythesnowman · 26/03/2008 07:15

1/2p coins??!! Jeez, they are a thing of the past.

Oooh, I'm up early, been awake since 4. DP just gone to work. Can't do anything as don't want to wake the kiddies.

Daisy, by my reckoning (and what I know of sperm) I predict another DD. And having two so close the same sex is fab. Makes life easy.

Well, I use the term 'easy' rather loosley [sp].

bit early for anyone to chat to I suppose...

BumperliciousAteTooManyEggs · 26/03/2008 07:30

Hi, I'm up. why is it that everytime it's my turn to lie in the baby wakes up at 8 and when it's my turn it's before fecking 7 I tried 4 times to get a lie over the weekend and each time I either woke up before the baby or she didn't wake up till 8 so I just fed her anyway. I'm a crap sleeper too. I can't get back to sleep once I am up even though I am knackered.

Ooop, sorry foxy, you've been up since 4, you must be knackered too!

BumperliciousAteTooManyEggs · 26/03/2008 07:52

Daisy you are gorgeous and of course lovely! I can't believe I forgot to say that

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 26/03/2008 08:20

Morning all.

Bumper, sorry about your lack of lie ins. Jamlet is awake at 6 more often than not, so I tend not to know what a lie in is either.

Had a bad night with the Jmalet last night, 3 times she woke and each time just didn't want to go back to sleep. The worst was when I was up with her from 1am to 2.15am trying to get her back to sleep - tried everything, she didn't want a feed, nappy was fine but changed it anyway, gave calpol, water, bonjela, cuddles, tried just letting her play in her cot with some toys, ended up just having to sit with her and wait it out until she was tired

The soup did not stay where it ought last night And I'm ashamed to say I had a small accident in the night too But when I woke this morning I felt "better", and hungry. So I have just tried a tea cake for brekky...

1/2p coins eh? Yes I remember them. We saved them up all year in an empty peanut butter jar to take on holiday as gambling money Too young (born in 1970) to remember decimilisation itself though.

BumperliciousAteTooManyEggs · 26/03/2008 08:31

Jammy that happened to dh when he had it. made him not want to sleep for a few days. and the same for my mum this week.

sorry about whinging about lie ins when you are being woken up in the night i just need some catch up sleep and i am just so anxious about going back to work next week, and i don't cope well with being tired, makes me vile!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 26/03/2008 08:40

I was wondering when you went back to work Bumper. Good Luck!* Not that you need it, you'll be fab! Can you try to concentrate on getting a few early nights before then, and maybe persuade DH to do a couple of mornings before your big day? I was anal about getting everything ready the night before for the first few times to ease the "getting out of the house on time" pressure in the morning. Am a bit more relaxed now, but definitely find that a bit of pre-organisation helps.

LittleMissNorty · 26/03/2008 09:13

Morning ladies

Bumper you'll be fine....but as Jammy said, be organised...

Jammy - sounds like you've got over the worst so fingers crossed x

DH got up at 6am with DD (normal time for her as that's when we get up on a work day) and I've come down at 8.30am, gave her breakfast and put her down for her nap and asked about the overnight nappy....was it dirty, I asked?
Oh, DH replies, I forgot. Forgot what I ask? She is now asleep and still in last nights nappy .....

Off to hospital this morning for her chest x-rays ....won't bother with the mascara then

BumperliciousAteTooManyEggs · 26/03/2008 09:20

Good luck with the xrays norty, hope DD is ok x

lackaDAISYcal · 26/03/2008 09:37

morning...foxy, I thought it was a girl as weel at forst as we did the deed a day before I ov'd, but recently I've had a notion it was going to be another boy. The scan had me about a week later than I thought I was.....slow lazy Y-sperm mean late fertilisation and all that! It would be good of it was another girl though, purely from the practicalities of the clothes we have, but OMG the hormones when they hit puberty together

Jammy glad you're feeling a bit better. I hope this bug doesn't make it's way northwards, it sounds bloody horrible.

We are supposed to be heading up to Scotland early this afternoon, but I have to wait in for a delivery before we can get off, and half the clothes I want to pack are still wet! I'll be descending on my poor sis with a bag of wet laundry at this rate!

lackaDAISYcal · 26/03/2008 09:40

Bumper, you'll be fine. As has been said before, the thought of going back is much worse than the actual reality of it.

Norty, I didn't realise DD was going in for a chest x-ray. what's up with her? Good Luck for it anyway. DS had a few x-rays when he was little, and trying to get him to hold still was the worst bit. I had to wear a lead apron as well; man those things are heavy!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 26/03/2008 09:43

Norty, hope the xrays go well.

Daisy, sure your sis won't mind wet washing too much? (And if she does, stuff it! What's a girl to do? At least it's clean )

Well, a tea cake and some toast seem to be staying put nicely. But DH still isn't right, so another day off work for him But at least my black out blinds have arrived just in time for the clocks going forward at the weekend (West facing bedroom with thin curtains, and already only just dark at the Jamlet's bedtime). And some new grobags as she's (not surprisingly ) uncomfortable in the 0-6m size.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 26/03/2008 09:45

Daisy, the first time I had to wear a lead apron at work I said it was heavy too - and everyone laughed at me.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 26/03/2008 10:06

Oooh, I've just volunteered for some baby product testing - decongestants! Not the most glamourous subject, but judging by the number of colds and snotty noses she has, could be useful

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 26/03/2008 10:18

Morning!

Jammy, I've just had that email from tips! Have you spoken to sharon yet? She is wonderful! I'm not going to volunteer for the decongestant test as I am already testing wipes for the atm. Hope you get picked and hope you are ok. Your illness sounds awful x

Norty, hope your dd is ok with the xrays. What are they for? I always miss things!

Bumper, I just saw that thread about breastfeeding stars and I love it! It's made me feel all righteous and kick ass! I want to help get something like that done round here, I feel so strongly about it.

Daisy, hope you have a lovely trip home.

BumperliciousAteTooManyEggs · 26/03/2008 10:40

Holly, I have just been seriously discussing with DH how I could organise something like that. I am lucky that my bfing group is part of it's own registered charity, the GBSN, so not reliant on the NHS, but it looks like that campaign was NHS funded. DH is a fab photographer and I could hire studio lights, ask local beauty counters to volunteer to do make up etc. I would really love to do it!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 26/03/2008 10:43

Hi Holly, yes I spoke to Sharon a few weeks ago. And thanks I am tired, but really feeling better today. Feel a bit bad that we're missing play group this morning (missed it last week and no nursery for Jamlet this week either), but I didn't want to rush out too soon, and besides, I feel I need a good soak in the bath before I'm fit to meet other human beings! Sure the Jamlet will manage OK without social interaction with other babies for another day though.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 26/03/2008 10:53

Bumper, that sounds like a fab idea!!

RiaisMaLarkin · 26/03/2008 10:55

Morning.

jammy, hope you're on the mend. Good luck for the xrays norty.

I think Valentine is a brilliant name, but no-one would say my boys names are particularly common. (DH - should be a macho yorkshireman, but I think he's more of a girl than me - chose DS3s name). You all know my opinion of choose something that will really annoy the ILs

Just taken DS2 for his eye test. He was very good and is all clear apparently. I am surprised because last year when I took DS1 to the opticians the optician said he would want to see him soon given the family history of astigmatism. The lady today said he might need to see an optician when he's 7, unless we notice anything before. I have to go to the opticians myself in about 20 minutes. I don't want to go, my eyes are all itchy with my cold.

TALLULAHBELLE · 26/03/2008 10:56

Hi - how's everyone? Lots of sickness going around by the looks of it. Hope everyone better soon.

We had a nightmare Easter weekend. The viewer for my flat didn't turn up even tho she had requested a second look. We had spent the whole day before cleaning & we sat in all morning on Good Friday waiting for her. Poor DD was so tired & I couldn't put her down for her nap in case the viewer turned up & wanted to look round the bedroom. DD was all out of sorts- red cheeks, hot, clingy- but I put it down to tiredness & teething (2 bottom teeth just appeared last week). By Sat she was no better & had a temp of 39.5 then started vomiting so we ended up at the hosp. Fun Sat night! Turns out she has a throat infection so we were holed up the rest of the weekend & had to cancel family lunch on Easter Mon. Oh well, there's always next year!

RiaisMaLarkin · 26/03/2008 10:58

At least I don't have to do any painting today!

Though I might try to finish the bookcase.

Homemade soup for lunch and might make roasted vegetable pilaff for tea. The boys have had kippers again.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 26/03/2008 10:59

Good news on DS's eye front Ria. Hope your test goes OK.

Tallulah, sorry to hear about your ruined weekend. And about non-show viewer! That's very poor. Hope all sickness gone very soon.

TALLULAHBELLE · 26/03/2008 11:23

Just reading back on all the nostalgia - I too remember 1/2pences. Fruit salads, black jacks, mojos & flying saucers all cost 1/2p at the van!
