Hey all

Hi fury, sorry about the Bristol meet up, it wasn't an alone thing at all, I just assumed anyone else who wanted to come would pipe up! Glad you have had a good time off. I wouldn't worry about DS, I'm sure babies don't over feed themselves, they don't have have the psychological associations with food that we do, which is usually responsible for people being over weight. I wonder if physical advancement (i.e. walking) is associated with size as DD is showing no signs of walking or anything, she doesn't even like standing.

We've just been at MIL's and SIL's, it's MIL's 79th birthday today!

lackaDAISYcal · 23/03/2008 22:00

do you know, I've never seen a single episode of The Darling Buds. It passed me by completely when it was first shown.

There is no way I could get DD to overeat. If she decides she's had enough, she has had enough and out it all comes or she paddles it off the table onto the floor if she is particularly annoyed. We've been teaching her the baby sign for "all done" which is actually working. she does it herself now when she has had enough. It's much cuter than raspberrying it all back at us.

Us June gals obviously just make big boys (DS was above the 75th centile, but was shortish so was a real chubby bubby). They were all good weights when they were born iirc!

RiaisMaLarkin · 23/03/2008 22:02

forgot to add to my post fury, it's all good home-made stuff you're feeding him, it's not processed stuff or pureed-left-over-chinese (once mentioned on the radio). Everyone is different appetite-wise, so even babies will be I would have thought. What does your HV say? Mums mean well, but things are probably different now in that respect (some things they are far better at - it's just finding the happy medium). Am glad you're enjoying the weekend. Today I wish my little buggers could go back to school tomorrow. They might all be feeling under the weather but that doesn't stop them talking/fighting. All the bloody time.

The only peace I got was when we went to visit the GPs - my mum has badgered my dad into getting her a nintendo DS, so she and DS1 were sat together onthe sofa playing their respective games, DS2 on the laptop and my dad reading the tv guide - bloody charming. (Mum has got a DS because she has been very forgetful recently and thinks brain training will stop her becoming a mad old woman) Tomorrow I am taking the big boys for a walk even if it's snowing and we get wet through.

lackaDAISYcal · 23/03/2008 22:05

i agree with the walk Ria. boys in particular need to be exercised regularly or they go more than a little mad and stir crazy. We are off out somewhere tomorrow, but not sure where. We thought about going to Eureka, but it might be a bit crazy with it being the bank holiday.

Am off to see the rellies on Wednesday then we are off the Fort William next Sunday. Can't wait

Sputnik · 23/03/2008 22:09

DD was heavy as a baby too, then she went for about a year (maybe from about 1 1/2 to 2 1/2, can't really remember) when she hardly put on weight at all, just got taller. She's still chunkyish but slimming out all the time, I've read quite a few threads on here where people with heavy babies and toddlers ended up with skinny, tall 7 year olds, so not too worried.

Sounds to me like your DS uses a lot of energy, I wouldn't worry if I were you.

Izzybel · 23/03/2008 22:11

Hey guys!
I know a woman who was child minding a 5 mo who was, at the time (he's about 1 and a half now) 25 lbs!
I really would try not to worry Fury. I think babies eat what they need to eat Glad you've had a lovely Easter break!
Ria, sorry baggins has chicken pox .
Sputnik, sorry you've been ill. Glad you're feeling better.
Bumper, did you get those shoes you linked? They are fab! Happy b'day to your MIL!
Daisy, hope the ms subsides soon and you're not feeling too tired.
JBM, nice to see you .
Trace2, don't think I've 'met' you properly so I don't know what the background is, but I'm sorry to hear that your lo has been in hospital and I hope that they find out what is wrong soon.
Jammy, sorry your DD isn't too well . Hope she feels better.

I've been confined to my room today, well apart from one outing to DP's mum and dad's. DP has been plastering a wall in the lounge so there's crap everywhere. I hate decorating! He's going to put a new fire place in and when it's done I get to do the painting! Yippee

RiaisMaLarkin · 23/03/2008 22:11

You should watch it daisy. We get the DVDs out evry year, normally in spring so we are getting earlier with age. It's usually accompanied by some pretty serious eating. DH thinks it should be us. Bless him.

I have never been to Eureka. DS1 wants to go to Magna cos he missed the school trip with D&V. Will have to think of something for his b'day, surely he's too old for ANOTHER trip to the NRM? We aren't going jousting tomorrow with the bad weather and poorliness.

lackaDAISYcal · 23/03/2008 22:17

The NRM is hell on earth on Bank Holidays; best avoided.

Now Magna, there's an option (I went on a vist once to The British Steel pipe mills in Hartlepool; all fire and steam and hot metal; it was fab ). We should meet up there sometime Ria, and see if Trace wants to come along too, as she is pretty local to Sheffield.

DS is now so skinny you can see his ribs, don't fret about chubby babies; they're meant to be cuddly. DD is pretty chubby as well, she is very dinky in the height department though.

Sputnik · 23/03/2008 22:17

Hmm Bumper, don't think size is related to activity as mine can't stand either, his legs just buckle under all that blubber. Not crawling either.

Glad you had a nice meet up. I'm over at the beginning of May, and it would be great to meet up, but not sure as we were planning to hire a car then DH lost his driving licence and we're not sure the new one will be here in time. Mine's invalid, which I hadn't realised .

RiaisMaLarkin · 23/03/2008 22:18

yuk to decorating izzy. I have run out of paint so get a short reprieve. The worst thing is, when DS1s room is finished, everywhere else (apart from the hall and stairs that I didlast year and still haven't finished the border) will look really shabby. And DS2 has plams for his new room too...

I've just seen Whitby on the news. I wish we'd been there today to see that weahter (safely tucked up in a nice centrally heated room with a sea-view of course) It has been snow then rain here, and we can't see the sea from our house, just hear it, but it's been too bloody cold to go outside to listen

I'm off. DH has dug the next episode out of the back of the cupboard. Defo on for fry-up in the morning - two eggs or three?

RiaisMaLarkin · 23/03/2008 22:23

The NRM is hell. Constantly (I prefer traction engines I once drove one at a rally in the WOmens handling competition - I didn't win)

I once went to the Earth Centre in Doncaster to a "conference" (it gave me a stinking headache. It was about using art in urban youth work I think. Pretty pointless for a rural youth club). It isn't there any more is it? It's Ds1s birthday just after they go back to school, may be able to fob him off with a cinema trip with daddy and a chinese/pizza takeaway.

Must go, poorly baggins causing havoc!

RiaisMaLarkin · 24/03/2008 08:24

Morning. We had a lie in until after 7am this morning.
Baggins is very spotty.

Oh, we have snow too

Have you seen the tip of the day? I don't think I could have stomached that!

DH is apparently ill. If he doesn't stop sighing and moaning I feel it is only humane to put him out of his misery.

Have a good bank holiday

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 24/03/2008 08:53

How ironic that the night that the jamlet had her best sleep for months and months, if not ever (not a peep between 7.30pm and 4.30am) on the night that DH & myself were trotting back and forth to the bathroom with D&V Thankfully it doesn't seem to have got to her (she's been fine apart from a couple of liquid nappies 24 hours ago) but we've both suffered and are worn out this morning as a consequence. I still feel sick, but DH's symptoms seem to have passed thankfully. But have had to cancel our plans for lunch with friends again

andiem · 24/03/2008 10:37

morning all

jammy sorry you and dh are ill

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 24/03/2008 12:32

HellHathNoFury · 24/03/2008 12:44

Whoops!
I'm pissed!
heeeeeeeeee

foxythesnowman · 24/03/2008 12:56

Ohhh Fury

Any reason? or just for the hell of it?

Lucky bugger

RiaisMaLarkin · 24/03/2008 13:44

Lucky you fury - best way to deal with a bank holiday

Baggins is getting spottier, luckily he doesn't seem too upset by it. The other two are PITAs. DH did get up and has finished tidying the tv cabinet. He has gone to the shop now.

I am taking the big boys to the GPs later as my sis is visiting them too so the DCs can all be awful together.

RiaisMaLarkin · 24/03/2008 13:44

for more poorliness andie & jammy.

foxythesnowman · 24/03/2008 17:08

Hope all the ailments are passing

Sun out here after snow showers earlier. LO quite bemused by the snow (perhaps that's because I took her out the instant she woke up to see it!).

We have just got her activity centre, she is very, very excited!

Meant to say Fury, DS2 was a right porker in his first year (he didn't move until 11 months!) now he's a skinny stick and I'm desperately trying to feed him up!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 24/03/2008 18:37

Feeling pretty rough still. When the jamlet goes to bed we are too Hope everyone else is having a better time.

andiem · 24/03/2008 18:53

hope you guys feel better soon jammy

EasterBunnylicious · 25/03/2008 08:15

Hope you are all feeling better today. Ria, sorry you have a pox on your house, hope the LO is ok.

Jammy hope the D&V have left your house.

Fury, hope you aren't hungover

Andie of your hols, but pity about the bug.

Where's Holly at the moment? Has she flounced or is she having a RL?

I'm in a grumpy mood this morning I'm afraid. DD woke up at 10.30, 1.30 and 7am, where upon she tried to rip off my face the whole time I was feeding her. DH has pissed me off as I said that since I can longer go to bfing group because of his stupid work he will have to think about going to some groups or something else DD will not get any other social interaction and he has basically refused, so it will be my responsibility. Twunt. He's going to get a shock to his system looking after her for three days. He thinks he's going to take her out to all these fun places (er where and with what - buttons?) and friends will just happen upon him if he want them to (no sitting in the children's centre feeling like the geek in the corner that nobody talks to for him - just me then!).

And it's my birthday this week. I have a love/hate relationship with birthdays. I always look forward to them and as far as I am concerned they should be a day when one is spoilt and everyone runs around after you and you do lovely things. But usually I have to arrange those lovely things myself, they never turn out to be particularly lovely and my mother comes along and usually berates me for being selfish and putting everyone under so much pressure. Harumph!

HellHathNoFury · 25/03/2008 08:31

Morning Bumper!

Now I have met your lovely DH - but he needs a kick up the bum. I'd let him have it his way for a bit then when he whinges about stuff you can point out the error of his ways. Nothing like a bit of I-told-you-so

Not hungover. We had been cellaring some shiraz - it was 10 years old and we thought sod it, so we cracked it open and had it with a cheeseboard. T'was nice.

Being back at work is an anti-climax. I had a lovely long weekend and now reality is back where I have to work and pretend to give a shit when in fact I am only doing it for the money so I can piss off and live on a farm somewhere with chickens.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 25/03/2008 09:20

Morning all. Well the V has gone, but the D is hanging on a bit still. But we feel a bit better than yesterday. And the jamlet gave us another good night, so at least we got some rest. We have both got the day off work as annual leave, the plan was to take jamlet to nursery and have a day out. Some day out! DH still can't go far from a bathroom and I feel worn out and have a thumping headache. And jamlet is just generally unwell, so she's not going to nursery

Bumper, I sympathise with your birthday issues. I also think you should get to do lovely things for your birthday, but often it doesn't work out and is a let down. Hope you have a lovely time this year though And hope your DH picks his ideas up a bit too
