It seems my RLBF has dumped me again, her new partner is lovely, but I have become a doormat.

Try not to get too stressed out bumper. Your DH might have been a bit misguided with his timing with the job application, but at least he is willing. It IS very difficult though, and we're all here to listen. I really wish I could help.

I am off to bed. Night. Rx

elkiedee · 04/03/2008 23:45

Just couldn't resist the challenge in the title although my baby was due April and born May last year. I think I have every justification for gorging on Easter eggs - I couldn't have eaten one at 37+ weeks and my hint that I wanted one for afterwards was ignored. So I plan to make up for last Easter this year.

BumperliciousNeedsaGlassofWine · 05/03/2008 08:03

Hi elkidee at least you won't look like an Easter Egg this year

Talking of labours, DH and I have argued because despite my being convinced that I have PTSD from labour he thinks that it can't have been that bad as I dealt with it so well. So I obviously didn't make enough fuss

LittleMissNorty · 05/03/2008 08:20

Morning ladies

Got a nightmare day at work today but eyes are just waking up ready for the microscope ..

Bumper....hope you get some good news today....and get it in writing....I take it the web-link was no good then?

Booked my hols last night A week in Fortrose up by Inverness and a week in Cupar wherever that is....oh I'm so excited....just got to book the animals holiday homes now

milkyJammy · 05/03/2008 08:48

Morning all.

Ria - how thoughtful of you to ask, and I'm loving being back at work! Glad it is just part time though.

Norty - don't strain your eyes too much with that 'scope will you?

DH has taken Charlie Mouse (our car) to be repaired and is then working from home. Which means me and the Jamlet have to be quiet! Sounds like we'll be out most of the day then Off to the "make & play" group this morning where I think they're doing gardening. Hope it's as much fun as pizza making was last week. And I think we'll be going shopping this afternoon as I've had to admit that the last of her 3-6 month size clothes are finally too small (she is 8.5 months though).

milkyJammy · 05/03/2008 08:49

Sorry, Bumper I have fingers crossed for a better news day for you.

Have nice Wednesdays everyone

HellHathNoFury · 05/03/2008 09:00

Morning all
Hope you are all grand and well
Nothing interesting happening in my world.

HellHathNoFury · 05/03/2008 09:35

does anyone want my baby fish finger recipe? DS loved it

SisterSputnik · 05/03/2008 09:38

Morning all

BadZ, it is indeed a Roomba, we had one before which we got in the US but it eventually broke. Now they are coming down in price here too. Anyway, they are fantastic, apparently other kinds aren't nearly so good. Off to test it out now

SisterSputnik · 05/03/2008 09:39

Why not Fury.

PS, as for those speakers anything wireless gets my vote, I hate wires.

HellHathNoFury · 05/03/2008 09:43

1 boiled potato (or the inside of a baked potato)
a chunk of fish - I used 1/3 salmon fillet
an egg
a slice of bread crusts removed
a bit of milk/formula

whizz it up until smooth ish

it's pretty gloopy but spread it out onto some foil on the grill in long thick finger shapes

grill it - turn it over as it browns
cooks in about 5 minutes, then serve!

Riallymusttryharder · 05/03/2008 09:51

morning all. there's an eerily (sp?) positive air about today in Rias house. Will all go tits up shortly no doubt.

Thanks for recipe fury. Do you think I could use canned salmon? Wonder if the big boys would like it.

Bloody scholastic book fairs.

HellHathNoFury · 05/03/2008 09:54

I reckon you could use anything - chicken, canned salmon, vegetables - it works as the egg and bread hold it together so when it cooks it holds its shape - but it's def 'baby' food (albeit finger food). It's not visually exciting and it's just a handy thing to cook when you have a hungry baby and only 10 minutes spare.

HellHathNoFury · 05/03/2008 09:57

I have a 2 hour meeting now with a consultancy that like us to write numbers on post it notes and stick them on the wall and talk at length about that number.
I will wait for Ricky Gervais to come through the door. It really is that crap.

Riallymusttryharder · 05/03/2008 10:50

that sounds thrilling fury. I suppose they get paid massive amounts for their expertise in the number-on-post-it-note field?

BumperliciousNeedsaGlassofWine · 05/03/2008 10:57

Fish finger recipe sounds fab fury. I have a portion of cod in my freezer I have have been threatening to make fish pie with but this sounds much easier!

Another top tip from me - dried apple rings. DD loves them, not messy either. But don't get the one's from sainsbury's that are actually only 55% apple (WTF else is in there?)

Riallymusttryharder · 05/03/2008 11:16

hi bumper. are things any better today? Are dried apple rings like dried banana chips etc.?

Riallymusttryharder · 05/03/2008 11:31

OMG, just got a letter from the LEA confirming DS1s place at secondary school in September. My baby's all grown up

milkyJammy · 05/03/2008 12:14

Afternoon ladies

What a fab day it is. Really feels like Spring. And for the first time in months the nappies are hanging out on the line, instead of on radiators/airers round the house

The jamlet is all worn out after a hectic morning painting her first picture for Daddy (with a liitle, oh all right quite a lot of, help from me). And planting a runner bean in a pot

milkyJammy · 05/03/2008 12:16

Just had a look over what I've missed by going out - will note that recipe down thanks Fury. And Ria - school!

Oh, everything seems so much better when the sky is blue Whos' coming to play on the swings this afternoon?

Riallymusttryharder · 05/03/2008 14:00

We might go to to park after school. We have to collect DS1 from school as DH doesn't want him to stay and help with the book fair tonight, apparently he didn't stop talking last night and DH had earache.

DH went to meet a friend who is a rep. this morning. He had TWO interviews while he was out (one to be a rep for the same food company, and one at the hotel they met in. Not bad for a chance meeting.)

I think(hope) secondary school will be the making of DS1, but it's a to realise he's 11 next month and is growing up fast.

lackaDAISYcal · 05/03/2008 14:50

LOLOLOL...I just got a letter postmarked Buckfastleigh

Busy busy day here. Went to clinic this am and got yet another cream for DDs skin. I asked the HV about possible cows milk allergy, as it has been getting steadily worse since weaning her, and then after yesterday when she only had BM and then a little past in tomato sauce all day, it improved overnight. My HV seemed to think that if it was cow's milk related, then the fact that I have dairy in my diet means that she would have shown signs before now......erm, she's always had it, it's getting worse though. My HV team are generally OK, but they can't know the answers to everything and I'm pretty sure that if they don't know, then they just blag it rather than admitting it.

I'm off to ask on the allergy boards....

sorry, quick visit

Afternoon everyone! Am not staying long (and if I do kick me out) as I must do the accounts before we leave. Today is the day allocated and I'm nowhere near finished.

Daisy - DS3 gets excema and I've been really careful to introduce things like wheat and dairy really gradually - he tends to have a pretty immediate reaction if he is going to have one. I've only just started putting formula on his breakfast and so far seems ok.

One thing that was recommended was to put a couple of handfuls of oats (yep, the kind you eat) into a sock and wash in a bath with no other products. Let it get wet then squeeze it out and wash with the milk from the oats. It's really lovely and soothing. I then use a really basic cream (like the barefoot botanicals one) if at all.

annobal · 05/03/2008 15:03

Sorry - not very clear - just wash with the sock with the oats in it - clearer?

HellHathNoFury · 05/03/2008 15:05

hey annobal - we are looking closer into an Adelaide move! Will keep you posted!
