the mouth heals very quickly holly. as long as it stops bleeding I wouldn't worry too much, there's not much they can do i imagine. a does of calpol for the pain maybe?

dd has just cried solidly for half an hour, no reason. fed and now whinging again. sucking fingers vigorously. that and the night wakings could she be teething?

milkyJammy · 12/03/2008 18:04

Could be Bumper. But I've thought the jamlet has been teething for months (red cheeks, crying, chewing everything, drooling loads...) but still no teeth on show.

lackaDAISYcal · 12/03/2008 18:10

possibly bumper. have you got any teething granules or bonjela?

DDs top teeth are nearly through. Her gums look all bulbous and swollen.

jammy, it's typical, they never schew on the things you want them to, but lipsalve that they dig out of your handbag, that's a whole different story!

holly, I wouldn't take him to A&E unless he knocked himself out. Just keep an eye out for him, if he gets sick or seems really sleepy ten call your doctor. research...I hadn't though of that.....I obviously can't stock things that I haven't endorsed now can I? will they be tax deductable

I am a bad mummy . Tea tonight was pasta spirals with cheese sauce. DD picked one up and it was still a bit hot and she burned her finger. It's not blistered but looks really red and she screamed for ages, and sort of held it up in the air all through our meal, eating one-handed.

she's now happily playing with some building blocks and seems to have forgotten about it.

Daisy, you are NOT a bad mummy. You were letting her learn a valuable lesson in thermodynamics!

annobal · 12/03/2008 18:26

LOL at name change jammy!

lackaDAISYcal · 12/03/2008 18:27

lol jammy....at the new name and your reasoning!

she decided tonight that she does not like creamed rice pudding. We had some after tea and she just kept spitting it out. I gave her a yogurt instead, and then when he was halfway through tried her again with the creamed rice, and out it came. she was then looking at me suspiciously when I resumed with the yogurt and refused to eat any more.

she has really started to express a preference for food recently. I d hope she isn't going to be a fussy eater.

HellHathNoFury · 12/03/2008 18:35

Daisy DS refuses to eat rice pudding too, he'll eat anything but.

How odd.

lackaDAISYcal · 12/03/2008 18:36

i think it must be the texture of it; it is quite unique.

HollyPutTheHabitOn · 12/03/2008 18:53

Well ds is fine! It is a nasty cut along where his top teeth are coming through. It bled for ages and his mouth was full of blood, but he ate half of my dinner and a yoghurt, so he can't be too bad! There'll be an hv at toddler group tomorrow, so I'll get her to look at it just to be sure.

Hope your dd is ok daisy. You are not a bad mummy. When my dd was 10 mths old she burnt her hand on a radiator and it did blister up and we ended up in casualty. It was awful. Now that is bad parenting!

You need to test all nappies, every single one you can get your hands on...for research obv!

Love the name change jammy!

I've only got a few fairy cakes left ! I think I may need to cook up a new batch for toddler group!

Riallymusttryharder · 12/03/2008 19:04

All hail JammyQueenofthesewers. LOL.

When DS1 was just learning to stand he pulled himself up on a storage heater and of course we didn't realise it was hot, it being economy seven. Cue his first trip to a&e (1/2 hours drive), His whole palm blistered and he had to have it dressed and covered in a sock to keep the dressing clea, for ages. Now that is bad mummying, and added to me only being 19 it went down really well with the non-judgemental helth professionals!

I am seriously pissed off with my friend. DH saw her this afternoon and when she mentioned coming round he more or less said it wasn't convenient (I have to go out to get my ebay tent tomorrow) and she said she would still ring in the morning anyway. I just want to tell her to F off, I'm a bit sick of being expected to fit in with when she has nothing else on, not to mention the fact that my kids are ill (BTW, when I took DS out yesterday he didn't get out of the car to infect the population of Tesco, he sat in with DH while I shopped, and he wasn't as ill yesterday. I aren't a complete hypocrite to take him out for my own amusement, of course if it had been essential shopping and I'd had no alternative I would have had to have taken him,so I'm not saying that's bad. Sorry I am rambling to cover myself )

Bathtime (and 20 minutes applying calomine lotion)

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 12/03/2008 19:29

I admit I was a bit judgemental when I saw a baby at one of the groups with her hand all bandaged up and her mum said she had burnt it on her hair straighteners. I understood the woman wanted her hair to look nice, but did think it was a bit daft to leave them plugged in and on the floor in reach of the baby. However, I do realise I have very little, if any, right to judge.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 12/03/2008 19:31

I didn't say anything negative to the woman and as time went on found she was a lovely woman and a very good mum.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 12/03/2008 19:33

Any I am off to do some work (landfills, not sewers tonight though)

Izzybel · 12/03/2008 19:43

Evening all!
Hope all these poorly babies get better soon
Aaargh, my mn is backwards! Is anyone elses? It's really confusing me as it is showing the last page 1st and the last message first!
DP is getting on my nerves.
Daisy is it your scan tomorrow? Hope everything goes well! You're not a bad mummy! We were in a restaurant once, DD was sat on my knee and the food came. The waiter put mine down in front of me and she grabbed for a chip, then started crying coz she burnt herself.
Holly, bless your DS. He sounds like a brave little soldier.
Ria, I know what you mean about fitting in with friends. I have a friend like that.
Jammy, like your new name .

HellHathNoFury · 12/03/2008 19:44

Ds in constantly banging his head on things and falling over. I can't be in all places at all times, I figure as long as I keep the chemical cupboard shut it'll be ok!

FairyFay · 12/03/2008 19:51

Hello everyone, sorry not really been able to catch up properly, just skimmed. I have been at my parents but not very relaxing as I have another poorly lo to add to the list. We have a projectile vomiting DS, bleugh.

I have been soaked to the skin by vomit three times today, each time requiring changing every item of clothing apart from my knickers (sorry if tmi ).

He's been having his bottles and some water and I've been giving him dry toast, biscuits and breadsticks to eat. Although not eating with his normal gusto he has been eating small amounts of those, but between 10mins and an hour after eating he spews everything back up again. He has, so far (everything crossed) kept the last 4oz formula he drunk in, and gone straight to sleep. Should I be worrying about dehydration? I'm keeping a close eye on him.

Sorry for all the ther ill little ones

Sputnik · 12/03/2008 20:19

Sorry to hear about another sick baby Fairy. Mine is ok but DD came down with another cold today, so it's just a matter of time before the next round of snot here.

Love your new name Jammy . Funny, I was wondering yesterday, after the radioactive waste and the sewers, when you would be getting around to landfill.

Bumper that really sounds like teething, try a bit of gel.

lackaDAISYcal · 12/03/2008 20:22

poor DS fairy. Can you try him with some warm pre-boiled water. Keep an eye on his wees and his anterior fontanelle. If you're at all worried, see a GP. you can register as a temporary resident in any practice.

I'm being kicked out of the office, so am off.

i need to get my laptop fixed. If DH is going to be home every night I'll miss my MN fix otherwise!

I'm off out to baby group in the morning and then scan at one o'clock. I'll update as soon as we get back I promise

OP posts:
Sputnik · 12/03/2008 20:26

Happy scanning Daisy

FairyFay · 12/03/2008 20:28

Thanks Daisy, I'll keep a close eye on him. We are back home now so I will take him to my GP or the walk-in clinic if he gets any worse.

Will wait for news of the scan

Riallymusttryharder · 12/03/2008 21:09

Good luck daisy.

My Mnet was like that for ages Izzy - there is somewhere you can click to have classic display.

Bedtime makes me want to shout and scream and throw things, then sit under the table and cry.

How do people with babies find time to straighten their hair before baby group? I have trouble brushing/washing mine

Riallymusttryharder · 12/03/2008 21:13

If DKMA is lurking - just had a lovely email from my DSD, she wants to do your BHA (is that right?) qualification while working in a stables, do you know where the best place (website, newspaper, whatever) to look for such jobs (golddust no doubt) would be. She obviously hasn't made it into the police and would join the army but doesn't want to sell her horse yet.
TIA.

sorry for hijacking the thread.

Riallymusttryharder · 12/03/2008 21:14

I meant "her", not your. sorry.

Sputnik · 12/03/2008 21:18

LOL Ria, I couldn't actually find my hairbrush this morning.

Izzybel · 12/03/2008 21:19

I've done the customise talk board thingy, but it just keeps going back, grr.
Ria, what's happened?
I try to make myself presentable for baby group. I try and get up before DD wakes so that I have chance, otherwise I'm usually dressed in my scrags and no make-up . However, I only have the one child. God knows how people with more do it!
