Ooh how exciting Fury. What are you looking at? Thanks for the fish finger recipe btw. I'm going to try it tomorrow for all 3 - i'll let you know how it goes...

HellHathNoFury · 05/03/2008 15:36

eek! The pressure of a fish finger!
It was just something I knocked up out of some leftovers and it went down well with DS, I thought it would be useful for the BLW out there. It looks pretty vile though, it's not like a nice pretty fishcake or anything!
And if you whizz it too much it's very smooth, if you wanted it better for the elders I would say try whizzing the egg and bread first and mashing the fish and potato in with it so it's not as paste-like.

We are looking at norwood, glenelg, burnside (and surrounding areas).
Although can probably only afford Mount Barker which isn't that bad really tbh.

annobal · 05/03/2008 15:43

All really nice areas - esp burnside . Mount Barker is lovely. When do you think you might do it?

BumperliciousNeedsaGlassofWine · 05/03/2008 15:43

Good news, DH is getting PT hours, though not the days originally agreed, and they are still shit-peddling knob wanks, but a relief nonetheless. I still won't be able to go to bfing group and be a peer supporter, nor will I be able to continue with the counselling, but better than nothing. Still DH better be outta there asap!

SisterSputnik · 05/03/2008 15:51

That's good Bumper. LOL at "shit-peddling knob wanks", will file that away for future use.

annobal · 05/03/2008 15:52

Bumper that's really good news and such a relief. Shame you can't continue your things though - can you find something on the other days?

annobal · 05/03/2008 15:53

LOL - am going to try that out on DH tonight (he is tourettesmaster)

andienovicehabitlifter · 05/03/2008 15:56

afternoon all

bumper so pleased it has been sorted out not perfect but better than nothing hopefully he'll be able to get a new job

fairy and I had a good meet in ikea they have beach stuff in so of course we both bought plastic tat as you do I could see dh rolling his eyes at me when he saw it

fury you will be the blw masterchef contestant for the june thread or you could bulk make them and sell them tested by mums and babies

hi everyone else

dh has finally got up and gone to work after 2 days of maoning and groaning

lackaDAISYcal · 05/03/2008 17:55

not another case of man ebola andie?

annobal, I'd heard that about the oats, so I'll give it go. No response from barefoot botanicals regarding my blagging e-mail yet, but I'm not paying £17 for something that might not work! We had spaghetti carbonara for tea tomight, so we'll see how she is in the morning....

OP posts:
annobal · 05/03/2008 17:59

Fair enough - it is bloody expensive.

lackaDAISYcal · 05/03/2008 18:00

oh, bumper, I meant to say, is there nothing else on another day for the peer supporter stuff? Or could you arrange with your work to let you away for the training course if you make up the hours? after all it isn't going to be forever. Or can you do the course as distance learning? and get some experience/practice in elsewhere. You should talk to the BF training co-ordinator about it. If you are valuable to them they may be able to work something around you? (and the same goes for your work too )

I've got my application form for the NCT BF counsellor course....still undecided about commiting to it though.

My new fuzzibunz arrived today, so I can be fully in cloth again (wooo hoooo).....I'm not sure I like the new style ones, but I got them reasonably cheap, so I can't complain!

grumpy DCs to sort out...later

Riallymusttryharder · 05/03/2008 18:34

Good that you've got things sorted bumper, it's not perfect as you say but at least it's something to work with and you aren't going to be down on income or anything til something better comes up. You do have such a way with words, I think I might get them in the wrong order

I think I've been to Glenelge (sp?) Is that where there is a beach and a tram?

Riallymusttryharder · 05/03/2008 18:38

I was lucky last night, no pefect jobs in the place we used to live so I haven't ruined our lives by moving back here.

DH was thinking of doing his Pastry Chefs qualification while he was off and it doesn't seem to exist at our local college, looking at the on-line prospectus he is more qualified than their tutors! He needs a bit of an "Otto Clarke" job I think

Damn SATS revision. DS also has to be at school early to go to a special group to do finger exercises to improve his handwriting. They should have taught him to write properly in the first place. Or done something about it before two months before his SATS. Grrr

lackaDAISYcal · 05/03/2008 19:20

could he not get a job as a tutor Ria?

DCs both tucked up in bed with no tantrums etc, and I feel caaaaaaalm . DS has insisted on going to bed without his pj pants on, as he was dry last night from 1am until 7 this morning. I'm under instructions to wake him up at 9 and then midnight. I hope for his confidence that we can get through tonight withput a mishap, or he will be really disappointed in the morning.

We went out to ge some bits from the shops earlier and I bumped into some of the mums from one of the baby groups. They meet up on a Wednesday afternoon for coffee and have invited me along. I'm feeling quite bouyed up by that . DS was very impressed with all DDs friends.

On a bitter sweet note, I got a cheque this morning for my share of mum's estate (bit of a grand word that for what she had). It's not much, but will get a few bits for the new baby (ie a double buggy). It was really odd though, seeing "the late Mrs xxxxx" on paper and it feels very strange to be spending her money iyswim.

must be hormones, I was crying at the end of Finding Nemo tonight, even though I've seen it dozens of times and it's never particularly moved me before!

OP posts:
BumperliciousNeedsaGlassofWine · 05/03/2008 19:37

Daisy, that must be really hard, but at least some good can come out of it. Sounds positive with DS though, hope tonight goes well for him.

Ria, do you mean the shit-peddling knob wanks, or the wank shitting knob peddles, or the knob peddling wank shits? Works pretty much any way you say it! Sorry I will stop with the gratuitous profanities now

Do the school really think finger exercises will help DS Ria? I have atrocious writing, but I think it is because I write as quickly as I think (or try to anyway) I can't slow myself down.

Glad Andie and fairy enjoyed ikea. Whenever we got we always come back with a chopping board and fairy lights!

Daisy, not sure what I can do about the peer supporter stuff, tbh, a lot of it was about going to the group, I've made lots of friends and it the only group I have stuck to as I like it so much. I am also considering the NCT BFC training, but I can't think about it this month as I am going back to work. My BFC runs the local NCT chapter and she runs a session of BFC training once a month. Apparently I can go to that a few times to see if I want to do it and if they want me. I'd also really like to do baby massage training (and one day baby yoga) and maybe eventually I can work as a multi-skilled post natal consultant

milkyJammy · 05/03/2008 19:42

Glad things are looking better Bumper. As others have said even though this isn't perfect, it's better than nothing.

Daisy, I imagine it must be odd to receive your Mum's money. Glad you've got invited out with some other Mums

We had progress with the jamlet's movement this afternoon. She wriggled backwards! Maybe the fact that she'd just weed on the rug and was desperate to get out of the wet patch helped? Then later she was making good attempts as lifting her tummy up off the floor to get onto her knees, which resulted in a bit more backwards movement. Maybe when I asked an 11m baby at the group this morning to teach her how to crawl, he actually did give her tips?

milkyJammy · 05/03/2008 19:43

But I am meant to be doing work now, so catch up with you later ...

DKMA · 05/03/2008 20:19

Hello all!!

Just had one of my lovely 'Mummy Wednesdays' with my little monkey - god I could just cuddle and kiss him all day long if he'd let me!!!

I have a confession though!!
I have filled the freezer full with these today!!! Eeek! someone tell me I'm not a bad mummy! I'm just so crap at cooking and I worry about him getting all his vits and minerals! I know that he has fresh homemade on site stuff at nursery and their menu is assessed by a baby nutrition expert every week - so he's ok in there - but I fell I really let him down when he's at home

HollyPutTheHabitOn · 05/03/2008 20:21

Evening all x

Bumper, glad things have (sort of) worked out with work. At least now you know what is happening you can get some sort of plan worked out.

Daisy, that must be really strange and final for you IYKWIM, but buying the baby some new things with the money is a good idea. Make sure you buy something for yourself too though.

Jammy, glad the jamlet is moving...I think I'd move too if I'd peed on the carpet! I should bring my ds to give her some lessons, you'd soon be begging me to take him away and to stop him teaching her how to be bad!

My dp has decided he wants to wallpaper the dining room that is now the living room (we have swapped the two rooms around). So now we are having another wallpaper crisis. He will not even entertain flowers at all, so has suggested something like this! I love the retro prints, they are v cool, but not sure if I want them in my living room!

HollyPutTheHabitOn · 05/03/2008 20:23

Hey dkma, not a bad mummy at all! My ds lives off of Organix fruit pots atm as it's the only thing he is guaranteed to eat! There is nothing wrong with bought food and that stuff looks much nicer than anything I ever make!

DKMA · 05/03/2008 20:24

Oh my fucking god Holly!!!!
That's a far cry from good old Cath Kidson!!!

HollyPutTheHabitOn · 05/03/2008 20:26

Indeed ! Bit of a failure on taste as well, but I quite like it!

foxythesnowman · 05/03/2008 20:32

I lurve retro prints - but you'd be bonkers to have it in your living room

Evening all.

foxythesnowman · 05/03/2008 20:33

and on that note I am shutting down my pc as I spend waaaay to long on MN.

and there's a chocolate mousse with my name on it in the fridge

n'nite

annobal · 05/03/2008 20:34

Wow Holly, how would that be on a hangover?
