lackaDAISYcal · 09/03/2008 14:40

thanks my lovelies

I'm feeling a bit better and have had no recurring nastiness down below. DH is trying to rally me as I had this with DS and DD and all was well. I feel really crampy though and have a strange stinging feeling (that's the closest description I can think of). I'm a bit concerned about the fact that it has only been 9mo since my c-section and whether that will put any additional strain on my uterus. I forgot to ask the doc that on Monday. Anyway, we went out to the garden centre and had a nice lunch, so now I'm sitting with my feet up while the boys finish the fence and start digging out the potato patch.

Evening all, daisy how are you doing? Did you guys see this and my plea here?

BumperliciousIsStillNotDressed · 09/03/2008 19:18

Oh and I am sorry I missed the BLW talk. I am so into BLW. Occasionally I wobble and worry she isn't getting enough, but she's fine, and she loves it, and i am glad as i really can't be bothered to spoon feed her! She just polished off a plate of courgette and carrot risotto! And yesterday she had a sausage sandwich with me and dh which she loves (though i won't be making sausages too much of a habit )If anyone wants any ideas then I am your blw woman!

FairyFay · 09/03/2008 19:35

Hello everyone

Sorry I can't help with the shoes Bumper, with my clodhoppers, I have no idea what makes a comfy yet stylish shoe. at the bf problems.

I'd be very grateful for some more ideas of finger foods to give DS. How did your DD eat the risotto?

BumperliciousIsStillNotDressed · 09/03/2008 19:47

Just with her hands. i guess it helps that she is used to it, and risotto is nice and sticky.

Pitta bread is great for lunch, a bit chewy, but Aitch on here recommends a bit of grated carrot, grated cheese and cumin in a pitta bread, under the grill (splash the pitta with a bit of water to stop it drying out).

Pasta is good, the spirals are the best for holding, with sauces like pesto (with a dash of natural yoghurt so it is less dry), cheese or tomato sauce. Blueberries go down well here (Thanks to Fury), raisins, toast with pear and apple spread (thanks to sputnik or that one), tomatoes (cut into segments, she just eats the seedy bits!), spaghetti, noodles, roasted veg batons. A really good tip is to stick a plate in the freezer when you are cooking and put the baby's stuff on the plate to cool it quickly so they aren't waiting while you eat. Gratting veg is good, the risotto tonight had grated carrot and courgette which makes it good for DD and DH (who doesn't like much veg!).

lackaDAISYcal · 09/03/2008 19:48

Im all right bumper. Things have settled down, but I still feel a bit wobbly.

I read that thread earlier, but didn't post. The OP should organise a "feed-in" at the shopping centre!

I'm almost disappointed that I've never had any comments, althiough I did give on old guy a bit of an eyeful in IKEA cafe as I hadn't noticed that she had come off and my nipple was staring him right in the face . He looked aghast.

I like that idea about putting the plate in the freezer bumper. simple but effective. DD eats lots of chunky bits of veg, but she has decided she doesn't like potatoes of any sort. They get raspberried right back at us. She's also started shaking her head if she doesn't like something. LOLing at the sausages. We had bangers and mash for tea last night, but DH and I had a pork chop as well. I gave DD some of that, and then later on a little sausage. That got hoovered up like you wouldn't believe and then she wouldn't eat the pork after that!

Thanks Bumper, I'll give a couple of those a go. My DS refuses to eat whole veg (have tried roasted butternut and sweet potato, peas, sweetcorn, brocolli and cauli so far) although he will scoff them if pureed/mashed . I will definitely try him with the risotto with veg in and the pittas. That frozen plate idea is excellent oo, I tend to stick his plate on the window sill and open the window but that has the big disadvantage of making the kitchen cold.

Hello Daisy, I'm glad things seem to have sttled down for you - I hope all goes well tomorrow at the EPU, everything will stay crossed for you.

FairyFay · 09/03/2008 19:56

My DS had some of DD's sausage this evening and he loved it too, unsurprisingly

milkyJammy · 09/03/2008 20:01

Similar to Fairy, I can't help with the shoes I'm afraid Bumper.

What finger foods do you give DS so far Fairy? We give her bits and bobs as finger food but I'd also be interested to hear what others are doing.

OK, half an hour of work left to do. Then got to get bottles ready for nursery tomorrow. Hope to be back later.

lackaDAISYcal · 09/03/2008 20:04

bumper, I'm trying to help you find shoes!

Hey all!
Just popping in quickly before Wifeswap
It's awful that women get hassle like that when bfing. You can't see anything fgs, and if you can then that means you are looking too hard!
Daisy, I have everything crossed for you that everything goes ok. Sending you lots of sticky vibes. Glad you are feeling a little better (((hugs)))
Don't know what to suggest re shoes, Bumper. Haven't been shoe shopping for a while so don't really know what's out there at the minute.
Off for Wife Swap. See ya later!

Riallymusttryharder · 09/03/2008 20:11

Hi. Glad you feel a bit better daisy.

I just bought a tent!

I am off to lie on the sofa and feel pathetic I think. I have the first inklings of first AF since PG (sorry if that's a bit TMI or insensitive considering) and I feel like poo. Can't decide if I feel sick or not. The cramps are agony. Funny how you forget. Funnily I feel better now than I've felt all day, maybe cos all the DCs are ion bed?

I'm sure I'll be popping back later.

FairyFay · 09/03/2008 20:11

For finger food, DS generally has toast with butter and sometimes jam, cheese, cooked chicken, ham (not a great success), breadsticks, rusks, Organix carrot batons, biscuits, cheerios, mini oatibix soaked in a little milk, occasional chips, scotch pancakes, fish fingers, philadelphia sandwiches, scrambled egg (again not a great success), ripe pear, various veg (which he ignores) and pasta (he ignores it but I keep trying).

I have also made some chicken and cheese 'cakes' with mashed potato, egg, mashed veg, grated cheese and chopped chicken, and then baked. They went down quite well actually. For DD I used to make mini 'burgers' with mince and a tiny bit of egg and they were quite popular. Not tried them with DS yet but will do so this week I think.

He also has hipp jars, Ella pouches, Organix fruit pots and lots of yoghurt.

He'll eat a bit of most things I put in front of him but then seems to get bored. I can see him turning into a bit of a 'fussy eater' like DD.

milkyJammy · 09/03/2008 21:15

Thanks for that Fairy.

Dasiy, glad you've been feeling better. Hope all is OK. Fingers crossed for you

Just spoken to my parents. Dad's been getting dizzy spells and breathless when he's on his bike He's very fit, so this isn't normal, so he's being referred to the cardio dept for checks. His GP doesn't think it's serious though, but he is nearly 75.

lackaDAISYcal · 09/03/2008 21:17

I hope your dad is OK jammy. Good for him though still keeping so active. My FIL is 70 and cycles 50 miles three times a week and swims every other day as well. I couldn't even do that now, let alone in my 70s.

Am off for a snack and then bed for me; I'm bloody knackered.

OP posts:
milkyJammy · 09/03/2008 21:20

Thanks Daisy. He goes cycling a couple of times a week with some friends - I think he's the youngest in the group! And he swims and goes to the gym too. He's pretty amazing for his age - verging on the mad some would say. On his 70th birthday he swam, cycled and ran for 70 minutes each consecutively, and when he was 72 he cycled 150 miles in one day. All for charity of course.

Are you going to the EPU tomorrow? Hope all is well. Sleep well until then.

milkyJammy · 09/03/2008 21:24

Am off to bed too. Night.

foxythesnowman · 09/03/2008 21:26

Sorry to hear your Dad's not well Jammy. Hope he is OK.

Daisy, I just did a big post on what LO eats, but bored myself with it so it got deleted! Basically she gets what the big ones get, part for her to feed herself, part put through the spud ricer for a bit of texture and spooning. Also means that I am more conscious of what the older ones are eating too.

They all still eat better than DP and me, much to DPs disappointment!

Yawn, I'm sooo tired. Off to collapse, before I bore you all any more.

N'night

whoops

BumperliciousIsStillNotDressed · 10/03/2008 09:23

Hi Fury, how was your mum's party?

HellHathNoFury · 10/03/2008 09:27

It was really good fun except nowhere near as many people turned up as said they would so the club was a little sparse.

Otherwise it was great.

I had my first ciggie in over a year and nearly puked.

I am now at work but may have to dash home (if I can 'dash' in severe weather warnings) as DH is at home looking after a sick DS, DS has taken a bad turn and I want to be with him.
He has D&V but it's quite bad now, he has had it since Friday.

How are you?

BumperliciousIsStillNotDressed · 10/03/2008 09:55

Poor DS fury, he has been in the wars. I hope you can get back to him. Is it just a bug?

I'm fine, a bit limbo-ish in the build up to going back to work.
